Spoke to this gentleman about setting up an estimate for some landscaping services. Seemed like a very nice gentleman over the phone. He shows up to our house on time, I had texted him that I was running late. What happened during this visit was completely bizarre. He goes around the house saying, "this is wrong!" and "who did this?" He then tells my wife that he is leaving and that I can call him. After 10 minutes, I call and there is no answer. He did not even offer any type of explanation that might have been useful to us, nor did he mention what was "wrong." He has every right to refuse a job, but the way he conducted himself was unprofessional. I actually took time out of my busy schedule to write this (and I very rarely write reviews). read more

In addition, during the project, his crew offered suggestions to improve the result. They were always on time and worked an entire day. Nightly, they would clean off the sidewalks and driveway. We had a problem with our irrigation timer, that was already installed, which cause a few dead spots in the sod because the water wasn't coming on. I have very mixed feelings about these guys. On one hand, they did a pretty decent job (I didn't really like the weed wacker to the rose bushes though) and were decent on communication but on the other hand they are too expensive. Paul showed up quickly for an estimate after we had to let our gardeners before him go. My first problem with him was he liked to assume what we could afford. Last I checked, he doesn't know anything about our finances so when we talked about future renovations his "oh, but you can't afford this" comments were unnecessary. But we looked past it. He quoted $180 to do front and back, which seemed not too bad but definitely higher than the last. We took into consideration his pictures and reviews on Google and decided to stick with him. Well, at first it started out amazing but then we ran into problems such as them not trimming our roses or not coming certain days. Now, Paul insists on prepaid business, so we pay before we find out if they even do what they're supposed to do. Turns out if your maintenance day falls on a holiday or if it rained/ some other natural event occurs, they don't reschedule, they just don't come (no notification either) and you still pay for it. I found that ridiculous for the price we were paying. We did get them to reschedule most of the time, I kind of think he agrees that's not right. Let's fast forward a year or two. We decorate heavily for Halloween and had decorations on the front lawn. Well, his guys didn't pay attention and ended up cutting a cord to a $40 prop. Naturally he had to come see so we left everything as it was and after trying to pin the blame on someone else, his solution was to splice the wires and put them back together with electrical tape. Again, not taking responsibility for his guys actions. Should have been done then, hind sight is 20/20. Moving forward. So, Paul has a way of doing business where during winter (maybe Autumn too) they only come every other week and they split the bill in half. Not a big deal really, until, we had them stop doing the backyard (our grass died off) and he was supposed to cut our bill in half since he was only doing the front yard now. Instead, he wanted to still charge $110 and when it came to winter was still charging $90. This is were our business came to an end. That's absolutely ridiculous. And when I called to talk to him his excuse was something about raising prices because at the time California started a new tax or something with employee benefits so to keep his employees his customers had to make up the difference. Maybe I could have accepted this if he had talked to us but to just start charging us more without explanation is wrong. Lastly, at some point before we stopped using these guys, they killed our roses out front. Now, these roses were doing fine until they cut them so far down they didn't grow back. They did the same with another bush out front that to this day has still not recovered. I had talked to Paul when I realized the bushes were dying. He looked at his pictures (they take pictures after their work) and said he would replace them. He did end up replacing them, although not too happy about it, and then later tells me it's our soil that killed them. Which I don't quite understand his reasoning for only the rose bushes and 1 other plant dying when there are many plants in the same area and just the ones his guys cut too much were impacted by this soil contamination. I think Paul is a good guy, his business tactics I'm not so sure about. I think after 3-4 years (I can't remember how long we had him but we have had this new gardener for about a year now and he does amazing work for less than half what these guys charge) we chose to part ways, especially when we found out just how much these guys overcharge to just cut the grass and occasionally a rose bush or two. Some side notes: at the time we had them working for us, Paul was pretty decent with emergencies. There were a couple times our backyard flooded ane he came out asap one time and walked me through it the other. Also, I'd have to say about 90% of the time he's pretty good about answering back an email or call. read more

Had our yard completely redone. Pulled all the existing lawn, replaced part of the lawn in the rear and had the rest covered in rock. They helped with the design and contoured the front with mounds. We are very particular and wanted some larger rocks so we picked those ourselves. They helped place the rocks where we wanted. Couldn't be happier. The front turned out better than we thought with a lighted flagstone path and all the plants. When some of the sod went bad they came back and replaced. Everyone was polite and the job was handled professionally. I highly recommend Paul and his crew. read more

We were recommended Paul by some friends who raved about his work. We met with a number of landscapers but decided on Paul and his team quickly. They did not disappoint, they helped us navigate the whole process, listened carefully to our vision. While I knew exactly what I didn't want I had no idea what I wanted, Paul and Russell were great helping design our front yard. Russell was very knowledgeable and worked with me patiently to ensure we got the front yard we were looking forward to. Once the project started Paul communicated effectively what the timeline would be and ensured we stayed on track. The whole tram were professional and hard working. Our front yard was completed early January, a couple of weeks post completion we had a flood at the front of our house, thinking it was related to the yard we reached out to Paul, it was 8pm on a Saturday evening. He was at our house within 15 mins, helping trouble shoot what was happening. It turned out to be a burst pipe in the street but Paul's response and support were amazing. I am not a person who posts reviews often, so when I do post a review, it is a real testimony to the appreciation I feel for a job that fully exceeds expectations. We hired Paul, Russell, Elias, and team three times as we worked through the various phases of our landscaping on a new construction home we purchased in Heritage Lake. First, we had them beautify the front yard, and then we did two separate projects in the backyard. Our first experience with Paul and team was over two years ago and our front yard has stood the test of time, and has continued to mature beautifully! The last project was completed this past fall, and the results are amazing. The differentiator with Paul's Landscaping is that they include in their service the most talented plant expert, Russell, who actually helps make recommendations that align with the customer's vision, AND includes plants that are best suited for the climate we live in. I can't tell you how many landscapers we met with who gave us the famous line "you pick the plants and we'll plant them", or if we wanted a more professional vision, they were eager to recommend design services that would add another $1000 to the process. Paul, Russell, Elias, and the talented team make this process so much easier than everyone else!! Altogether, they did turf, drip system, lighting, stepping stones, mul ch, rock, and over 120 plants and trees that transformed our space into our little paradise. I'd give the customer service that Paul delivers 5 stars if I could, but the 1 star is dedicated to guys who maintain our landscaping. They do a horrible job! We have emailed Paul numerous times this past year to complain about his crew skipping our weekly visits, ignoring our planters (which we pay them to maintain), and doing the bare minimum to scoot by each week. This year, I've had to call more than once about weeds in my lawn and planters, and best of all, two dead bushes and a tree that they ignored week after week. I pay for full service maintenance, but all I get is a cut and blow each week. My planters full of weeds, unruly bushes that haven'be been trimmed in months, and trash that has found it's wan in there is unacceptable! I enjoy working with Paul. His customer service is outstanding. But once he turns the work over to his yard crews, the level of service goes quickly downhill. Paul's Landscape Services is a great choice for your initial landscape design, however for extended yard maintenance plans, you should probably go somewhere else. read more

Contacted Paul on 8/6/2015 for a backyard landscaping installation estimate. He came out on 8/10/2015 to bid the job. He appeared very professional and knowledgable and I got a great vibe from him. He advised me he had 8 other estimates to write before mine and said it would be a week at most to receive the estimate. Well, it's 8/24/2015 (14 days later, that's more than a week unless I've lost the ability to count) and I've received zero estimate, zero contact from him and zero follow up. Why come and measure just to drop the ball and never give me an estimate? Guess he has the luxury of picking and choosing which bids to write, sorry our job didn't make the cut. If he's this difficult to obtain an estimate from, I can only imagine how difficult he would be to contact after a job if anything needed repair etc. read more

We recently had Pauls Landscaping do a retaining wall for our backyard. Peter came out gave us a quote the next day. His team and him started a couple days later. The team worked independtly. Which was great cause my family ended up coming down with the stomach flu! It was nice to know they were doing their job well. I will be hiring them for future work here soon. I contacted Paul several months ago because we have a huge back yard and one day as I looked at all the work that needed to be done, I threw up my hands and cried "Uncle". I needed help!! Very quickly, Paul responded to my request for a bid and came out a couple of days later. After considering the estimate (which was very reasonable for what we asked him to do), we hired Paul and his crew for the job. I was so pleased with what they did; they even did some extra things we weren't expecting. Fast forward to this July when a car came crashing through the concrete wall in our back yard sending concrete everywhere and mutilating several of our plants and flattening our sprinklers. As soon as we received the check from the insurance company, we called Paul again to replace the plants, mulch and sprinklers. Although the insurance company approved a few hundred dollars less than the estimate, we were still able to get everything done that we wanted; and again....the EXTRAS! Paul's crew even rounded all of the other bushes in the back, removed a tree that I hated (from another part of the yard) and even raked all of the leaves from my shedding trees in the front yard....yes, the front!! Paul's a busy guy, so expect to wait a few days for service, but he's usually pretty prompt in getting back to you. Paul, you've got a life-long customer here! read more

GRATITUDE FOR A JOB WELL DONE! We could not be happier with our new front and back yards. Paul and his dedicated staff worked very very hard on getting everything perfect. Paul and his staff are highly skilled and professional and we are enjoying the benefits daily, especially today when the area is flooding and our yards have no puddles or flooding of any kind unlike before the company redid our yards. We have a beautiful desert scape theme with a new tree and all new succulents and cactus-just what we envisioned. We have a Arizona rock "riverbed" in the front yard. It is gorgeous. With all this said, we interviewed several companies and found Paul's fees equitable and in fact lower than a couple. This was a huge concern for us as seniors on a budget. Paul comes by whenever we have a question about the drip system or anything else for that matter. His son in law and crew continue to drop by to check on everything and will continue for a few weeks. Honestly, we were sorry to see the work completed for only one reason and that is that Paul and his staff became a part of the family. If I can give 0 star, I will. It's very sad that the owner Paul was very rude, literally hanged up the phone while I was talking to him and telling me he got enough business and he doesn't need to do work for me. We started our conversation nicely a couple days ago. He told me to send photos of my house and address, he'll be able to give rough estimate and said he can have one of the guys working around the area to come by and give me a better idea as well. Then today, I called him to follow up when he can come by and provide a free estimate. His tone completely changed from the first time I spoke with him. He all of a sudden said he's fully booked and sounded like he's doing me a huge favor. Very sad! He even said he can't no longer give me an estimate based on the photos so, I understood that part. So I asked him when he can come? He kept saying he can't tell me and basically forget it and simply said "can't do this business with me and said I don't need this" very odd!!! And he just hanged up the phone. I'm glad I haven't done business with him yet. Also, I'm worried that I sent some photos and my address to him. I hope this person is somewhat a trust worthy person and won't do any harm to others. I rarely write reviews but, I'm quite worried about this one. Hope this review helps. read more

Pauls' Landscsape (and Tom's Maintenance and Lawn Care) are about as highly recommended as they get. Both are great communicators, and both help you get exactly what you are looking for. We have used Paul and Tom, respectively for over 3 years to overhaul both our front and back yards. The materials they use are first rate (no cheap materials used so that they can pocket the difference on an unsuspecting customer) and they are transparent with the cost for what you get (and yes you do get what you pay for.) We have had other contractors come out and overcharge, do crappy work, and one left without even cleaning up his cement work! Not with Paul and Tom; like I say you get what you pay for! I won't say they're the cheapest, but concierge service and honesty is worth the difference. Can I get 5 more stars for this review?? Paul is great. I've been doing business with this guy for awhile. Let me quickly tell you the story of how we met. I was house sitting for a friend who was on a military deployment. I'm sprinkler stupid and my friends sprinkler system blew up and water was going everywhere. I had no clue what to do, I had just gotten off a mid-shift and was exhausted. I called several places, the ones who answered wanted $60 plus to come out. About to give up, I randomly called Paul at Paul's Landscape Service. He said he would be happy to come by and wouldn't charge me. He came over with-in an hour and helped me out. I never forgot about his generosity and kindness and kept his business card. 2 years ago I purchased a house and immediately called Paul to do my landscaping. Paul has been nothing but reliable and knows exactly what he's doing. I have several stories of him taking care of stuff for me. Most recently, one of my trees died and he had an extra one, so at NO CHARGE he replaced it. Some of my sprinkler heads needed replacing, he replaces them for free. He dials in my water output for everything to ensure nothing will die and my water bill won't be so high during the summer. For everything he charges, its always fair. He really does provide a luxury experience with the utmost character and integrity. I highly recommend him. read more

Paul's crew did a very nice job on my backyard landscape. They put concrete curbing around my planters, installed a sprinkler system for my small area of grass, installed weed barrier and applied small gravel everywhere else. They fixed the drainage system that a previous landscaper had put in the yard which pooled water in places during the prior heavy rains, and Paul did not charge me extra for that fix. Like most people, I went on line to search for landscaping companies that would work in the Wildomar, CA area. I contacted several but felt most comfortable with the emails and verbal contact that I made with Paul and Tom. They were responsive and spoke in a language of truth. They got rid of my old backyard grass, removed an old tree stump, evened out the ground, treated the dirt with soil amendments and laid about 400 sq. feet of new sod. After I accepted the bid we scheduled a date to start. The men arrived on time and they were also professional and courteous. I am very happy with the work that was done on my yard.
