I typically don't write reviews, but I will go out of my way when a business does a great job. I've been taking my dogs to Paws for the past 10 years. The entire team is very polite, responsible and always does a wonderful job in watching, feeding and walking my dog. The main reason I'm writing this review is the training. I recently adopted my dog, who I was told is 1 1/2 year old. He had some issues as it relates to getting aggressive when on leash. Seth who leads the training and Morrigan have done an amazing job in teaching my dog Zeus. They have changed all of his behavioral issues after the 8 week session. First time using Paws, they were very accommodating on a somewhat last minute basis - having the ability to see what's going on with the nanny cams is awesome. Although, we really couldn't get to know the staff, the people we did come into brief contact were very nice and professional and I even think our Kona girl, missed some of the buddies she met at the resort!!! We took our dog grumpy old man dog Buddy to Paws for the first time today for grooming. While we were there, we checked out the boarding facility, talked with the staff and learned more about Paws. I was so impressed by the cool and calm vibe of the people and pets and the knowledge of the staff about each dog that was there. All that and Buddy came out of the grooming room looking awesome!!! I love Paws Pet Resort and so do my dogs! Everyone who works there is so kind and always treat all their dogs like family. We all feel welcome each and every time we are either dropping off or picking up our babies. I have been taking my dogs to Paws for 13 years now and do not have one complaint in all those years. Our 1st experience (Jan14') w/Paws was good or so we thought. Our little senior came home with a beautiful groom however he was very quiet. It was slightly concerning as he is a peppy pup but we thought he had a lot of excitement w/group activity. Our 2nd experience will be our last... When I came in to pick him up I asked if everything went okay. Did he behave well? Any issues? Nope he was great. As I was putting my dog in his car seat I noticed he looked very out of it his pupils looked different. I told my husband he looked extremely medicated and thirsty. When we arrived home he threw up three times. He was also wiping his bottom on the carpet. Low and behold his bottom was crusted with fecal matter. Days later our dog is still VERY OFF. Love this place! I have a dog who was a difficult puppy - difficult as in she needed a LOT of exercise (4+ hours a day until she was over a year and a half old). Paws was a way for me to not only get some peace, but also for her to be socialized. Dogs here are separated into one of two play groups, usually based on size but sometimes on play-style as well. The owner has two locations, this one and a Lake Forest location. She is often around, and is super friendly. The staff ALL know my dog by name, and she drags me into the door, so I know she has a good time here. I am positive that taking her here when she was young was what helped develop her into an amazingly well socialized dog. They also know my car by sight and are usually already going to get her by the time I walk in the door. When watching on the cameras I often see staff holding dogs that just want human attention and petting every dog that comes up to them. Everyone there TRULY loves animals. Tips: 1.) For your first visit, you need to make an appointment so that they can be sure your dog can be integrated into playgroup. I am not sure what happens if the answer is no, but I'm sure if you call them they can tell you! 2.)If you plan to do daycare often, buy a package. It can save you a lot of money. 3.) The hours are great - you can drop your pup off at 6:30am and pick them up at 6pm. 4.) Though I have never had them turn me away, best to make an appointment for overnight boarding during busy times (holiday weekends, summertime) 5.) If anyone other than you is going to pick your dog up, you must authorize them. They won't let your "kid" go with a stranger! After your first appointment, you can come and drop your dog off for daycare anytime, no appointment necessary. Awesome. I only have two complaints (minor, of course): You can watch your pup play on the webcam, but the cameras don't always work! I know it is not my computer, either. Also, I wish they would offer packages for boarding! Even if it was just a dollar or two off:) Be aware they don't take American Express. Other than that, perfection. read more

I brought my dog Sammie her on the recommendation of a friend. She is a rescue and had/still has some issues with anxiety and fear of dogs and people. I was very concerned the first time we brought her here because I wasn't sure how she would react. They took great care of her! During the time where they had her interacting with other dogs, they kept her with the small dogs since she was more afraid of the bigger dogs. By the end of our trip she was getting very comfortable over there. When we got her back she was such a better dog in many ways. This is our 3rd trip that I am having her stay at Paws and I am very happy to be able to be comfortable leaving her here. It allows me to actually enjoy my vacation and not worry about the care she is receiving in our absence. They allow you to bring all of your pets supplies/toys/crate/bed that you want and feed them their regular food if you bring it and provide them instructions or pre bag the meals. The staff is very friendly and can answer any questions or concerns you will have. The cost is $45 per night and they provide some discounts for longer stays. read more

My little girl Lucky is a rescue and so so shy. I've been bringing her to paws since we got her a year ago but took a break for a few months. Me and my husband recently started dropping her off again and I l mentioned to paws how shy she was and if there's anything they can do to make her feel more welcome. They were so sweet to her and she is a different dog. Now when she gets dropped off her tail is up & she's so happy to be there. I love that I can watch her on cameras, and if I need anything I send an email/ or call and they are always there. I am so happy we found such an amazing day care. My pup Lucky had her first day of day care today. She is a very shy puppy and wasn't doing so well. I noticed one of the workers kind of ignored her when she was wanting attention which bothered me. I called and explain how shy she is and that I was upset & they were super sweet & next time I checked the camera they were giving her attention and even holding her. I appreciate the fact that they listened to me and understand that my puppy is shy. She had parvo (she is not sick anymore) when we first got her so she hasn't been around anyone but me and my husband so being away all day from her was hard on both of us. I just want to thank you guys for catering to her and me as well. You guys are sweet & she will be going back!! I mainly deal with the San Clemente location (but I have gone to Lake Forest as well) and all I can say is that this place is awesome and they take amazing care of my puppy. The staff is so friendly, they remember your name and your dogs and they just provide the best environment to feel comfortable leaving your "child" with. I can't say enough nice things about the people, the facilities, the ease and the attention to your/ my pet, which is the most important. I have never posted anything on here. But since the same thing has happened twice, I thought it should be put out there. I have two dogs that stayed at PAWS about 2 years ago. It is a nice facility with a very friendly staff. Shortly after picking them up I noticed they both started coughing. It was the first time I ever had to deal with dogs and kennel cough. I notified the owner and she was super nice and apologetic. After that we decided to use home sitting. Just recently we decided to give them a try again. I couldn't believe it, a day after picking them up one of my dogs started coughing. It got pretty bad and she still continues with a cough and heavy breathing. She is only 3 years old. I know there is always a chance of them getting a flu/cold/kennel cough, but it's ironic it has happened 2/2 times. read more

My dog loves Paws, that's pretty much it! The "kids" that work at the front desk are always so sweet and remember my dog's name (Enzo). Enzo runs towards them and totally forgets about me as soon as we walk in the door. I can never get the webcam to work on my Macbook, but I always get a report from the staff that Enzo had a great time. Since Enzo is 5yrs old, he tends to have "grumpy old man" moments in which he doesn't want to play with the bouncy puppies, so the staff puts him in a different room with less dogs (and probably more of the 5yr old grump pups!). I like this attention to detail from the staff. I never worry when I drop Enzo off here! He's spent a few holidays with them :) read more

I called at 6:30am and the person over the phone was very friendly and said I could bring in my dogs same day. The forms were online so convenient to acquire and fill out. I did not have to do anything when I came in besides provide the 5 pages and who my vet was since they needed vet records. I was able to keep an eye on my pets all day with their cameras online so I felt some relief knowing they were being watched by staff and even given attention. We've taken our precious dog here several times and have never had any complaints! The staff is always really friendly and seems to understand how hard it can be for an owner to say goodbye to her dog for a few days - it's like sending your child off to summer camp! I may or may not cry whenever I have to drop her off here ;) What really sold me on this place was that each dog gets her own private room for overnight boarding, they get woken up in the mornings with music being played on the speakers in their rooms, and they advertise that the dogs get to enjoy dinner and a movie with some of the hottest 4 legged stars on the big screen - I thought that was super cute! It makes me feel like when I absolutely HAVE to leave my dog somewhere other than my home for an overnight stay, at least she is getting pampered-probably more than I am while I'm gone! :) Sometimes when I pick her up from Paws my dog seems a little lethargic, but I figure that maybe she's just tired from making new friends and being nervous that Mommy isn't coming back to get her :) read more

I had my dog there for 1 night and she came home sick. $300 after vet visit 3 days later I found out that she had kennel cough. I told the vet office when and where she had been and they were surprised that they did not inform me that kennel cough had been at their facility. A couple of days before my dog went to the kennel they had 2 different dogs at their vet clinic being treated for kennel cough that had been at the same kennel. My dogs kennel cough moved to her lungs and she is now being treated for kennel cough and a lung infection. She is on 2 antibiotics along with 2 types of medicine for her cough. The vet bill is now over $1000. I called Pets Paw Resort to let them know and they told me that there is nothing they can do and that this is the risk of putting my dog in a kennel. I am aware of that, but for my dog to have been at the kennel for only 1 night and becoming so sick makes me question just how clean this facility is and if they really disinfect it regularly. read more

I've been taking our dogs to Paws Resort for about 7 years. This past week Paws Resort went over and above to care for my elderly Lab Roxie. I got a call from the owner, Chris that Roxie wasn't doing well and would I give Chris permission to transport her to San Clemente veterinary Hospital. With my permission Chris proceeded to transport our beloved Roxie to the hospital where she passed a day later. Chris was always available to me and very caring to Roxie. Chris even took a pic of Roxie as she was being transported. Even though I wasn't there I know Roxie was cared for and loved by the team at Paws Resort in SC. The whole team sent us a sympathy card personally signed by the crew with heartfelt comments. I am forever indebted to the staff at Paws Resort. read more

We tried PAWS for the first time a couple weeks ago. We didn't know how our dog would do over the weekend, so we took him in for a trial day. The trial was free! And, we loved it. I can't read our dog's mind, but I'm pretty sure he liked it too. We put him in the little dog room, knowing he's often intimidated by big dogs. It's great they have the option. The best part was that they have cams up in the rooms so you can spy on your dog all day. Let's just say I got no work done at my job on his trial day and I told my fiance that I want to leave the dog there every now and then just so I can watch him on the cam. Ha. Another cool thing: They give you a little report card on how your dog behaved. They totally understand that pets can be like children. The overnight weekend stay was great. Our dog is pretty shy and nervous, but he did great. It was so cool to see him hanging out with the other dogs on the cam. There was ALWAYS someone in the room with the dogs--petting them, cleaning up, etc. At night, each dog gets a "suite" with a bed and TV. Hilarious. I joked with a friend that I wouldn't mind spending a weekend at PAWS. With the 10% first-timer discount, it cost us only $80 to leave him Friday and Saturday and pick him up at 4 on Sunday. That's an awesome deal. I've paid almost that much to have my pets stuffed in a cage at a kennel before. Sad. Our doggie came home EXHAUSTED--in a good way. I adopted a surrender puppy in February and am going back to work in July, so I'm on a fast track to getting my boy trained. Which, of course, includes socialization. Paws has been a fabulous resource for me! Cowboy just loves it there and pulls on his leash to get inside. I take him there 3 or 4 times a week for a few hours and feel so comfortable leaving him there. My only complaint is their hours will not coincide with my work hours when I go back to work in Irvine in July. I will not be able to get home from Irvine in time. Sadness! Luckily, I have found a great place in Tustin that is more in sync with my work hours. That said, I love the doggy cams so I can watch Cowboy any time I want to see what is going on. They have an interesting playroom with slides and a very popular bridge. They know him by name and are so sweet when I bring him in. Great staff. Please be open later! read more

We bring our yellow lab here and he just loves it. When we turn that last corner he instantly knows where we're heading and gets excited. His reaction alone is enough of a recommendation for me but I'll elaborate a bit. They have 3 rooms for dogs, much like a standard dog park, one room for big dogs, one for smaller dogs, and a pool room. From the hours of 9am to 4pm the dogs are all together in one of those rooms. They always have at least one staff member in the room at all times and also have cameras filming the spaces. We spend a lot of time watching the footage while on vacation. It's very entertaining to see how your puppy acts when you're not around. Before the dogs are let into the rooms they go through an extensive evaluation process and will gradually be introduced to the pack. They do not accept pit bulls or German Shepards - no offense to any pet owners out there, but I'm ok with that. At 4pm the dogs that are boarding are moved into their own separate rooms and fed dinner. You can bring your own bedding and food but we just use their resources. Also the bed that they use is one that we have in our own home and our pup just loves it! I highly recommend this place, and here's a tip- if you own a yellow lab or golden retriever you might want to put them in a bright collar in order to pick them out on the camera feed! read more

This was our first time boarding our 11 month old husky puppy, newly adopted (we've just had him 7 weeks). He does fine with other dogs at our local dog beach, though still training him to have manners - to come, stay, etc. He spazzes sometimes on our walks (which are many) or when he doesn't get enough exercise (which is rare). And he e tends to be a bit clingy to us with some separation anxiety, typically crying like it's the end of the world when we leave. With high hopes (and maybe fingers crossed just a little) we booked him atPaws Pet Resort in San Clemente. We were greeted by warm, friendly staff who led our pup away with calm confidence, assuring us that he would be well cared for. And our pup followed him like he was a Pied Piper, not looking back once! No crying, nothing! We giggled at that and then went about our human vacation. We were stoked that he would have play time with other pups but then his own ROOM to sleep in, with his own bed and toys and food... and TV, too? Makes his resort more like home. Admittedly, we were already having our own separation anxiety by the time we reached OUR resort in Oceanside. We were quick to get WIFI codes and boot up our laptops so that we could spy on our precious on the Paws live web cams! And... we probably checked the cams more than our emails! What we saw all week was our boy, playing with the "pack" and having the best time EVER! Sometimes he'd be pouncing around with other pups, sometimes just chillin and takin' in the scene. A couple of times we had to walk away from the laptop... "c'mon, Babe - let's go on our own VaCa!" We had a tendency to get glued to the Paws cam cuz we could see he was having fun! By the way, any time a dog had to piddle (or whatever) the staff immediately responded with a cleanup. But that's not all... these people LOVE the dogs! They would pat their heads as they walked by or sit on the floor with them giving love. And when staff walked into the room the dogs really wanted to be near them, picking up on their great energy is what I'm thinking. The staff made sure to spread love to all these pups! It was so cool to see this! Anyway, we opted for a bath on Houdini's last day (2 days ago), and when we picked him up he was fresh, clean and fluffy! So funny all the way home to Big Bear he slept... he had played so hard that he was tuckered out! He slept more than usual today, too, and I have to say that on our afternoon walk he was SO calm/submissive, so well behaved and sweet! Much to be said for hanging out with your own "pack" while on vacation! Long story short, I give Paws Pet Resorts a double thumbs up! Our dog Simba is a pampered pooch! He loves going to Paws in San Clemente for day play and boarding. He always comes back with his tail wagging and we know they take good care of him. Unfortunately, we are moving away, Simba will miss all his friends. We tried a few other places in the area, but they either had poor customer service or Simba came homesick. I have left my two dogs here many times when we've gone out of town. My dogs don't play well w others and they are a hand full in general so it's nice that I can still board them there, and they have one on one play time. I've never had any issues. Check in and out is always super easy and quick. I really like having them get a bath before check out cuz then they smell amazing and I don't have to do the work of washing them. This place really took good care of my special needs dogs. I never leave my dogs because they have so many health issues. I had to leave them for two weeks to take care of family issues and I was very nervous. Millie my cocker spaniel is on daily insulin and Buddie my poodle is almost 15 and blind. The staff went out of their way to make sure all the meds were given as instructed. Not an easy task. They also put up with my daily phone calls to check on my babies. I have tried to love this place. I was referred by a friend. I was so happy to have a place to drop my crazy Jacks off to play and run some energy out. The staff is amazingly nice. Here's the bad... The place freaking reeks of urine. I mean reeks... I thought maybe the smell was from a day of dogs (I didn't drop them off on the first visit, only picked them up) and maybe they cleaned at night. Oh no. I tried them again and it was just as bad. The smell is so overbearing and I have asked a couple of friends and they agreed... totally stinks. And now for the deal breaker... My healthy dog came home with kennel cough. Took her to the vet and they confirmed it; 2 weeks of meds. We called Paws and they apologized... Again, so freaking nice I actually felt bad. They sent a free coupon in the mail a few days later... which I won't be using. Hubs calls it "Pees" instead of "Paws"... lol... Sorry Paws. I so wanted to love you!!! I am honestly surprised there aren't more reviews on Yelp about this place, because they are truly doing an amazing job!!! We are bringing our two dogs Sunny and Clyde here when we are out of town, and every time we couldn't be more grateful for the great care they get at Paws! The staff is super friendly and professional and are always there to accommodate all requests. They genuinely love dogs and this explains the great results. The facility has cameras accessible on the internet so that you can watch the doggies on camera while you are vacationing or gone for business. They constantly clean after the dogs in the dog play area and the place is always clean and top notch as far as maintenance, cleanliness, and FUN!!
