Within less than five months, while driving in active traffic, the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic powertrain failure. The vehicle completely lost all acceleration, leaving me trapped and stranded in a highly dangerous roadway position. Immediately following the power failure, the engine bay filled with heavy smoke and began severely overheating. The vehicle came within moments of bursting into a full thermal engine fire. This vehicle was a rolling death trap that almost killed me on the road. No one is taking this life-threatening safety failure seriously. The selling dealership refused to address the known hazard, forcing a predatory repossession that destroyed my financial life while leaving a severely defective, fire-prone vehicle completely unaccounted for. BEWARE OF SERVICE DEPARTMENT On 5/23/25, I had my 2015 RAV4 serviced at this location. Services received included a tire rotation (part of my service contract) and "transfer case and rear differential fluid drain and fill". To my knowledge, no other person/company had contact with my tires after that. On 7/24/25, I had the RAV4 evaluated by my personal mechanic for an unrelated issue (difficulty starting). While my mechanic was performing routine quality inspection of my vehicle, he noted that there were two lug nuts missing - which concerned him greatly as this is a major safety issue. He brought it to my attention and I asked him to replace the lug nuts. When he called me to finalize my payment, he informed me that ALL the lug nuts on my vehicle were just barely tightened - reporting that they were not tightened to "spec." Of course, he made sure that they were tightened appropriately before I picked up my vehicle. I contacted Pauly Toyota on 7/29/25 and spoke to the service advisor for my date of service on 5/23/25 to express my concerns. He told me that he was unable to do anything for me and that I would need to speak to the Service Department Manager. He transferred me to his voicemail. I left a detailed message and I have, to date (8/15/25), not heard back from him. At a minimum, I expected to be reimbursed for the lug nuts and credited for the tire rotation under my service contract. But more importantly, Pauly Toyota endangered my family's safety--something priceless and irreplaceable. read more

I came here last week to have routine maintenance done on my car, an oil change and tire rotation. After they were finished with my car the rep told me my car was ready. When I went to pay my bill I noticed my car was not in the service area as usual. I have been coming here for about three years and my car has always been right there with the keys in the car. Instead my car was parked outside in the parking lot. I even had to ask where my car was. The rep had the key with him. . I got in my car and noticed immediately the tire pressure light was on. This was very odd because the light was never on. There was a gas station right up the street and I put air in my tire. I drove home. The next morning my tire was completely flat. I had to get a tow. I went to the Firestone dealership I have a close relationship with. I am here frequently, because my daughter works nearby and frequently has my tires checked free by them. They examined my tire and told me there is a small puncture on the side of the tire. Firestone, unfortunately, could not repair the tire. I had to purchase a new one. It was a relatively newer tire. I had my tires checked by them less than a week ago and there were no issues. When I brought my car into Toyota I had never had a problem with my tires. I brought my car in with 4 good tires that had no issues. After the rotation my car had a puncture on the side of one tire. I know when the tech parked my car after my service he had to have seen the tire pressure light was on. The tire pressure indicator light was not on when I arrived there for my service. They somehow punctured my tire. They offered me no explanation why or how my tire ended up being punctured. They are very dishonest. read more

On October 12, I went in for an oil change and to address an issue with my second-row pilot seat that wouldn't fold down. I was informed they would do their best to help me for the $139 fee to fix the issue. However, they told me they couldn't repair my seat and that I would need a new frame costing over $1,200, which came as a shock to me. I decided to seek a second opinion at a body shop, where they took the time to examine my seat. They discovered that a cord was loose, and all it took was for them to plug it back in for the seat to work again. Ever. **Shout out to Tom for calling us and trying to make things right the next day.** Our experience: We made an appointment to look at a specific car, got to Pauly Toyota right on time and we were waiting for the salesman for 10min. Another guy, Matthew, comes to grab us instead - seemed like he was trying to keep us from waiting longer. When we sat down he was VERY arrogant towards us. Then he says "Oh i have another appointment coming so Ill have to move you guys and ill be going back and fourth" His appointment arrives and then he moves us, BUT he doesnt once come by us and we wait for 45min. I HEARD a coworker ask him if he can take us to help him out and Matt said "no". Later we are back with Matt going over numbers. Basically the numbers were not making sense and my boyfriend (who knows his shit and is a human calculator) was SIMPLY ASKING for Matthew to explain some stuff and Matt would NOT STOP interrupting him and kept going on and on about how "Toyota is the best and nothing is better and you wont find a better deal anywhere else" blah blah blah. I just wasted over 2 hours waiting for a key to be cut and a fob programmed for our 2-month old Tundra. I made an appointment over 2 weeks ago and arrived on time and was told it would be about an hour and a half wait and they would rotate the tires since I was close to the 5,000 mile rotation interval - and a wash. At 2 hours I went to check and was informed that they were short of Master Techs and nothing had been done to the truck and offered up a loaner. I demanded the truck back. This was after only one fob was included when we picked up the truck with the second fob being available sometime in July. You must have the fob to start the truck - the key will only open the doors so if you loose the fob you're pretty screwed. But you can purchase a fob online - which is what I did (and had it in 3-days) and was going to have Pauly cut the key and program the fob and pay for it. We would wait for the second Toyota fob that comes with the truck and have it programmed in July. The service manager told me that the second Toyota fob was "free" when in fact it was part of the truck that we paid for. The service manager offered to program the fob and no charge when we came back - not going to happen. There are plenty of other Toyota dealers in suburban Chicago that must have better customer service than Pauly. When they knew that they were short-staffed they could and should have called to let me know to save me the trip and wait. A half-hour each way to the dealership and 2 hours waiting - what a great way to spend a morning read more

If I can give this place negative stars I would. They are the worst and I would never go back and would not refer my worst enemy to this place. First let me begin by saying I purchased a brand new vehicle from another dealership - 2023 Hybrid Hylander Platinum in June 2023. I live closer to Pauly Toyota so I decided to opt for convenience and take my vehicle to Pauly in July 2023 when the hatch was not properly connecting. I called and made an appointment in July 2023. When I arrived I pulled into the service area and the advisor asked me what was wrong. I explained the hatch was not connecting properly and would bounce back and not lock. He tried to replicate the problem and of course it didn't repeat at that moment. He then tells me sorry there isn't anything we can do right now why don't you record it next time it happens and bring it back. So, I left. It continued to happen but I didn't rush right over to take the car and didn't record it. So June 2024 yet again it happens this time I'm in the city and can't pull off because the indicator light would not turn off no matter how hard I slammed it shut. Very very frustrating. I took it back to Pauly with several recorded videos and Nick the advisor wouldn't even look at the videos. Does nothing for me again and tells me if it happens again just bring it in while the hatch is not locked. Unbelievable!!! So I did just that I brought it in with the indicator light on and the hatch popped open. After only keeping my car for a few hours they call me to tell me it's going to cost me $175 for service charge and several hundred to fix it.... This is a brand new car under plenty of warranty coverage!!! unbelievable. I didn't pay them a penny and took my car to Elgin Toyota - where I originally purchased my car. The level of service I received from Elgin Toyota is unmatched!!!! They went above and beyond to troubleshoot the problem - even as far as getting in contact with Toyota Main office directly to further investigate. My hatch is fixed thanks to Elgin Toyota and has been working like a charm! No thanks to Pauly Toyota who does not care about the customer only their bottom line. They can careless just give them money. Unreal!!!! It's no wonder they don't ever have a selection of new cars to sell because Toyota knows were to properly allocate the new cars to and it's not Pauly. Let me start this review with the premise that I am buying a new car during a chip crisis, cars are nearly impossible to find and used cars are super inflated. The dealership didn't charge me anything over MSRP and even sweetened the deal for me. A rarity in January of 2022. My salesman Tom Hirshberg was stellar. I told him from the beginning I was a numbers guy looking for a fair trade in and wouldn't haggle too much on the MSRP. I got exactly what I asked for. I'm a well-qualified buyer and this process was easy. Victor Shariati, the finance person, had to re-do the terms of the loan based on a request that I didn't make clear (72 mo vs 60 mo loan term). Victor re-processed everything with a positive attitude and adjusted it to the terms I requested. He didn't seem bothered, just said to bear with him while he made the changes. Back to Tom: After everything was done on the finance end, Tom offered assistance with setting up the Avalon. I told Tom that I was all set as I was coming from an older Avalon. Tom really allowed me to set the tempo and was not pushy about anything which I really liked. He informed me of all available options but didn't try to force them down my throat. Larry Albrecht introduced himself to get my aftermarket accessories put on. I have a service appointment tomorrow for tint and a 2-way remote start to the Avalon. So far, everyone there is awesome. We had a fantastic experience with Steve at Pauly Toyota yesterday. We can't recommend them enough!! We had visited Fox Lake Toyota a few days prior to look at a Prius and they gave us a bait and switch routine from what they were advertising, adding on what they said were "mandatory" interior cleaning warranties to the tune of nearly $4000. The manager later admitted it was a "market adjustment" and they were simply selling the car for a higher price "due to the market". So they lied and we walked. We made an appointment to see an AWD RAV4 hybrid with Steve at Pauly Toyota and everything was above board. We were treated respectfully and professionally. The car's price was exactly what Steve said it would be AND they gave us a full $3000 more for our trade-in than Fox Lake Toyota! We ended up spending quite a lot more for the RAV4 than we had originally planned for the Prius but they really made it worth our while. And, wow, it's a beautiful, comfortable car! No slimy tactics and full transparency really makes Pauly Toyota stand out. Steve was so down-to-earth and really knows his stuff! He also knows that the products he's selling essentially sell themselves. Most people know that Toyota is at the top for hybrids. It's just about customer education and treating people honestly. My parents will be in the market for a new Toyota in the next few months. Even though they live over an hour away, they will be visiting Steve when the time comes. I do not want to leave any star as the sales person Ryan Poltzer is horrible at his job. I went in to by a vehicle and was told by Ryan it would take 3 months from start to finish so I ordered the truck on 3/18. I called one month later and Ryan told me it was not allocated yet. I asked what that means and told me that only a certain amount of cars go into production a month. He told me to call the next Monday because that's when the new list gets published. Between Monday and Wednesday I sent two emails and texted him on his personal cell phone. No return response until I called and he picked up the phone. I was not mad just upset and asked why he has not returned my calls. He then told he didn't get my emails so I asked what about the text After giving me the run around about not responding he then said the allocation list comes out on Friday. I have all the emails with information as proof and yet everything he tells me changes and then proceeds to told me "I told you this. " I then told him I feel like I'm getting played to which his response is I'm refunding your deposit and hung up on me. Very Poor, I was in the process of working out the details of an intended purchase with Paul LeRose. Had the financing ready to go. Cash in my pocket for the difference. Had asked him if he negotiated, he said a little. Not a good communicator, never said anything about anyone else being interested. Car had been on the lot 47 days. Was going to travel the 2 1/2 hours to pick it up this morning, but decided to call ahead, twice. Paul wouldn't answer the phone so I called the used car manager. He said it was sold and driving out the door when I called. Paul's communication skills are poor at best. My bank had problems with him too. He said he sent information, when as it turned out, it wasn't sent until much later to the bank. I was supposedly copied and I wasn't copied at all. He said he would call me back in 20 minutes yesterday, I waited all day for him to call me back. I finally reached him about 5:30pm. I'm 81 years old. It took alot to get where we were, he could have cared less. These people don't care!!! read more
