Terrible service. Made an appointment. Waited eight weeks for it and Kelly the groomer claimed she never put it in the book. Couldn't remember doing anything. Claimed she was worried about losing her job. Maybe if she knew what she was doing she wouldn't have to worry about getting or keeping a job. They have never groomed our dogs the way we asked. They claim our dogs are 'matted' despite being brushed daily and having bright, beautiful fur. Each time our dogs come back shaved, no matter how explicitly we tell them not to shave them. There is such demand for groomers these days that they probably will not care that they lost our business, which is too bad. This last time they nicked the ears of our puppy and we had to make a trip to the vet to get it looked at because he was experiencing such discomfort. After that, will not be going back. read more

I have been looking for a new grooming place for my 1 year old Samoyed. Paws in Elmhurst was recommended by a friend so I thought I would try it out. Yesterday, my Samoyed got groomed and I could not be happier! My dog had not been groomed for two and a half months because he had injured his paw so I hadn't taken him anywhere he may pick up an infection. He had turned a light cream color when he usually is a bright white, it was time for a bath! The location is just 15 min away from me which I love! The owner (I'm assuming) was at the front desk and was super friendly! Check in was easy, and I loved that they do not crate their furry clients after their grooming. When I picked up Simba he came out just as happily as he came in. What I really loved about this groomer is that it looks like they combed out Simba (my Saoyed) after his bath. At his old groomer I felt like they dried him a little and then let him air dry the rest of the way without combing him so all of his fur was coming off in the car and house. That did not happen after his grooming at PAWS. I love them and will definitely be visiting for Simba's monthly grooming. The price for his grooming was very reasonable! read more

You set the spray to actually infuse the shampoo, rinse, and then the conditioner. And reduce the pressure without changing the temperature for washing her face. When I first walked in at this place in a suit the woman instantly said if I'm trying to sell her something she doesn't want it. I thought that was kind of a bullshit way to greet somebody. Anyway I let it roll and scheduled my cat. Then to my surprise when it came time for the appointment I want to drop them off maybe an hour and a half early because I have a busy day. Get this... She refused to let me drop him off! And by the way... This is the second time I rescheduled with her. This woman does not know how to do business. For customer service is complete garbage and until she rectifies her attitude I don't anticipate anything coming of this place. Don't take your pet here. They're so much other more compassionate and caring people in this industry and in the area that you should waste your time. This attitude should not be rewarded. 5 stars for sure. Took my raggedy pomsky and I can't praise these girls enough. No they don't have receptionist to answers phones but they do return calls same afternoon. They did such a great job with my girl. Can't believe she wasn't cut just washed and brushed. The last place was awful and the way they cleaned her up is amazing. My Keeshond is 13 years old and mostly blind. I took her in for grooming (she had been here 2 times before). Explained in detail to the person who would be grooming her (in the presence of the owner), how I wanted her groomed, as this was the first time she was working with my dog. I even showed her, right on the dog, what I wanted. When I came back, my dog didn't even look like her breed- her mane had been cut off, most of her facial hair had been removed, as well as most of her long coat everywhere else. They even trimmed her ears! They charged me for the service before I even realized this, and then refused to refund. Said "Getting your money back will not help the dog", "it will grow back", "mistakes happen". I asked what made them shave her like that, and they replied "we didn't shave her, we just cut most of her hair off". What's the difference?? It had to be done with clippers. When I first came in to pick up the dog, the owner was the one processing the payment, but she quickly removed herself to the other room, allowing her staff (3-4 of them) to stand there and aggressively dismiss my complaints and questions. I felt very intimidated and assaulted by this, as I have never had this type of experience before- since when do you allow your staff to gang up on a customer? My dog has not been the same since (1 week now). She has been depressed and withdrawn, she is having a hard time getting around, as she had used her mane as a guide to when she was close to running into things. My research tells me with this breed it could take 1-2 years for the hair to grow back, and it does not grow back the same. She is also now more susceptible to sunburn and over heating. I have read some other reviews and it seems like treating customers like this, and making "mistakes" with the pets, is not an isolated incident. read more

I have been here several times with a couple different dogs. I was never impressed by the quality of the work, the price, nor the customer service. My wife and mother-in-law have came home upset several times with the quality of the dog's haircut and the rude treatment. The staff doesn't communicate with each other. They need more training on how to be more polite and professional with their customers. Getting a good doggy haircut depends on who's working that day, and what mood they're in. Horrible! My dog had multiple blade cuts that bled for days & was disoriented when I picked him up.

They cut my dog scrotum sac since they cut him so short. I had to go to the vet and spent $100 on meds. When I sent in the vet receipt and bill, they would not reimburse me for the haircut. It's really sad as I thought they would do the right thing. I do not recommend going here. read more

We have been bringing our 2 yr old pup there for a 'field cut' by Heather. Our fur baby is a mix of giant schnauzer, lab, & shepherd. A lot of shedding so we get the 'field' cut a couple times a year to help with shedding. We have been very happy there, nothing negative to say. DO NOT TRUST YOUR DOG WITH THIS PLACE!!! We brought our Golden Retriever in for the usual grooming. We received a call from the manager(owner?) Tom, that our dog was ready but that they accidentally cut him too short. When my fiance picked him up, she was shocked to find that they had completely SHAVED our golden retriever! My fiance came home crying and tried to explain what happened. I was obviously upset, so I took a drive over. I asked Tom what happened and he said that they "mixed up the files". When I asked if the groomer checked that the dog and file matched, he said no. UNACCEPTABLE! I asked if it was normal to shave a golden retriever like a poodle and he responded by correcting me saying that it's "actually a lion cut". When I asked what they were going to do about it, he said "what do you have in mind? I'm open to suggestions". Really!? That's your response!? And for the icing on the cake, one of his final responses was "the nice thing is that in 8 weeks or so, the hair will grow back". Unreal. You think you can trust your dog with a groomer and something like this compete incompetence happens. Please do not support this place. read more

If you don't mind being insulted and accused of being CRAZY, I guess it is a place to take your dog for a grooming BUT just pray you catch the owner on a good day! I took my daughter's dog and tried to make this lady understand what other groomers have been understanding for 50 years. Puppy cut short with no extremes. Ears cut short and BLENDED in with top of the head rather than a drop down and disconnect from the head to the ears, just blended in. Well she just couldn't understand that and began to ridicule me. It was really bad. Picked up the dog and she looked pitiful. They trimmed her face all the way down and left ALL of the hair on her neck and body. The next day my daughter called to say how comical she looked and the owner went on another very long rant telling her there was something wrong with me. Anyway, took the dog to a new groomer, told her the same thing. No problem, she understood perfectly and the dog came out looking perfect. Wouldn't go back if it was free. read more

I have a Shih Tzu that is very scared and nervous around strangers and other dogs. She hates the razor and blow dryer so cutting her is always an ordeal and requires two of us to do so I was looking for a place that would cut her nicer than we do. :) Paws Pet Grooming was recommended on a facebook elmhurst emoms group so I took her here. This place was nice and clean, everyone was friendly. I was happy that I wouldn't have to leave her there for half the day, that I could drop her off and she would be taken care of right then and I could pick her up when they were done. My dog came in shaking and I had to push thru her the door but when I came to pick her up she was happy and around some other dogs and doing great! There is a window with a little step behind the closed off desk area where some of the small dogs hang out and my daughter and I were waiting outside when we saw her come up in the window wagging her tail so we went in to get her. I was amazed she was doing better than I expected! The groomer was very friendly, she said she had to go slow on some areas to gain her trust but I expected that. I was very happy with the cut and she smelled really nice too! Definitely a place I will be coming back to! read more

I wish I could give 0 stars considering they wouldn't even allow my dog to be serviced. I'm not sure what year we are in or why bullying breeds is still allowed. If it's a matter of "insurance" than I should hope for your businesses sake that you look into updating your policies because there are plenty of other groomers who accept all beautiful breeds and those are the companies that will flourish. VERY attentive staff, great to the dogs & cats, VERY clean! Katie our groomer was wonderful! She is a professional and listened, answered all my questions, and gave suggestions on grooming my toy poodle. Sara the front desk person was nice and honest. Pat the owner reassured me that my dog was in good hands AND SHE WAS CORRECT! Great service, reasonable prices, AND THEY CARE ABOUT YOUR PET! I originally went here because I won a certificate. The first experience I had went well (the do push tip tho). The second time i took him I got a call a half hour after dropping off saying he almost bit one of the groomers and they could not handle him. When I got there I was so mad at my dog. they tried to have my hold him to finish his claws but he growled so I just let. When i got home I found out the clipped his claw really short and he was bleeding. They did not tell me they hurt him. My dog is scared of a fly. When you get in his face he will just lick you. Has never bit anyone. They made me so upset I let crying because I thought it was my dogs fault. These people are snobby. They do not have good attitudes. I also didn't like that my dog was locked in a crate after he was done. The place I take him now is cheeper, friendly, and they let him run and play with the other dogs (and no they do not have a bigger space) Everyone who asks me about paws I tell them to run! read more

I've seen way too many bad reviews for this business. We have been taking our dog here for a few years and have had nothing but great service. The groomers are friendly and kind to all of the dogs I've seen there. Recently, our dog had an injury on his back legs and was badly in need of a haircut. I talked with Patty(the owner) about the problem and she assured me that they would take extra care while cutting my dog. Yes, it may be difficult at times to get an appointment, but it's worth it. Do not go here! I originally went because i won a gift certificate and the first time they said my boxer was awesome. The second time they made me pick him up early. They told me he was aggressive and that he tried to bite the lady. They only did three out of four paws and never cleaned his ears and charged me full price. First i was mad at my dog and then got home to find that they burned him on his left paw. I was so pissed will never return there. The owner is not very nice either calling my dog aggressive! Horrible service!! Made an appointment and the told me Thursday was the soonest they had an open spot (today). Went there today only for the employee/manager whatever she was (lady with short blonde hair) to give me an attitude saying if she scheduled you today she would have wrote it down. Then I tried showing her when I called to make an appointment and again very rude, she said well that doesn't matter. Only to find out they put me down for the following Thursday. I was very frustrated because I called of work to make sure my puppy got groomed nicely only to go there and have her be rude to me like it was my fault her employee didn't give me the correct date. This shop grooms nicely but is very busy and overbooked. They take walk-ins ahead of booked appointments and are argumentative and unapologetic about making scheduled clients wait an additional hour or more. They seem to be doing very well, just wish the social and appointment aspect was more professional and understanding to the busy lives of many pet owners.
