Enough beer choices for everyone to pick something they love. Industrial wear house setting- with heaters. Bar service was solid at the bar- not much in the dining room area though. I'll start with I'm not a big beer drinker. My sisters are, so we visit a lot. This place feels like it's way out in the middle of nowhere but it didn't take long to get there and it wasn't far from everything! My sisters loved their beers. I chose a cider that came in a can and didn't love it, but the atmosphere was good and the service was good. read more

This is my favorite brewery in the Charleston area. Atmosphere wise Pawley's is very laid back with a very nice large bar, a mixture of short and long tables, and even some rocking chairs on the porch. There is a basketball hoop out front, picnic tables outside, and corn hole if you feel the urge to play. The bartenders are always very friendly and open to a good chat and answer any and all questions you may have which I appreciate because I am a very chatty customer. Now on to the most important thing...the beer. Over the years my beer tastes have evolved from lager to IPA to wheat beer. Pawley's has all of these and more. My favorite for the summertime is their Coquina Wheat Ale. They also have a version of their Coquina Wheat which is brewed with mango and is amazing, slightly fruity, and very refreshing. Their Little House IPA is also great and my husband loves the stout. Lastly their beer "What the Shell?" tastes great and is also a collaboration with the SC Aquarium and part of the proceeds of this sale go to Sea Turtle Rescue so I always try to get one of these for the good cause! Overall their beer is good, their prices are good, and the atmosphere is good, what more could you ask for in a brewery? Oh and just a little fyi, they are dog friendly here and located just one block down from holy city brewing. read more

I finally made it to Pawleys Island Brewing Company today, and I am glad I did! I tried a flight of four of their more refreshing/fruit-forward beers: Coquina Wheat Ale (pale American wheat ale) Juicy House Mango (IPA) Coquina Mango (fruity wheat) Bomb Island Berliner (Berliner weisse) All four were excellent, but the Bomb Island Berliner was my favorite. We also had a pretzel with spicy beer cheese; it was quite tasty. They have plenty of parking in a large lot, and the brewery is dog friendly. I'd love to come back on a day where they have a food truck. read more

Pawley's Island brewery is great addition to Charleston's growing craft brewing scene. Recently opened, and located in North Charleston, we stopped by one lazy Sunday afternoon and checked them out. Located like most breweries in a warehouse type location, they have ample parking and the open feel with covered patio is nice. There are some picnic tables very close to sit in the sun. The beer menu had 9 beers that should please all with lagers, pilsners, IPAs and more. Be sure to ask for samples, as I tried the Bashale (red imperial ale) and found it just too hoppy for me. But Big Sandy lager & Pawleys Pale ale had the staple crisp beer and flavor that was enjoyable. We limited to just one beer this time, but really like the set up and will return. A little hard to find but that gives this brewery an "in the know" vibe once you arrive - a little like a speakeasy. It's in an industrial area (heck - it's located on Industrial Ave!), with garage type doors that open, exposing the taproom and brewery. We ordered two flights which included each beer on tap (8 I think). Here's the skinny - the beers were all very good. My table of old (and I mean old) beer drinkers were impressed that each brew was so tasty, especially for a new brewery. I liked the IPA and my wife liked the pineapple and grapefruit brews - neither of which was sweet. She enjoyed how "flavorful and fresh" they both tasted. The vibe was very laid back, and the price was a winner for us at $5 a pint. It's dog friendly - there's a ton of parking but there's no food yet (ownership says it's in the works). The only recommendation I'll make is improving the music selection. They need to find some tunes that match the coolness of the place (no Journey). Overall - it's a winner and we wish them much success! Looking forward to returning soon! read more

Came to Pawley's Island Brewing with a group of four and shared a flight and two beers. My personal favorite was the pineapple and fruit beer. The only compliant I have is it was so hot in this place, they definitely need to invest in some more fans and maybe some more snacks. read more

For my first time I wasn't overly impressed. The beer wasn't as cold as it should be, we were the only people here and the staff didn't talk to us except to get our drinks. I'd like to try this place again on a different day in hopes this was just a one time thing. read more

Been trying to get here since they opened as I'd heard good things about them. Stopped by on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy which suited us fine as we like to talk to the barkeeps at the breweries we visit. The gentleman that was on duty that day was engaging and knowledgeable about their beers and the flight of IPAs I had were excellent. Will definitely be back to visit soon. They have a couple of TVs in the bar area so you can catch whatever sport/game is on. read more

The brewer and owner are in a lot of the time, so it's fun to catch them and see what this place is all about. This brewery was 6th on our trip to IOP. I gotta say... I'm super impressed. Beer is good. Service is top notch. First brewery we have been to that the server gave us a run down of the menu of beer and made suggestions. After speaking with him he gave us some history of how the Ale Trail and how it began. Super friendly and knowledgeable...and he is only there on Thursdays! So make a plan to hit this place while you're visiting. Fantastic new brewery and tap room. They have a diverse selection of excellent beer and the brew master and owners are very knowledgeable and you can tell that they are proud of what they are creating. We got a brief tour of the facility and it was fascinating to learn how they brew their beer. It is also noteworthy that they use only the finest ingredients, which costs them more but produces a very high quality and fantastic tasting product. They also have a great logo on their souvenir t-shirts available for purchase at a very reasonable price. I will definitey go back the next time that I am in Charleston. read more

The Bomb Island Berliner is the bomb. I've been searching for a "go to" beer and this is it. I felt like Goldilocks when trying different beers because one was too bitter and another was too hoppy, always something until I tried this one. It's perfect and refreshing. My wife liked the Big Sandy, while I preferred the BASH best of the eight we sampled. Two big TVs had the college football games on. Brewmaster answered questions; very knowledgeable.
