As someone mentioned before, the service is hit or miss. The first time we took our dog here to get groomed, the staff was friendly and he seemed to have a great time. The second time it was quite busy so it felt a little rushed. After a few days we noticed our dog kept scratching his ears then when he was laying on back we realized he still had cotton balls inside his ears that were never removed by groomer. We called to let the manager know and they didn't seem to care. We understand that mistakes can happen but he could've gotten an ear infection had we not noticed in time. Would recommend if you come here you to check your dog's ears when picking them up to ensure all items are removed. read more

I dropped my dog off for an appointment at 11am for a basic bath. I usually go to a different groomer in San Clemente but they were booked out so I decided to try this place. My usual go to spot takes almost less than an hour to give him a bath AND hair cut, I waited until after 1 and gave them a call, and they said he wouldn't be done until 2 which means he wasn't even seen yet. I don't expect to leave my dog waiting for 2 hours in a cage when I book an appointment at 11am, especially because he is very scared of the groomers. I understand they are busy but if they are too booked out they should let their customers know of a potential wait time when dropping off instead of making dogs wait for hours in the back cages. Bathroom breaks AT the very least? Let's do better for our pups. read more

I have visited Ladera Ranch grooming for services several times. It's a little hit or miss. Sometimes it's great, sometimes they don't return phone calls. I have tried twice now to make an appointment and had to leave a voicemail. And I don't get a call back. When reading this review, please put yourself in my shoes! I say do not go here, they take walk-ups for 4 hrs., BEFORE grooming a dog with a scheduled appt. I would have given them zero stars if I could. I wanted to share my experience, for the first time @ the Ladera location. Got email confirmation for my dog to be groomed by Rachael R. Somebody named Jessie, was managing my dog, apparently, because Rachel got busy. Jessie seems like an intern and doesn't have the capacity to know that my dog should have been taken care of a long time ago. Not happy that Rachel didn't even help out. I dropped my dog off before 11:00am I stopped bye to pick up my dog @ 2:45 pm I was told he has NOT been seen yet. No lunch, back in a cage for like 4 hours. Jessie tells me that they have been taking walk-ups instead of taking care of my dog with an appt. I find it hard to believe that this is satisfactory. The team in Ladera just called me, so 30 minutes later to get a bathe, grooming, and nails done...sounds like a rush job to me. I will NEVER go back as this was a complete disaster. read more

I ve been taking my fur baby here for years and most of the time I was happy with their service but it except this time . It happened one month ago . The girl who worked on my dog , she did such a terrible job . When my husband pick him up my dog was shaking ... ... He thought he was hungry or something.. But later , when I got home and checked my dog as he was still shaking and looked terrified or in pain .. I then found he got bruises and his hairs were chopped off so closed to the skin here n there bear his tummy .The girl worked on him , never told my husband what happened . She even wanted to charge us extra fee for handling ?? It was outrageous! When I complaint she took off $5 from the total fee . Really !! My dog is the most friendly ( he is Maltese Poodle mix ) never bark or bite anyone ... he is always pretty easy to handle .. But I don't know why he was treated like this . I was pretty upset , want to talk the owner but nobody answer my call then I was out of town a day after so I did not call when I came back .. Luckily, I used some good ointment to sooth his bruises n cut .. His skin eventually got better .. But I believe my dog would ve be terrified if he ever come back to this place . It saddens me to leave this review since my two Pugs have been clients for almost 2 years. The staff are friendly, professional, and most importantly, have taken great care of my Pugs when they are serviced, especially my special needs Pug, Bruno, who is partially blind, deaf and a senior. So I have no issue with the service, staff, etc. I only want to note my experience in this review for precautionary measures for pet owners and Ladera Ranch Grooming & Spa management. My Pugs were given baths and had extreme diarrhea the evening of their service (June 7) after being home for a few hours. I did notice when we left the facility that afternoon that there was a mound of feces/diarrhea on the floor by the exit door and notified staff. It appeared to have come from a pet that left the facility earlier. I didn't think anything of it at the time. The following day, Bruno was coughing, sneezing, wheezing and having extreme diarrhea. We brought him to the vet and was advised that Bruno highly likely caught kennel cough at the groomers. Bruno - and Georgie - had not been anywhere near other dogs after their bath service. They came straight home. Having seen feces/diarrhea on the floor at Ladera Ranch G&PS the day of their bath and experiencing diarrhea and kennel cough symptoms immediately, it is fairly conclusive that both Pugs caught it at the facility. Fortunately, the other Pug, Giorgie, who is 10 years old and healthy, did not suffer the same fate as Bruno. Bruno's kennel cough progressed to pneumonia. Today (July 11), and over $1,500 in vet bills (emergency visit, tests, medications), Bruno is still experiencing the harsh symptoms of pneumonia and under several medications. Georgie is still coughing and has severe runny nose (mucus). I did contact Ladera Ranch G&PA after Bruno's initial vet visit. The owner responded a couple of days later via e-mail and informed me that she will advise her staff to adhere to facility cleaning/disinfecting protocols, and wished my Pugs well. I want to reiterate that I have no issue with Ladera Ranch G&PA. Pets contracting kennel cough, even if they are vaccinated, can catch it at groomers, boarding facilities, dog parks, etc. Pet owners - please ensure that the pet grooming/spa facility you take your fur babies to does not service pets who show signs of illness and/or aren't up-to-date on their Bordetella vaccines, and maintain strict cleaning/disinfecting protocols. There are no guarantees but the extra conscientious steps from both pet owners and pet grooming/spa facility owners/management can help minimize heartbreaking (and expensive) pet illnesses. read more

Worth the wait! I made my first appt with this grooming shop back in January. I work in Ladera Ranch so it was a convenient spot to take my schnauzer to be groomed. So prior to this I had let 5 months of growth build up since his previous groomer shaved him all the way down. I did my best to keep up with reducing his matting but I know he wasn't perfect. The day of the appointment, the shop quickly took him in, got right to work on his bath and set expectations for when I should pick him up. I took my dog in to get a nail grind. The 2 girls looked and acted like it was a bother for me to come in. I didn't like the fact that she clipped his nails and then proceeded to tell me that it would "take forever" to grind because they were long. Are you kidding me? That was so rude! She was very stern with him. He was compliant but scared- no reason to tell him to "stop"! Plus they left a big dog on another stand and I was worried he would jump off. I experienced first hand some of the same complaints that others expressed in their reviews. I called directly into the Ladera location to make an appointment. Upon my arrival a few days later, the front desk staff informed me that they had no record of my appointment that morning. Being that I was a first-time client, they managed to fit my Pomeranian into the schedule that day anyway. I was very clear with the groomer that I wanted him trimmed, but that I did not want to take off any major length. She confirmed that she understood. She also suggested a conditioner that would be an extra $10 to help his dry skin. I agreed to adding that into his treatment. Four hours later when I picked him up, I was shocked to see that his hair had been completely chopped down to no more than two inches in length and his once fury head and ears were cut with rigid and sloppy lines. I honestly felt I could have groomed him better myself at home. And to top it off, the conditioner obviously did nothing for his dry skin as he is now flaking all over my clothes. This all cost me a total of $76!!!! What a huge waste of money. This was my first and last time going to this groomer. read more

Unfortunately my Mom and I have both have had negative experiences with this grooming business. My mom used to take her dogs (past dogs and present) to Gateway Groomers in Mission Viejo, but with schedules and distance, she thought she'd try Ladera Ranch. Upon her first visit, she took her sheepadoodle, who was in desperate need of a solid brush/comb out and haircut. They did a pretty ok job combing her out but her haircut was so uneven and "half assed'. They made an excuse saying that it took so long to comb her out this was the best they could do and on top of that, increased the price of what she was told because of all the extra work. My mom was understanding and even though she was unhappy about it, she also was considerate to what they had expressed to her. She was also told to buy this "special comb" to help with the matting. So my Mom had made it a point to comb her dog out every day to make sure that the next time she took her dog in, there wouldn't be any issues. Fast forward to her last visit a couple weeks ago...I had been asked to take her in because my mom couldn't leave work. I said no problem. I knew we would be a few mins late, so I call them before her appt time to let them know I'm running late but that SHE WILL BE THERE and the first woman I spoke to let me know that that was no problem and that they will see her when she gets there. I manage to hit every single light on the way up to their door and all the while I'm calling every couple mins trying to let them know, with no answer. Furthermore, Apple Maps tells me that they're located behind where their actual store front it. I call until someone finally picks up to ask them where their door was and was spoken to like I was an idiot for not seeing their sign as I was driving up. I was trying to not get hit by cars backing out of spaces without looking. I had never been there before. I was profusely apologizing for being late and the girl kept driving her point home that because I was 20 mins late that she normally wouldn't take her and proceeded to continue on saying how now I've made her late to her other appts. I again said how this was totally my fault, I was so sorry for being late, that I struggled finding the door and that I kept trying to get ahold of them to let them know. She begrudgingly took my mom's dog and said they wouldn't be able to accommodate us if this happened again. I told her I understood and apologized again. Being late was totally my fault. Then when my mom picked her dog up 4 hours later, she proceeded to tell her how matted she was, that I lied about calling over and over again (I have the calls logged on my phone), and tried to charge her more *my assumption is because my late drop off, inconvenienced her* My mom explained the whole situation again and reiterated how apologetic I was and the girl fluffed it off and said that I wasn't. Then the girl asked when my mom wanted to schedule her dog for her next appointment with her and my mom said no thank you, then the girl reminded my mom about how booked she is and how she would advise booking her next appointment now. My mom declined and left. She is now going to a private groomer who specializes in doodles, doesn't charge/upcharge as much as Ladera, is super patient with her client's pups, hygienic, and is insanely talented as a groomer. read more
