I wish zero stars was an option, but the grooming services lack extremely. I have a puppy (year and 4 months) and he is energetic and a little bit of a pain to stay still, I understand the struggle. However he is friendly and wouldn't hurt a fly, plus I would think this is a common thing dog groomers encounter (hence the special handling feel they charge). His groomer Taliyah from the second we brought him in seemed annoyed and frustrated that we brought him in. We told her we understand if you can't get his paws and face perfect it's not a big deal, just get his body and the best you can do everywhere else. She called 2 hours later saying he was ready, this is extremely quick compared to his last 3 appointments. When we picked him up he looked like the exact same dog we dropped off but after a bath and blow dry. Taliyah told us she did her best but he was too old and too far gone and he needed to be medicated next time he came in, but proceeded to charge full price and the extra special handling fee. I paid my bill beforehand so I was not able to see my dog first before I paid. He may be on the more difficult side to handle however this is the job and the service I'm paying for. It was a $120 bath, the services I paid for were not done, and awful experience dealing with this groomer. His past groomers at pet smart were very understanding and helpful, this was not the case. I now have to go somewhere else and pay once again to have him actually get a haircut and nails trimmed. This was a waste of time, $120, and someone being rude, lazy, and not wanting to work. If you have a younger dog who has any sort of energy I would just go elsewhere read more

I have been coming here for my dog to get her dog food and any other necessities for my dog. This is my go to and they haven't disappointed me yet. I love that you can earn points that ends up getting you rewards for money off on your next shopping trip. The store was clean despite animals being able to be brought into the store. I typically try to let my dog come here on my trip just so she can get out of the house which she does pretty good here. I love how they have poop bags inside the store in case a dog has an accident inside the store then the owners can clean it up. Customer service is great and prices are very reasonable. I love that you can order on the app and do a pickup either in the store or sit in your car and they will bring it out to you. If you have pets than you should definitely be checking out PetSmart for your pet's needs. read more

At other locations, I've had staff call ahead if they're short-staffed so I could reschedule -- but not here. They wasted my entire day without any courtesy or communication. I told them I'd be waiting in my car since I live over 30 minutes away and had a haircut at 3 PM. They assured me my dog would be ready in 2-3 hours. I went grocery shopping, ran a few errands, and came back at 7 PM -- only to be told I'd still have to wait another hour. When I said this was unacceptable, I was told they were short-staffed -- something they could have easily communicated before my appointment. Instead, they kept my dog for four hours and only gave him a bath -- then charged me for it. Their general manager, Cynthia, was not there. Instead, I had to deal with Conner, another manager, who argued with me and claimed I came back later than I did. No one apologized for wasting my time or for failing to communicate. Took my toy poodle to the grooming salon. Abby was the groomer. Not very pleasant. Told her how I wanted her groomed. Informed they would have to do scissor work and that would be extra. Ok. Fine. Got there to pick her up. The cut was terrible. Her feet were not shaved. The place she said needs the scissors did not look like she used scissors. The price went up because she said she needed someone else to help control her. She's 5 lbs. really??? Total cost was $112. No bow, no neck scarf, nothing. That ain't right. I have never been dissatisfied with bringing my Sheltie here until Saturday. Expecting to get the same service experience I've had in the past I was extremely disappointed & very unhappy not to be provided what I booked & brought him in for. Picked him up smelling like wet fur because the service wasn't completed. He had to have been hurt or mistreated by the groomer who claimed he tried to bite her. He has never bitten or attempted to bite anyone in his 11+ years. I asked to speak with salon manager & was told "she just left." They got an asst. store manager whom I spoke with briefly. I then called Sunday afternoon asking to speak with grooming manager. Was told she was busy & would call me back. Never heard from her. Bad customer service & experience. (Asst. store manager had also taken my name/# stating would pass on to store manager.) Heard from no one to address issues or compensate for incomplete service. If I could give this location 0 stars I would! I only booked because I had a coupon and normally take my dog to another place for bath or groom. I arrived 5min early and someone said the groomer was late and just walking in. His name was Logan and he looked like he'd just woken up. No one spoke to me nicely when I arrived. Lots of dog hair everywhere in clumps, small waiting area where 2-3 customers all waiting in close proximity. Logan needed my dogs update vaccine records so he asked me for them and as I stepped up an employee says "she's not next, the woman over there is first" very rudely! I step back and wait. I only booked a bath and he says it'll be about 2-3 hours! For a bath??? Fine, he takes my dog, doesn't greet him or look him over. Not even 30min after drop off they call saying my dog is stressed out and peeing everywhere and I had to get him! I was stressed, so many barking loud dogs and unorganized staff! No problem! I didn't feel safe leaving him anyway and won't be back!!! read more

I recently found out that a specific prescription food required by my furbaby was out of stock at my vets online store and a big online store in Indiana. Since restocking of this special food was unknown, I opted to try Petsmart. My vet only had to fax over a prescription to the Banfield inside Petsmart and they created a prescription card that I can use in store to checkout prescription food. Super simple and easy. Banfield and Petsmart staff are friendly. Cost saving tip: They sometimes will have prescription food on sale in store. Annoyed is understatement!, Bella cancelled for the second time in a week and 15 min before my 8 am appt, I just moved back to area and was so happy to find a groomer. Sometimes I will board my dogs here. One is very large so it's not my favorite because the spaces are not as large as other places. When I have to board my dogs in the same space, they can only fit one bed, so one of the dogs has to sleep on the floor. This location does not have an Outside facility so the dogs don't ever go out in inclement weather - which is good. They walk the dogs on inside turf. read more

My 5 month old Dalmatian took Shannon's puppy training class and the results are exactly what we were looking for. She is extremely knowledgeable, sweet, and caring. Shannon also uniquely finds a way to personalize the lessons to each dog even while doing so in a group setting. The staff is always so friendly as well! To the extent where they make an effort to know the dogs who take the classes and attend daycare. I was pleasantly surprised at how many employees said hi to Dotty as we passed by shopping after her second day at camp. Lastly, I also really REALLY appreciate how affordable their services are (especially the daycare). They frequently have specials and coupons as well, which makes it more affordable than most options in the northern Indianapolis area. We called frantic to find a place to board our blind 10-yr old shih tzu over Thanksgiving and we were grateful for the opening and the positive overall experience! Here's why: -We made reservations over the phone and were able to fill out all required paperwork in advance to expedite check in. -They pro rate the last day so if you can't get in by the morning to pick up your pet you can pay 1/2 price ($17 in our case) to get there by 9PM. -The space was clean! We were able to bring our own crate which we thought our little guy might be more comfortable in. -Staff we're friendly & efficient. -Bonus: First timers get 1 free night by mentioning the deal (on their website) One negative part of our experience was that our little guy smelled like urine a little upon pickup which grossed me out. They offer exit baths at an addl fee. We didn't do this, but should have! And we will next time. read more

Review only for grooming, I have had great experiences with training. I brought my dog to the groomer for the third time for a basic bath package (nails, ears, bath, and teeth). I dropped her off and groomer said to be back in an hour. Upon picking up my dog, she was wet with nothing completed. I asked what happened and the groomer said "I forgot to finish up with her". 2 stars because they did refund the service (which makes sense seeing that nothing was completed) and the manager gave me a free bag of bones, but I later found out when I brought her back again for a service weeks later (since I figured I would have a better experience with another groomer) that we have been banned "because we are not a good fit". Short and sweet review for my short experience. One mission: two muzzles for my two dogs that will not get along no matter how.darned.hard.we.try. I pulled up the Yelp app to find the nearest PetSmart and voila, this location saved the day for my quick mission. I enjoyed seeing more than three dogs roaming with their owners in the store during the five minutes I was there. The space was fairly organized and parking was easy. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the store and the grooming. We usually have a groomer but there were challenges in getting the dog in so we decided to try Petsmart. I was very happy with the cut my schnauzer received and he seemed to enjoy the experience and seemed very relaxed. This experience may have us looking to Petsmart more and using them. I also appreciate they check vaccination records and won't let dogs not vaccinated come in! Great job! read more

I've taken my dog to various PetsMart grooming salons for 9 years and had fairly good experiences. My grooming appointments have been canceled 3 times now within a single week between this Castleton location and Westfield. I had scheduled out 9 weeks ahead and they called 20 minutes prior to tell me the employee was on medical leave. I found another appt by chance later that day and scheduled which they then called me within an hour to say the person was out. Then I scheduled a week later and they called the day before to cancel. I'm fairly irate as my dog needs groomed and I'm in a pinch now. After 9 years of PetsMart this has pushed me to stop being a customer. I'll find another salon that values their customers time and animals. This is incredibly disappointing. read more

They have great hours for those of us who work late hours during the week and can't make it to the vet before noon on Saturday. I was able to get my dog in for his vaccinations the same day I called. They're very friendly. I've also used the grooming service here and I have no complaints. Toby came back smelling and looking terrific. Stopped by to pick up our dog's prescription food (Hill's canned i/d) as he is completely out and cannot eat anything else. Have the vet's prescription, but couldn't buy any food. I was told that we had to "fill it at the Banfield and then pick it up" which is fine but we hadn't been told that before and have purchased our food at PetSmart with our vet's prescription before. I tried explaining that our dog has no more cans and really can't eat anything else because he has very bad food sensitivities, but cashier did not care and said no. Manager let us buy a SINGLE can (our dog is a 90 lb Golden who eats 4-5 cans per day) and said that's all we could have to "be fair to other customers who follow the rules". Rules are fine but we were never told them up until tonight. Extremely disappointed in PetSmart, they will be lucky if we bring our service back. read more

Kendra is my new groomer! Leo is an 11mo 65 lb golden. Kendra explained why he needed to be cut down and was incredibly knowledgeable. Because of the thourough consultation I was not at all surprised, with how short he was cut, when I picked him up. I am very pleased with how he looks! This reviews is for the grooming and puppy training specifically! We have had our mini golden doodle for a year and this petsmart is amazing at grooming and training. We use Emily for grooming, she is the head groomer and really listens for what you would like your dog to look like and she absolutely love sour Indy! Shanna, their trainer, really breaks down training so the dog can figure out the commands without us forcing her. We loved puppy training and will sign up for intermediate soon! We signed up for Banfield at this location and while the staff are friendly enough the head vet wasn't very helpful when we showed up for the first time as brand new puppy owners. We switched to have our vet visits at the Carmel location. They also have many deals and that's the best way to avoid your pet bills stacking up! read more

I scheduled an appointment for my two schnauzers over a month ago. At the time of making the appointment I was told they need to have proof of a rabies vaccination. I do have proof from a vet clinic that comes to Specks in Geist. The vaccines are administered by a veterinarian. They provide a handwritten vaccine certificate signed by the veterinarian. The official vaccine number is on the form. I took it with me today for both dogs grooming appointment. (Again, made over a month ago). Keep in mind I've had my schnauzers groomed here many times in the past. I show up today and the young lady takes my proof of vaccine and says she's sorry she can't accept it because it's handwritten. I asked why would that matter since it has the veterinarian signature on it as well as a certified vaccine number. She says anybody could forge these. I'm really not sure how the average person would get a certificate of vaccine form, first of all. But why would I forge a vaccine certificate just to get my dog's hair cut. No one at this location has ever questioned my vaccine certificates before. I'm really not sure why there was a month out wait because when I got there today all of the tables were empty and no dogs were being groomed. There were some dogs in the shampoo room but none actively being cut at the time. I'm not sure if this particular young lady was just having a bad day or just didn't want to cut my dog's hair, but using this excuse was completely unacceptable. She even called Specks to get the name of the clinic. She called the clinic but they were closed on Saturday. She told me she would be happy to reschedule my appointments for a time when the veterinary clinic is open so she can verify the vaccine was actually given. I thanked her and told her no I would be giving my business to someone else, that wasn't so difficult to deal with. From here on out I will never take my dogs back to PetSmart for grooming. If this is in fact a policy, they need to let everyone know. I had a month, I could have gotten a printed form. Or made on on my own computer and PRINTED IT. read more

For those of you who have considered the Pet Hotel. It's important to keep in mind that they employee young EXTREMELY INEXPERIENCED people to care for your pet. Some people should never handle animals. If it comes down to any issues they have with your pet they can and will reject your them. I believe that in some case's the problem has more to do with the associate rather then the pet! Whether you're dropping off or the pet has been there in their care. They can demand that your pet be picked up ASAP. You will be required to provide the name of someone who can pick up your pet should they have a problem they would deem to be unmanageable. So if you're on the vacation of a lifetime on the other side of the world...that's too damn bad! The decision to stay or go where your pet is concerned is left up to someone who is making minimum wage !!! So you've made expensive and expensive plans...oh well! read more

I am long overdue in reviewing this Petsmart. This is my go-to place for cat food, toys, etc. The employees here are very pleasant AND there are usually pet food representatives wandering around to answer questions. My daughter and her husband bring their dog Pancho here for doggy day care when they are traveling and he really seems to enjoy his stays...he always gets a report card when he leaves :-) I recently came in to buy Royal Canin SO for my cat Rocky since my vet's office was closed. As I was checking out, I was asked for my prescription card. For cat food?! Evidently, I needed this, but the cashier was kind enough to just let me buy it and next time I'll either get the prescription from my vet...or just buy it at the vet's office since it is closer. But I really like this store...and it is conveniently located near Trader Joe's so I can do all my shopping at one time. My only complaint? I spend too much money here on toys for my cats...who just look at me distainfully when I return home with them :-) read more
