Losing my beloved Louis was a horrific experience. Guardian Animal Aftercare was so helpful in answering all of our questions and treating us with kindness during a very difficult time. It was very important to us that our dog have a private cremation. There was also a lovely assortment of urns and options to choose from. We got everything which was offered...a paw print with a little fur vial, an ink print of his nose and paw, hair tufts, and two urns (one to keep at my apartment and a larger one for my parents home). Everything was presented so beautifully in blue velvet bags and boxes and came exactly as expected. They offered us time if we needed to say goodbye to our baby and did not rush us. Truly so grateful that we found Dr. Jeanette and her partner (forgive me for forgetting names). Our 15.5 year old terrier, Thai, took a quick decline and we knew it was time. I text the doctor and she made herself available the next afternoon, which happened to also be a Saturday. They understood how difficult the process was and treated Thai so sweetly and were incredibly loving and gentle to him - he trusted them without any doubt and was at peace. They were respectful and let us have a moment alone with Thai before taking him in their car in a bed they provided and set up so nicely - even though he was gone, it touched me that he was given a nice space for his ride to their facilities....and a week later (today) we received Thais cremations back through the mail in a beautiful wooden box. Hopefully it will be a long time until we need Guardian Animal Aftercares services, but I cannot recommend them enough and will urge friends to use them. They truly are exactly what we needed in handling the cremation when our daughters first horse/best friend a true champion Hickory aka Hicktown aka Hicky had to leave this planet! They helped us thru when we struggled with saying goodbye and once he arrived they called to say they just received him and would take very good care of him! Hick was cremated, his tale and forelock were braided and tied with beautiful red ribbon. He arrived back to us in a gorgeous Chestnut colored box. I lost my companion of over 20 years, Winnie Kitty, in May and because I was terrified of handing her over to a service that would not handle everything correctly I spent weeks researching aftercare services all over LA. I ended up calling here and another place nearby. When I called the other place you could tell the person was speaking from a script, so it lacked compassion, and when I asked about price they said it was based on bone density, which seemed shady to me. However when I call Guardian the woman on the phone was very kind and compassionate, upfront about pricing, did not try to upsell me on urns or keepsakes and an all around good feeling. The vet I used for euthanasia handled the hand off but I recieved my Winnie Kitty back within the time I was told. I had ordered an upgraded urn which came out great and I got an adorable clay paw print. Their pricing was on the lower end of all the services I looked into. Long Version: After an absolutely horrible experience with the veterinarian hospital where our sweet girl, Shayna, spent her last days, knowing Guardian Animal Aftercare was her last stop before coming back home gave me a tremendous amount of peace. I called yesterday after the box arrived to find out their policy as I was unaware it was being shipped to us directly. Upon opening the package it was clear they protected everything well and the paw print was made with care, but I was surprised I wasn't notified of the shipment. Prior to calling, I looked at their Yelp page to see if this appeared to be an isolated event due to the veterinarian hospital rather than Guardian. I was quickly able to determine that I definitely had a different experience than the vast majority of pet parents and called to quickly discuss my concerns. While dealing with the veterinarian hospital staff I willed myself not to cry no matter what was happening as they lacked any kindness or compassion, but when I called Guardian Animal Aftercare Helen answered and she was so the complete opposite. Within moments of speaking with her I was bawling! After the events of the last few weeks my faith in humanity was shaky, but Helen helped restore it and I cannot thank her enough! read more

The cremation price was super-reasonable at $140, which included a pawprint in plaster, plus an attractive, nice-smelling cedar box adorned with an engraved plate with the pet's name. I think the $140 price was based partly on the cat's weight and a discount because of the mega-chain animal hospital that referred me. I was told that the normal price of these services for a cat of that size would be $180. Your prices may vary. The site is in a heavily industrialized area, and it's difficult to find street parking. There is a parking lot in the back, but I'd strongly recommend that once you're parked, you walk around the corner to the front entrance, otherwise, you will walk through the bustling crematory, which may not be your cup of tea. I'm a very curious sort, so seeing the behind-the-scenes was very interesting to me, but for a normal person freshly grieving, please consider my advice. read more

I would never imagine that anything having to do with my dogs's death would be a positive experience. Yet, here I am. I did not choose ashes, but wanted the paw print and lock of hair from our furry boy. There was some confusion re delivery and UPS but Carlos (an exemplary employee) jumped right in and made sure that things went smoothly. He was calming, informative, and most of all, CARING. I had just lost a beloved animal and was anxious and sad, especially because UPS didn't deliver when they notified me they would. After several phone calls, Carlos turned it around and I had my cherished boy,s remains back! During grief, we are sometimes not on our best behaviour. Carlos was compassionate and really "knew the ropes." What a blessing that was! He definitely went above and beyond. He and Shannon are an asset to that company. It's such a sad day when one of our furry family members journeys to the Rainbow Bridge. And, for all the unconditional love our numerous pets have given us, my husband I have made a promise to give each one of them dignity and respect when their lives end. For several years now, Guardian Animal Aftercare is the only facility that my husband and I have entrusted to honor that promise. The staff we connected with at Guardian were exceptionally professional and compassionate during our most recent loss. It was on a Sunday. We had rushed our 10 year old cat, "Snappy" a.k.a. "Snaps", back to our vet, who had seen him just two days earlier. Poor little guy had deeply declined very quickly that day, and was in so much pain from his cancer, we had to make the decision to help him pass peacefully. While at the vet's office, literally shaking and grief stricken, with my husband cradling Snaps in his arms, I called Guardian to make aftercare arrangements. Cody was so nice on the phone, and kindly told us that it was no problem for us to bring Snap's body directly to the facility. So very thankful that they were open until 4p on a Sunday. Guardian is located in a heavy industrial and not very pretty area of Sun Valley. Yet, it's easy to spot by the beautiful mural of a boy and his dog on the deep blue building. And, the words "Unconditional Love" on the building. There's plenty of parking in the back of the building. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not enter through the back of the building. It's a work area and not suitable for clients. It's best to walk around to the front where there's a secure entrance. They have a lobby with displays of boxes, urns, memorial keepsakes, and the like, to choose for your pet and to fit your budget. Cody met us at the door, gently taking Snaps from my husband. He handed us a simple form, and answered all of our questions. We were under no pressure, with Cody giving us the space and time we needed to decide how we wanted to honor Snaps. We decided on individual cremation and a paw print. Later that day, my husband wanted to make a small change regarding Snap's cremation. He called and left an after-hours voicemail. Additionally, I called and reached Helen in person the next day during regular business hours. She was so accommodating and reassured me that our little Snaps would be cremated just as we brought him in, wrapped in his bright tropical orange Tommy Bahamas beach towel in his little bed. Initially, we were going to take the towel back home, then thought otherwise. The image of Snaps wrapped in his towel and bed brings some level of comfort to my husband. Helen also took the time to chat with me about our loss and extended the offer of a complimentary grief counseling session with Dr. Kathleen Ayl. We were aware of the counseling when we filled out the form at intake, but I was grateful that Helen took the time to speak with me about the service. A few days later, Guardian promptly called us when Snaps was ready for pick-up. Everything was carefully packaged in a nylon bag and was even nicer than I expected. We received a lovely cedar box with our Snap's cremains, accompanied by a certificate of individual cremation. In addition, we had ordered a plaster paw print which came with a bit of ashes, and a clip of fur, placed in a soft organza bag. Though our hearts are still heavy, we have been greatly comforted by our experience at Guardian Animal Aftercare. I wish that funeral homes for humans operated at this level of professionalism and respect during such a difficult time of loss. read more

This was my first pet and I chose this place because my neighbor referred me here. She was pleased with the services and had 2 pets cremated here. I'll never forget talking to the staff lady on the phone and bringing Dash (my dog) here. The lady was respectful and I was falling apart. The same lady gave me his ashes 5 days later (which they did state 5 to 7 days turn around time). I felt like she was sensitive and I can really appreciate that! The packaging was very lovely!! I lost my beloved Yorkie of over 13 yrs on April 28th and handing her off to someone else was the hardest thing I've done in a long time. From the moment I got there, I was given private and ample time to say goodbye, the whole process was explained to me in great detail, and I was more than reassured that her remains would not get mixed up with other pets (which is a nightmare that is very common in other places). And when it came time to order an urn or other keepsakes, there was never a sense that I was being upsold; in fact, the exact opposite happened. I was kept aware of what was happening and on which day, and I had her back in my possession within 10 days (and that's only because the urn that I purchased was ordered). In terms of the cost, they were super reasonable for my 5 lb. pup (another facility wanted to charge $300 more for the same weight).
