Cool local by the slice pizza joint. Small walk up counter service with a rotisserie display with various combinations of toppings slowly spinning around in front of you. Always changing selection with fresh hot options coming out regularly through out the day. There's a cold drink box with pretty decent selection of soft drinks, no alcohol. A small waiting area to take it and go, this place is not really designed for you to sit and dine. The staff on our last visit were both friendly and kind, we talked about 3-4 minutes waiting for fresh pizza, as soon as it came out quickly helped us with our fresh outta the oven bacon grilled chicken slices wrapped and plated - two to go. Reasonable to cheap by most standards, two slices (a quarter of a large pie) out the door $5 bucks and some change. The crust was golden brown, crisp outside and light soft chewy inside - it was really very good, the toppings ratio to sauce and cheeses across the pizza was solid and plentiful and a winner of a combination. Decent food at a fair price, friendly staff and good service, and yeah you may have to wait a few minutes if you want fresh outta the oven... 3.5 Stars - rounded up for the cool staff 00542

I lived in New York City for 4 years before moving here and I have to say this is the best pizza I have had. Easily beats New York pizza. And you can buy by the slice which I like.

I guess now that they are the only pizza joint in town $22 is an acceptable charge per pizza. The pizza is pretty good but the Eureka location is better. They do have a good lunch deal of a slice, doda and chips or cookie for 3.50 or 2 slices with the same sides for 5.50! I like the doughy crust and sauce is awesome!

Smug's in McKinleyville is small. You can eat-in at a counter, but most pick up pies or by the slice. They can make you a pizza in a lightening fast five minutes. The crust and ingredients are wonderful - very tasty. The staff, especially Molly, is terrific. A great McKinleyville treasure. Avoid the long line during the Mac High lunch rush. This place is a student favorite. They also bake delicious cookies and carry a full selection of soft drinks.

Got a couple of slices to go and the staff was great! I truly appreciate having a place locally that serves pizza by the slice.

Awesome spot to stop for a slice of pizza after the kiddo gets out of school. Quick, easy, and relatively cheap.

Bread is good, pizza is not! Topping's under cheese, not my favorite and they pile on way to much sausage for a combination pizza.

My fault for ordering thin crust, which does not come in Medium size so I had to get a large. Probably should have went for the original crust. Got olive oil and garlic which seemed to be devoid of any garlic or any other spices (oregano, basil, parsley would have added some flavor to a bland crust). Plenty of toppings but the lack of flavor was hard to overcome and the thin crust did not cook well. They say you can remove from tray for crispier crust after 10 minutes but there were gaps in the crust (too thin?) and places the dough was so soggy it didn't seem to pull away from the tray to place directly on oven rack. First time at Papa Murphys and I liked the concept of take and bake at home but I don't know that it was better then a frozen pizza in a box at the grocery store. And unfortunately the VRBO I'm at doesn't have spices in the pantry. I doubt I would try again. If I'm going to spend $25 for a pizza I'll just get one that's authentic and baked in a wood fire oven.

They make a really decent pizza at a fair price that is well made and nicely covered with fresh toppings. Take and Bake, it could not be much easier and the cost is about half of what the competitors charge for the same sized pie, they charge you almost twice as much just to bake the thing for you. Call your pizza in ahead of time and it will be waiting for you. We called our thin crust custom ingredient pizza in the other night and spotted them about 10 minutes, and by the time we drove to the store, it was waiting for us at the counter. Quick and easy. I have been to other PMs around the country and have had a variety of experiences from good to not so good, and this Papa Murphy's is at the top of the heap. Consistent quality, fresh ingredients and fast, friendly service - hard to beat for a quick, relatively inexpensive hot, fresh meal. Worth the effort and a solid 4 stars. 00198

We managed to nose our truck into the stall with a bit less room and walked around to the front entrance. Our disabled son has a service dog. She happens to be a standard Poodle that is clearly tagged, working-dog vested in hi-viz optic yellow with 'Service Dog' patches clearly worn and tethered to our son with a matching hi-viz short traffic lead. Imagine our surprise when walking into the restaurant we were told by the woman at the register that the dog was not allowed inside. We would have to put the dog outside on a hook. We politely countered, gesturing to the dog and explaining that as a service dog, she was legally allowed inside, to which the woman again stated that the dog would have to remain outside. On a hook... We chose rather than continue to waste time trying to get a seat or even place an order, to simply leave. We would spend our money elsewhere. FYI: California Vehicle Code - VEH § 22507.8 states that it is unlawful to block the access or use of the handicapped parking like that: https://codes.findlaw.com/ca/vehicle-code/veh-sect-22507-8/ And the ADA has clear direction about service animals and their permitted access in a restaurant setting: https://www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-2010-requirements/ These are very real legal issues. And we feel that the staff member made a choice to discriminate against us. Rather than raise a complaint with Humboldt County, we just won't return to this place, nor will we recommend eating here.

Not much flavor, texture was fine. Cheese was also okay, 5/10. Didn't stand out by any means but didn't taste inherently bad. Pepperoni and sausage was fine, 5/10. Definitely not great but not terrible. Overall very underwhelming, I'd prefer dominos for 1/3 the price, and definitely most other chains at the same price. Next day reheating via microwave after refrigeration; bread/dough was soggy, everything tasted similarly underwhelming but a bit more so.

Slices and knots came out first which is odd (usually it's salad first). I went to the counter and asked if they could make the salad to go since it was taking a while and also asked if they could put the dressing on the side so it wouldn't get soggy. Well, we finished our meal, our salad was delivered to the table and of course, no dressing on the side so it was soggy by the time we got back to our home. Had to throw it out. Sauce for the garlic knots was ice cold (just out of the refrigerator) and here's a hint...serve warm sauce with knots or mozz stix. It's not rocket science. Overall, the pizza is exactly what I would expect for NY style if I were in NY or NJ. Staff still needs some more training in customer service.

Their pepperoni was greasy, but not overwhelming, though it was pretty densely salted which off set the flavor profile of their sauce. I wouldn't say it was spectacular, though their La Bruchetta was exemplary. The sauce was flavorful, the crust had integrity, and it had a manageable amount of grease. The cheese was thin, as was the crust, but this is what you'd expect if a pizza joint that styles itself after New York. The ambience is typical of a dedicated pizza joint; the seating is a bit plain, not much going on in terms of music, but it's carried by other patrons and their interesting conversations. The staff is polite enough, but you can tell they get overwhelmed by all the patronage they receive, so don't expect to make small talk. Overall, it's a middle of the road experience. The flavors are good, for their specialty pizzas anyway, and the culture surrounding the restaurant is exceptional for a Cali pizza place. Very good for a relatively small college town in the Pacific Northwest. I'd recommend going at least once.

Oregano is easy to grow. Some might find it pricy for the lightness of the pizza so if you need a hearty meal their pizza might not do it for you. Reheating in cast iron pan brings the crust back to life and I don't put it in the frig overnight to also keep the crust good and i turn the pizza upside down so crust not soggy but with his pizza no much chance of that cause he does some sort of dough magic that makes his crust hold and not soak up the toppings.

The meat was moist and tasty and well dressed with 1000 island, lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled onions. We got buns that had no sesame seeds, which did not disappoint us. I had the cheese and garlic fries. I thought they were a bit pricey, but the order was a decent sized portion that four of us shared. The garlic was sharp and tangy, and appeared to be raw. The cheese was more like a "nacho" cheese consistency. If I had to do it again, I would ask if there was an alternate type of cheese. The side salad was generous and fresh, with the standard dressing options (balsamic, ranch, honey mustard). We asked for the dressing on the side and they were okay with it. The cup of tomato basil soup was generous and tasty. This is an "order, pay, and pick up food" place. So, if you are eating in, have someone grab a table if it's crowded.
