I will say I work in the funeral industry so I think I expected everything to be the same as human remains are treated but that's not the case unfortunately. When my dog was picked up the driver seemed like he was unaware of my dog's weight and did not have someone to help or something to help him carry my 75lbs Doberman. My boyfriend had to help carry our baby out of the vet. Your pet is placed into a black plastic bag and is loose in the back of a truck. I think smaller dogs are placed into bins which is nice, but again my dog's weight was given since the initial call. The driver was gentle and kind but I would have really loved if my dog was strapped in or placed into something that kept him from flying around the back of that truck. When I saw him again at the witness cremation he looked good so there was no damage to his body thankfully it just hurt to see him placed into the back of the truck without any restraints of some sorts but I know not all people are as sensitive. That was my baby. The witness cremation only allowed 30 minutes of a small viewing before the cremation I wish it was longer . I'm not sure if they offered longer time I didn't ask but I am still happy with the experience. They allowed me to let him be cremated with some flowers and a small toy which I really really appreciated. Because I paid for witness cremation they would call me as soon as his remains were ready to pick up. I was out grabbing lunch and when they called I had to drop everything to go pick him up because the staff was leaving the crematory. They handed his remains outside and did not have the time to bring me into the building to go through everything they were handing me. I could not check that all was there standing outside. When I got into my car I noticed the extra paw print was missing. Again I work in the funeral industry and I understand working with many families can lead to some things forgotten or delayed but no apology was made they just told me they'd let me know when it's ready. I paid a lot of money so I was hoping all would be perfect but again I do understand things happen. I'm still waiting for that paw print to be done. I liked this place the staff were very kind and the little room used for viewing him was pretty and peaceful. Communication is through text and does take some time for a response but they do answer all questions with care. There was only one urn offered but in the viewing room they had lots of vase urns displayed im not sure if offered. Their website didn't have much info and I felt a little lost through texts and I wish I had the invoice sooner but the whole process was just extremely difficult. Loosing my best friend was heartbreaking. I do recommend this place but wish those little things I mentioned were handled with more compassion. I wish there was a thorough review like this when I was looking for a place so I hope this helps someone and I really really hope my concerns are enough for Gentle Journey to consider making those tiny upgrades I know it would mean so much to families and also if a friend needs a place I will be recommending Gentle Journey. The ability to feel her feet and hands by tracing my fingers along each anatomical groove brings a smile to my face. Cutie would often times take her front paw and wrap it around my finger and now I can replicate that feeling over and over thanks to you Ariel. Ariel inked my Cutie's paws, nose and whiskers too! When I saw the prints it brought me back to when I use to touch her nose and she would look at me and I could just feel her smiling at me with her eyes. Ariel made me a special ink design with Cutie's tail curved forming a half heart with her back paw in the middle. I don't have tattoos but if I were to ever get one this would be perfect! Ariel created so many personal touches for Cutie's send off to heaven that she had me crying tears of joy. Our aftercare specialist, Laura, at the Sun Valley location, stayed with us through the entire process and treated both us and our beloved pup with such dignity and care. The visitation experience was absolutely transformative for our grieving hearts. When we entered the room, Sir Perceval was resting peacefully on a soft bed, covered with a plush blanket, he looked like he was sleeping soundly, covered in a cozy blanket with flowers carefully arranged around him. The room was softly lit, peaceful music played in the background, and there were comfortable sofas where we could sit with him as long as we needed. We cried, hugged him, and said goodbye in a space that felt safe, loving, and deeply respectful. The thoughtful details meant everything to us -- when picking up his cremains, as emotional as it was, we appreciated the elegant, color coordinated packaging, the velvet bag his urn was wrapped in, the lovely engraving, his precious paw print. This review is limited to the ashes and keepsakes I got from them for my late cat. Last week I lost my cat of 12 years, Oliver, to cancer. He passed away fairly suddenly when I took him to Animal Speciality Group (VCA) in Glendale because he had been throwing up non-stop and seemed to be in pain. Turns out his tumor had been bleeding internally and he was severely anemic and the cancer had apparently spread aggressively across large portions of his body, so I made the difficult but necessary decision to let him cross the rainbow bridge. At ASG/VCA, I purchased a cremation and keepsakes package, which I would later learn was being handled by West Coast. I just got the urn and keepsakes today in the mail and I really could not be any happier (other than if I could get my little buddy back). The wooden urn I chose was just beautiful, but I am especially blown away by the small vial with his hair inside of it; West Coast made a point to display his black and white fur in a beautiful pattern so I can always remember my tuxedo boy. I also did not ask or even pay extra for a paw print but I was so emotional and glad to find that West Coast had prepared one for me anyway. I really appreciate the work they did here to memorialize my boy. Thank you, West Coast, for your thoughtful work. On December 1, 2025, my pup looked at me, and I knew it was time. Our family had called upon Dr…read more Gonzalez before, so there was no question in my mind who to call again. Unlike our previous experience where we were able to book ahead of time and plan for our pup's passing, this was a circumstance where our baby needed immediate services -- his body was failing. Once I saw our senior 13-yr old pup was telling me it was okay, I called Dr. Gonzalez at 7pm. She was at our home by 10pm. Our pup had been sick for several years, and in that last week, our primary vet had already told us his health was declining, so we at least knew the end was near. And I had already mentally prepared to be strong and let him go when he needed to -- so I had Dr. Gonzalez's number on hand. We live in an apartment building, so we reserved a spot for her in our lot as close as possible to an exit. She came upstairs to our home, and she had brought all her equipment. I had already imagined how I wanted this experience to go for my once in a lifetime soul pup. I sat on his favorite place on the sofa, and I had him in my lap. Dr. Gonzalez gave me a pee pad to wrap around him within the blanket understanding there could be an accident in the process as his body released his spirit. I had a candle lit. I had soft music playing. We had low lighting on to honor what was about to happen. Dr. Gonzalez was also super accommodating to our 2nd puppy who was curious about her and wondering what was happening to his big brother. She didn't shoo him away -- she invited us to keep the puppy around so he can know his big brother was about to pass on. She gave us time to speak to Nuxx, love on him, and then let him go. Then, it finally happened. And Dr. Gonzalez stepped out of our apartment for awhile, giving our little family time to grieve, sob, and hold our baby close. Our puppy sniffed him too and said his goodbyes. Then she came back, and she asked us if we wanted to be the ones to carry him out or she was happy to do so. My husband carried him, myself and our puppy followed along -- felt like a procession down our apartment hallway. We got to Dr. Gonzalez's car, and we gently placed our baby's body in her car, and said our goodbyes again. Then...it was done. Throughout the experience, Dr. Gonzalez was so incredibly supportive, gentle, understanding, and patient. What else can you ask for when such a heartbreaking thing is occurring? When a spirit is literally fading in your arms? I am still not over losing him, but at least I know we gave him the most peaceful send-off we could: in his own home, in our arms, surrounded by so much love. If / when we need to go through again, I will continue to call on Dr. Gonzalez. RIP Nuxx.
