My baby, Deieson and me, Thanksgiving, 2021
    Shelley W.

From my very first interaction with Guardian Animal Aftercare, now known as West Coast Pet Memorial to my last, each and every encounter was met with extreme professionalism, kindness and concern. I completely understand why Guardian Animal Aftercare has a perfect 5 out of 5 star rating, and I absolutely agree in every way. Laura assisted me and put me at ease with the process, assuring me with visual proof as to how my baby would be taken care of and not lost in the process. Shannon is one of the most compassionate, empathetic and kind human beings I have ever met and she was willing to help me in my time of need in any way that she was able. My baby was taken care of with love and when he was returned to me, every detail was beautifully put together to keep my memory of him alive. I highly recommend Guardian Animal Aftercare. Thank you so much for your kindness.

Such a heartbreak losing my precious mare. I had her brought to Guardian and am so grateful for the service they provided. I brought home in a beautiful wooden chest. Her red mane was braided with green ribbons along with a lock of her mane and her forelock. Her shoes were polished and is a separate velvet pouch. Her ashes were in a large velvet bag. I will treasure. having her with me always.

Losing my beloved Louis was a horrific experience. Guardian Animal Aftercare was so helpful in answering all of our questions and treating us with kindness during a very difficult time. It was very important to us that our dog have a private cremation. There was also a lovely assortment of urns and options to choose from. We got everything which was offered...a paw print with a little fur vial, an ink print of his nose and paw, hair tufts, and two urns (one to keep at my apartment and a larger one for my parents home). Everything was presented so beautifully in blue velvet bags and boxes and came exactly as expected. They offered us time if we needed to say goodbye to our baby and did not rush us. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a similar experience.

Thank you to Shannon from Guardian Animal Aftercare for her kindness and compassion... our beautiful girl BISS. GRCH. OTCH Aratone Foxglove Make Men Blush "Nars" passed away, and we entrusted Nars to them. Shannon brought us to a private room where I could say my last goodbyes. I remember there was an aquarium in the room, and for some reason the fish in there, having that life in there, was consoling to me. Shannon was so kind and understanding. For 15 years, Nars was my loyal companion. Her passing hit me so much worse than any beloved dog we have lost in the past. 15 years was just not long enough. Every day with her was a privilege and honor. Today, her ashes were returned to me just like they promised. I am so heartbroken and sad, but Thank You for helping Nars and I in our time of need.

I love the paw print and pretty bag that includes some of her fur. (Angel statue with cat thanks to sissy) pretty plaque and box

Interesting JASSY fact: She was born in the back of a Lexus in my ex husbands car junk yard in Sun Valley, CA approx 20 years ago - Guardian Animal Aftercare is located in same small city- likely a few blocks from where she was born. When I received the call her 'box' was ready for pick up and the location, was the only time I smiled at the irony of it all during this tough time. Admittedly it feels incredibly odd & surreal to write a YELP review and THANK someone for properly and gracefully cremating your best friend, but here I am doing so; truthfully, when BETTER to write a yelp 'thank you' review I guess? Wonderful Dr. Gote brought my beloved Jassy here after she passed in the comfort of my home recently. I trusted his contact here and knew she was literally in good hands. Without over-thinking it (as I dont know the BEST verbiage to show my immense gratitude), MANY THANK YOU's for being so compassionate with my princess, and returning her wrapped in beauty and care. The box & engraving is beautiful; the the organza pouch with her paw print, and fur, tied beautifully with pink ribbon is such a thoughtful touch. A+ turn around time, staff, & communication.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! We drove 40 minutes from Oxnard. We arrived at the place at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, the place was closed the office doors were locked. They close at 4PM Saturday so I arrived on time. We called the office, no answer, called again no answer. No one picks up the phone. The back was open, with cars behind it and gates were open. We beep horn again again no one awnsered. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! I DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE!! Outside the business they are homeless encampments and area is dirty. The place is filthy!!

Our hamster died and I called for a quote on cremation for my little guy. I spoke Caroline and she was so helpful and sweet. Price and customer service is amazing. Beautiful cremation box with the hamsters name on it to comfort my daughter.

Truly so grateful that we found Dr. Jeanette and her partner (forgive me for forgetting names). Our 15.5 year old terrier, Thai, took a quick decline and we knew it was time. I text the doctor and she made herself available the next afternoon, which happened to also be a Saturday. They understood how difficult the process was and treated Thai so sweetly and were incredibly loving and gentle to him - he trusted them without any doubt and was at peace. They were respectful and let us have a moment alone with Thai before taking him in their car in a bed they provided and set up so nicely - even though he was gone, it touched me that he was given a nice space for his ride to their facilities....and a week later (today) we received Thais cremations back through the mail in a beautiful wooden box. Hopefully it will be a long time until we need Guardian Animal Aftercares services, but I cannot recommend them enough and will urge friends to use them. Thank you all for making such a difficult time a little easier and showing our best friend such kindness.

When my beautiful Angel passed I had no idea how to proceed with the next step. Luckily my veterinarian contacted guardian animal to come and pick up my baby. I immediately googled to read their reviews and check their website. I was so pleased to read that the owner of GAA explains how they carefully cremate so no ashes are ever mixed or contaminated. When my baby was ready for cremation , they sent me an email. With tears and heartbreak my heart was torn, but during this vulnerable and difficult time they made it a bit easier. Thank you for what you do!

When Sir Perceval passed away, I immediately remembered them and reached out again. From the first phone call to bringing him home, every single step was handled with kindness, professionalism, warmth, and genuine compassion. Our aftercare specialist, Laura, at the Sun Valley location, stayed with us through the entire process and treated both us and our beloved pup with such dignity and care. The visitation experience was absolutely transformative for our grieving hearts. When we entered the room, Sir Perceval was resting peacefully on a soft bed, covered with a plush blanket, he looked like he was sleeping soundly, covered in a cozy blanket with flowers carefully arranged around him. The room was softly lit, peaceful music played in the background, and there were comfortable sofas where we could sit with him as long as we needed. We cried, hugged him, and said goodbye in a space that felt safe, loving, and deeply respectful. The thoughtful details meant everything to us -- when picking up his cremains, as emotional as it was, we appreciated the elegant, color coordinated packaging, the velvet bag his urn was wrapped in, the lovely engraving, his precious paw print. The service provided was exceptional in every way. In one of the most painful moments of our lives, West Coast Pet Memorial gave us peace and a final memory of our beloved dog that we will cherish forever. We are endlessly grateful.

This review is limited to the ashes and keepsakes I got from them for my late cat. Last week I lost my cat of 12 years, Oliver, to cancer. He passed away fairly suddenly when I took him to Animal Speciality Group (VCA) in Glendale because he had been throwing up non-stop and seemed to be in pain. Turns out his tumor had been bleeding internally and he was severely anemic and the cancer had apparently spread aggressively across large portions of his body, so I made the difficult but necessary decision to let him cross the rainbow bridge. At ASG/VCA, I purchased a cremation and keepsakes package, which I would later learn was being handled by West Coast. I just got the urn and keepsakes today in the mail and I really could not be any happier (other than if I could get my little buddy back). The wooden urn I chose was just beautiful, but I am especially blown away by the small vial with his hair inside of it; West Coast made a point to display his black and white fur in a beautiful pattern so I can always remember my tuxedo boy. I also did not ask or even pay extra for a paw print but I was so emotional and glad to find that West Coast had prepared one for me anyway. I really appreciate the work they did here to memorialize my boy. Thank you, West Coast, for your thoughtful work. Pictures include how I've set up the urn and vial of hair on my little altar for Oliver.

He explained everything clearly, treated Ñoño with dignity, followed up professionally, and most importantly, showed real compassion. He also worked with me on the price when I was in a very difficult spot, and that generosity meant more than I can put into words. What stood out to me most was that he did not make me feel rushed or like just another transaction. We were okay paying so much in order to have his final moments be comfortable at home rather than on a cold clinic table, but we had a pretty awful experience. When witnessing this service in the past from other practitioners, a sedative was given to the dog prior to the lethal injection via IV. For our appointment however, the vet explained that a sedative comes before the lethal injection, but instead of setting up an IV for that, she abruptly stuck him in the back with a needle. He began yelping and crying out in pain and frantically running all over our home VERY distressed. It was at this time that the vet informed us it was likely burning and itching inside of him, despite not warning us about that. I went to grab him and bring him back to the couch so I could hold him and she did the same thing again, causing the same reaction. By the time I got ahold of him and brought him back to the couch again to hold him in my arms he was so sedated he was basically already gone. Completely limp and comatose. I tried my best to position him on my lap on the couch while she did the lethal injection, but at that point he was pretty much gone. So his last moments were spent in pain, burning and itching, crying and confused, and running to find somewhere to hide. It did not feel humane and did not bring us any sort of peace about the already impossible decision. We are both heartbroken because he was truly so innocent and sweet and we went out of our way to try to ensure his final moments were filled with peace and dignity like he deserved, but instead we watched him pass in a state of fear and terror. I'm still a bit in shock over how it all went down, but I wanted to share this feedback for anyone considering going the same route. Respectfully, I would look elsewhere.

She came to my home first thing the next morning. I was worried about my younger Golden Retriever jumping on her or interfering with her care, but she was absolutely wonderful with both of my dogs. She encouraged him to stay in the room with us once he was comfortable with her, and I truly believe that helped him understand what was happening. She was incredibly professional, but I'll never forget one small moment. Out of the corner of my eye, while I was saying my final words and paying my last tributes to my girl, I saw her quietly wiping tears from her eyes. As a healthcare provider myself, I know how often we're expected to wear a mask and stay composed. Seeing that genuine emotion didn't make her seem less professional, it reassured me that she truly cared. In those final moments, your mind races. You question whether you're making the right decision. Seeing her emotion gave me peace because I knew she wasn't simply going through the motions. I knew that if she believed my girl wasn't ready, she would have told me. Most of us are fortunate enough to experience this kind of heartbreak only a few times in our lives. She carries families through it over and over again. That takes an incredible amount of compassion. This is not my first review of our beloved Dr G, and I just recommended her to 6 more people again just these past 2 weeks. I always say to people I give her card to: "you will discover she is an Earth Angel - if she moved to a different town, I'd take my pup there... When you find a great vet, they are Gold! She's not only compassionate, present and knowledgeable, but also she does not oversell." Besides all the regular check ups, Dr G. has performed 2 substantial surgeries on my pup in the last 8 years, and has been extremely kind, providing valuable reassuring step-by-step updates throughout, especially aware that I had lost my beloved first dog, (with a different vet), when he did not make it through the anesthesia... In the 8 years Dr G. has been our one and only vet; everyone I have sent to Dr G. has fallen in love with her, and has thanked me for the referral. I trusted Dr G and her small compassionate team with the euthanasia of my precious second dog, Handsome. She is truly an Angel on Earth. At her Chatsworth location, I love that she's created a lovingly cozy "home environment" for the euthanasia experience. That it so needed during that deeply emotional time, and more veterinary offices ought to follow her example. I found her many years ago when I was dissatisfied with a busy veterinary front desk in Sherman Oaks, after they had made errors in my first dog's chart. Unfortunately he passed, and I learned that finding the RIGHT professional truly makes ALL the difference. So yes, I drive from Sherman Oaks. Gratefully so :) I am thankful that my cherished pups are her patients. Her ethics, her care, her kindness, her knowledge, her integrity - she's our number 1!!!

We scheduled the pickup from my vet's office the next day, but at the last minute I was uncertain and wanted to do one more assessment. Thomas was very accommodating and flexible, allowing me to cancel our appointment and suggested I call later whenever I was ready, since they are a 24-hour service. Ultimately, we did euthanize my cat on that vet visit, and I called to arrange a pickup of her body later that night. Since Thomas was off at that time, I met with his father, Scott, who was also very warm and comforting after such an emotional day. A few days later, I got to meet Thomas when he delivered Cupcake's ashes. There are a few reasons Paw Cremations stands out: - As mentioned, the thoughtful and understanding customer service was foremost. - Second, I love how they refer to your companion animals as your "baby." My cat was my baby, and I appreciate that they treat animals as the family members they are. - Third, I was thankful Thomas took the time to decipher the industry terms around cremation for me, as private, individual, and group cremation are very different things, and flame cremation and aquamation are also different things. The industry terms can be deceptive to lay people, so it was helpful to learn from people in the know so I could feel confident in my choice. - Fourth, they don't try to upsell you anything; they don't exploit your grief. They are straightforward about what they offer and keep it simple. If you want an urn or paw print you can get one, but if you're budget constrained as I was, you still receive your companion's ashes in a respectfully wrapped gift box. - Finally, I like that the cremation chamber itself is painted (they show you a photo). It makes the tragic process of cremation a little bit better when you see they haven't commodified it; they thought to make this last stage of your companion's journey more aesthetic. I appreciated all of these details and was very glad to have found Paw Cremations in my time of need.

When we knew it was time, my wife started to call vets while I tried to sneak in as much extra time with my boy as I could. I can't say Hearts and Halos was the first place that we called, but I can say that I'm so happy that we ended up using their services. Mari was at our house a little over 2 hours after we called. She had a kind and soft presence and was extremely empathetic. She made what is an unavoidably brutal experience just a little bit more manageable. I'm incredibly grateful that this type of service exists. Being able to spend his last moments with him in the place that we were certain he was comfortable and at ease was invaluable.

I don't think you'll regret it. Having to say goodbye to Bear, my best friend in the world and and still the purest love I've ever received, was the saddest day of my life. And figuring out the "right time" was agonizing and I remember feeling so alone. I called Hearts and Halos, and the lady I spoke to was so kind and gave me excellent advice I think all pet parents need to hear when the time comes: only you know what your animal needs and value quality of life over everything else. When that time came, Hearts and Halos scheduled me for the next day and provided their services with great patience, compassion and respect, making an already terrible day a little less terrible. That was 5 years ago. I called them yesterday for a cremation certificate and information on traveling through airports because I've decided it's now time to spread Bear's ashes. The same lady who helped me 5 years ago called me back at 9am this morning. She didn't have all the answers I needed, but that's not the point. The point is she went out of her way to bring us to this full circle moment by again helping me say a different goodbye this time, and providing guidance through another painful phase of letting go. I never got her name, but I always remembered her, that phone call about the right time, and her returning my call today 5 years later. She's exactly the person I needed in those moments. A true blessing from above. Thanks again. - Bear's human
