Fantastic store with wonderful employees! We moved into the neighborhood last spring and noticed it on a walk with my dog. He has a few dietary restrictions and staff was more than happy to help me find a variety of high quality dog food that met our needs. They also carry just about anything up could need for many pets. A friend recommended this local pet store as an alternative to the chains. What do you get at this place you don't get at the chains? That's a great question, and here is my reply: 1 - Better customer service: The employees are super friendly here. Every single person I walked by asked if I needed anything, and when I did have a question, they were happy to guide me to the right area. 2 - Selection: Yeah, there are some things (like my dog's food) that I can't get here, but they'll be happy to order it for you. There are also a lot of things you can't find at the big stores that you can get here. 3 - Price: Prices seemed very reasonable, and with their loyalty program, it doesn't really make sense to shop anywhere else! read more

How sad! After 20 years of being a patron of Paws Stop, I'M DONE! This is the 2nd product I've purchased in the last couple of months that was over-priced and didn't perform. The 1st was an alergy medicine for cats that my cats refused to eat even mixed in wet food. I took that back and DONATED it!! I didn't expect a refund, though I should have been offered one. Then, I got a catnip toy an employee said cats go crazy over. My cats LOVE catnip toys, but had no interest WHATSOEVER. The product was probably stale. I took the toy & catnip back and was refused a refund. I used to love the personal service I received and was willing to pay the slightly higher prices to support a small local business, but no more. read more

I ran into this store on my lunch break to quickly grab a new toy for my puppy. I stayed at the store for a solid 45 minutes. They have tons of toy and treat options. They also have bumper stickers and t-shirts which I though was super cool. The customer service was also amazing. The guy talked to me about dog toys and showed me one of his favorite options. I opted to sign up for the rewards program and got a $5 off coupon for my next purchase. I told him I would probably use it on food. After helping me check to see if they carried my brand and realizing they didn't he offered to special order it for me so they could have one in stock when I needed it. I just had to call a few days before going out. Great experience at this place! Will defiantly choose this over any pet store I've been in! read more

I am an Amazon fanatic. You could say I'm addicted to Amazon. I don't even know how to enjoy a shopping experience without whipping out my phone and checking to see whether or not Amazon carries something cheaper. I will wait a couple days on shipping to buy something cheaper, rather than buy it right there and then out of convenience. SO, when I say that I stopped buying my dog food through Amazon because Paws Stop carries it either cheaper or for the same price...that's a big deal. I can drive 5 minutes to pick up the food, not have to wait on shipping, and be rest assured that I got a better deal. Not only that, the staff is extremely friendly and they know their stuff! It's a small location that can be easy to miss, but it certainly is a hidden gem. I love finding places like this because they are stocked with a lot of great items for good prices. I definitely recommend this place over going to a corporate store, like Petsmart or Petco, or worse yet, Uncle Bill's. read more

Paws Stop is pretty unassuming from the outside but there is a reason its been open for so long! Number one is customer service, followed closely by price and selection. Locally owned and operated is another big reason to check them out. They always promptly help me out to the car with big heavy bags, no waiting around for someone to become available. Today I called and asked for a bag of feed to be set aside so I could just run in and pay (since I had my two kids with me) and they were happy to do so, I didn't feel like a bother at all. They go beyond the regular cat/dog items and have a decent selection of things for hamsters, exotic birds, wildlife and my personal (and most often stop in) chicken food! Having 6 beaks to feed, we go through a 40# bag every two weeks or so and they always have it in stock. They have scratch, organic feed (starter through layer) as well as conventional feed. I am also buying my cat food and liter here also. Prices are very competitive with big box stores (Walmart and Tractor Supply) if not even better. I can get a 50# bag of liter for $14.99. Wow! I am a definite customer for life! read more

Pretty disappointed with this place. I met one of the owners at an event last weekend and talked with him about the specific food I use for my dog. He told me he knew exactly what I was talking about, that they carried it on a regular basis and to come in. I tried to come once at 7:30 but they were already closed. I came back a second time, a bit taken back from the horrible smell, and walked around aimlessly before someone talked to me. A man led me to the Blue Buffalo section where my dog's food was no where to be found. I was told they don't ever order the variety I asked about and that I must have been mistaken. Now I have to drive to the other side of town for a different store. I don't appreciate being misled just to get me in the store. read more

Just stopped here to get some supplies for a puppy that I inherited when my son passed away a few days ago. I apologize to the guy for being in such a bad mood and explain my son had just passed away. And he had the audacity to say well you don't have to be rude to me you can just leave him by your stuff somewhere else it's not my fault your son died. How rude can you be?! I wasn't cussing I wasn't yelling all I was saying was they didn't have anything I was looking for. Which they didn't have the things I wanted and that's not their fault and it's not their fault I was in a bad mood but I apologized and my son just died. it's not like I'm just grumpy woke up on the wrong side of the bed My son is dead and the guy actually got pissy and said it's not his fault you can just go buy stuff somewhere else. Well I will buy stuff somewhere else I will never come back to this place again. Thanks for being so empathetic.... You are a very unkind human! read more

Awesome!! Carries a great selection of quality products and the prices are very reasonable. The staff is friendly, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable. Scott spent several minutes helping me pick out a new dog food to switch to- very impressed with how much he knew about the different brands. The entire staff is great! I went to Speciality Pet Food yesterday and it was great! It is one of the few places in Indianapolis area that carries Acana & Orijen dog food. The prices are a few bucks cheaper than what I was ordering it for online. The guy even helped us carry everything out to the car. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff, who can answer any question extensively. Lots of alternative options for food and other goodies. I especially like the bulk options as you can carry the treats away in your own bag or container and reduce a little bit of waste. (I would love to see a company come up with bulk dog food options some day.) I like to support independently owned businesses over chains whenever possible and this store gives me plenty of reasons to do so. read more
