Went back on 9-17-23. Pizza was much better than our previous visit a year ago. Ordered a Caesar salad, two slices, and garlic knots. Slices and knots came out first which is odd (usually it's salad first). I went to the counter and asked if they could make the salad to go since it was taking a while and also asked if they could put the dressing on the side so it wouldn't get soggy. Well, we finished our meal, our salad was delivered to the table and of course, no dressing on the side so it was soggy by the time we got back to our home. Had to throw it out. Sauce for the garlic knots was ice cold (just out of the refrigerator) and here's a hint...serve warm sauce with knots or mozz stix. It's not rocket science. Overall, the pizza is exactly what I would expect for NY style if I were in NY or NJ. Staff still needs some more training in customer service. read more

Off a trafficked road and sitting in an almost decayed lot sits this pizza joint. It's well-staffed, the presentation of the pies is decent enough, and there's a rotating menu that changes each day. I tried the La Bruchetta slice and a more generic pepperoni slice. Their pepperoni was greasy, but not overwhelming, though it was pretty densely salted which off set the flavor profile of their sauce. I wouldn't say it was spectacular, though their La Bruchetta was exemplary. The sauce was flavorful, the crust had integrity, and it had a manageable amount of grease. The cheese was thin, as was the crust, but this is what you'd expect if a pizza joint that styles itself after New York. The ambience is typical of a dedicated pizza joint; the seating is a bit plain, not much going on in terms of music, but it's carried by other patrons and their interesting conversations. The staff is polite enough, but you can tell they get overwhelmed by all the patronage they receive, so don't expect to make small talk. Overall, it's a middle of the road experience. The flavors are good, for their specialty pizzas anyway, and the culture surrounding the restaurant is exceptional for a Cali pizza place. Very good for a relatively small college town in the Pacific Northwest. I'd recommend going at least once. read more

You could kill an army of vampires just with the garlic knot... It was absolutely loaded with garlic on the top. Like, just bread with a spoon of minced garlic. It just made everything all soggy and the bread would've been fine on its own had they not put a full spoon of garlic on each piece of bread. Vampires beware!!!! read more

The worker had boxed it and just left it there, never calling it out or bringing it to our table where we had our number. Placed a pizza and wings order over the phone, they said pickup in 15-20 but when I got there they hadn't even started so it took another 15-20. Run to pick up dinner took an hour. I asked the cashier multiple times if it was ready but she was spaced out. I finally went back around the counter to ask and it had just been sitting there on the oven getting cold, just a little warm. Visiting friends from out of state met here for dinner. Great space to talk and chow down. Individual pizza slices everyone got what they wanted. Wings were plump and sauced up to perfection. Pizza has a nice crust and flavorful sauce. Definitely a place to go back to. read more

We were looking for a place for dinner, while in the area. Someone recommended Paul's and it didn't disappoint. While they had some ready made options, my husband and I opted for a half pepperoni and Sun dried tomatoes and half pepperoni, pineapple and jalapeno. Pizza came out perfect and had that cheese pull you hoped for. We also both had the Avid Blackberry currant cider, which we both loved. We came back the next night for a quick bite before we left after dropping off our son at Humboldt. The seating was ample and clean. The guys behind the counter were very nice and helpful when we asked for suggestions. We will definitely be back when in the area. read more

Sadly, not the best. The garlic knots were undercooked and sone raw dough in places and the pizza became like cardboard as it cooled. Luckily we ate at the restaurant and the first slice while hot was good, the pizza was flavorful but texture of crust definitely not NY pizza. The pizza is decent, but I usually stop here when I want a quick slice. I ordered 2 slices of pizza to go and they forgot to give it to me. I'm pretty introverted and don't like to complain, so I waited at the table in front of the cashier hoping they would remember. After about 35 mins, I realized they forgot about me. Dang-there are some super haters of this place wth? Our experience was far different. The pizza we ordered was perfectly cooked and everything we hoped it would be. Maybe because we kept it simple and ordered half pepperoni, half cheese is the reason it was so good? The texture was terrific and yes, very similar to getting a slice in NYC at like 2 Bro's, Joe's, Vinny's or 99 cent Pizza etc. The kid was totally sweet who took the order and we drove to pick it up, rather than rely on Door Dash delivery service. Customer service is fine, but pizza tastes pretty bad. I have a better experience eating little caesars or high school pizza. The dough is not crispy at all almost like it's undercooked. Tastes like there is no seasonings in the dough, sauce, or on top. All toppings undercooked. Stomach hurts now. All around strange experience. Very odd that I've seen people rave about this place a lot, but then again Humboldt county has pretty low standards and lots of bad food and if you never lived anywhere else you wouldn't know any different. It was $30 for a medium pizza with 5 toppings and is really low quality. Added 20 mins after review: stomach hurts worse, I feeling hot and sweaty and I have diarrhea. We're big fans of the Paul's location in Eureka so we decided to order delivery from this location. That was apparently a bad idea since this location gave us the absolute worse pizza imaginable. The pizza was soaked to the point of being a sponge like texture. There were so many toppings that were barely cooked and the water content was simply too much for the crust to handle. On top of that, some ingredients were missing while others seemed to have randomly been added (such as dry gyro meat on a NY Combo with salami missing). It was straight up gross and I couldn't even finish a single piece of a $40 pizza. It was extremely disappointing and not at all like my experiences at Paul's in Eureka. Maybe more training or something, but I recommend if you're looking for a true NY pie to heat to the Eureka location instead. read more

Flaming Garbage . My Garlic Knots were saturated in oil, so bad to the point I had to dry them to even try to eat them. I consider myself picky when it comes to beer and pizza. Its a combo you can find just about anywhere, but this place does it right. Happy hour every day from 2-4pm gets you 3-4 dollar pints, and you can order by the slice. Slices are larger than Costco slices, so for about $10 plus tip you get yourself a brew and slice. Can't beat that. Plus the pizza is tasty, ingredients are fresh, and the service has been great every time. The crust is thinner than most and has a crunch to it.
