We cannot say enough wonderful things about and the care they gave our beloved dog, Sir Perceval. Fifteen years ago, we used this company when it was still Guardian Animal Aftercare for our two rescue dogs, and the compassion we experienced then stayed with us all these years. When Sir Perceval passed away, I immediately remembered them and reached out again. From the first phone call to bringing him home, every single step was handled with kindness, professionalism, warmth, and genuine compassion. Our aftercare specialist, Laura, at the Sun Valley location, stayed with us through the entire process and treated both us and our beloved pup with such dignity and care. The visitation experience was absolutely transformative for our grieving hearts. When we entered the room, Sir Perceval was resting peacefully on a soft bed, covered with a plush blanket, he looked like he was sleeping soundly, covered in a cozy blanket with flowers carefully arranged around him. The room was softly lit, peaceful music played in the background, and there were comfortable sofas where we could sit with him as long as we needed. We cried, hugged him, and said goodbye in a space that felt safe, loving, and deeply respectful. The thoughtful details meant everything to us -- when picking up his cremains, as emotional as it was, we appreciated the elegant, color coordinated packaging, the velvet bag his urn was wrapped in, the lovely engraving, his precious paw print. The service provided was exceptional in every way. In one of the most painful moments of our lives, West Coast Pet Memorial gave us peace and a final memory of our beloved dog that we will cherish forever. We are endlessly grateful. read more

Context: I did not work with West Coast Pet Memorial Services directly and thus can't speak to their customer service. This review is limited to the ashes and keepsakes I got from them for my late cat. Last week I lost my cat of 12 years, Oliver, to cancer. He passed away fairly suddenly when I took him to Animal Speciality Group (VCA) in Glendale because he had been throwing up non-stop and seemed to be in pain. Turns out his tumor had been bleeding internally and he was severely anemic and the cancer had apparently spread aggressively across large portions of his body, so I made the difficult but necessary decision to let him cross the rainbow bridge. At ASG/VCA, I purchased a cremation and keepsakes package, which I would later learn was being handled by West Coast. I just got the urn and keepsakes today in the mail and I really could not be any happier (other than if I could get my little buddy back). The wooden urn I chose was just beautiful, but I am especially blown away by the small vial with his hair inside of it; West Coast made a point to display his black and white fur in a beautiful pattern so I can always remember my tuxedo boy. I also did not ask or even pay extra for a paw print but I was so emotional and glad to find that West Coast had prepared one for me anyway. My heart goes out to those reading this who are experiencing the loss of their pet. The services West Coast Pet Memorial provided were beautiful and brought us comfort at a time of unbearable pain. I had to write a 5-star review to memorialize our experience, and to have ready to recommend my friends when the time does come. I have relatives who have been quoted exploitative prices in the thousands for pet cremation from other places, so their choices were very narrow and traumatizing. Fortunately, here it was really affordable for a private cremation for a small dog and we had a selection of beautiful keepsakes to choose from. Our beloved dog Big Bear, an 8-lb Pomeranian just shy of his 16th birthday, passed away at the emergency vet on Monday. I picked up his ashes on Saturday and buried him on Sunday. The emergency vet had a partnership with West Coast Pet Memorial Services. I received an email to call about cremation services and keepsakes. The staff were very kind, offering their condolences. The private cremation service was affordable, less than $200 for a small dog, and came with a few complimentary urns. We opted to pay for a biodegradable urn with pressed flowers so we could bury his remains in the garden. For the keepsakes, we purchased clay paw prints, ink paw prints, ink nose prints, and fur clippings. We wondered if we were doing too much, but we have no regrets! The keepsakes were great quality, and so, so good. The prints were all so well done. My brother got the fur clippings, which I decided not to get because I had clipped some fur myself, and I wished I got my own because the sight of his fur and the volume in the baggie brought me such comfort. When I went to pick up his remains, the place was quiet and clean. The staff were really kind. Another person came in saying they were bringing in their pet. No matter how your goodbye looks, I trust this place to handle with care and tenderness. My family and I are truly grateful. read more

Ugh, the worst review to write. We lost my fur baby recently and our vet put us in touch with West Coast Pet Memorial. They called promptly the day after her passing and were very professional on the phone. The process was very simple to get her cremated and to select the urn we wanted. With the private cremation, they have a selection of complimentary urns to choose from but more for purchase on their website. Included is also a paw print imprint which I am grateful for. I'll have to update my review once I get my pup's ashes back but overall, for a really sucky thing to happen, they made the process afterwards seamless. We'll be picking up our urn directly from out vet so we don't have to go too far out of our way. Thoughts go out to all the folks having to write a review for this business. read more

Every single one of those cremation services without a doubt I was met with a warm hearted, polite and genuinely friendly environment alongside the employees. After the buy-out and name change this place has gone down hill QUICK. Firstly, after euthanizing my horse his body was sent to West Coast Pet Memorial. I not so kindly greeted with a phone call from a Carlos. He RUDELY demanded a $2,000 payment that DAY, IN FULL or they will NOT RELEASE MY OWN HORSES BODY TO ME. He said my horse would enter their community cremation, and I would be losing him practically a SECOND time. This was very shocking and gut wrenching as Guardian Animal Aftercare offered a payment plan alongside the cremation of my FIRST HORSE that I used their services for. Let's also not ignore the crazy price spike, as I only paid $1300 for my previous horses cremation. I questioned this and was greeted by Carlos slyly saying "Maybe you should've done your own research and it wouldn't be a problem." This is NOT the experience ANYBODY should be met with while experiencing the loss of a beloved pet. I made the mistake of being a loyal customer and trusting that they would not go corporate, or corrupt would be the better way to put it. I ended up making ends meet and paid $2,000 on the spot to essentially get my dead horses body out of a hostage situation. Way to take advantage of people. ADDED NOTE : I wrote this review during the middle of 2024. It has been sitting in my drafts since. In just two years my $2000 "wooden" chest is cracking, flaking and falling apart. AS SOON as I received the cremation chest, I had to manually redo the hinges as they were put in improperly. Our beautiful Princess passed away after 15 beautiful years at our side, loyal, sweet, gentle, and so loving. The team at west coast Pet memorial was amazing to work with! We had to put our dog of 14 years down after his arthritis became so bad he couldn't walk. We made arrangements with West Coast Pet Memorial for his aftercare, and at every step of the way they were accommodating, helpful and kind. the team showed up to take our dog right on time, and were very gracious about giving us a moment to give a last goodby to our beloved pet. Billing was taken care of in advance so as to not interrupt our last moments with our pet. The team remained patient even as we had trouble communicating through the grief. The team communicated after the cremation was complete, and sent us a very nice series of emails to let us know where our Dog's ashes were scattered in the pacific. We really appreciated the patience, kindness and care that all the staff at west cost pet memorial showed us. Hard review to write - but I hope it helps someone who may need it. Back in March, we lost our elderly rescue cat, Dorfy. We opted for cremation and the emergency vet clinic helped us get all set up with Cal Pet - and it was a real relief! We had as great of an experience with them as one can expect in a time like this. It was such an easy process - we filled out all the paperwork at the vet clinic. And then a few days later, we spoke to Cal Pet staff on the phone to discuss what urn we wanted and engraving and all that and to pay over the phone. They even offer a home delivery service for an extremely reasonable price! Totally worth it for me not to have to drive all the way out to Sun Valley. And I highly recommend the home delivery also bc it's a tough thing to experience (extremely emotional) so at least you're comfortable in your own space. It did take quite a while for us to receive our pet's ashes - almost a full two weeks. But it was a smooth process - we had zero issues. And we absolutely loved the urn! We got a cherry wood urn with an engraving plate. Very nice quality and their prices are excellent! Way less than I expected to pay. They give you a choice of a private cremation or community cremation (or group cremation - can't remember exactly what it was called). The private cremation is exactly as it sounds - just your pet by itself and you receive the ashes. The community cremation is a group of animals cremated together and then the ashes spread somewhere nice as a final resting place. We chose the private cremation. We also opted for the paw print memory where they make a clay impression of your pet's paw. I just love it - such a nice touch. They include a certification guaranteeing the private cremation, as well as a sweet condolence card with the rainbow bridge poem. Very touching! Made me cry like a baby of course lol. My Dorfy was the absolute SWEETEST cat I ever knew - all he wanted was pets, cuddles, and food lol! I don't think he ever left my lap anytime I was on the couch. And he would always reach his little paw out for more love anytime I stopped petting him lol! I'm so devastated but I feel like Cal Pet helped my grieving and gave me some closure. It's an emotional journey riding out the days between last goodbye and first receiving a beloved pet's ashes. Yet while West Coast did everything as promised, why the missing star? I've made that fateful drive here several times before, when it was known as CalPet. The gentleman who emerged from the back was always kind and empathetic, and made my brief time in that claustrophobic waiting room about as bearable as one could hope. But since the corporate buyout, he seems to have been replaced by a young soul, who treated the transfer of my beloved pet's ashes with all the empathy you'd expect at a CVS drive-thru. "Got ID? Sign here. Be right back. [laughter from the back room] Sorry about your loss." [cold & unfeeling] I had to steady my nerves in the parking lot before attempting to drive. That's what cost your company one star, Mr. Scott, because it pulled ALL the stars out of my sky. Is it too much to ask to offer grieving clients a reunification that honors the life of the pet, and the love that's now only a memory in the heart of the pet parent? A little empathy training is all it would take, to enable grieving people to start healing right from that indelible moment of reunification. read more

The above review was my experience at CalPet. I used the cremation service there for 4 dogs and 1 cat during 2015 - 2022, and my experience was consistently satistfactory. The fees ranged from $110 for a 90 pound dog in 2015 to $110 for a 16 pound cat in 2022. in late 2022, West Coast took over CalPet. In March 2025, one of my beloved cats passed away due to cancer, and I brought him to West Coast for cremation. The fee now is $194 for an 8 pound cat. They no longer allow pet owner to present during cremation, so I told them I want to do prayer while my pet is cremated. They said it would be about 10AM on Tuesday. At about noon on Monday, I called to ask them if they would allow me to park at their parking lot and pray for my cat during the cremation on Tuesday. They said were cremating him. read more

We lost our beloved pet cat Peewee and they gave her a dignified cremation and she was placed in a beautiful cedar box and that was placed in a plush velvet bag and then a nice blue bag to bring her home in. The staff was very helpful on the phone as well as in person. The first person I spoke to was Carmen and it was close to closing time. But she took her time with me and went above and beyond the call of duty to make this tough time a little easier. *Part 2 of the most heartbreaking reviews I've ever had to write* Not sure how much Yelpers know about animal euthanasia; but I received a crash course with the recent succumbing of my 17 year old Queen, Agora to renal failure (the bestest cat EVER!!! She my was my soul mate and reason to live and I would do ANYTHING to have her back waaaaa!! I will see you in the next life, Agora!). Apparently, when you have to make the horrible decision to euthanize a pet with your local vet; they work with an area crematory whom you pay separately for their services. You don't get to chose what crematory the vet works with and there aren't many in LA. Basically, they have monopolies over jurisdictions. I lost the love of my life at Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital where they work with Cal Pet Crematory in Sun Valley. Unfortunately, I experienced a HUGE hiccup that must be addressed... While at Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital; I was advised that although I pay them for the procedure; I fill out a separate form for Cal Pet Crematory to finish the job and reduce my babe to ashes (waaa, again!). This form contains your contact info, pet name and your choice of services as you can choose from group cremation or private cremation which costs more. There are people who choose group cremation?! What is wrong with you!? It is of no cost to have the ashes returned to the vet for pickup or for an extra $40; Cal Pet will deliver the ashes to your home. You can also visit their website to choose a special urn for your beloved. Cal Pet then calls you after waiting a few days (to let you respectfully grieve), you pay over the phone and after payment is received; they perform the cremation. Here is where shit got bad: I waited several days and heard nothing from Cal Pet and I was starting to worry. It is all fine and dandy that they wait; but I had a bad feeling and I wanted Agora home with me. I called the vet and they said just to give it some more time. I waited a week and a day and I knew something was wrong. I personally called Cal Pet and spoke to a Latina gal who didn't sound at all empathetic or like she gives a shit about her job. I explained that they haven't called me in over a week and I was starting to panic. She found my information and turns out: THEY HAD THE WRONG NUMBER! SUPPOSEDLY, they called the wrong number multiple times and left voicemails. But the thing is: A) this was THEIR ERROR IN PUTTING THE NUMBER IN THE SYSTEM because I triple-checked the form at the vet and it was 100% correct! B) If they supposedly weren't reaching me, CALL THE VET TO TRY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME! You're just going to let my cat just "hang out"?! I instantly burst into tears. Yes, mistakes happen but this is NOT the industry to make a mistake and COMMON SENSE SAYS CALL THE VET TO REACH ME! This girl connected me to a manager named Shane whom at least was much more versed at customer service than her. He agreed that this is NOT a mistake that should have been made and that yes, they should have called the vet or taken additional steps. He agreed that I am mourning and grieving and don't need this additional bullshit. Shane took responsibility and although I still had to pay for the private cremation ($140); he gave me free shipping to my home in 2-days so that Agora can come home ASAP and also let me choose ANY urn I wanted off the Cal Pet website. They have various options from bamboo to stone, from traditional to figurine statues. I chose the "Cozy Tabby" urn ($60) which is a heavy resin cat-shaped statue urn. The Cal Pet delivery guy called me two days later as expected to say he was on the way and also called when he arrived. He gave me his condolences (of course I started to cry immediately thinking about my life mate reduced to ashes inside this cardboard box). The Cozy Tabby urn is amazing, though, and way better than the website photo. It is a heavy, legit statue of great craftsmanship with Agora's ashes inside a heavy plastic medical-grade bag in the bottom (it is almost like a piggybank). I absolutely love the urn. Even if ashes, I'm so glad to have Agora home. Although, I am pleased that Shane took responsibility for their error/behavior and gave me free shipping and a free urn of my choosing; the damage is still done and there is a sour taste in my mouth with Cal Pet Again, I realize mistakes are made but this is an industry that should never have any. I suggest in the future that they call THE VET IF YOU PRESUMABLY CAN'T REACH THE PET OWNER! Plus, the receptionist girl needs customer service lessons especially if she is going to be working in an industry dealing with the passing of family members! Hard to review with a broken heart. Found this place in 2018 when we lost our Rescue Deaf Maltese Princeton tragically...the vet we used to go to sent his precious body here for cremation and we picked him up. So when our Baby Girl Penny passed January 20 of 2021, 2 weeks ago...I knew to call them directly as they accept drop offs and we wanted to personally hand our Penny to them. Penny thrived for almost a full year with heart disease. She was the only girl of our family, and she got everything and anything she wanted. I still miss Princeton every day and didn't want to lose my Penny she let us know that it was her time. We did our best to care for her, had her seeing a vet cardiologist and she was made as comfortable as possible in her care through this disease but there was only so much our Penny could go through. She passed away in my husband's arms, her daddy and we told her how much we love her. We didn't want to see her suffer one more day. She was always the best little girl ever ! She listened and took her meds, Ate her dinner because I asked her to and when we told her she can go....that we will be ok and we love her, she passed away...and she took a piece of our heart with her. Our Penny waited for us to tell her she didn't have to fight anymore. She was loyal to the very end. It was midnight so Cal pet was closed. I called the very next morning and spoke to Craig, he was able to look us up from the passing of our precious Princeton and helped me out by filling out all our information. I'm going through my own health issues and appreciate how he accommodated us as best as possible in our grief while keeping my health priority. Within 2 days, we were able to pick her up and Craig helped us out through it all. Offered his condolences and we have her home with us. We miss her joy and happiness in our home but we know she's bossing around her little brother Princeton and I just know that they're together again & that they both lived a life full of love with us. We still have our Yorkie, our 3rd senior furbaby and we are going to do the best we can to keep him happy. We were Blessed and thank God for allowing us to have the love of Penny and Princeton in our lives. We celebrated Penny's 14th birthday in July, had her for Thanksgiving, my birthday, Christmas and New Years...she accompanied me to all my medical appts in 2020, every one of them and waited in the car with her daddy. She had her first boat ride in 2020 as well and when she was feeling good , she made the best of it. We know this crematory may not know the history or lives of all the pets they receive but we thank Cal Pet Crematory for giving us all closure in our time of sorrow. If you're a pet parent who suffered a loss, my broken heart goes out to you and understand your pain. Everything worked so well. The coordination with my Vet and Cal Pet. I was on Jury Duty that week so I wasn't free to be driving around which was a concern on Sunday night. What do I do? A friend said, take Skip to the Vet (Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group) and they know what to do. And I was able to do that first thing Monday morning before heading over to Jury Duty. They jacked up their prices almost triple and provide you with "Garbage " so called fancy cardboard boxes that they now charge almost 200 dollars for their most basic package!!! Horrible What they have done in effect, is triple the prices, gouging emotionally distraught people and offer them set packages with very Little choices and pushing much more expensive ones if they want any type of quality as was previously offered by the well established family business. I spoke to a woman leaving in absolute shock when she walked out of CAL Pet paying them 800.00 for a stupid necklace and the cremation for her dog. Be ware, this corporation is buying up all the pet crematoriums in California and monopolizing the Business!!!! This place is fantastic. Although a little hard to find, totally worth it. The staff is very sweet and passionate. They talk with you, give you time with your pet. They explain everything to you and they give you a hand full of options for your beloved pet. 4th of July fireworks gave my sweet kitty a heart attack and they took her in right away and she was back in my arms 3 days later. They were so nice. Bruce came out to the car and got Donut. He said he would treat him like his own! They gave condolences for our loss. They give you a complementary container and box. Today is Monday, and I dropped Donut off around 5. He will be ready for pick up on Wednesday. Other places charge a lot more and you have to buy an urn from them which is extra! read more

12-19-20: Losing a pet is never easy...they become family. Back in July 2007 when my mom started getting sick, we had found Butch. He was only 3 mos old. I helped get him adopted so Mom could finally have the pug she always wanted. He was such a happy lil knucklehead and made us happy even when things got tough. We knew once Butch hit 10 years old it would be a matter of time...during his life, we lived through 3 of our other dogs passing - along with Mom passing. The morning of 12-19-20 at almost 14yo, Dad and I found Butch had passed in his sleep peacefully. Thanks to Cal Pet for always being supportive during this process and allowing us to be able to bring Butch home in time for XMAS this year... read more

I am totally crushed by the way my beloved dog's cremation was handled. I was by myself at 3 in the morning when my dog had to be put down suddenly and wasn't thinking super clearly and incorrectly assumed I could trust my dog to be taken care of. A few days after my dog passed I got a call informing me that my dog's tag hadn't burnt, didn't I want to keep it? I was horrified to discover that they hadn't taken off my dog's collar and ID tag. He had a really nice leather collar with his name embossed in it that I'd wanted as a keepsake and I was never given the chance. I got his ashes today. Their urn options aren't very nice so I chose the most basic one assuming I would move the ashes into one of my own choosing, but it's screwed shut. The name tag was completely charred and rusty with no evidence of his name on it -- I should have predicted this but I wish this had been made clear to me, I just find it upsetting. They also included this weird certificate that presents it like some great honor that I chose to cremate my dog with them. I am already so sad over losing my sweet dog and not being able to commemorate him as I wanted to has made it even sadder. read more

Cal Pet has been, sadly, my go to place over all my years as a pet parent. They are professional, kind and the Poodles they have in the waiting room at times are so great. Craig is amazing. Sadly they took away the option to have a viewing which is very important to me. With that, I'll need to find a new crematory to go to for my recent loss. It's also my reason for only 3 stars as they are no longer the best place to go to in my opinion. read more

Cal Pet Crematory helped us deal with a difficult situation in the most professional manner. Our hearts were broken one very early morning (5:00 am) when we woke up to find our beloved husky, Luna, had passed away. It was devastating. We could not find a local pet aftercare services place open before 9:00 am so when the clock struck 9:00 we began making calls. Most calls rang and rang, one was kicked to voice mail after 2 rings but Cal Pet was there to answer my call. The lady helping me on the phone showed me compassion and empathy both during the call and in person. She helped me figure out what my best option was and that was to take Luna's body to Cal Pet Crematory. The process was quick and seamless which was very much appreciated as our hearts were/still are forever broken. The last thing my family needed was to have bad service that morning. Luna was taken away by two staff in a very gentle manner but we were first allowed to say our goodbyes while they patiently stood by. One week later Luna was ready to get picked up. I appreciate the way she was delivered to us. We purchased a paw print which was wrapped in box with silver bow. The package included a personalized certificate. Luna was the second pet we have lost.
