Paws In Time has been a part of our family since 2007. Our dogs adore going to play, and love spending weekends, holidays and vacations there. It's such an excellent establishment run by amazing and talented dog lovers. They even have the most adorable kitties welcoming every visitor in the front office! I don't know what we'd do without Julie and her team. They have walked us through some of the hardest times with our dogs - the loss of one, major surgery and near death of another one- and have always welcomed and loved on our new puppies from the earliest ages that are welcome through their doors. They have been lifesavers, and such fabulous support in training and wellness of all our dogs. When one of my puppies went missing from our yard AT HOME, Julie came over and used her behavioral expertise to give me tips and helped me search for her! My Dog was Killed at Paws in Time. My dog, Maxwell, was mauled to death at Paws in Time in West Chicago on Fabyan Parkway. Please, if you are considering a dog care facility, do not take your beloved pup to Paws in Time. While on vacation, my pup was brutally killed by an aggressive dog that was not properly evaluated for temperament and appropriateness to interact with other dogs at the facility. On the day of the incident the dog who attacked Maxwell was new to the facility (first day there) and only received a 20-minute evaluation when someone decided that it was OK to allow the dog in the general dog population. I was also told that the new dog was the dog of an employee who had recently rescued him. I can't help but wonder if an exception was made to the evaluation process. Unbelievably, the yard was then left unattended for a 2-minute period (the dogs should never be left unsupervised). During this 2-minute period, Maxwell was brutally mauled to death by the new dog and when the employee returned to the yard, Maxwell was laying there dead. These are details that were shared with my husband and I directly following the incident when we received the devastating phone call to inform us of the mauling and that Maxwell was 'gone'. Simply heart breaking. I have been devastated each and every day by the loss of Maxwell. He was my first and only dog. As Maxwell's pet parent, I struggle with not being there to comfort him in his final moments. The image of the last two minutes of his life are gut wrenching for me. The violent nature of Maxwell's death shakes me to my core every time I think about it. Maxwell should have never died that day - he should still be here. Irresponsible decisions were made that lead to Maxwell's death, and I would not want this to happen to any other pet or pet parent. I wanted to share my story in hopes that others who see this post will share it and perhaps other pet parents will think twice about using Paws in Time when there are so many dog care facilities in the area to explore. Well I love this place I've had multiple of my dogs go here threw out 15 years but honestly with my last dog commutation about how boarding was and I never was able to give detailed instructions of grooming I got a phone call saying he was done with his bath the lady who called had no idea it was for a hair cut his paws were burned when I picked him up. If you want your clients happy please communicate. I'm happy bc I can fix his paws I understand some groomers don't understand certain blades cut and burn pads overall Anakin loved his stay but I need more information to ever let him return. read more

I have been using this doggy daycare for 4 years now. I have a an 11 year old pug, who has been sickly since he was 3 months old. Recently he has had 2 months of complications due to being misdiagnosed. I took him to a new vet, and we got it all settled BUT there was a problem. My boy now has diabetes. On top of him being a senior sickly pug already and I was 5 days out from a work trip I could not cancel. I was STUCK! I called Lynn and she assured me they had the big open room for boarding. I booked his days and she assured me they had vet techs to give him the insulin he needed twice a day. Fast forward to the trip, i'm thousands of miles away. Kathy went out of her way to send me pics of him napping. He was eating, he was playing, he was sleeping through the night. He was his old self again. And the best part of all of this? ALL their staff is like Kathy and Lynn. Anything I have ever needed with my boy, they have come through for me. I don't honestly know what I would ever do without them. I'm moving to a burb 25 minutes away in the spring and I'll never change daycare locations-its worth the drive, and the peace of mind. read more

I felt so good about bringing Ruby to the PIT Pet Resort for daycare that I opted to board her here the last time I left town, she had a blast. She always comes home well exercised and is very relaxed for at least 1-2 days following her visits (pretty good for a high energy German Shepherd puppy). My devil dogs love this place. I've been taking my dogs here for about 6 years now. I used to drop my male off every friday when I worked in the area. Now even though we can't have them go as often as i'd like, I still drive 1/2 an hour to get them there. They always come home exhausted and are well behaved for 2 days afterwards. They always look great when they're groomed, (smell good too!). The owner tries to do a good job but the training was not worth the money! She consistently runs late and doesn't communicate effectively. She showed up at my home with her dogs in the trunk, late, and tried to rush through the session !!! She's very opinionated and on several occasions tried to tell (not suggest) to me and my family members NOT do something in our home...so unprofessional! She made a negative comment about my terminally ill family member that was the end for me! In addition to all of this she never communicated that the five sessions are actually four because the last session isn't actually a session. She chats and cuts the training sessions short so they're not a full 30 minutes...shame!!!! She did try to reconcile and give me a refund for the last session (at me request), but the hassle I had to go through was really unnecessary...shame! read more

I had the good fortune of engaging Paws in Time Oswego for my lab Pappy. Had wonderful experiences for both daycare and boarding. Having recently relocated closer to the West Chicago facility, my lab pup Riley is a weekly daycare client. I couldn't ask for more engaged and conscientious staff. I'm not even sure how to start with my disappointment... I took my dog there once a week for nine weeks. I thought (in the beginning) that everything was fine, but one day (three or four weeks in), my boyfriend was told that my dog was "in a time out" for barking in another dogs face. Brian responded that he was just around back and there were three dogs barking in each others face... that's what the dogs do! He then asked if he was being kicked out, and the response (from Kathy) was "not yet" in a laughing type manner... Seriously? You find this funny? I was then shown a video of my dog barking and following (they call it tracking or herding) another dog (a different German Shepherd, who had a ball in his/her mouth). My dog (from the sound of his bark- higher pitch, play with me bark), just wanted to play. My dog was observed by the owner/trainer yesterday and it was determined that their facility is not a fit for my dog... because he's a barker or because he's being a shepherd? Regardless, after yesterday with my dog being kenneled for five hours and the staff member (Kathy, thinking it was funny that my dog is not welcomed back) it is my opinion that they are not equipped to handle young dogs that want to play and chase other dogs... Mind you, my shepherd has been trained, but the staff there doesn't work with you on stopping unwanted behavior, they would rather tell you to find another place to put your dog. The staff (I thought) for the most part was great, until they are not... Kathy is truly not a people person, and should not be at the front counter greeting people. And after her comments and attitude about my dog, my opinion is that she shouldn't be around animals either. As far as Lynn (the manager), she was fine until I pointed out staff issues, and then stated that my dog is NEVER welcomed back (even if he has additional training). Fortunately, she will be issuing a refund for yesterday, but overall, I would not recommend this facility to anyone (I am one of the managers in a large area hotel and I am often asked where people can take their pets for a day or a week. I did refer other employees AND guests to this facility) but after the way we were treated, I will no longer be doing so... read more

Paws in Time is a wonderful place. They have outdoor and indoor facilities for the dogs. They can go in and out as they please in a large, safe, fenced area. The inside is air conditioned in the summer. My dog loves it there and the staff (inside and outside) are great with the dogs and are very courteous and professional. Besides daycare they offer boarding, shuttle service, pet sitting, veterinary services and grooming. We've boarded our Pepper dog with them and they give the dogs top notch care. They are open on Saturdays too. Even if we had a fenced yard Pepper would still go there for socialization and fun. read more

When I got sick and had to go out of town for several months for treatment they cared for our dog Ginger incredibly- they sent me weekly facebook photos and videos of her happily playing! these people LOVE dogs and the dogs can tell. G cant wait to get there each time we drop her off! the place really is a resort for dogs. They play with your dogs all day and the dogs play with each other all day. My dog LOVES going to doggy daycare here and staying overnight for boarding. Every time I drop him off he is pulling on the leash and clawing along the floor to get back into the play area as soon as possible! The staff seem to adore him and remember who is family is when we are there. Its also nice the facility is so large and indoor outdoor with lots for the dogs to do to stay engaged. The staff in the play area always play with the dogs and give them affection. I also like to drive around back and see my little dude playing after I drop him off or before I pick him up. We have brought two of our dogs there - our late labrador and current labradoodle. The staff has ALWAYS been very professional and friendly with us and knows us by name (even though we don't go as often as we used to since our current dog isn't a puppy anymore). I saw the other reviews that mention they are just after the money - I have NEVER once gotten that impression. Since we have a small child, they've often brought our dog directly out to the car without my asking even. There love for animals is evident. With such active dogs and us working, when our dogs were pups - we couldn't walk them the over 3 miles a day it would take to meet their energy needs. We have used several "doggie daycare" places. One other place nearby seemed to be for smaller dogs that weren't as active. I wrote a negative review of that facility, and happily brought our puppy to Paws In Time. She also is groomed there and comes home looking fantastic! Being able to have our labradoodle play for the day and get groomed at the end - so come home both tired and clean, is perfect. I also saw another person comment about the Bordatella vaccine cost - I'm VERY thankful that the staff works with our veterinarian's office to be sure that our dog (and other dogs there!) are up to date on their vaccines. I find that to be very responsible for the health of our dog and am very grateful that they offered the vaccine there as it saved me the trip to the vet. That obviously takes them extra time and attention - and I'm grateful they help me protect our dog. We wouldn't have survived puppy-hood without them! And she loves to go back and play still now. read more

Hello Everyone, I'm sad to report that last week when we took our sweet, very friendly and active 2 year old Golden Retriever, Cooper, after only the first day of playing on the "astro turf" his 4 paws were blistered and very sore. After the next day he was walking much slower and after the last day, the 3nd day, he was sitting out most of the day, just watching, because of the pain discomfort in his paws............... When I first saw this place I shed tears of joy and expected Cooper to have such fun, as others have said, but I would feel like a incompetent "mom" letting him return to Paws in Time. It may be wonderful for some dogs, but for my sweet Cooper it was a long 3 days of painful "play". I want him to be at a place, where his paws are unharmed. I won't take him back and I'm sure you all understand why now. I'm not really as angry as much as I am very sad. I had such high hopes for this place. I have taken my dog to this location for daycare and grooming since he was a puppy and typically had good experiences. Recently, I had to cancel a grooming appointment for him 2 hours before the start time due to a a sudden death in my family. The manager called me and left me a voicemail stating a number of times that it was very last minute and unfortunate because it would leave a huge gap in the groomers day. We have never cancelled an appointment before or even been late. Needless to say, we will no longer be using Paws In Time. read more

When you board your dog after reading good reviews about this place you believed he or she will be well taking care off. Imagine you are back to pick up your lovely pet and you see horrible rash over his neck and down to his chest. Yes dog get sick but how it is possible nobody notice? I wouldn't call it good care. I rather say total negligence. After I posted this review on Paws on time web page they responded :Paws In Time So, Maria, you aren't actually the dog's owner. We did in fact notice this on this wonderful boy, named Joy, yesterday and discussed it with the owners when they came to pick him up. Joy spent 99% of his time with us in the swimming pool playing on his own and with our staff. There was no indication of anything being wrong with him. Here's a photo of him from Saturday that we featured on our Facebook page because of his big smile. The vet indicates that this is likely a skin irritation that is easily treated with antibiotics, and was likely caused by a combination of Joy's thick coat, collar and being wet (as you can see in the photo) and has instructed the owner on what to do. Joy will be fine and there is no cause for alarm. Then they cut me off their web page so I will share my thoughts with everybody this way. And this is how he looked after three days under your care and emergency vet help. And yes I am not this dog owner. But I have dogs also and strange think is - you didn't respond to this dog owners e-mail they send you yesterday with questions and commends. So my questions are. How much time dogs are outside in 99 degree weather? You indicated 99% - I understand daytime because they have to sleep a little. Where you and your staff aware about heat advisory warnings? If you notice the problem why owners were not immediately notified? Why he was not been helped? There was a blood all over his neck at the time of pick up. Nobody even clean him up. Why front desk person had no idea what could happened to Joy. As you stated it is likely a skin irritation or infection that is easily treated. So if Joy was boarded for a week ...it would to developed meager skin infection because it is not serious enough for you? I agree young dogs will overcome most sicknesses or injures after proper treatment - which you didn't provide. Joy will be fine I hope but my dilemma is how seriously dog have to be sick or injured for you to treat is seriously? And the last statement you made :"no cause for alarm" - sorry is it pathetic attempt to save your good reputation or insult. Joy refuses to eat, walk or go outside. He is in fear amount of pain but also traumatize. It is heartbreaking to see him like this. I will not even start to describe what his owners are going through. Paws in time doesn't answer dog owners e-mail. Lie and change the facts. After fully admitted Joy needed medical treatment, they didn't even offered to cover emergency vet visit cost- (the invoice was provided to them) . Is this the way professional service act? I took my black lab mix here for 2+ years when I commuted from Chicago out to Batavia. He usually required about 45 minutes to an hour of walking a day when I didn't take him here and can legitimately say I barely had to walk him on the days he went here since he would come back home (hesitatingly as he didn't want to leave) exhausted. I only did take him here for the daycare but can definitely say the staff was very friendly and efficient (as well as being great at familiarizing the owners to the pet names). Having this place as an option to drop off my dog made work much easier for me knowing he was having a great time versus stuck at home wondering when I'd be back! read more

Horrible.....Don't go there! Office staff has no clue. Owner is rude and just money hungry. Took my 4 month old to what I was told was a puppy class. First day of class they took her from me as soon as I walked in, and didnt tell me what they were doing with her. I stood there for the next 15 minutes stressing about her while the owner read out loud line by line her handouts. We could have done that on our own. Then they walk us in back and I see my baby in this huge cage sitting in the corner shaking like crazy trying to protect herself from the 6 - 8 other dogs in there that seriously were 20 times her size. She is 4 lbs these so called puppys were 80 - 100 lbs. There was a worker standing around but was not paying attention to what was going on. I will never take any of my dogs there. Paws in Time is a dogs version of DisneyWorld !! We have been clients of Paws and Julie for over ten years now and could not imagine life without them. We have ultized almost every aspect of their expansive services daycare, boarding, shuttle, training, classes and grooming. Our sweet (super intense) dog Lili was a client since she was 5 months old until January when she unexpectantly passed away. When we decided to adopt again and found our love bug Sadie Mae in July the first placed we called was Paws. Sadie has been enjoying daycare and working with Julie on leash manners. I have been bringing my dog, Maggie, here for a couple months now and can't begin to fully express the difference Paws in Time has made in Maggie's life and mine. To fully understand how helpful Paws in Time has been will require a bit of background. Maggie is an American Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix which leads many people to make assumptions about her personality, and has caused people to make judgments based on her breed. Maggie is a dog that likes to play hard, but is genuinely a sweet dog that gets along well with other dogs. Because of Maggie's desire to play hard and likely because of her breed she was not allowed to play with the other dogs at the previous daycare I sent her to. When she would go, she would be kenneled and only allowed out of the kennel for solo play time. During solo play time, the workers would play with her which was nice, but Maggie developed some bad habits while there. She learned the only way to get attention was by barking at the other dogs in the kennels (the kennels were glass and faced into the play area so all of the dogs could see the play area), and this caused Maggie to be a bit difficult when walking her because she would start barking and being obnoxious when I tried to walk her. This caused quite a bit of embarrassment for me, and also frustration when people would make negative comments (ex. a man telling his son not to look at my dog because "She's a vicious dog." Despite the fact that the man was walking his puppy German Shepherd, which not that long ago faced the same stigma my dog currently faces) about my dog because she was barking. My stepmom was aware of the issues I was having, and ended up doing a search to see if maybe a new daycare environment might help things. She told me about Paws in Time, and suggested that I give it a try. After hemming and hawing for a few weeks, I scheduled Maggie to get her influenza shot (required by paws in Time, but wasn't required at the previous daycare), and set up a time for Maggie to go to Paws in Time for her evaluation. Suffice it to say, the evaluation went well, and Maggie was told she could come back. Since going to Paws in Time, Maggie is exhausted from her play time when I pick her up, and has become so much better on our walks. She still barks when she sees another dog when we walk, but they're more playful and friendly, and she was even able to have a successful meet and greet with two dogs over the Memorial Day weekend. This meet and greet was a huge success in my book because I frankly thought that we would never be able to have Maggie meet dogs on the leash because of how she reacted. Maggie gets excited when I pull up to Paws in Time, and from what I see in the Facebook videos posted by Paws in Time, she enjoys going in the pool and hanging out with all of her dog friends. The workers have been so kind to her, and when I can hear them talking to her it's always in a positive tone and they seem to genuinely enjoy her. Paws in Time also looks out for the dogs, Maggie has gotten a couple scratches (no big deal, dogs mouth each other, it's how they play), and the ladies at the front desk have always let me know. So I know they give the dogs a once over, and keep an eye on what's going on. They are also keenly aware of the difference between playing hard, and crossing the line into getting too rough. TL;DR: Paws in Time treats my dog very well, and my pup is always good and tired when I pick her up. The pictures I've seen of her show her having a blast, and all of the workers I've interacted with have been kind and positive. read more

As long as I have owned dogs as an adult, I have never boarded them. They always go with me. But sometimes in life, as it turns out, you just need a break from it all. And so I boarded them at Paws in Time where they have been going to daycare for years. It was especially difficult to leave because one of mine had a rough couple days with a broken tooth before I left...so he needed meds and extra attention. The staff went out of the way to make sure he got what he needed (including a nap when needed). I was able to put their beds in their suite which made ME feel better getting them set up just so. And not one time when I was away, did I worry. Thanks to all the staff at Paws in Time for giving me an honest to goodness break from it all and my "babies" a safe and loving environment to stay. Wow! I have come back with my third dog for training with Julie and cannot imagine going to any other trainer. I was in that class that C B. rated as 'horrible' and I am going to be nice and assume she is new to dog ownership. Julie always goes over her views and beliefs regarding dog training and behavior, her rules and expectations so there are no questions and we are all on the same page. The other dogs were not 80-100 lbs...that's just ridiculous. My 40 pound dog plays with my three tiny dogs at home and would have been pretty gentle with your little one. Maybe you should not have waited til your dog was 4 months old before you tried to socialize it. ALL play at Paws In Time is monitored, and none of the dogs is allowed to bully or play in an inappropriate manner. Perhaps before you judge a dog trainer, you should allow the trainer to actually train...kinda surprised you would go out online and bash someone you didn't even allow to do what you paid her for! The sad thing is that it is your dog who pays the price, not you. you just reinforced complete fear in your dog. I'm glad you left the class...my dog doesn't like to play with unbalanced dogs. And...we don't train in the office (since you were offended by the smell of...animals.) Off to train my dog!! I contacted Julie for training to help with my dog Daisy. She was a barker and always reactive on walks, around other people and dogs, and pretty much with any noise. I needed help before my family came to stay with me because previously during these visits, Daisy would literally bark nonstop for days until my guests left. I didn't want to go through this again because my 2 year old niece and 4 month old nephew were going to be staying with me as well. I wanted my family to enjoy their stay and I wanted Daisy to enjoy it too! From the very first session Julie was phenomenal! She picked up on Daisy's issues and we immediately started working on it! She gave me tips to work on between each session and in all different scenarios so that Daisy wouldn't have any surprises when they came. It all really paid off and my family had a GREAT visit! Extremely difficult to book an appointment with a new pet. We understand it's the holiday weekend for July 4th and just wanted some additional information. Originally told they didn't have availability for us to come in for a potential new client until Monday yet there is only one reservation left during our dates and would not hold it for us until then. Then they have tomorrow available but because our dogs cannot verify to have the flu shot by tomorrow that doesn't work either. We are 100% pet people and our dogs actively have gone to say camps their whole lives. I told her my pet had come back with a large cut on them after using another facility and wanted to ensure he was somewhere safe. Her response was that is common because dogs play with their month. I shared that only so she would have empathy for the fact I want my pet somewhere safe not to give the impression it could happen again. Based on the initial interaction I would not attempt to use them in the future either. The dog's health are absolutely top priority but important to have some empathy around trying to find a comfortable and safe place for a pet. read more

I wasn't impressed with this place at all. They say you get a free day your first day, but charge you $20 for a Bordetella vaccine. My dog is 7 lbs. and was all by himself in the back with about 40 or 50 other BIG dogs. They say they give your dog time to acclimate. NO THEY DONT!!!! Like the other reviewer said, all they want is your money. Could care less about your dog. I WAS SO PISSED WHEN I SAW MY LITTLE GUY SHAKING IN THE CORNER ALL BY HIMSELF. What can I say? Paws in Time is absolutely the best dog boarding, playground, grooming and training facility I've ever come across. My 7 year old Golden Riley has been coming here since he was 6 months old and our 3 year old golden Murphy also now plays at Paws. I have had the pleasure of boarding my dogs there, utilizing Julie's training classes, grooming, shuttle service (yes you can arrange to have your dogs picked up and dropped off!) and of course the daily playground for playtime. I can not tell you what a pleasure it is to drop my dogs off and know that they will run, play, socialize and completely enjoy their day at Paws and not be stuck home sleeping all day. One of my favorite things to do after I drop them off is drive around and watch Riley and Murphy go greet all their playmates as they start their day. It does my heart good to see how happy they are. The staff is also amazing, Julie, Lynn, Cathy, Carol and everyone there are all so nice! They know all our dogs by name!. Don't hesitate to bring your dogs to Paws In Time! I have always thought very highly of Paws in time for boarding, and daycare, and even grooming our Old English Sheepdog; until this last few times he was in. After his previous groomings, we discovered on several occasions that his paws had been shaved underneath between the pads, right down to the skin. OES have huge feet and deep pads, It is understandable if they are matted or have clumps of burs or dirt, but otherwise, my vet said they should never be shaved in between the pads. The last time it happened, it was right before we were out of town over the 4th of July Holiday, so I didn't call to complain even though I was very unhappy about it, because we found out that his feet were so raw and sore, he could not even walk on the grass! He was miserable, and stayed off his feet for a week. So I made sure I brought it up when I made this next grooming appt. When I called and told them this I was told that I should have called "right away" but that they "don't usually shave this area", and "that has never happened before"! So, I told them that actually, it had happened before to him several times, but that I just never complained about it. I went on to say that I am not calling to complain now, but just making them aware so that it does not happen AGAIN. I was very specific in asking that they DO NOT shave this area from now on; because it is painful for him and between the pads the razor shave down to the skin is too much for him, and leaves his feet raw for days. They have actually nicked his sensitive feet when they do this area, and I have pictures to prove it. He also has sensitive skin and ears, so he can't have perfumes of any kind used on him, EVER and they knew this. When I brought him in to be groomed today, before I handed him over, I stopped the woman and I reiterated my request, making sure they understood what I was asking them NOT to do. I did say "do not shave his feet between the pads." I also made her aware of his ears because he had medicated plugs in both ears, and that he was not to get his head or ears wet. When I went to pick him up, I was surprised to find that He reeked like cheap perfume and I noticed that he was itching all over the place already, but there was another person behind me, so I took him out to the car and left. Once I had a chance to look him over, I noticed that they had completely ignored my request not to shave his feet; the groomer completely shaved between his pads right down to the bare skin!!!! AGAIN!!!! Not only did they do what I asked them NOT TO DO, but they shaved his entire face down to the skin as well, and cut his eyelashes! Also, they went in to his infected ears and pulled the hair out which dislodged the medicated plugs he had in there. Now I have to go back to the vet and have the medication done all over again at my expense. I didn't even ask for a hair cut this short as it is October and he needs some warmth. I was not even given a choice as to how short I wanted it. His hair is so short, that he will be freezing when he goes outside for 3 months now. It seems they didn't care what I wanted, they were going to do whatever the heck they wanted to him. After I looked him over, I immediately called them to tell them I was very unhappy about this and why. At first they denied it, then said they didn't shave the pads at all, then they said I didn't tell them the pads, I said the toes! I never said anything about the toes! I specifically said DO NOT SHAVE THE PADS!!! So, I corrected her as she went on and on denying what I was saying. I felt like I had to defend my request and even the fact that it was denied!!! When I brought up the chemical perfume smell, I was told that they don't use spray perfume on them, but that it must have been the shampoo they used. She said that "If I didn't want him to smell like that, then I needed to bring in my own shampoo!" For God's sake people, you are doing a "service" for your clients. I pay good money to have my dog come to you, so that he can get the care he needs.The first rule In customer service is that If someone requests something specific, and it gets ignored even by mistake, the least that business could do is to apologize, and take responsibility for their mistake, and try to make good for them somehow. But instead, my repeated request as well as my complaint was completely dismissed, belittled and ignored! I am so disappointed and upset because he is traumatized and so am I! I wrote this because it was my ONLY recourse. I hope people read it. I have no choice but to find a new groomer, one that has compassion for the animals they work on as well as their owners. read more
