This review is long overdue since Dr Hayter has been my optometrist for almost 7 years, and every visit is as perfect as the first time! His new location is a space on a strip mall with plenty of eateries, so it's the perfect place to have your eye appointment, and relax for lunch afterwards. His hours are perfect, and since he was open on weekends, I was able to get my vision appointment done just in time before benefits rolled over. His staff is always friendly and welcoming on each visit, and there is hardly any wait in the lobby. Every visit also brings new technology, and its clear that Dr Hayter stays well ahead of the tech curve. I visited Dr. Hayter's office a few months back to get an exam for both glasses and contact lenses. I worked in the eyecare industry for the better part of a decade, so my expectations were high, given all the great reviews. The office is very clean and inviting. Lots of reading material to be found while you wait. Or you can lose yourself in the shelves of glasses if you're planning on buying some, because they have a lot to choose from. The young woman who did my preliminary testing was cordial. I was disappointed that she was not as warm as I had hoped she'd be. She was not rude at all, but never once cracked a smile, so I wondered if she liked her job. The doctor was the complete opposite. I really enjoyed Dr. Hayter. I liked his upbeat and happy demeanor. He was more than thorough during my exam, and took the time to make sure I was happy with my new prescription. He gave me some trial contacts to take home and scheduled a follow-up for me. I had brought in my own eyeglass frames on my first visit so I could have new lenses put in them. When I spoke to the optician, I think he initially thought I was using my insurance benefits for glasses, but I quickly corrected him and he re-did my total so I paid the correct amount. I really liked him - he was super nice and very engaging! After a couple of follow up visits to Dr. Hayter for my contacts, I finally got a prescription I was happy with and was ready to order a year's supply. When I got to the front desk, I was told that my benefits had already been used for glasses. I was a bit put off, because I had specified that I wanted to use my benefits for contact lenses and not glasses. After going back and checking something in the back office, the gal came back out and told me they would have to contact my insurance provider and reverse the claim they had submitted. She told me the process could take several weeks, which I was not happy with since it prevented me from using my benefits to order contacts until that was cleared up. But I told her to please reverse the claim and let me know when it was done, so I could order contacts. Over a month went by, and I called and spoke to a gentleman who ended up calling the insurance provider and verifying that indeed the claim had been reversed. He apologized for no one having contacted me to tell me, but explained that the insurance company didn't let them know it had been done. I accepted that, but personally, I feel that the gal who took the responsibility for reversing the claim should have owned the process from start to finish, and followed up after a certain amount of time had passed, to make sure it had been reversed. Either way, I now have my benefits to use, and I can order my contacts, which is great. I am on the fence about using their office again, though, as I was not totally pleased with the experience from an administrative standpoint. So I've been here 3 times this month due to my eye being irritated and then again for my annual eye exam. When I was having an eye problem the lady that answered the phone was very friendly and got me in same day. Paul was thorough at looking at my eye to let me know what was going on. He prescribed me eye drops that worked at healing my eye. I came back a week and a half later for my eye exam and again another thorough exam. New machines and ways they check your eyes before you see the Dr. Paul is very friendly and had a New way to check my current glasses prescription. The eye exam didn't take too long probably around 30-35 mins. Everyone in that office is really nice and pleasant to talk too. I'll definitely come back to this location in the future. read more

I dropped in on short notice on a Saturday in the spring of 2015, I believe. The process was very easy and comforting. I mentioned I had over-worn my contacts by almost a year and Dr. Hayter politely recommended that doing so could damage my eyes (fairly deserved, but his professionalism was fantastic). Since my vision is so poor, I couldn't tell you what Dr. Hayter even looks like, except a head with a blue, blurry shirt, but that he and his staff are always patient, accommodating, and answer any kind of question you may have. I'm looking forward to visiting the new facility next week since, yes, I've over-worn my contacts for only a few months this time. I forgot to mention that Dr. Hayter noticed what may be a detached retina, which concerned me since my sister had a detached retina when she was 20-years-old. He setup an appointment very close-by and, luckily, it seemed to be alright. He also advised me well on what symptoms to "look" for if there may be an issue occurring. read more

The new location is stellar! Looking forward to my next eye exam and being able to shop for new glasses as it's now in house! Things have changed somewhat since my previous visit last year. The doctor has moved to a new facility, located within a retail eye wear store. Seating is in an awkward and crowded location in the middle of the store, with just a few uncomfortable chairs for people to sit and wait. The front end staff wasn't as friendly as they were during my previous visit. The girl who did the initial testing was pleasant, however. The doctor is nice, but when my exam was over I got a sense that he was very interested in getting me to purchase glasses from their location. In fact, I specifically had to ask for my prescription twice before I left. I'm not sure if there is a definite push to sell patients eye glasses, but it sure seemed that way to me. read more

I broke my glasses, and unfortunately my prescription was outdated, and with all the rain this week, I HAD to make a LAST minute appointment, late in the day, and they ACTUALLY got me in. I work the standard 8-5, and most eye doctors are closed by the time I'm off...and I also work a Saturday job, so finding someone that can schedule me is hard. As I traveled there, I was contacted by the staff to tell me to please be careful, they'd rather wait for me, than me be in an accident, as it was raining SO hard the day of my appointment. I appreciated that call so much, because I was indeed trying to hurry there, as I didn't want to miss the appointment. Once I arrived, I was quickly helped, all of my questions were answered, they took all the time needed to help me select a GREAT pair of new frames, that are not only stylish, but were inexpensive! I am nothing less than impressed with this Clinic, and would recommend ANYONE who has family or friends to go there if they care about how they are treated!!!! We went into get our eye rx checked from a different eye doctor and Vanessa was so nice and scanned our eye lenses to learn the rx we received from a different establishment and company was completely wrong to the point of being unreadable. Vanessa took the time to speak with us about helping get new lenses and next steps. Highly recommend and the customer service was excellent. read more

I was searching for a place for my parents (ages 68 and 64) to go to. They needed someone professional, friendly, and ideally someone (an assistant) who could help with translation if needed. When I called my parents after their visit, they had absolutely glowing things to say about Dr. Hayter and his staff. They said Dr. Hayter was thorough and patient in performing the examinations and explaining all the issues. His demeanor was calm and gentle and my dad, who loathes doctors, felt at ease and satisfied with him. No translator was ultimately needed but they did speak to the front office assistant in Spanish when they arrived and left so having her available is a major plus for them. If they can make my parents that happy, then they deserve enormous thanks for the type of practice they have going on. Keep it up! read more

I moved to Texas from Florida over a year ago and for anyone who has moved, finding your new dentist, optometrists, and physicians is never a fun task. After a good deal of research, I found that Dr. Hayter was known for his professionalism, knowledge and courteous staff. After my experiences with him myself, I would have to agree. I also appreciate how proficient he and is staff are. Just yesterday I was in for another routine visit and was in and out on my lunch break. Never once did I feel rushed and all my questions were answered and then some which I greatly appreciate. You can tell he loves what he does and as a patient benefit from that. Dr. was quick and efficient, but the staff leaves so much to be desired I can not recommend this business. I was told my glasses would be ready in 12-16 days. On the 20th day I called to inquire about their progress and was informed that the lenses had just arrived and she was putting them together as we spoke. I've been going to Dr Hayter for years. My son is also a patient. Today I added my boyfriend as a patient and he loved him! This entire office is great. They make it very simple. You can set up an appointment online and even fill out your paperwork online if you are a new patient. Dr Hayter is very thorough and treats all his patients like he actually cares about what he is doing. He is always very upfront about procedures as well as any charges and you won't find any hidden fees. Oh and they don't try to push extra services down your throat. Hands down the worst optometrist I've been to. I felt as though my appointment was rushed. When he couldn't find an appropriate lens for my left eye (the eye with terrible vision) he decided to just go ahead and prescribe me a "plano" lens and said there was nothing he could do for that eye. He then prescribed a lens with a fix for nearsightedness on my right eye (which he himself described as "negligible"). Essentially a useless prescription. On top of that, I paid extra for the retinal scans since my previous optometrist showed me where my optic nerve was damaged and needed to be monitored. His interpretation of my retinal scans after a quick glance was that everything was fine. The quality of these retinal scans were no where near as sharp as what I had seen previously. I spent the extra money and got a second opinion: the second optometrist completely agreed that the prescription Dr. Hayter prescribed for my lenses was off. Needless to say, I will not be returning to his office. read more

My brother got his frame replaced. It took over a hour. They said that the screw was to big and couldn't go in. I feel that if you say your item is ready to get that they would have all the necessary pieces, and have the process be able to run quickly. I wouldn't mind if the process was half a hour but a full hour is a complete stretch. read more

Dr. Hayter and staff were excellent. Not the cheapest exam, but not the most expensive either; however, it was the most thorough exam I've ever had, and the doctor seemed genuinely interested in giving me as much information as possible in addition to presenting solutions to my problems. Glasses were much more expensive than I'm used to when fully decked out, but the options for lenses, coatings, and grindings were excellent. It was a level of customization I've never been offered before. The woman showing the glasses was helpful, and there was no pressure to purchase on the spot. Very bad customer service experience. I did an eye exam with this doctor and ordered contacts after the exam. I never received a call about the contacts being ready (was told to expect about one week) and finally went and picked up the contacts myself at the office after several weeks. When i got home i noticed the contacts boxes were not even labeled left and right leaving me to take the trouble for myself instead of caring for the customer. I also ordered glasses and they placed a "rush" order for the glasses with the expectation that glasses would be ready in a week. After waiting for more than 2 weeks i went to the office whereupon i was told they would "check about the status". After almost 3 weeks i received a voice mail that glasses was ready and pick it up during office hours which was upto 7pm the day they called me. I went to the office at 6:50 PM on my way home from work and office was already closed and no response to phone call. Very very shabby customer service and i am beyond disappointed about spending money at this business. read more

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Hayter. He treated me for 2 years but this last year, he couldn't get my eyes corrected so I could see distance. I went back to him several times and he finally said he had done all he could for me. I still had trouble seeing long distance and couldn't see well to drive at night. I had to find another eye doctor who could help me. I was able to find a doctor who was able to correct my vision so that my distance vision is good and I can drive at night. However, I had to pay for the eye exam and new contacts out of my pocket. Dr. Hayter took my insurance money and then simply gave up on helping me. I would discourage anyone with difficult vision problems from going to him. read more

I literally found the most amazing optometrist on the planet. Dr. Paul Hayter at Visionworks. He and his staff were so thorough, and they have the best equipment there! They were proactive in checking my benefits and suggest useful tests that nobody ever did before! The place next door who does glasses will put High-Definion lenses in some frames that my insurance let me buy for free! They have a really huge collection of frames for both men and women too. And the cherry on top - they will be ready tomorrow in just 24 hours. Score! Best optometrist hands down! I've been wearing both glasses and contacts for many years, and I have had issues with one of the last places I went to in Las Vegas, so much to where I took my glasses back 3 times because they made me sick and something was wrong and they still didn't fix it. But I am so glad to have found Dr. Hayter's office. Such a relief! Professional, friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. What more can someone ask for! read more
