I called their local office to report an incident & was told I'd get a call back in 2 business days; I didn't. I called their corporate office & was told I'd get a call back in 2 business days; I didn't. On 6/11/2026 in Naperville IL @ approximately 6:15PM, a Paul Davis van driving S/B on Mill Street was doing over 55 mph in a 30 mph zone & proceeded straight in a "RIGHT TURN ONLY" lane @5th Ave. cutting me off as traffic merges into one SB lane. This intersection is next to high school on one side and a soccer field on the other; frequented by children, pedestrians and dog walkers. Unintentionally, I caught up to the driver at the intersection of West/Rickert; glanced and he flipped me off and gestured me to move along. Really? This is someone you want behind the wheel of a company vehicle AND representing your company? As a driver in vicinity, I have to think he'll eventually be cited for speeding and reckless driving (if he hasn't already) - a bad look for Paul Davis. I also have to think he'll eventually get in a road rage incident (if he hasn't already) - a bad look for Paul Davis. I hope to God he's not behind the wheel harming someone before it's too late. How is he still working for your company? A reprimand? He should be fired with cause. Driving with impunity, I thought he might be the owner/co-owner/relative of someone with this franchise, but as I have gotten no responses from local or corporate - like this driver, I realize Paul Davis doesn't care or give a f***. WARNING! This company is most likely the worst in the entire Chicagoland area! I contracted Paul Davis Restoration to restore my home after a fire caused some damage. My home was inhabitable while construction was being done so my family stayed in a hotel near by. I stopped by my home randomly and found an employees car parked in my driveway with one of my daughter's toys on the dashboard. Hmmmm! What else are they taking?? Well I spoke to the owner and let him know this was not ok and he agreed. He promised me nothing else would be taken and that the employee in question was now " fired". At this point I'm very frustrated with the whole process but we need the house fixed and we want to move back into our home. So we continue on with this awful company. I should have known something was really wrong when he kept telling me he can't finish the job until he gets my insurance check. So. I give him the check and he shakes my hand and we agree he will finish up and do a good job. The day comes to inspect and start moving home and we find they have done a very poor job on the reconstruction of my townhome. Well boy was my face red. I felt stupid and quite frankly, taken advantage of. I made a huge mistake working with the owner of this business. I trusted him to do a good job and he did the opposite. I will admit that it is my fault that I paid him for the work before doing a thorough inspection of the work that was done. They did a horrible job installing new wood floors and terrible at interior painting. It was as if a child had done the work. They only primed the walls and never put a finishing coat and the "brand new" wood floors have large gaps with huge scratches on almost every board. I reached out and told them that it needs fixed and I was met with laughing and was told that he would not be doing anything else to fix my concerns. I complained to my insurance company and was told there is nothing they can do since Paul Davis Restoration is not a preferred provider. Which is a whole other story for another time. I do not believe I will ever be satisfied with this company and the only thing I can do now is let people know how awful they are. IMO this company stinks! Our experience with Paul Davis Restoration ? Kramer Homes after our house fire was beyond terrible. We used Paul Davis Restoration / Kramer Homes to demo the existing house and also to rebuild. Had we known then what we know now we would have never used them. We had to hire another builder to fix shoddy work including trim/carpentry, paint, electrical, cabinetry, drywall. I could go on and on. Here's a great example of the values this company holds: We specially asked for Pella windows throughout our house. We kept waiting for basement windows to be replaced w new, and the owner kept putting us off. His sub told us he never ordered them, so we did not understand why. Anyway, we kept pressing and months later the basement windows were installed. Later I noticed a problem with a window handle and called Pella to look at it. When the Pella rep arrived he told me my basement windows were not Pella! Paul Davis Restoration / Kramer Homes gave us some ridiculous excuse about "not being able to get Pella windows" although he never communicated that to us. Later, when looking through construction photos I found pictures of our basement windows WITH PELLA STICKERS ON THEM! (see attached inspection photo). We can only surmise that the owner told one of his guys to put Pella stickers on the windows so we would not question who made them. If after reading this you still decide to work with Paul Davis Restoration / Kramer Homes then I would strongly encourage you to get everything in writing before the work, and then to get detailed invoices. DO NOT pay any money until the work is complete! Plan to be on site every day to check on the work and make sure no corners are being cut. They need to hire employees with experience. I suffered water damage and they had to replace my floor. Horrible job. I have to shop vacuum in between the huge gaps they left in my wood flooring once or twice a week. They used the cheapest flooring to replace my flooring but they had no idea how to lay the flooring. Terrible work, First they painted my garage ceiling with my truck inside. I was home at the time and would have gladly moved it. Because of this, it cost me $200 out of my pocket to have paint removed. Next, I have brand new hardwood stairs that were installed less than a year ago and each stair now has a chip in it. Also I'm living with floors that now have mold on it. They charged over $10,000 to refinish my hardwood floor, all they did was produce mold on the floor, now I'm breathing mold in my home. This is very toxic and dangerous to live in.They removed the can lighting to repair the ceiling and now the lights in the living room do not work. Also the ceiling is cracking in several areas that they replaced. They painted a room and it looks like it was only done with primer. Also they painted around a picture. There are roller lines and uneven texture. I reached out to Rich who is the owner to try and rectify these errors. We had an appointment last week for him to come and look at all the problems. He was a no show. After contacted a mutual acquaintance, he came on the following Monday. He said he would fix everything. His excuse was my house has "a bad omen". This has been going on for 4 months. He already has been paid as well. There is still work to be done and I am beyond frustrated with the lack of concern for the poor quality of work, as well as the non urgency to fix it. These are all the items that were never done but received money for. #18 detach and reset window- it was already off and I put it back on myself. $122.56 #22 paint and reset openings/ never painted although could use it. $33.26 #25 detach and reset custom cabinets- he did not charge me. Review We had water damage most of our wood floor was damaged and we called State Farm and they recommended Paul Davis Restoration if we knew what we know now, we wouldn't picked them. Gary was all talk and talk like he knows everything at first we though this guy was a pro but we he was just talking to get paid. A month later they started repairing drywalls and painting that took five days to do. After that the real work started with installing the wood floors they had to remove cabinets but they do not know how to put them back. They had no plans and no pictures were taken before cause they had problem putting the oven back. I had to manually fixed their mistakes. They put a hole in a cabinet that shouldn't be there. The dishwasher wasn't properly installed and they called them professionally. As simple as dishwasher they can't even installed properly I have to fix that too. Damages drywall from moving furniture and appliances. They think just patching some paint on it we won't noticed it. They really like taking short cuts on jobs. For how much they are getting paid by the insurance. We expected to high quality work. For the worst part of the job after installing our Brand new floors they scratched it, without any compensations for the repairs. Something so preventable as covering the floor which they say they will to protect it didn't happened. They say lots of things that they didn't do. Also we felt rush to sign the paper so they can leave all the damage and mistakes they made. They think we won't see it. I'm no professional but I know quality work when I see it. Gary Lyons calls himself a project manager but he didn't check any work that's why everything was half ass work. Every job was out source to other companies which they don't care about their work too. Now we have to spend more money to fix theirs mistakes and imperfections. Anyone can paint but they paint like their Five years old. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE, THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY NOT THE QUALITY OF WORK AND PROFESSIONALISM. We had a flood in our finished basement. Called Paul Davis Restoration and they came out the same day. Joe came out ahead of the crew to survey the damage. The next day his crew came and it took only a few hours to remove the carpeting, pads, and baseboards. They hauled all the trash with them and left about 12 fans running in the basement for several days. Also, Joe helped handle the insurance claim. Although it sucks to have your basement flooded, it was a great experience working with Joe and Paul Davis. read more

I have never written a review about any company in my entire life but I am going to write one about this company. I would suggest you stay FAR AWAY form this company and find ANY other company besides this one. My experience with Richard Kramer...Paul Davis Restoration has been horrible. There are several Paul Davis companies so to be clear I am talking about the one in Naperville IL...My neighbors had a fire in their home.. connected to them because we are a condo led the smoke right into my house and it was horrible. It damaged just about everything. The cleaning they did was horrible to say the least. Was charged for HEPA vacuuming..their "equipment" of a total of $3500.00 for 12 rooms..I do not even have 12 ROOMS...they came for about 4 days from 9 to 3 with an hour lunch...I came home the first day from work and it seemed NOTHING was done..I was told they cleaned my tile twice and then steam cleaned it...NONE of this is true...My tile is still dark with smoke and soot. My lights were never cleaned, no one ever went into my attic like he said he did...he said he cleaned out the vents...he did not.. my son's wall was cracked in half in certain areas...had to come out twice to fix that properly....as soon as the painters left...whatever "mud" they put on it to fix it came off.... he said new shelves...nope...same shelves and are still yellow....none of this was done...in my 1300 sq foot condo i got new paint and carpet and that's it...the paint is already starting to come off the walls....how is this possible??for $20,000....TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS LATER....it was as if the insurance adjuster was on his side and agreed with everything he did even though it was fraudulent. He said he was a "preferred" contractor with Nationwide...that is NOT TRUE...they left their ladders here for 3 weeks...the chemicals that the garbage company will not take...sitting in front of my house...Please I am just telling everyone....LOOK them up and look into this company... If you search hard you will find many complaints...it was seriously one of the worst experiences of my life. To top it all off when I did not like his work or complained that he seemed to have LIED about several things...he said and I quote " You have gone over a line with me and I will NOT be returning any of your texts...your words are mean spirited unfounded and off base"...I mean can you imagine?? HE IS DOING WORK FOR ME...MY HOUSE AND HE TALKS AS IF I HAVE OFFENDED HIM BY STATING MY COMPLAINTS....The weirdest thing in the world...My so called "mean spirited" texts were saying you are not doing the job properly and have lied to me on many occasions...sounds like a normal thing for a person to say when you are NOT doing the job properly and have LIED on many occasions!!! read more
