I saw the sign (are you singing?) and decided to explore. One of my artsy bucket list things to try is quilting and I figured a small, local shop might offer classes and guess what?!?! Of course they do! I perused their shop, loving all the quilts, aprons, kids dresses, cloth baskets and bags that were displaying their patterns and kits. Checked out some of their fun fabric prints and bought a couple pieces of lace for not sewing purposes. I chatted up one of the ladies- maybe the owner? She loved my cat shirt and earrings and we were sharing our kitty photos with each other. I will be checking out the classes and hope for some fun Halloween sewing projects! Because I would be ALL ABOUT that! They asked how often I sew- seriously, for costumes mainly. But I can learn, and I used to sew with my mom as a kid. Looks like a fun shop to play! read more

I am giving this business 1 star solely on the owner Paula. She is hot and cold. Some days you walk in and she might smile other days she will just ignore you which is quite irritating because you have spent thousands of dollars on machines and fabric in her shop. Her rudeness is irritating. The only reason I continued to shop there was for her employees Laura, Amy and Cheryl. Mainly I continued to shopped there because of Laura, she has a fantastic eye for color and was always willing to go above and beyond to help me with fabric selections or issues with my machine. She is a quilter and was always so encouraging to try new patterns and techniques. Many times I would call ahead and ask if Paula was in before I headed to the shop. In my opinion she treats her employees like dirt and her customers rudely as well. Laura, my favorite employee resigned recently. I will not be returning to Paula's and I have several friends who also will not return now that Laura is no longer associated with this shop. There are other fabric shops in Jacksonville and a Bernina dealer in St. Augustine who is 100% better than Paula. read more

I've been to this shop a couple of times and I would recommend it to any quilter or anyone who likes to make other cotton projects with unique prints. The fabrics available are very different from the other location so if you have a chance it's good to check out both. Good selection of machines, machine parts, various quilting notions, and fabric and everyone there is always very kind. Worth noting if you're on a budget is that this shop sells very high quality fabric and it's priced accordingly - in my opinion the prices are completely fair considering the quality of the fabric (significantly nicer weight and color than big box stores' quilting cotton tends to have) but you won't find bargain bin fabric here. read more

The store is small so I wasn't expecting a huge variety of fabrics, patterns or sewing equipment like Joann Fabrics. But to be fair, I've never seen such high end sewing machines like I saw in Paula's Fine Fabrics. I had no idea that machines could cost as much as $7000!!!! Even my mom who used to be a seamstress was amazed! Lol. She's actually the reason we were in this store, but I'm actually glad I went in here because I did find small sale items I could use. Fabric I have never seen at Joann's. As I was walking around I did notice a room off to the side which looked like a classroom so I inquired about sewing classes and the cashier gave me a card with their website and told me that I would find different classes to include the prices. I'm seriously thinking about taking a class. An example of a sewing class is: Sewing 101 for $35 Fri, Feb. 9th 10:00am-4:00pm. They also have a Quilt class, Tote class, Jacket class, etc. Anywho, they also had many quilts and articles of clothing hanging in the store that were actually made from either the fabric or machine from the store. read more

As I walked into the store, I was not greeted. A couple came in and were greeted immediately and was told that they are no longer called, Paula's Fine Fabrics, but are now called,"Cinnamons". After spending 20 minutes in the store, I decided that I didn't meet their expectations and as I left, one of the people who worked there yelled out,"Goodbye!" The prices are a bit high, but if you are looking for something different than your average fabric store than maybe this store is for you. I give it 1 star and that's for the couple who came in and had a better experience than I. read more

I had made purchases from the store in the past and was very pleased. I went back a few days ago inquiring about an item I had called about and I wasn't greeted, and when I greeted the salesperson and asked about about the item I was practically brushed off and she pointed to the back of the store. I didn't see what I needed and thanked her as I was leaving - she didn't even look up. You can't always judge a book by its cover, or should I say, color. I won't be going there again read more

I know this kind of a late review..but I was going though my book marks on yelp and I remembered my visit in October! Amazing service! Went there to look for fabric and misc supplies for a costume I was making in October. The person working their was extremely helpful and even gave me a mini lesson on how to sew a skirt bottom and offered for me to come back anytime and she could show me or give me advice on sewing.(I'm a novice, I usually figure out how to make my costumes with hot glue and safety pins!) I'd say she definitely left me with a good impression of Paula's fabrics! Price wise, they more expensive than Joann's, but they seem to have a better selection of appliqués and other sewing supplies and are more knowledgeable than a big box store. Plus they are local, so you can feel good about spending your money there. Would recommend to check them out! read more

COVID 19 hits and I'm making masks nonstop. I anticipated running out of thread and ordered from a chain store online for curbside pickup. 3 days later, I find out my order was canceled and the girl on the phone said "Bye bye" in that overly cheerful way that sounded more like f-you. I found out Paula's was open for limited hours each day and when I arrived, there was only one other customer in the store and all the thread in the world! What a relief! Then, I found some amazing! oh my! My fabric was cut by a cheerful attendant, very much unlike the ladies at the chain store who don't get enough if any breaks and look like the are in Dante's inferno. The attendant gave me a punch card and I'm looking forward to returning for the most eye catching fabric in Jacksonville. Paula's is for quilters, embroiderers and specialty clothing. They had the most darling patterns for children and I was wishing I had some little ones in my life to try out some of those patterns. Whoever buys for that store has amazing taste. I will be avoiding the chain store like the plague ( har har). read more

The fabric is high quality, they have a nice selection of fabric, panels for holiday crafting, quilting, all the extras for sewing/serging and machine maintenance is offered, too! I bought my first Bernina from Paula about 30 years ago. In all those years, it has sewn beautifully. All it ever needs is cleaning and adjusting and there is never a long wait. I love that machine more than I did all those years ago. I have just invested in the Accuquilt starter set and it was the most wonderful experience. Paula and Amy worked hard to get me just what I needed, even when it involved contacting the makers. The store looks small, but the fabric selection is good and I can almost always find what I need. Paula was very nice. Everyone we met in the store was wonderful. We had an older machine to trade in. We did it during the event. She held a machine for us since we live further away. Her service tech recommended her. Glad we made her acquaintance. We really wish her store was closer! But we have a dealer in her in Jacksonville! read more

I have been a customer at Paula's since moving to Jax. I have had m machines serviced there several times. I they do an excellent job. They always call me with what the problem is, and what the cost of repairs will be. The service is very fast too. It never takes longer than a couple days to get my machine back. Paula's also carry a wide variety of materials and notions that the bigger "craft stores" do not have. The sales associates are also knowledgeable of the products they sell. read more

They have fun and informative classes for all skill levels, tons of beautiful fabrics, and notions needed to complete your projects. Paula and her employees are sometimes busy, as with any business but that isn't ruddiness. I went today and asked about the sewing classes and OMG, the lady with the bob super rude to me! "Classes are online" she screamed, I asked for more details and she was very rude and unwelcoming. Needless to say I left immediately. :( . Their fabrics are old and ugly anyway. read more

Paula's carries many nice fabrics including quilting, dress and heirloom fabrics. They also sell Bernina and Baby Lock machines. The staff is friendly there and when I've been in the shop they have always been very helpful. The fabrics are different than what you will find at any other quilt shop around town. Many modern designers to choose from including Michael Miller, Tula pink, Amy butler, Robert Kaufman etc. she also has many batiks and a nice selection of knits. If you want to purchase a new machine and have support after the sale I would suggest buying at Paulas. Her technician is usually there once a week but he services them the same day, much different than the other places that send them out to be serviced and the wait time is several weeks. read more

Absolutely the worst Bernina dealership ever! I am traveling from out of town and right in the middle of sewing my timing went out in my machine. Needed it adjusted. They only have a repair guy there IF they have enough machines. Promised me he would be there. Also needed door adjusted on brand new serger. After paying $168 for LABOR and getting machines home, the serger will no longer see and the machine was filthy and still doing exactly the same thing. I could have purchased a low end Bernette for what I paid in labor. I might mention we had a Bernina dealership in Paducah KY for six years. We NEVER tested our customers this way and NEVER charged more than $30 for labor!!!! By the way Jacksonville has over 900,000 people and that dealership should be hopping. Very very very BAD PLACE TO GO!!! read more

I have been a customer of Paula's Fine Fabrics for about 25 years. I've bought 5 sewing machines there,including embroidery machines, sergers and quilting editions. I sew clothing and quilts, and I do quite a bit of machine embroidery. Paula's is my "go to " place for all of my sewing needs. The staff is always pleasant and very helpful. I get my machines serviced there. I have taken many classes over the years and bought many yards of beautiful, quality fabrics. I highly recommend it for quality products and sewing advice and instruction. read more

I have been a Paula's Fine Fabrics customer for about a year and a half now. I have purchased two machines from them, a Baby Lock sewing/embroidery and a Bernina serger. I think it's a nice store. They have many different Baby Lock and Bernina machines on the floor. They have a good amount of fabrics in many different beautiful designs. They have several different patterns for children's clothing, bags/purses and quilt making, as well as many notions. The price of the fabric is a bit higher than box stores, but the overhead is much different for small businesses and lets face it quality fabric cost more! I think it's really important to support good dealers. Paula's is a good dealer! The customer service is good. They could be friendlier at times. However, I would not call them rude to any degree! I have never experienced rudeness there. Paula seems to value her customers to me. I came to Paula's after leaving another store in town. It was basically a vacuum store that also sold sewing machines. The store owner there was rude and unwelcoming. He didn't treat me with respect and he was condescending. After that experience I decided to check one last place, Paula's Fine Fabrics. There the atmosphere was much different! I was welcomed, respected, informed of products, and when I was ready I was able to purchase my machines. I'm about to purchase another one and when possible I plan to keep supporting Paula's! read more

I don't get why people love this place. The woman who seems to be in charge is rude. I purchased a machine there several years ago - it was a great deal on a trade in. I took the machine in for service last week. Before driving to the shop I called and asked what I needed to bring. After asking me the make and model of my machine I was given a detailed list including cord and foot pedal. When I went to drop it off an employee finally came to check me in and asked me if there was anything they needed to know about my machine. I mentioned one thing and was told I'd have to talk to a specific person. Eventually this person came over to me and said she understood that I wanted to speak to her. I repeated what I told the first person and after a variety of things I "must be doing incorrectly" she looked at me and said "so what's your question?" Most sewing machine folks are a bit quirky so I would have let it go - right up until I got the call that my service was complete. I was told that they couldn't test the embroidery module because I didn't bring a hoop. When I repeated the list of things I was told to bring - a very specific list - I was told that she was going to have to "put this back on you because you should have known that they only stock the latest machines". This is an actual quote. I don't hang out in her shop yet I was expected to know what they had on hand. She knew to tell me to bring my power cord because she "didn't think they had one" but no mention of an embroidery hoop. When I picked up my machine and commented that I thought it was interesting that she remembered to tell me to bring the power cord but not an embroidery hoop her response was to GIGGLE! I found this employee's behavior so appalling and arrogant that I will use another shop going forward. read more
