Pepperoni pizza with black olives
Justin N.

My wife and I picked up a pepperoni pizza with black olives and garlic knots. Being from the east coast, the crust was a bit thinner than we are used to and the cheese was a bit less, but we both agreed it was a good pizza. The garlic knots were quite good. Both were improved with a bit of salt being added.

During our trip to the Redwoods, we decided to stop somewhere for food and I can confidentially say that stopping at Headies was the BEST choice we've made. The cashier there was really nice and also gave us great recommendations. I even discovered a new favorite cider to go along with my pizza. And the place was so good, we even visited there twice! It's impossible to leave leftovers when the slices are so good. City of Trinidad...you surprised me!

Dub pep add sausage well done.

Some of the best I have had. Dough made in house, fresh and made to order. Called in around 5 and was ready by 630 so plan ahead they get busy. I have had pizza all over the world.

Dripping with flavor.

This is some of the best NJ pizza I have had on the west coast and if you have read any of my other posts on pie you know I usually get it plane. My motto is if you can't make a good cheese pie, then anything you put on it is just making up for bad or mediocre pizza. This place needs no toppings and we will defiantly be back. The service was helpful and atmosphere is small with only a few tables so best to plan on taking it to go. The sell pies by the slice or whole and only make 16" to go.

Loved grabbing dinner here during our trip to Redwoods National Park. Everyone was so friendly and the pizza was great! We tried a Club, Trinity, and Bonfire and all were excellent. The cashier even gave us helpful beach recommendations for where to take our 17 month old daughter! Thanks for the excellent service.

Absolutely loved this little pizza joint! We waited a bit for them to open at 3pm.. But while we were waiting we chatted with a local who assured us it was worth the wait. Then they put the special slices of the day in the window and quickly we knew we wanted the wookie and the luau. It's tiny inside, maybe seating for 12 people, but most people get their pizza to go. We ordered the wookie and the luau slices and they were so good we ordered a cheese and a pepperoni too. You can tell they put quality ingredients and love in every piece of pizza.. and yes it was worth the wait.

Pepperoni pizza with hot honey

We ordered a pepperoni pizza with hot honey last night and it was delicious!!! The hot honey ranch tasted like honey mustard that we got on the side. Would have preferred just regular ranch but the pizza was so good!! Lucky for us we for the last dough ball of the night!

Their pizza left me dreaming about the leftovers the follow day. That says something. Excellent find for us while visiting Trinidad!

Delicious Pizza just how I like with a thin crust, service is outstanding and location is great, yet hidden, so the vibe is welcoming.

Solid spot to get some good Ny style pizza in the area. Can be busy so expect a slight wait if during peak hours or in the weekend

I'm often stuck in little hotels with nothing around during holidays, and I often find myself eating somewhat poorly because of that. Tonight, I decided to somewhat mopily order a pizza, and I looked around Doordash, settling on Smug's in McKinleyville. I ordered a pizza with tomato, pepperoni, black olives and fresh garlic. This is the single best pizza that I've ever had in my life. I've had new york pizza in new york, chicago pizza in chicago, and I love a good detroit pie. But I have never in my life had a pizza that it provoked me to do nothing but rave about it for over an hour. The crust had this perfect crispy crunchiness--not like a pan pie, where oil soaks in, or a thin new york pie with a corn-meal bed, but just this light 'snap' when I bit through it. The cheese was perfectly sweet and salty, the sauce was amazingly balanced, with the perfect tang, the ingredients were fresh and had so much life . . . I literally almost ate an entire 16" pizza in one sitting. It was so good that I legit called the pizza place to thank them. I don't know if this was a one off or if this place is always that good, but I am honestly blown away. That's it. That's the review.

Other pizza's with loads of cheese and more dense crust can be tempting and even make my mouth a bit happy for moment but my stomach feels dense afterwards. The crust has chew and structure though not like a cracker (which was a pizza trend elsewhere that I wasn't liking but also not fond of the bread like flavorless thicker crusts (not talking deep dish which a place in Bay Area did well somehow). I forget the owner's name..begins with a P I think ....anyway very hard worker who puts his head and heart into producing his products. They do catering too..i looked it up on FB or Instagram and was amazed at how many other things he makes and how delicious it also looked. I'd give 6 stars if that was an option and they had some oregano or other herbs on the side to put on pizza if we like ...pizza places in general used to do that and haven't seen it anywhere. Oregano is easy to grow. Some might find it pricy for the lightness of the pizza so if you need a hearty meal their pizza might not do it for you. I have only had their pizza at the farmers market and it tastes so good i have to use will power not to eat the whole thing . I save half for the next day and sometimes add an egg on it for breakfast. Reheating in cast iron pan brings the crust back to life and I don't put it in the frig overnight to also keep the crust good and i turn the pizza upside down so crust not soggy but with his pizza no much chance of that cause he does some sort of dough magic that makes his crust hold and not soak up the toppings.

My fault for ordering thin crust, which does not come in Medium size so I had to get a large. Probably should have went for the original crust. Got olive oil and garlic which seemed to be devoid of any garlic or any other spices (oregano, basil, parsley would have added some flavor to a bland crust). Plenty of toppings but the lack of flavor was hard to overcome and the thin crust did not cook well. They say you can remove from tray for crispier crust after 10 minutes but there were gaps in the crust (too thin?) and places the dough was so soggy it didn't seem to pull away from the tray to place directly on oven rack. First time at Papa Murphys and I liked the concept of take and bake at home but I don't know that it was better then a frozen pizza in a box at the grocery store. And unfortunately the VRBO I'm at doesn't have spices in the pantry. I doubt I would try again. If I'm going to spend $25 for a pizza I'll just get one that's authentic and baked in a wood fire oven.

They make a really decent pizza at a fair price that is well made and nicely covered with fresh toppings. Take and Bake, it could not be much easier and the cost is about half of what the competitors charge for the same sized pie, they charge you almost twice as much just to bake the thing for you. Call your pizza in ahead of time and it will be waiting for you. We called our thin crust custom ingredient pizza in the other night and spotted them about 10 minutes, and by the time we drove to the store, it was waiting for us at the counter. Quick and easy. I have been to other PMs around the country and have had a variety of experiences from good to not so good, and this Papa Murphy's is at the top of the heap. Consistent quality, fresh ingredients and fast, friendly service - hard to beat for a quick, relatively inexpensive hot, fresh meal. Worth the effort and a solid 4 stars. 00198

I cannot rate this place. We couldn't dine here. First, the…read moreone handicapped parking stall was blocked by the restaurants dumpster. We managed to nose our truck into the stall with a bit less room and walked around to the front entrance. Our disabled son has a service dog. She happens to be a standard Poodle that is clearly tagged, working-dog vested in hi-viz optic yellow with 'Service Dog' patches clearly worn and tethered to our son with a matching hi-viz short traffic lead. Imagine our surprise when walking into the restaurant we were told by the woman at the register that the dog was not allowed inside. We would have to put the dog outside on a hook. We politely countered, gesturing to the dog and explaining that as a service dog, she was legally allowed inside, to which the woman again stated that the dog would have to remain outside. On a hook... We chose rather than continue to waste time trying to get a seat or even place an order, to simply leave. We would spend our money elsewhere. FYI: California Vehicle Code - VEH § 22507.8 states that it is unlawful to block the access or use of the handicapped parking like that: https://codes.findlaw.com/ca/vehicle-code/veh-sect-22507-8/ And the ADA has clear direction about service animals and their permitted access in a restaurant setting: https://www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-2010-requirements/ These are very real legal issues. And we feel that the staff member made a choice to discriminate against us. Rather than raise a complaint with Humboldt County, we just won't return to this place, nor will we recommend eating here.
