This was the first veterinarian's office I took my rescue dog to when I moved to the area and I…read morehave not been elsewhere because of the outstanding, professional service we have received there. I have always had positive and accommodating treatment from the office staff and all the vet techs and doctors as well. On my most recent routine visit we had an appointment with Dr. Johns and Hailey the vet tech was assisting us as well. Hailey was the sweetest and took her time to understand our situation and gave us useful information. As always Dr. Johns was pleasant and affable. She provided us with useful information and was never pushy on any course of treatments, etc. It should also be highlighted that the office is always clean and orderly. There is ample parking in the shopping center parking lot making it an easy experience. We appreciate the excellent staff at Sarasota Veterinary Center and will continue to return so that they can care for my senior dog.

It was all I could do not to gag. When I went into the kennel area, it looked clean and didn't smell as bad as the front desk area. While there needs to be an extreme make-over to the facility and some serious organization, our pets seemed fine at pick up. The price is very economical so if that is what is important to you, go for it. Our dogs are used to a nicer/cleaner environment so we will not be returning.

Short version: Zero…read morestars is more fitting. Did mobile at the house. Blind old dog. Came back in THIRTY MINUTES, bleeding in multiple spots. Having him put down soon, so gave second chance. Told them it was his last appointment before he is put down. They forgot. Long version: I realize we all have different standards regarding what constitutes as bad, mediocre, good and excellent. I can confidently say 90% of the population will think they are BAD. I had them come to our house to groom my blind 16-year-old Bichon. They took LITERALLY 30 minutes with him. Bichons have different grooming needs, and require much more time and attention. When she rang the bell I thought she had a question; no she was finished already. BEFORE HAND I told her to be mindful of his warts. She did not give one f, he came back with half of his warts bleeding because they quickly and carelessly shaved right over everything. I am putting him down soon, and new to the area. I thought I'd give them a second chance and that perhaps I needed to explain things to them like I would to a 4th grader, and it would be ok. They are supposed to be here at 11 today, so I texted to confirm. It wasn't even on their radar. I know all of our own struggles are our own, but you'd think they'd remember someone in partial tears calling to make their pup's last grooming appointment. She even blathered on about how her son is a vet tech. Then had the finger pointed at me asking if I told them it was an at-home grooming. I said yes, I asked if you still had our address on file. I'm actually happy this happened, my gut told me to find someone new, and I will take ownership over being willing to give them a second chance. I shouldn't have even considered it based off my little man's last experience with them. That part is on me. The rest is on them. If they forget an appointment that is a last appointment ever, made by a person in partial tears who explained the situation, then they CLEARLY do not care about the animals.

Was my Aussie groomed or abused? I brought my sweet, gentle,…read moreminiature Aussie, Bindi to Kelly's Pet Grooming, 6579 Gateway Avenue last week. Her fur was thick and long, but not tangled or matted because she is brushed nightly. I requested a teddy bear cut with a powder puff tail. When I returned to get her I did not even recognize her. She had been totally shaved. She has multiple razor burns on her back and neck, blood oozing from her nipples, several nicks and cuts under her tail area. I can only imagine her terror as the clippers came toward her face. She was also shaved around her eyes and mouth. Why? Why would anyone do this to a dog? She was traumatized. After returning home she just laid on the floor softly moaning. For over two days, she only moved to go outside to relieve herself. I am sure she does not understand why, after devoting herself to us for 11 years, I left her to be treated like that. I will never forgive myself for taking her there, but I hope Bindi will forgive me for doing so.

They have my info but asked for it again. Now, a week later they won't answer the phone or return calls. Last time they canceled (after the appointment time) it was due to an injury supposedly. This time not a call at all and no response. I'm particularly upset because I got called into work today and had my husband rearrange his busy schedule to wait for him. Very dissapointed. Unprofessional and inconsiderate. Kyle seemed like a nice guy and I know many who have used his services in the past. One of them warned me of his unreliability. Too bad.

I thought I was going to have to keep my guard up from the last place but Bryan, a nurse there, was the first person my cat, Oscar, and I met and he was so warm-natured towards animals and so present and ready to meet my cat that I knew I was in good hands. Then we met Dr. Retean. What a blessing and fresh breath of air she was/is. I was so nervous and anxiety ridden and her demeanor and softness towards Oscar was reassuring. She noticed the details about him, asked questions, presented options (specific to his best needs), corrected a previous poor diagnosis regarding a bump on his tail... and on. I thought Oscar and I scored between her and Bryan... but upon leaving, the front desk women humored me by giving him SO much personal attention. It was so fun, funny, and such a great experience. Taking our pets in can be so high-stress... we don't want them to be scared or in unloving or uncompassionate hands, right? This staff will settle those nerves. They are right up there with the best you can ask for, making sure an uneasy trip to the vet is as least stressful and most-loving as possible. THANK YOU all. We'll see you soon!
