Grandson enjoys steak and egg breakfast
    Doug J.

Paul's Pancake Parlor is a breakfast stop with long tradition in Missoula. We visited after talking to a student on the University of Montana campus. They were very busy on a Thursday morning but the line moved fairly quick and after 20 minutes we were seated. Big menu with plenty of choices. I went for the blueberry sourdough pancake stack of four. They had plenty of blueberries and pancakes had good size, fairly light but not fluffy. I finished all four and did not feel like I had just eaten some heavy pancakes. Unfortunately the blueberry syrup was not as good as the pancakes and I should have tried it first before dousing the whole stack. They were good but I would try something different next time as there were many pancake and waffle choices. My grandson surprised me and ordered the 10 oz. Rib eye steak, eggs, and hash browns. He really enjoyed the meal and I had a couple small bites of steak and it was very good. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The tables clean in spite of being super busy. Seating comfortable. I would definitely visit again.

"Griz" breakfast. Barely warm, just the way no one wants their breakfast to be.

After waiting for a table for 40 minutes, the host told us that they had made a mistake, and we should have been seated sooner. They promptly took our order, seemingly to remedy the situation; however, it took another 40 minutes for our food to actually get to our table. When it did arrive, the entrée was lukewarm and the hashbrowns piping hot. Extremely disappointing, at best. This used to be a favorite breakfast place for my wife and I, but after this, I would strongly recommend others to go somewhere else instead.

EXTERIOR // Located within a steep mall. Plentiful parking. INTERIOR // Nothing special, but you're not here for the decor. Basic table and booth seating. Seats are worn, and you'll eventually slide into the cut that so many other people have worn down. FOOD // Decent. I suggest the pancakes .... Hence the name. Eggs are meh and wait staff always seems, we'll frantic. I fins it rude to place someone else's dirty dishes on your table. I guess it's all about the $$$ I ordered a LG OJ. Never got it. They still charged me for it. The whole meal did not come out of the same time. I had to wait on my toast separately. SERVICE // If you're a large party, you have much better chance of having Timely service. If you come in by yourself, it's a crap shoot best of luck to you. OVERALL// if you're nearby and you stumble across it, it's a decent place to grab a bite to eat. However I wouldn't go out of your way to look for it if you're ever in the state. Far better options that meet all the criteria on a regularly balanced and consistent basis. As always before providing any kind of a negative review, I tried this place more than once. I really wanted to like it.

First time here. Decided to grab brekky before I hit the road. Had to go Paul's sampler since it's a pancake parlor right? Comes with four types: sourdough (I liked the bit of tang form this one), blueberry (standard but nothing spectacular), chocolate (see blueberry description) and a classic buttermilk. All were solid and I liked that they were a good size, not huge so I was able to enjoy all four. Also added a side of two link sausage (8/10). Overall great diner type vibes. Next time all try one of their non pancake offering as they had a few other breakfast items that caught my eye.

This was a pretty cool experience. I had the breakfast special, a couple of pancakes, an egg and two slices of bacon for 10ish dollars. The food was tasty, the wait staff was attentive and polite. The restaurant itself was a bit dark and felt more like something i would find in New York. All to say, a pleasant surprise, and definitely checkout the bookstore next door.

Update: I am happily updating our experience. The owner Mike reached out to us for feedback which I appreciated, and he made it right so Thank You! On our next visit, our server was great and the food was quick and hot. The chicken fried steak was great and the pancakes wrapped around the pigs in a blanket were delicious.

The help moved this cart in my area, then proceeded to vigorously sweep mountains of trash, dust and debris in my face.

In the sea of competing breakfast places here in Missoula, I opted to go here because at least they don't obsess on Mexican oddities, such as burritos or tacos for breakfast. We don't need those. Here, the emphasis is on waffles and pancakes. Whereas I was expecting the waffle to be like a Belgian one, thick and an accompanying, crispy exterior, It wasn't. Unfortunately, I found the waffle to be ordinary, thin, and soggy. Low budget syrup. Orange juice: store bought and cheap, not close to fresh squeezed. Bacon tasted fine and was prepared well. Service was fine. Gawdy, tacky interior with the most unpleasant lighting i've ever witnessed in a restaurant. And that's saying something. One notable problem: the staff rolled the busboy cart out of its area and proceeded to ***vigorously*** sweep all of the day's dust, filth, trash, etc., into the air, and instead of dumping the full dust pan into the trash--somewhere away from the customers--instead, into the little trash can on the bus cart, just 2-3' away from other customers and me. My nose is now itching and I'm sneezing. This sort of heavy cleaning is non hygienic, causes airborne hair, dust and debris to land in people's clothes, food and person. It's also super tacky and inconsiderate. He should have waited to do that until after closing. Overall, this could be a wonderful breakfast option. It's just devoid of high quality ingredients and caters to a mediocre segment. Pricing is fair for what is being served.

Local decor to enjoy. Service was friendly. Sourdough pancakes aren't for everyone. If you don't know, get the sampler stack. Good coffee. It was a worthy breakfast choice during vacation.

They have a nice variety of breakfast, with healthier and smaller options. The prices are decent, definitely city prices. I had the shakshuka, which was phenomenal but wish there was an option to add more meat. The portion was huge and the sourdough was delicious. We all enjoyed and I'd definitely come back!

They are a specific craving for me pretty dang often. Why? Because I love the burrito mixture with the SAUCE. I order, and because I have only so much time to eat in between patients, I ask for the sauce on the side so it all doesn't get soggy. I put specifically *sauce on the side* Then pay even more for ANOTHER sauce on the side in effort to get them to realize I want a SAUCE ON THE SIDE. More times than not, they have forgotten. The only times they haven't is when I ask the dash driver to confirm. In a moment of severe craving at work yesterday, I said heck with it, I'll order a burrito. Guess what?! NO SAUCE. I called in and in my most pleasant voice, I asked to speak with a manager. I was told they were busy but they would take my number down and have her call me back. NO call ever came. I was complaining to a coworker and sure enough she says "oh, that happened to a coworker last week." After that, I went and checked the reviews. Sure enough there were multiple complaining about not getting sauce on the side. At this point I'm questioning if the employees are just that dense or is this just full on laziness? I'm being ripped off every time for something I shouldn't even have to pay for in the first place. Won't be going back. Definitely won't be suggesting to visiting friends and family either.

After we ordered, however, we were bummed to find them promoting anti-ICE ideology in a prominent way at the front counter. Can't a coffee shop just make good coffee and not get political? If not for having political things a prominent part of the experience, I probably would give this place five stars. But it takes away from the experience if, even when you are just trying to get a drink and a bite to eat, you must ascribe allegiance to some cause or some political agenda. Typical Missoula I guess.
