I only know Paulo and Bill by its brunch buffet, which is fantastic. It's not a huge dining room, but the restaurant does well with what it has. The brunch buffet is set up long the inner wall and features a good assortment of food. You'll get breakfast items such as bagels, scrambled eggs, Benedicts, bacon and biscuits and gravy. You'll also get lunch items with an Italian twist like salmon, lasagna, chicken picatta and even macaroni and cheese. Dessert is in the bar. It's good and quite filling. Service is top notch. My server has always been hands on, attentive and very quick to let us know about a mimosa drink special. I recommend coming early because it fills up quick, especially after church lets out. The beginning of the buffet also will bottleneck a bit with people waiting for a table which can cause delays. read more

Below is an email that I sent to Paulo and Bill after a food delivery from them on my birthday just over a week ago. To date, I have heard NOTHING. No emails, no phone call - NOTHING. Sunday brunch... Venturing out to enjoy a Sunday brunch today we found ourselves at Paulo and a Bills. We were able to get seated right away. We overheard several staff members state it was a slow day. Lucky for us I guess, no lines. The buffet style brunch is $20.95 for adults. With that you enjoy everything from lasagna, eggs benidict, french toast, fruit, pizza and more. The dessert area is pretty impressive and features a chocolate fountain. They also have cheesecake, brownies, carrot cake and other delectable delights. Overall pretty good selection but slightly overpriced for the food. Biscuits and cinnamon rolls were hard as a rock, which was disappointing. read more

My cousin and her family were in town for the evening, so 8 of us walked over here from her hotel. We'd made a reservation and were promptly seated. The hostess was nice and we liked the décor. It could use a bit of freshening up but it was kind of that classic Italian family restaurant style- cozy and comforting with paneled & wallpapered walls and nice sound-blocking partitions between the booths and tables. We all liked our food, but nothing really wowed us. The garlic bread appetizer was the best part of the meal, and the kids enjoyed their brownie desserts. The chocolate mousse cake dessert was totally tasteless though- like eating cardboard. My daughter & I shared the lasagna and I appreciated that they split it for us onto 2 plates before bringing it out- always love when restaurants do that. Such a helpful, polite touch. Our waitress was very sweet, but very nervous and disorganized. My cousin's daughter asked her for 'Sprite without ice' 2 times and she brought it with ice. Then later on, she refilled her Sprite glass with water. I told her that was actually her Sprite glass & the waitress apologized saying she'd bring her another glass of Sprite. I said 'without ice please' and she said 'of course.' And yep you guessed it- she delivered it with ice. My cousin's daughter joked 'what do I have to say to get it without ice?' It was funny, but frustrating. The waitress also brought out one appetizer, the garlic bread, and not the other, the baked Brie. The Brie finally came, but it was disappointing. Not warm enough and served with really cheap, bland bread. We'd been eating our main courses for awhile, and the waitress finally brought my cousin's Caesar salad, which she'd ordered as a starter. There was just obviously a breakdown in communication and timing with the kitchen and staff. 5 star all the way! This was not my first dining experience here, but it was my husband's first visit. We decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a little early. I like the decor and vibe at this restaurant, and everyone from the hostess to the waiter and servers were very friendly, attentive, and provided great service. They started with bread and oil. I have celiacs so I could not partake in this deliciousness. When I ordered my gluten-free mealtime waiter actually apologized for serving the bread, I assured him that my husband would enjoy it, and he did. We then split a spinach salad which was very tasty and just the right size. My husband had the angel hair pasta with shrimp, and has enough pasta to last for at least one or possibly two more meals. When you come to this restaurant, you will find a relaxed environment and outstanding food. My favorite is Paulo's chicken salad because of the coconut breaded chicken. The lasagna is the best in town. No meal is complete without a side order of the house special bruschetta. If you are hosting the dinner gathering with friends, there is a separate part of the restaurant which allows for a more intimate discussion. I ordered a pasta dish with chicken and mushrooms and it was horrible. The chicken was so tough that it was inedible. Our waitress did not inform us that we could get bread with our meal until we asked, and then when she brought it, it was cold and moldy. I am not even kidding. The bread had mold on it. My wife and I shared a Happy Hour birthday dinner at P & B's last night and it could not have been more enjoyable. We travel quite a bit and always search out "non-chain" establishments like P & B's. We have eaten at P & B's many times and their consistent quality is remarkable. Forest, our waiter last night whom we have not met previously was as good as any waiter/waitress we've ever had, and we've eaten at a LOT of high-quality restaurants. He was attentive and charming but not TOO attentive and charming if you know what I mean. For those in KC/JOCO who've not tried Paulo & Bills, we highly recommend this quality restaurant. It came out really fast, so it obviously wasn't made to order and it looked like it had been sitting in a pan most of the day. $22 for an order of lasagna and it comes with NOTHING! No bread of any kind and no salad. For $22 for one order of lasagna, you would think they could, at the very least, include a bread stick or two! The restaurant is dingy and needs a good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint! This review is for Sunday brunch only. I've been here for lunch, dinner, and now brunch for the 2nd time. I have no idea what is going on, but it was no where near the level it was last time I visited. The day started with having to wait for the server to arrive. From that point on, the service was adequate. The food was not. Chicken piccata was diced, over cooked grilled chicken. Absolutely zero lemon or caper flavors. Mac n cheese tasted like yellow processed cheese. Lasagna was luke warm and was certainly not made that day. Prime rib was not juicy, and had no flavor. Seemed to be made earlier and reheated in the pizza oven, as I saw a cook put one in and take one out. The worst part...who on earth puts eggs Benedict on a hamburger bun? Wish I was joking. Eggs Benedict on the top bun of a hamburger bun instead of an english muffin? Ridiculous. Dessert options were ok. Nothing stood out. In an amazing display of generosity, I have given this site four stars. Yes, four. I know I said I was conserving stars, lest the future hold some sort of mutant war, where Yelp stars will be bartered as currency, yet Paulo and Bill was wonderful, with only several minor fobiles. We had reservations for 12:30, as my aged father unit felt 10:30 church would not be over until 12:15 (a scary thought), but happily, we were finished by 11:45. I called the restaurant; we were quite graciously moved up to a noon reservation. Could this man read my mind? The buffet is quite plentiful - hot foods are such, while cold foods are served correctly. The only glitch I had was with the prime rib. The first hunk (yes, I said hunk) I had tasted more like roast beef, and it actually looked roast beefy. The second piece I had was so bloody people in my party gave it a dubious look, and reminded me we were not too far from a hospital. I will admit, I usually like my beef still mooing, yet this meat could have easily walked up to my plate and laid down. And yes, if you are wondering, I still ate it. And lived long enough to write this review. One part I didn't particularly like was walking around tables located on the buffet floor. I kept wondering if I would mistakenly slip, thus causing my plate of many foods to fall upon an unsuspecting patron's lap. Life not being a sitcom, this would not produce laughs, but rather, possible screams and lawsuits. The horrors. I was almost too afraid to go back and visit the chocolate fountain, conveniently located near to mini cheesecakes and bread pudding. Paola and Bills has been around for 15+ years and don't know when ownership changed from PB&J to the new ownership, but the food seems like it's stayed the same, very good. The open layout, with bar and kitchen areas sit to the left, while the dining area sits to the right of the hostess area. Ample seat is available for small and large parties, it looks like they are updating the wall colors, as several areas had multiple colors of paint. I may have noticed more that others, but all the PB&J restaurants were known for their unique interior design, as one of the partners had a design background. We started with their garlic bread, which used to have roasted bulbs of garlic, that came out as paste, OMG, if you're a garlic fan, it was the best I've ever had. It is still very good, as it's a pesto, garlic clove mix. We sampled the chicken salad, pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, and seafood pasta, all were very good, nice sized portions, great flavor, and attentive service. Not too many people know that this was one of the first places that me and my mother discovered and we celebrated many Mother's Day and my mom's birthday celebrations at. So this place means a lot to me no matter what service I may get or treatment I receive it will always be sentimental. With that being said I was in the area on work related business and I knew I was going to be getting home too late to cook so I was really seeking a sit down meal that was already prepared. I didn't want burgers and chicken and fries I really wanted a meal when I remembered I was in the area of Paulo and Bill I got excited because I hadn't been there since 2009 Mother's Day. The parking lot was packed which sometimes can be very surprising considering where it's actually located . Unfortunately the restaurant cannot be seen from the major highway that it sits near. the way it is hidden and tucked away between other restaurants and a movie theater, if you don't know the area, you will not find it. I think the congested parking lot clearly suggested either people already know of the restaurant or they live in the area. When I walked in, it was like being taken back in time to many of the celebrations that we had with my mom. There hasn't been too much physical change to the restaurant it's still pretty much looks the same. It Has a semi romantic dimly lit look to it. It was kind of hard to see the customers because of the social distancing and I was at the front of the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and they gave me three menus to look at which usually in most restaurants we only received one menu. I chose the chefs trio. My food was fixed very quickly I did not have to wait very long. When I got home and I tasted the food it tasted really good, but there was a certain wow factor that their food used to have that they kind of lost a little bit through the years. I don't know whether management has changed From the last time that we visited there but I don't remember the meals being as pricey as they are now. This may have to do simply with the pandemic and trying to recoup a lot of losses I get that, but considering that I paid $35 for the meal that I received ...although tasty it really wasn't worth $35. But it was hot, fresh and it was flavorful and it was given to me with a friendly smile and that's pretty much all that I need to be completely satisfied. I can deal with a little price tag increase if everything else puts a smile on my face. We have been going here for years. The service is friendly and fast. The special brunch buffets are top notch. The sauces on steaks and fish are excellent. The fish is always cooked better than any place, moist and flaky. Sunday brunch is a god send with great food from the menu, reasonable price and not noisy. And that's really a shame! We loved this place! We were here last about 2 weeks ago. My husband ordered the fish special, which was tuna, and it was raw. Legitimately raw. He had to send it back and thankfully they didn't charge us for his plate. The crab cakes were mushy and burnt. The avocado they serve with them was brown. We are just checking out restaurants around where we live so walked into Paulo and Bill. I was immediately surprised how "fancy" the inside is considering its in a plaza with hair salons, liquor stores, etc. We decided to try their calamari as an appetizer and we weren't too impressed. Nothing special and it was a little cold. I tried the Chef's Trio which is a special they have on certain days and the Chef cooks three different entrees for one plate. It had fish, steak and shrimp. Beautifully presented but I thought it wasn't anything special. The ingredients were high quality but tasted a bit bland and one tone. The Garlic Bread was basically like Texas toast bread. The garlic was in whole cloves, so you have to crush it and spread it with your knife on the bread. Shortly after that, our main courses showed up. Great timing. The plating on the veil looked absolutely well done. My pizza came on a large pan. Surprisingly they give you a lot of food for the money. I was expecting a smaller more personal sized pizza. The pizza was a bit too spicy for me. I was thinking well probably not hotter than medium? If I was to post everything that happened today it would be a really really long post. I do not recommend. To make the story as short as possibly - we went to have dinner here for my dads 57th birthday. We had a party of about 15. When we got there no one was there but us and a few couples. That's it. We sit down place our orders. Took about a hour to get our food out. When the food finally came to our table they only had half of the tables order. They said the rest is coming out shortly. It didn't come out for another 30 minutes. Everyone was done with their food before it all came out. The guy who manages this place is really short tempered. I understand everyone has their bad days every now and then but wow! Food wasn't good and it was expensive. I'll take myself to a restaurant who can actually take care of their guests next time. There was so much attitudes from the servers the whole time. There was a really nice lady taking care of us who was really considerate and agreed with our frustration. She should be managing this place honestly. She showed more professionalism then both managers combined. Terrible service the whole night. My Dad was disappointed our whole family and my Dads close friends were all disappointed. We didn't let this TERRIBLE dining out ruin our night tho. We are not willing to give this place another try. I would classify this restaurant as a fine dining restaurant that caters to families. They are great with kids it is definitely a family environment however the food is at a stellar level. Everyone is very welcoming and accommodating. We started with the goat cheese bruschetta. It was a plate of goat cheese, a sun-dried tomato spread ,caramelized onions ,roasted red peppers and blistered tomatoes. Only changes I would make is I would not put cheese on the bread because it takes away from the toppings and I would add some roasted garlic. The Viva salad was dressed perfectly with mozzarella cheese Kalamata olives and peppercini. Smoked chicken lasagna it was huge and I took half of it home. Tremendous smoked flavor and filled with chicken. It was a great change from your traditional lasagna. Husband had the blue cheese fillet with roasted potatoes and asparagus all cooked perfect. Arrived at 7:30, prime time on a Friday night to find very few patrons. Seated right away. Server was kind and prompt, but the kitchen lost our appetizer ticket and we were left waiting for a little while. No biggie and the appetizer was comped by the server who explained and apologized; again-- kind server. The food was more than disappointing. Our appetizer was the goat cheese bruschetta. The bread was soft, pillowy, white bread with little crust. It reminded me of sandwich bread. I was expecting a baguette as this is what bruschetta is typically served with. The onion jam was great, but definitely not worth it. Our main courses arrived halfway through the appetizer. On a slow Friday night, we felt rushed for no reason. Pro-tip: don't drop the ticket for a main course when the appetizer was delayed and only just landed on the table. Oh well. She had the pecan crusted salmon with red potatoes and spinach. Salmon was cooked well, but sauced pretty heavy. I had tortellini, and was very disappointed. The bacon had a peculiar, strong artificial flavor that permeated the entire dish. The pasta was very overlooked, nearly mush. The cream sauce was relatively bland. The peas were sweet and crisp; good flavor. I scraped the bacon away and tried my best to enjoy despite knowing I had grossly overpaid for a very poorly executed dish. I returned to the wonder bread appetizer. At least my date was happy. There's a reason why a restaurant is dead on a Friday night. It's lower quality than Olive Garden, but with much larger markup.
