Brought my Lhasa Apso, Noah, here after experiencing many different groomers. I was devastated when Doggie Day Spa in Land Park closed. The owner was fabulous and Noah looked adorable every time. After they closed, somebody referred me to a small place in Carmichael. It was fine the first time, ok the second time, and then not so great the third. His haircut always looked nice and the shop was fine, but his skin kept getting more and more irritated after being there each time (even though I had mentioned it to the lady after the first time) she still kept shaving him too short on his back end so I decided I would find somewhere else for next time. Out of convenience, when I was away for a few months, my mom took him to the groomer at Pet Smart (the dogs go to the vet there). The guy did a nice job so I decided to keep taking him there and just requesting the same guy. I couldn't help but notice the following times after being there he would seem very depressed and forlorn for a few days afterwards. He would start shaking when I brought him in there. I don't believe it was the groomer but I think the loud, hectic environment combined with probably being caged up in the back the whole time was just not working for him. Which was why I never took him somewhere like that from the beginning. Go figure. Now, my dog isn't a fan of going to any groomer but I wanted him to be happy afterwards like he was at Doggie Day Spa, not traumatized and uncomfortable like the place in Carmichael and Pet Smart. Now comes in Pro Groomers, finally: They had great reviews on Yelp and looked tiny and quiet... just what I wanted. I made him an appointment and was soooo pleased at how calm it was when we got there. There were only two other dogs at that time. The gentleman (I think he is maybe the owner as well but I cannot remember his name) told me that they usually only keep them for the grooming time so that like 20 dogs aren't there all day long. What a great idea. Duh. He listened to my long babbling talk about my dog and I left feeling like Noah was in good hands. He was ready right on time and when I went to pick him up, not only did he look great, but he seemed HAPPY! It has been 6 days now since his haircut and I can tell he feels great and has since he left there. Noah will absolutely be back for his next haircut! read more

I highly recommend Paw Pros. I've taken my dog Casey to several grooming places from some of the big stores like PetSmart to little shops around town and have never been 100% happy with the way her hair was cut. I was also never convinced that the groomers in these places loved dogs. Paw Pros is what I've been looking for, my little Pom-Shih Tzu comes back with the cut that I like and I can tell Fred loves dogs. Fred and his staff are so great! My Alaskan Sled dog has a TON of hair and other groomers always missed knots in her undercoat & left her smelling only moderately clean. Fred and his staff were able to get her completely knot free and she smelled wonderful when we picked her up. Her lion cut was superb, she looked like a queen. My first visit to them was excellent. I tried to get my 2 dogs in this weekend, but they only appt. available would push out too far as we had plans. So they made a special arrangement to have one of their groomers come in on Monday, even though they are typically closed. I arrived 8 minutes early and sat in front of their location nearly 30 minutes waiting for the groomer to show. Well, Paw Pros has now lost my business. I received no call saying they were running late or that the appt. had been canceled. I will not take my dogs there ever and I will not recommend them again. read more

Walked into this place to see if they could cut my dog's nails and clean his little butt. All the things I refuse to do. I have a little Chihuahua/minpin named Eezee and he has black and white nails, which make it hard to cut. Fred was really friendly and great with my dog. I left my dog with them for about an hour and half. He called me when he was done. Eezee smelt great, ears were cleaned and nails were nice and short. Felt it was time to switch from the "big box" pet grooming services because it was getting so busy my dog would be there sometimes for 5 hours. Once they forgot to call me! Switched to Paw Pros about 4 months ago and I cannot believe the difference in not only service, but my dog. She is so calm there and she is in and out in a couple of hours and she looks great. James is very good with her and the other fur babies I see in there. Love the fact that you can see everything and I think that helps to calm my Coco. Price is great too. read more

I had our cockapoo groomed here today for the first time after moving from the Citrus Heights/Orangevale area. I was very happy with the grooming, the customer service, the time they had my dog and the pricing. I know other reviews described this as "a hole in the wall" but it is nicer and cleaner shop than our former groomer in Citrus Heights. We found Paw Pros when searching online for dog groomers in the Sacramento area. This place was not too far from our home and they had awesome reviews. We initially were going to have our German Shorthaired Pointer, Mossy's, ears cleaned and nails trimmed. However, after we arrived, we decided to spoil him and get the works! Not only were they able to accommodate Mossy, they were also able to squeeze in our Chihuahua, Riley, for the works as well! This was the first time Mossy & Riley have been to the groomers, but we will definitely return to Paw Pros in the future! read more

The area Paw Pros is in isn't the best, but after reading their great reviews I decided to try it. We took our long haired cat in on Sunday & decided to have him shaved- lion cut so he is cooler for the summer. They were awesome with him, we stayed for awhile so he wasn't too stressed & they even let my husband hold him - which helped to keep him calm. When we picked him up we weren't sure how he was going to like it, but when we got home & over the weeks we can tell he loves it! He's an indoor/outdoor cat that adopted us & is living his new do! I have had a couple of very bad experiences with local large chain pet groomers, and it made me skeptical to ever take my dogs anywhere again. I searched Yelp and found this place, not too far from my house. I reluctantly called and made an appointment for my two chihuahuas. Upon arrival I met Fred, who was very friendly, knowledgeable and my dogs loved him. My one chihuahua was only there for a nail appointment and he was very gentle with her and got done quickly. I left my long-haired chihuahua with him for a bath and trim. When I returned to pick up my baby, he looked and smelled wonderful (an experience I never had at the larger groomers), and for the first time my dog wasn't terrified when I picked him up. Friendly and caring staff. Fred and his crew always do the perfect job, and know how to handle our dog who can be overly energetic and nervous at times. They have also been willing to find time in their busy schedule to squeeze us in a couple times when we called same day which is much appreciated. We used to live down the street, now it's a 30 minute drive....but as long as Fred and his troops keep their doors open, we will never go anywhere else. We took our two Shih Tzus, Bruno and Lilly, here for the first time. Paw Pros did a great job with both dogs! The groomer even spent extra time to help the older dog, 11, who had a lot of burs and fox tails in his paws. The groomer stayed more than 30 minutes after closing time to make sure her dog was OK and well groomed! The younger dog, 4, has always been anxious about getting her haircut, specially around her face. This time, however, the groomer cut her hair so nice and short. The man is nice and friendly. This is not a personal attack, but rather my honest observations on the day of my only visit. I hope this review will help the owner get the business up to acceptable standards, as well as, prevent anyone's dogs from undue trauma. I am an experienced dog trainer and a German shepherd expert. I brought my 2 large German shepherds in for a bath. One of them is geriatric. They were both locked in a medium size single dog cage for what the man said would be just a minute. I returned almost 2 hrs later and my dogs were still in the cage. I am livid! The man had over booked or just has insufficient holding, either way, my dogs couldn't even sit down or lay they were so cramped. This is animal cruelty and I will not return with my dogs. Also, the decibel level of some of the equipment, I believe, is dangerous for a dogs hearing. I sat in my car near the side of the building and the noise in this place was more than I could take, much less a dog. I suggest you remain with your dog during their grooming if you do choose this business. Best of luck! read more

I took my two boys (aussie mix and border collie mix) for numerous appointments, and Fred was always so pleasant, accommodating both dogs and making sure they got 100% attention. The noise level was great - important because some places feel chaotic with too many dogs at one time and loud music blaring. When picking them up after, they were ALWAYS happy but calm, with great quality hair cuts and nails. Sad that I lost both boys in the past year or so, but Fred took great care of them even as they were aging. Now have a new furry family member and will be taking him to see Fred as well! read more

I forgot to tell Chelsea Gromit has tracheal collapse (you have to be very careful with his neck). she must have figured it out because Gromit was fine when he came home. no hacking. the clip was clean and his nails are dull YEAH. read more

I am very impressed with this groomer! My dog is 12 years old and has never been to the groomer before so my dog was a little nervous and was a little jumpy. The groomer handled this problem and got the job done!! He treated my dog very nice!! I have a big dog so I know it was not an easy project to get him washed and nails cut. He also got an ear cleaning!! I am on a very limited income and the price was the best in Sacramento hands down!! The experiance was awesome!! I will take my dog back here every time!! I've been taking my mutant oversized 16 lb chihuahua here for almost a year. Fred is just *that* good. My dog was a shelter dog and shows some signs of having had been abused and/or mistrusting men at the beginning of her stay at her new home. When I took her to see Fred, she had some issues at first but by the time I got the call to come pick her up both her and Fred were pals! My dog loves going to see Fred and gets very happy to see Fred when we drop her off. In addition, I've called at some pretty odd times and he's always managed to fit me in a timely manner. We're giving this groomer five stars because we took our two year old, overly excitable Aussie for a full groom (bath, hair cut, and nail trimming) and they were incredibly patient, skilled, and genuinely friendly. They also have a good sized thrift store right next door if you want to do a bit of browsing before picking up your pup. When we went in too early to pick up our doggy, we decided to go next door to wait and when he was ready to go, the groomer just came over and got us. They do professional work for a great price!
