Dr. Chan was amazing. She got down on the floor with us on the cushioned bed we made and explained every step clearly and made sure we understood clearly. We never felt rushed and she listened to our stories about our quirky wonderful dog, Clarence. She encouraged us to give Clarence a cookie before she gave him a sedative. He barely noticed when she injected the sedative. In fact, we gave him another cookie and he fell asleep with the 2nd cookie in his mouth. She waited until he was completely relaxed before she put the IV in, gave us a chance to talk to him and say goodbye again and waited until we gave her the okay to give him the heart-stopping medication and waited patiently until we were ready for her to confirm his heart had stopped. Then Dr. Chan waited patiently until we were ready for her to gently bundle him up and take him away. It was such a peaceful and loving death. I am reluctantly leaving this review after a really heartbreaking experience on Friday. We had an appointment scheduled for an in home euthanasia for our sweet senior dog. We were okay paying so much in order to have his final moments be comfortable at home rather than on a cold clinic table, but we had a pretty awful experience. When witnessing this service in the past from other practitioners, a sedative was given to the dog prior to the lethal injection via IV. For our appointment however, the vet explained that a sedative comes before the lethal injection, but instead of setting up an IV for that, she abruptly stuck him in the back with a needle. He began yelping and crying out in pain and frantically running all over our home VERY distressed. It was at this time that the vet informed us it was likely burning and itching inside of him, despite not warning us about that. I went to grab him and bring him back to the couch so I could hold him and she did the same thing again, causing the same reaction. By the time I got ahold of him and brought him back to the couch again to hold him in my arms he was so sedated he was basically already gone. Completely limp and comatose. I tried my best to position him on my lap on the couch while she did the lethal injection, but at that point he was pretty much gone. So his last moments were spent in pain, burning and itching, crying and confused, and running to find somewhere to hide. It did not feel humane and did not bring us any sort of peace about the already impossible decision. We are both heartbroken because he was truly so innocent and sweet and we went out of our way to try to ensure his final moments were filled with peace and dignity like he deserved, but instead we watched him pass in a state of fear and terror. I'm still a bit in shock over how it all went down, but I wanted to share this feedback for anyone considering going the same route. Respectfully, I would look elsewhere. read more

When I had to put my Pumpkin to sleep I made two good decisions. 1) I had it done at home where she could lay on her favorite spot on the coach and be surrounded by love instead of a sterile vets office she was terrified of. 2) I had it facilitated by Dr Chan at Peaceful Paws LA. Although my dog was almost 15-I was not prepared for the day that I needed to euthanize him. On Thursday he was in great shape, happy eating active. My tortoiseshell calico Turtle had been struggling with Chronic Kidney Failure for over half a year. After Two major hospitalizations, she stopped responding to at-home treatment. Her last couple checkups showed her values were going up again and we made her comfortable and let her do whatever she wanted until the day she was ready to go. Originally we were going to take her in to see the vet that has seen her through her illness, but the idea of taking my baby girl at the end of her life to a stressful and unfamiliar place tore me up inside. Dr. Lottati at TrueCare suggested Dr. Tamera Chan for helping her pass at home. I reached out and scheduled an appointment through their website and got a confirmation early the next day since we scheduled after business hours. Dr. Chan was scheduled to show up at 3:00 and showed up almost on the dot. She was very gentle, informative, incredibly sweet and I really don't think I could have shared that experience with anyone else. She prepared us for everything and even gave us the option to spend more time with her after she passed. We decided it hurt us more to see her gone, so Dr. Chan took her. I immediately got a sweet message and a link for mementos and how to take care of her remains. Again, they didn't make me feel rushed. They gave me a couple days to grieve before making my decision on how to honor her. They have a lot of options for urns and necklaces for holding ashes. I decided on a little heart-shaped urn and a necklace to keep her close. (I will try to remember to post pictures when we have received them.) I had heard this company was good but had no idea just how good. They came to my home within 1.5 hours of my call and Dr. Chan was professional, warm and kind. She explained everything that was going to happen so we were prepared.
