Located of a main road tucked in a nondescript shopping center you'll find Paul's Bakery a hidden gem in the Fredericksburg area. Inside you'll find a very cozy mom and pop shop where you can find all sorts of treats from pies cakes cookies and especially donuts. I was sent this location from someone in the area for a request of donuts but when I got there I decided to try a little bit of everything. Donuts are delicious and taste fresh and their chocolate chip cookies are very good with the homemade feel. Service is exactly what you'll expect where the clientele are asking for the owner by name. Definitely recommend if you're in the area

Delicious donuts with a friendly smile at a dry warm and inviting location that smells like sweet dreams. Ordered dozen donuts and highlight that any specialty donuts such as the maple bacon donut come with a small upcharge to the dozen but very much worth it. The lady attending us was very patience as we were just trying to pick it all in our dozen but never rushed us and ensured we got all we wanted. Ordered my coffee and she also advised it comes with a complimentary choice of glazed or cinnamon donut holes that made it that much more sweeter. Absolutely a must if you're in the area and a stapleton in this community. Happy to have stopped by and try this location.

We pre ordered 36 cupcakes for our parents 50th wedding anniversary gathering. These cupcakes were so delicious and very squishy. I added different color edible glitter to make them all sparkly and added the toothpick 50th anniversary signs. The cupcakes were ready for pickup on time. Ordering wasn't the easiest process because we wanted to make some changes and customize the flavors. There were something's we wished we could change but the pick up was smooth and on time. People know Paul's bakery and have been a staple of the community for many many years.

Got a half dozen assorted donuts and they are incredible! Service was exceptional! Such a local gem :)

The most delicious donuts ever. They're so soft and fluffy and that chocolate frosting is like a dreamy pillow of goodness. Even the frosting is fluffy. Idk how they do it, but it's delightful. My mom bought all the apple fritters they had today, which was 11. She planned on getting two dozen, but we came later in the morning and that's all they had left. She also got two brownies and two cream filled donuts. I also got two brownies and two cream filled donuts. The cream filling doesn't really taste like anything so that's the only complaint but who cares when the rest of the donut tastes so good. Service is very friendly and the shop is always clean. It smells like yummy baked goods. We always make it a point to come here whenever we're nearby.

Pre-COVID trip to Paul's during an early donut day.

My family has been going to Paul's for about 10 years for our weekly Friday "Donut Day". When on travel, we try the rest, but come back to the best. Definitely worth a small detour off I-95 to this Fredericksburg institution.

"Why did I not visit sooner?" Please ask yourself this question once you check it out because I sure did after visiting Paul's. Situated in a non-descript plaza, this bakery is a hidden gem that takes you back to the olden days. Most donut shops these days throw lots of stuff onto their donuts but Paul's keep it real: plain, dipped, filled. Nothing fancy, just outright delicious donuts. The place is busy, so get ready to order as soon as you walk in the door or step to the side because the folks behind the counter want to keep things moving. There's plenty of parking and they are closed on Sunday and Monday. They open super early and close early, so definitely watch the time. Public service announcement: buy a dozen and take them to work; your coworkers will thank you.

Barely spoke English but I was able to understand her. She took my payment over the phone and I gave her my order. When I came to get the food it was still very warm so as I got to my car I wanted to try one but it was too greasy so I wanted until I got home because I didn't have napkins. I didn't think nothing of it because I had just got them. BUT as I got home & the grease was so much i guess as I was driving some spilled out onto my trunk carpet. Now I'll have to end up cleaning grease out of my trunk (luckily it's a plastic liner). I have never seen this much grease in Tamales. Usually I make them but I had surgery so I couldn't. I took each Tamale out & put them on paper towels. Paper towels were soaked with Lard. So I had to do it again. Again the paper towels got soaked. At the bottom of the container I was able to get over 1 cup of lard/grease. I left the Tamales on the towels to get the grease off. Over night I wanted some so bad I just ate 4. It was so greasy I got sick to my stomach (sharp pains all day & night) & couldn't go (poop) for days cuz the grease. I paid $78 for them & had to end up throwing them away cause it was too greasy. I have never seen so much Lard. The photos attached is just before I put them in the trash. And a day of having them on paper towels to get the grease off. Each one was saturated with lard. This ruined my Christmas cause I was sick to my stomach for days. & was not able to celebrate like we usually do with Tamales on Christmas.

Today, they didn't really have that many food options. They mentioned that they were doing this because of the weather. However, the patrons that flooded into the place would potentially advertise that they were actually quite busy. I was not super impressed with the options ,as a vegetarian, I was hoping that there would be at least one quiche or breakfast option that didn't have meat out of the 3 options. I was also quite disappointed that they didn't have any of their breakfast wraps, which seemed to take over their food feed on yelp. I opted for the egg salad sandwich as it was the only food item I could eat. My biggest complaint was definitely the service. I ordered a food option and a coffee drink, and the barista made everyone else's food in line behind me before even making my coffee. It was obvious that she kept running around to grab additional items that should have been stocked before the store was open. If you are in a rush, this is definitely not a spot to grab something. Above and beyond this, there is a sign at the front that says they can't print out receipts, which is something that in my mind is not OK. Overall, the food that we had was really good. I was 0% impressed with the coffee. I always find it very strange when an iced drink comes in a paper cup without a straw. We were not given utensils for both of our food items, just one, and there were so many customers that I just decided to use a knife to eat what fell out of my sandwich.

He is an avid health nut and doesn't like to consume gluten. I only saw basic chocolate or vanilla gluten free cups cakes and noticed many patrons visiting the refrigerator for pre made treats. They had many more options in there vs what was on display. I was in a rush so from what I was able to view they had mint chocolate, key lime, and chocolate banana cream cupcakes. I decided on the chocolate banana cream. I want to first point out that my boyfriend LOVED the pack of 3 I purchased him. He thought they were delicious. However I'm a little dissatisfied that they were labeled as chocolate banana cream... when the only banana element was the one piece of banana they placed on top for decoration. There wasn't any other element of banana in the cupcake nor any element of a cream. I may be back because even though the banana was completely missing, he enjoyed the rich dark chocolate flavor of the entire cupcake.
