Had a great time at Pauli's. Our bartender, Katie, was really cool and attentive. We got there right at open, 2pm on a Thursday, it wasn't that busy, but we had a good time anyway. We loved the draft beer selection, some great craft beers...I recommend Sam Adams Cold Snap. The keno was a fun addition to the afternoon too. We were super casual, but I'd dress up more if I went at night or on the weekend. That day, there were a couple other small groups in and out, and they all seemed to be having fun. We are from Chicago, so the Cubs license plates wall was really something awesome to see outside of Chicago. The reason I didn't give it a full five stars was the seating. There are a lot of lounge style table, low rolling chairs...I'm 6'0" and that was a bit uncomfortable, so it wasn't my favorite. Next time I'd sit at the high tops by the windows...as long as it isn't a windy winter day. read more

WHAT ABOUT BOB If you come here to drink, you will constantly hear this, "Bob! Bob! Hey Bob! BOB!" from all of the customers. It gets even more rapid around 1am as the customers get more and more saucy. This is the moment when time and space slow down in the minds of a drinker. Bob is the owner and bartender at Pauli's and by 2am he's the most popular guy in the room. He kind of reminds me of Norm from Cheers. I should have started yelling Norm to confuse all the drunk people in the bar. I'll have to try that on my next visit. This place is a true bar. It is the kind of place where you get a shot and a beer. There's no food in here except for the free popcorn machine tucked away in the corner of the bar. There's nothing like some warm salty popcorn to go along with your drinks. I was taking it easy after a long day at work and enjoyed a couple of Angry Orchard Ciders on tap. I must commend Bob on his pour system because the cider was ice cold. In fact it was the best Angry Orchard has ever tasted to me. This product needs to be served ice cold to bring out the crispness of the apples. I did feel like I was in a Las Vegas lounge. We were in the back and we were elevated above the main floor. The floor even had carpeting and we were sitting in leather lounge chairs that had wheels. I even saw a keno board in the background. I was just missing the flashing lights and the dinging sounds of slot machines. We all dived in to our free salty popcorn like we had not seen food in days. Actually we were starving because we had worked all day and we never had a proper meal since breakfast at the hotel. I decided to make a move and order two pizzas from another place. The delivery guy walked in with two hot pizzas and all of the drunk kids in the bar tried to attack the guy. It was kind of funny. He had my two pizzas securely tucked in his warming bag but that didn't stop the crazy kids. Luckily he didn't have the boxes open or my pizzas might have not made it back to me. The delivery guy then walked right up to me and said, "Anthony!" How did he know I was the pizza ordering guy? He picked me out of a crowded bar full of drunk people and walked right up to me. I laid the pizza's on the bar and our group dived in. We even offered some to Bob but he did not jump in. As I was sitting at the bar, I noticed that there was a wall of old car license plates that all had some kind of Chicago Cubs sayings printed on them. I then realized I was in a Cubs bar in Omaha. How cool was that? I asked Bob about it and he told me how crazy his bar was during the Cubs 2016 postseason run including Game 7 of the World Series. I was really starting to like Bob and his bar. It is not often that you find yourself on the road and in a place that has your back. I would totally rock my Cubs shirt inside this place on my next visit. So if you find yourself in Omaha and need a drink then this is the place. Do not expect food unless you can make a meal out of popcorn. I was really happy with my experience. Bob did a great job running the bar by himself. Patrons yelled his name and Bob made his way over as soon as he could. He kept the whole place running. I loved the fact that Bob let me have food delivered. He could have said no to our pizza craving. We felt right at home and when we are in the area we will totally be back here. Pauli's is okay in some areas, bathrooms are always very clean! Service was so so, honestly the place is small maybe fitting 50 people comfortably. So one would assume it'd be full service but no. Almost very time we needed a drink we had to get up and walk to the bar. Which i am okay with if that's they operate and it was busy, but that's not the case we were 3 out of maybe a dozen people in there; Also we usually go and watch football there during the day and we always get full service then? I am not a huge fan of Inconsistencies. No food but you can bring what ever you like in. read more

I like coming here instead of DJs because it's not to loud and you can still chat while a game is on. The beer tastes good and the glasses smell clean. Been there multiple times. Evening Bartender has zero personality. Can barely answer questions about draft beer tastes. You will be lucky if he leaves the bar and approaches your table. 2 weeks in a row they were out of 312 tap beer which was in the draft menu. Asked about a drink menu and he replied, "screw the menu". Manager/owner might want to evaluate his performance. It's a total turn- off. From now on, Will walk a few extra steps and go to Spirit World. read more

The next generation Pauli's recently opened (Nov 13, 2015) in Aksarben Village on the NE corner of the PacLife building, and wants to be the Village's neighborhood bar. The don't serve food but Dudley's next door will deliver to your table. They are supposed to have a Beer Garden, but that will have to wait until next Spring it looks like. I don't think they have advertised that they are open yet. There were just a few people here, but once people get used to this place, it should be hopping! It has the feel of a trendy bar (it certainly is much cleaner and higher end than the former Pauli's on Leavenworth), with quite a few televisions, but not so much a Sports Bar. read more

The beer lines are extremely clean. All 3 beers I had were the perfect mix of temperature and taste. Seriously a great place for the perfect beer. The atmosphere is awesome. While not the busiest place when off event nights from Baxter (true for all Aksarben bars) it is very clean and great sight lines for sporting events. The staff was quick, attentive and friendly. Went once. Won't return. My friend asked me to come join him and his coworkers. They frequent Paulis and that was made clear by the waitress. She gave them decent service and was friendly to them. She forgot my beer first time. Got that eventually. Asked for the second beer. Never got. My friend ordered tequila. She brought us fireball and the ticket and basically said that was on the ticket and left us at that so we drank antifreeze instead of Don Julio. No food here but they'll provide a Dudley's menu you can order from to have it delivered to your table. For a supposed "Cubs" bar, they struggle to make game nights a priority. Had to ask several times to put the Cubs game on and they just looked confused. Juke box blasts during the game which just shouldn't be allowed. Again, if you're a Cubs bar, make it a priority. Comfortable seating, good beer specials, Old Style on tap, other good selections of tap beer. One of the bar tenders was drunk, came to our table to chat about the Cubs, and had a difficult time completing sentences. It's not really a sports bar. The TV's are set up to get a great view of sporting events from a variety of seats. Yesterday they had a great variety of sports on TV's. Cubs game, Yankees game, NFL draft, MMA, track, & others. This bar is really nice if you want a beer where it's quiet enough to talk to your friends. I always study at PKI so it's nice that there's a nice bar near by. The bartender is really nice and even knows our drinks now. I don't even need to tell him I need a Carona with lime he just gets one out for me. read more

Thought this was a Cubs bar? Nothing like the old place on Leavenworth, not that I expected the same old school feel and friendly neighborhood service, but this was as generic as it gets. Have to call in a food order to a neighboring restaurant if you want to eat, have your credit card ready when you call. Service was slow and matter of fact, not welcoming.
