We came here on a whim, since our gym is down the street and we needed dinner before we went to exercise. This pub is part of downtown upland, so there is sporadic parking located in surrounding areas. You'd get parking in the front if you're very lucky. As we walked in, we noticed some patrons sitting outside with drinks. We walked in, and the bar area with the bartender was quite packed. So packed, we couldn't walk towards the back. Luckily, the barista announced to us there's a server in the back and self served seating. When the patrons heard that, only then did the make room for us to walk through. We seated ourselves in the back near the kitchen, where a server named Danny was sweet enough to help us out. He had gotten us two IPAs and a margarita pizza. He also let us sample an additional IPA, since we were quite torn between two. He was very sweet and humorous, so shout out to him! He made our visit amazing! As for the pizza, I wasn't very impressed. Although I liked the dough, the pizza itself was quite plain. I've had some fantastic margarita pizzas, and perhaps this wasn't it. We promised Danny that we'd be back to try a different one, because he swears by it! Overall, the decor was quite interesting. I enjoyed seeing all the street signs and the alternative rock music they had playing. We will be back, as promised, when we crave another pizza.

    Small pepperoni and jalapeño pizza

Very dope bar with even better pizza. Classic dive setting with a full kitchen. Ambiance was up for sureee. Our server was great as well

The pizza with all the meats. Husband loved it.

The good: Cheesy garlic bread and pizza loved by all. The bad: my "chicken Parmesan sandwich" the chicken inside was clearly frozen chicken tenders. Rubbery and not great. Against my advice my daughter ordered the fettuccini (she's used to Eddie's) it was so bland she didn't care to take her leftovers and neither did I. It was kind of peppery, but none of that creamy cheesy flavor, you know? Also the service was kind of nonexistent for the first 20 minutes we were there. I think they only had the bartender there and the place was pretty full. Once another waiter clocked in we were much better taken care of. It's very much a dive bar probably not the best place for a fam, but everyone was really friendly. I hear the meatball sub is good so I might get that if I go again. Stick to more basic stuff. Don't order anything fancy and it's probably fine.

O and her super cheesy pizza

I loved this place. We're finally exploring the Downtown Upland area. It's so cool and dark inside. Love the decor. Lots of t.v.s to view sports. The food was amazing. Definitely try the portabella pizza. My daughter was excited to see the gooey cheese on her pizza. We will be back to try more yummy food- if I can part from the portabella pizza. They were busy, so service was a little slow. Super friendly and kind.

We had about 26 people, and I was so concerned that I wouldn't be able to find a place that could seat us all on a Saturday evening. I emailed with Alex, the taproom manager, a little less than 2 weeks before the date I wanted, and she told me that they would be able to accommodate us! I was so incredibly relieved! After our axe throwing, we walked the VERY short walk across the street, and Alex and her staff had our tables ready to go for everyone! They made our huge group feel so welcomed and taken care of from the moment we got there! Alex explained to us that the food and drinks are ordered at the registers, which made it so easy and convenient for everyone to not have to worry about doing separate checks for a big group (that can get confusing and messy sometimes). The beers, seltzers, and food were all incredible!!! Even the most particular people in our group raved about how good everything was, and trust me when I say, that is a high compliment! The staff were absolutely incredible as well! They were so knowledgeable about the beers, so patient with our big group, and were just so helpful and kind! Everyone is still talking about how great everything was, and I'm truly so grateful to Alex and the rest of the staff at Rescue Brewing for making my husband's birthday so amazing!! We appreciate you all so much, and we can't wait to come back soon!

I must say, the brewery really stands out with their bright and appealing logo out front. When we went in, the place was packed, but we were able to find a table for the four of us. To our surprise, they didn't just have a huge beer selection--they also offered a large variety of seltzers and cocktails for anyone who wasn't in the mood for beer. I decided to try the Tart of War, and my taste buds were in for a pleasant surprise. This sour beer had delicious notes of strawberry, pineapple, coconut, and vanilla. The brewery had a lot of TVs, which was perfect because I was able to catch the Lakers game that night. The bartenders were super friendly and worked efficiently, even with such a large crowd. The 90's alternative rock playing in the background had all of us nodding along. Overall, we had a fantastic time and will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu. They also seem to have a happy hour on Wednesdays from 6-9 PM with food and drink specials, which is definitely worth checking out.

Service was slow and inattentive the whole time, from seating to when they were around to take our order or drop off an item, they were never friendly or courteous. They seemed annoyed having to work. This location of Back Abbey in Upland is in the Colonies area, in the same plaza as Albertson, European Wax Center, and Massage Envy. When I pulled up I was genuinely happy that this location was much larger than their original Claremont location. They have tables, a bar area, and a large outdoor patio. There were many tv screens for the sports fan. I actually liked the décor and had positive hopes for this place. When I looked at their menu I was happy to see the menu grow since my last encounter with their original Claremont location. Once again, I was excited for the business and genuinely wanted to support them. I was narrowing down what to order and I even imagined coming back to try other items. My boyfriend had the Back Abbey Burger ($20) and I was mistakenly excited to see the beer cheese so I got the Soft Pretzel ($10). We also shared a Pomme Frites (half $9/full $11) and went all out with the full cause it's a better deal. My boyfriend also got a Coke ($4). I was asking the waitress about the sangria but their version doesn't have edible fruits, so I was less interested. Honestly if she was more friendly I would have gotten something else. I just got water. THE ONLY THING WE ENJOYED IS THE POMME FRITES. I remember liking these from their Claremont location. Fresh cut and super crispy as they double fry it in duck fat. Yummmm. My boyfriend said his burger was okay but he didn't like the aged gouda which affected every bite of the burger. Ugh now let me get to the pretzel. The saddest pretzel in all of the lands. I was soo excited for this... anddd COLD BEER CHEESE!! Whatttttttt??? Honestly I wanted to ask staff if it was meant to be cold but they were no were in sight. We were waiting sooooo long to wave someone down for the check. If service was faster at least I can be annoyed and leave and get over it. They were so slow it left me to stew in my annoyance of the unsatisfying depressing pretzel. Also, neither the coke or the waters were refilled. When we were FINALLY able to wave someone down, it was still a while to get the check. We also for a togo container FOR THE FRIES. She can see the majority of the pretzel was uneaten and I made it a point to say I didn't care to take it togo. Of course she didn't care to ask any follow up questions. Food being bad is one thing... I could have always came back to try the duck confit or steamed mussels like I intended but the service made me soooooooooo miserable waiting around. I don't have time for this.

The blue cheese burger I wished were a bit stronger in blue cheese flavor (as a person who loves lots of blue cheese), but the burger was definitely filling for both the eyes and the tummy. The only thing I wished is that the burger didn't feel as heavy/greasy, but if that were the case, I probably wouldn't have chosen a burger. That said, the grease did feel like it took away from the flavors, making the burger tasting milder than I had wanted. That said, it was very enjoyable overall. The dog menu was surprisingly different from what I've seen. It was surprisingly healthy looking with the amount of vegetables they added to my dog's bowl including some Brussels sprouts. There was no rice at all, which was fine for me since my dog doesn't really like rice. Unfortunately, he is so picky, so he picked out the chicken from the vegetables even with me pre-mixing it, and I think the vegetables are too firm to his liking. However, I appreciate the food being healthy and the portions, even if he himself will not really eat most of it. I'm sure some other dog will do a lot better with the bowl!
