Already my favorite of the Pavement locations in Boston. Not only because it is the closest to where I live, but because it has plenty of parking, outdoor seating AND sells their freshly roasted coffee beans. They previously sold Counter Culture coffee but now have transitioned to roasting their own coffee. Support local! Highly recommend 'the fix' breakfast sandwich on an onion bagel! Their spanish latte is also an amazing drink to try besides the standard cold brew / hot coffee fare. They also rotate pastry options with various cookies and did have a couple vegan options for those with dietary restrictions! Amazing space to come and unwind as the environment is not extremely large but does feel cozy and the outdoor tables fit 2-3 people. A great addition to the area. read more

If it's one thing this particular location is great about, is the consistency. Consistent on forgetting items on your order. I have given this spot numerous chances but the last four times in a row they have forgotten items. I have had to call to request my "refund" on items that were never truly refunded. Today's particular instance was again forgetting the brownie bites. But, at least they are consistent. I went back in only to be told they were out of the brownie bites as they only had the single brownie squares which is not a problem. Until I looked at the pricing... A single brownie is 3.50 and brownie bites are 6.00. Although it doesn't seem like a big difference, this now happening four times, and never being refunded is pretty much stealing from the guests. It's a shame as this location is a block away from my house. Unfortunately due to the consistency, we will no longer be patrons of this establishment. read more

Pretty decent spot for a quick cup of coffee or a sandwich. Not near any T stops, but right off the 86 bus. Came here because I had a ton of work to do, and a $3 off coupon (Thanks, Pavement!) I've been to other Pavements around the city, but this was my first time coming to this location. The space itself is quite small, and there is not a whole ton of seating, but there is quite the variety of seating (2-seat tables, one big table, bar-like seating along the window, etc.) Like trying to do work in other coffee shops around the city, you become an expert at finding an empty seat, tuning out loud noises, and sitting elbow-to-elbow to the person sitting next to you. Got the classic turkey sandwich, which I enjoyed--the cilantro aioli is perfection. Bagels and pastries also look really good, and everything is super affordable ($8 for sandwich). All sandwiches also come with side of chips. read more

A super cute coffee shop! I wish I lived closer because I would literally go every day. The decor is warm and industrial with cute details. It looks like a nice place to settle in with a cup of tea and get some work/reading done. They have indoor and outdoor seating options, but there seemed to be only one electrical outlet throughout the space. The chai latte I had was nice and tasted pretty good. Top notch!! It's my favorite quick breakfast spot. Bright cozy feeling interior and wonderful coffee. Pretty reasonable prices overall. But here's what is the most incredible thing they've got: order a jalapeño bagel with diablo cream cheese. It's spicy but to die for!!! My order had clear signs of cross-contamination. Kitchen workers don't change their gloves frequently enough. I ordered an everything bagel with garlic chive cream cheese. I got bits of egg, avocado, and hot sauce smeared all over my bagel. I've been going to Pavement for years - the quality has dipped in the last year, but this really grossed me out. Food is good but not worth the amount of money they charge, service was awful from an employee with black hair and glasses the rudest attitude I've ever gotten especially when your paying so much money for your order, I asked her simple questions and she acted like I was bothering her while she was just standing there doing nothing acting like I'm taking time out of her precious day, mind you this is her job she is getting paid to tend to customers. All I recommend is that the pavement employees motivate one another to do there jobs correctly because it is the right thing to do and it is satisfying doing your job correctly, put some pep in your step and act like you enjoy your life. Were all out here doing the same thing no body is different from one another so by you putting a fake smile on your face can go so far another person, be more kind, genuine, and polite.. practice that and you'll go further in life than you know (to the girl with black hair and glasses at the western Ave location) -sincerely from a person just trying to make you a better person :) read more

Dope study/coffee spot with nice outdoor seating. WiFi is pretty sturdy and they have a nice communal seating area indoors. The chai lattes are typically bland so I ask for some pumps of vanilla. The last time I went, I ordered an onion bagel with cream cheese and honestly, I couldn't even eat it because there was enough schmear for two bagels + it was just sloppy. I typically order a plain bagel with butter which is good but I strongly recommend you ask for the bagels to be toasted twice considering the first round errs more on the side of a quick microwave warming. Overall, it's a solid local spot. Employees are nice but not overly friendly- but I think that's just Boston ‍ Interior design is creative and the bathrooms are very clean. Bonus star for having sipping lids instead of straws. read more

I never write reviews but the service at this location is absolutely appalling. We ordered 2 hot lattes and one of them came out iced. I said both of these should have been hot and the woman making the lattes aggressively grabbed the coffee and threw it away and said GREAT obviously in a very sarcastic tone. She made a new latte and we thanked her but never acknowledged the thank you. When you're paying $7.00 for a latte you at least hope it's going to be what you ordered. Great little coffee place on a busy street with a parking lot! I ordered an iced coffee and a turkey sandwich on GF bread. The coffee wasn't the strongest but pretty good.. they have almond milk which is a plus. Sandwich was great and the best thing about it was the chipotle aioli. GF bread was also crispy and had a buttery taste to it (I'm picky with my GF bread) and it's only $1 extra. I wish there was more seating as I could barely find a spot during lunch time. If I come here again I will probably order a sandwich to go. read more

I always stop by here when i got an appointment with doctor at Charles River Community Health Center. My Favorite is Overnight Oat! it is so much different from other cafe. The texture of oat is very smooth and cut with some nut and sunflower seed. Top with assort fruit. The Second is Bagel they toast it very well. coffee here is so so for me. I'm torn, because on the whole I like Pavement. But when I came to this location and ordered an ice coffee and a bagel extra toasted with cream cheese on the side I got a barely toasted bagel. The food and coffee is deserving of 5 stars! But the service is consistently lackluster, unfortunately. Not sure if that's supposed to be the vibe of the place but the staff never feels welcoming and usually slams your food down on the counter and walk away before you can even say thank you! For a place that is more on the expensive side with pricing, I could expect more service-wise. That being said, any of their bagels are delicious! I always get mine with the veggie cream cheese. Their breakfast sandwiches are good too and some of them are more interesting than a typical bacon, egg, and cheese. Coffee is good and strong. Five stars for the food and coffee, but two for the customer service. The majority of the staff I've encountered here either seem pretty detached/disinterested or borderline rude. A little friendliness goes a long way, and I've only experienced it from a couple of the baristas/cashiers at this location. A lot of them just seem to give more fuel to the stereotype of the bored, cooler-than-thou hipster. Sometimes they play great music that's somewhat off the beaten path, but still accessible (stuff that's in the vein of Sonic Youth, Kate Bush, or Snail Mail). But other times the music has been so avant-garde, in a way that's jarring or grating on the ears, that I don't want to sit and read while I sip my coffee or eat my bagel sandwich. There's a fine line between playing indie music that's "coffee shop accessible" and music that's just plain unpleasant for that kind of environment, and some employees here tend to cross that line. The bagels and the vegan options keep me coming back. And I'd choose their coffee any day over one of the bigger chains. I just wish the service and ambience were more friendly. That'd elevate this place to 4-4.5 stars in my mind for sure. Side note: I've been to the Harvard square location, and the employees there are definitely more friendly read more

By far my favorite bagel in the area. I lived in NYC, so I do have high standards. I usually get the Everything bagel, however their new flavor of Rosemary Salt is my new Everything! I love their egg and cheese breakfast sandwich (SO FRESH)-again, best in Boston in my opinion. I am also a fan of their bagel with hummus and veggies. I have had a variety of sandwiches here- all very fresh and delicious. I have recently thought to try a few other bagel spots again, but honestly Pavement's bagels rule and I don't plan to stray after my recent bagel experiment. The coffee is also solid. I could go for a bit stronger roast but it is good coffee- both hot and cold. The service is average. I have no complaints. Another yelper described them as aloof. I guess that applies. They are pleasant but not overly engaging. Seating can be challenging but there are plenty of options, it is just that it gets busy (sign of a great coffeehouse). Love the outdoor tables. Love the overall ambiance. Parking is easy and an absolute bonus in the area. read more

Very welcoming staff. Ordered the daily drip coffee Nano Challa- it was a smooth brew, I addd the simple syrup which created a caramelized flavor. I ordered the Sunrise sandwich on a croissant and added the diablo cream cheese which added a nice touch of spice. I had also added tomatoes but it wasn't until I was nearly done that I realized they weren't in the sandwich. I think they would have added a nice acidity. The eggs were also scrambled which I might ask if they could be over easy. Overall the sandwich was well made with quality ingredients. Nice atmosphere and friendly customers. I hate this Pavement location. The service is very slow. You need to order 30min in advance for anything. Food is good but is it worth the wait? Not really. I ordered two bagels, plain as-is, and I waited almost 15min for them. It's just two bagels! Just put them in a bag and I'll be on my way. Crazy slow. Very good Coffee, pastries and sandwiches are very good. All fresh, Coffee is superb. If you are tired of drinking Piss Water from Dunkin Doughnuts or supporting Corporate Evil of Starbucks come to this place. Only problem here is Harvard people loitering there, loud conversations, privileged W. A. S. P. Types, long lines,snooty college kids who think they are gods gift to the world. I love this place, BUT I wish there was an alternative to ordering pickup. My last two attempts to order online failed and would not go through. You can't call in a pickup order because of their policy. Just a bummer when you're in a rush and don't have time to order in person and wait 20 minutes. Alas... better luck next time. read more

After visiting Boston I found this be to a great coffee shop! While their coffee was still good, their bagels were what really stood out to me. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel and all parts of it were incredible. Our order came out super quick and the staff were kind. The only thing was they have minimal seating for a high demand of customers. There are only a few small tables for two people, one large one in the middle, and a counter at the window that can seat a few people. Despite that, an awesome spot! read more

The only thing great about this place is the food. If you want a "hello" or even just a smile, NONE of the employees here will give one to you. They all act as though they are too good for their customers, are hungover, don't care, or have never been trained on how to greet someone. This is unlike the other locations. So, I like this location - it's a nice place to hang and relax and I really liked the staff both times I've been there. I had a pretty good vegan sandwich. That is why I gave 3 stars. They lost the 2 big stars because they only have medium coffee and it was barely that. A coffeehouse​ that roasts their own coffee just feet away and no variety for​ in-house​? When I left last, walking to TJ's I saw that Starbucks was opening soon. I would prefer to give my business to anyone else but I'm not going to buy weak coffee. PROS: Great little coffee shop w outdoor seating. Ambiance nice, very staff friendly, coffee tasty. CONS: Food was not great - bfast sandwich was microwaved egg w unmelted cheese on bread that was not toasted. Looked/tasted like airport food. Killer tofu salad was delish though. We ordered for here and were given PLASTIC forks and cups. Would love to see Pavement using non-disposable utensils/cups in the future. In addition to using plastic, they do not have a recycling bin available for customers. A couple of easy changes could make this place really wonderful! read more
