The secretary was very rude and slow. I will not use their service because of her worst service. It was the worst experience ever.

We tried other offices, but they were fully booked until SEPTEMBER. This office managed to squeeze us in for the following week for a consultation, where they addressed all of our questions and outlined the entire process from operation and recovery. We were able to come back the following for the extraction, so I was very happy with the quick turnaround and their ability to accommodate our schedules. Thank you to Dr. Khayat and his staff!

If you have dental anxiety or a true phobia of the dentist, DO NOT COME HERE…read more I knew I should have trusted my gut from the consultation. I left feeling like Dr. Khayat lacked bedside manner, but I brushed it off because I assumed many surgeons are more focused on the procedure than conversation. I regret ignoring that instinct. The day of my extraction, I was extremely anxious. I hadn't had a tooth pulled since I was a teenager, and I'm now in my 40s. The dental assistant was wonderful. She did her best to calm me down and explain what to expect. She is the only reason I'm giving one star. When the doctor walked into the room, he didn't introduce himself or ask how I was doing. He simply said, "I'm going to numb you," gave the injections ("1, 2, 3...shot"), and walked out. I understood that he needed to let the anesthetic take effect, and the assistant confirmed that. When he returned, he gave me more anesthetic then started the extraction. At no point did he explain what he was doing or check on me, even though I was obviously anxious and could feel my heart racing. I understand that extractions involve pressure and pulling. That wasn't the issue. The problem was that he was pulling so forcefully that my head and neck were being jerked to the side, and I finally had to stop the procedure to readjust myself. I was visibly grimacing, yet he never once asked if I was okay or needed a moment. The only thing he said during the procedure was, "The crown is off." Then my tooth broke, which I understand can happen, but again there was no communication about what was happening. At some point my gum was torn during the extraction. No one told me. I only realized it after he placed a stitch, and I had to ask the assistant what had happened to confirm why I needed sutures. When he finished, he simply said the stitch would dissolve in 7-10 days. He still never asked how I was feeling or whether I had any concerns. Before I left, I asked for an emergency phone number in case I had a problem after the procedure. He laughed and said, "You won't need a phone number." That response was incredibly dismissive. Every patient deserves to know how to reach their surgeon if they have concerns after surgery. I'm a healthcare professional myself, and I would never treat a patient the way I was treated that day. Technical skill is only one part of healthcare. Compassion, communication, and making an anxious patient feel safe matter just as much. If you're having IV sedation, your experience may be different. But if you're having a procedure while awake and you're looking for reassurance, communication, and good bedside manner, I cannot recommend this office. I wish I had listened to the other one- and two-star reviews before scheduling my procedure.

Overall no issues or complaints regarding the procedure. What I do find interesting is the speed at which everything happened, that then gave me pause to ask this question. Would we go back if he had to? The answer... maybe. Also, I should say I felt the same way at the orthodontist that referred us. Maybe some people like that, get in and out fast, and get it all over with. I am not like this, I prefer things to go a bit slower. My concerns. Everything felt very, very rushed. The consultation to took less than 10 minutes, maybe 15 at the most. This included x-rays, scheduling the appointment for surgery, medication handed to us that day and prescriptions to be picked up within the next day or so. I think they actually came in with the folder to include the one pill that would be taken the day off the surgery. The doctor McMurray was nice enough and the staff during the consultation were nice as well. Was it a "well oiled machine", so to speak, yes. The day of surgery, I think we were in and out within an hour, minus the time in the waiting room before they took my son to the surgery room. I think the front desk staff are not necessarily morning people. It was really cold in the waiting room and I asked if it would get any warmer and the quick response back was no. No "sorry" it is cold or "sorry" we keep it cold for a reason. Just plain no. The surgery was about 45 minutes, then somebody stepped out into the waiting room and told me everything went well and that he was in recovery. I never saw the doctor that day. I have no idea who came out to tell me the surgery went well, I have no idea if that same person was the one giving post op instructions or if they were even in the surgery room with my son. (Note for kids, maybe they should have offered to save the teeth, it would have been nice.) When I went to see my son, he was in a wheel chair and, of course, very drugged. I thought he would be a bit more conscious when I walked back to see him. At that point, it was hard for me to see him in this state, sitting all awkward in the wheelchair with his head tilted back and tears running down his face. The next few minutes seemed to go even faster. I was given rapid fire instructions on what to do post surgery. So fast that the person giving me the instructions was out of breath. Much of what was said had been provided in the folder given on the day of the consultation. It would have been nice to document to me what was different from the instructions given, since I was pretty concerned for my son at that moment and only heard a few things. Maybe, they should have given me the post op review in the waiting room or in another room, in case there were other people in the room. This way I could focus on what they were saying and maybe try to take some notes myself. Maybe even ask me if I wanted to take some note. I can understand, or recognize, how some people may be offended by somebody suggesting they take notes, but for me it would have been a good thing. They rolled him out in the wheelchair very quickly. He got sick the minute we got him outside and almost fell out of the wheelchair. I rushed to get the car and pull it up to the wheelchair ramp. There was a split second concern about trying to get him into the car, for me and the person pushing the wheelchair. I probably should have brought a family member with me in the car to take care of our son, while I drove home. Luckily, I did have help when we got home. It was not easy getting him into the house, he could still barely walk. He got sick before we got him to the door and got sick another 3 or 4 times within the next 2 hours. We opted to keep him downstairs until he was a bit more stable on his feet. Why is it that the doctors cannot suction more blood before it gets to their stomach. This is not just this dentist, it is others too. I can only hope the anti nausea meds actually worked, hard to tell when he was getting sick every time he stood up. I called the dentist office within maybe one hour or two and they did not call me back. I had two questions, one not a medical question but the other one was a medical question. When I called a week later asking for more pain meds, then they returned my call. The good thing was they did prescribe another medication which worked just fine. It also would have been nice if somebody called us later in the day to ask us how things are going. The post op appointment two weeks later lasted 5 minutes. If you do not understand what my complaint is, it all boils down to how fast it went. It felt like an assembly line. We were just bodies going through the process. Some people may like this but I would have preferred a bit slower pace.

Negatives: DDS tried to gaslight me by suggesting that I'm a difficult patient because I have a sensitive mouth during the e-ray process. The receptionist offered me the "rufi" option, which I initially declined because she stated it was optional (plus an extra $40 out of pocket.) Unfortunately, once DDS started the cleaning he was so heavy handed that I had to stop him and opt in for the Halcion aka "rufi". After only cleaning my bottom teeth, DDS said he was done and offered me a couple cups of apple juice to sober me up. DDS saw me looking really out of it while sitting in my car loading my gps for the 10 minute ride home. He offered me more time to sit in the waiting room to sober up but I declined because I just wanted to get out of there and go home. I was SO sick on my 10 minute ride home due to the "rufi" that I lost control of my bowels and BLEW UP in my car! =( Fortunately, I had a blanket in the backseat I was able to wrap myself in before the explosion, rendering the clean up process manageable. After cleaning myself up, I passd out for over 5 hours because I was completely non-functional. When I came to, I recalled my awful experience and cancelled the appointment for the following day. Can you believe that after ALL that trauma, he only cleaned the bottom half of my teeth!?! My mind is still blown that he wanted to rufi me all over again the next day to do a simple cleaning! To make things worse I tried to see another Dentist 2 1/2 weeks later to finish my cleaning, only to find out this DDS billed for a complete cleaning so my next appointment was not covered!! This was such a terrible experience I just had to share it in its entirety. I understand I may be an outlier but this was one of the worst dental experiences I've had in my 55 years of life. Finally, I have historically had a very high tolerance for pain and have never required sedation or pain killers for a dental cleaning.

Not only did he have a very good bedside manner, but he was also very competent as a surgeon. I had a complicated facial surgery 10 years ago after getting hit by a car, and I was dealing with some complications that needed the hardware to be removed. I had a spreadsheet of all the potential hospitals and surgeons and all 11 of them besides Dr. Taghikhan were either unwilling to do the surgery or were out of network and would charge tens of thousands of dollars (including the hospital where I got the original surgery). I felt so relieved when Dr. Taghikhan was willing to perform the surgery, and that he had plenty of experience with facial hardware implants at the hospitals he works at. I also have a disability (CRPS) that makes surgery very risky, since it can cause a severe flare up. Dr. Taghikhan was also willing to do everything he could to minimize this risk, which is something most surgeons might have been hesitant to do.
