Came here in search of a dog groomer that is reasonably priced and near the Arlington area. This place totally over-delivered! First of all, you can book your appointment online if that's your jam, and they send you reminders up to the day of. As someone with social anxiety and ADHD, this is a wonderful feature. Second of all, it was snowing and I was running late and they were super understanding, especially since my dog was on the smaller side. Third, this is THE BEST haircut my dog has had in YEARS!! He walked in extremely nervous and shaking, and came out prancing like a happy prince. They followed to a T exactly how I wanted it, and based on my dog's behavior, they treated him with love and kindness. Last, they were on par with the prices I've paid out in Fairfax. So glad I avoided much worse traffic finding a closer groomer that does a great job! If you're in the Arlington/Alexandria areas, I highly recommend Letty and Kirsten as your groomers! Came in at opening Saturday morning with a Happy Pup, who needed a bath. The shop worker opened the door and showed me all the ropes. Very nice! Everything is clean and correct! They had shampoo & conditioner, ear wipes (all included), towels, warm water, blow dryers, & grooming brushes! Nice hose with sprayer attachments. And while my pup was a bit scared at first, she seemed to settle in rapidly. I had brought a lot of gear with me, which wasn't an issue either. The tubs are great, three available with no waiting, easy to get into for most dogs, and very easy to work with and keep splash to a minimum. Non-slip floors are great! And I loved the heated blow dryers & grooming stands, those are fantastic. Others seemed to be enjoying the experience as well, and before I knew it, my pup was clean and mostly dry. The price for self-wash was very reasonable too ($20 for a 35lb dog). I made sure to clean up my areas before I left, as did everyone else. Definitely want to return. read more

My Frenchie gets anxious in certain environments with unfamiliar people & unfamiliar barking dogs. He also doesn't like jarring noises like a hair dryers & doesn't spend much time in crates so this eliminates many groomers. Enter Pawsh. My friend recommended this place & sent pics as she was shampooing her dog who's recovering from surgery. Her pooch needed a bath but the potential groomer had to navigate around his surgical site. Friend decided to use the Self Service option at Pawsh to eliminate the stench & ensure her fur baby's wounds were properly cleaned. My dog & I arrived mid-morning & received a warm welcome. The staff took us back to our assigned space immediately. Pawsh provides everything you need to clean your dog, but you're free to use your products as well. My poodle came in with long...I knew they had to cut it down short. It had matting. When I picked him up they told me he was very calm...however they accidentally cut him on his balls and face. This review is for the self-service dog wash. I've done it 2x and prefer it to the same service offered by Petco Unleashed at two nearby locations. - Parking/Location: Bit better than Unleashed. Unleashed have parking lots and while Pawsh only has street parking, there is enough and the area is quiet and clean, which is nice for a pre- or post- walk. - Availability: Better than Unleashed. Both take walk-ins but Pawsh has more stations (one of which is a little more secluded than the others). More to the point, each tub has its own drying area, preventing the sort of traffic that happens at Unleashed. Pawsh also has a waiting area. - Staff: Better than Unleashed. Both are friendly but Pawsh actively gets you situated. You can see from my photo they offered a platform for my small dog, which was such a relief for my back. - Equipment: Comparable to Unleashed. Water pressure might be weaker at Pawsh but this could be a pro or a con. Probably user error but I have had hiccups with water temperature at both, and I find the drying machine pretty intense at both. Pawsh lets you change the dryer head though, which helps. - Supplies: Bit better than Unleashed. Both have towels, aprons, brushes, and IIRC ear wipes. Pawsh carries large quantities of four types of Earthbath shampoo, though! However, I do miss the teeth cleaning supplies and cotton swabs (for the dryers) at Unleashed. - Cleanliness: Better than Unleashed. It's hard for any place like this to be clean, but Pawsh has been less wet both times I've been and the space is much bigger, which helps with errant fur and such. - Services: Better than Unleashed, as far as I know. There are add-on services you can purchase to supplement your self-service wash, such as a targeted trim or expression. I think you need to call ahead to secure the right staff for these. I'm not aware if Unleashed offers anything similar. - Cost: Depends on size. The service is $17 for a small dog, not including tip, which for the reasons above I believe they deserve. I absolutely love and recommend Pawsh. They are so much more than a dog wash. We struggled to find a place that would cut our cat's nails for an affordable price. Mary has been the answer to our prayers. She expertly handles our cat and ensures she is not traumatized throughout the entire experience. They bathe and groom cats as well - we have not tried this service. The price is competitive with other cat groomers and is higher than for dogs- anyone who has tried to wash a cat should understand why. Pawsh workers are heroes. Be warned: most of the good reviews are for the wash, not the grooming. We brought our cavalier King Charles here to be groomed. Walking in, the service wasn't friendly, and I didn't feel like they truly cared for my dog from the start. They asked how I wanted him cut, and then proceeded to tell me "that's quite untraditional", which I thought was rude. When I picked him up, the hardly cut anything off, didn't listen to what I wanted from the cut, and then proceeded to charge me extra for "de-matting". He wasn't matted at all, besides maybe his ears. But as a base of $85 for grooming, an extra $30 for de matting was insane. I've never paid to have my dog de matted at any groomers before (and he's 6 years old now). I was extremely disappointed in the cu,t, especially for the price. I contacted the manager and they offered to re-do him if I brought him back. When I did, they said it would be "3 hours at least" - insane when all he needed was a correct cut. When he was done the second time, they still didn't listen to what we wanted (or they didn't understand) and he was hardly trimmed anymore than the first time. For $115, I expected near perfection for a groom for a 25 lb dog. I've lived in Florida and Washington state and never paid more than $75 for a groom total, including tip. (My $115 didn't even include a tip). They also proceeded to over trim his paws, causing him to bleed and didn't inform us at all until we saw blood on his seat when we got home. We've brought him to petsmart here in Alexandria and they do a better job than this place. I really wanted to support local, but this place is not worth the money at all. The only reason they got two stars is because the manager actually responded to my message and offered to (try) and help. read more

I need to give a shout out to the best in the business! We live in DC and had a bad experience with our dog the last time she went to her regular groomer - so we didn't take her back and she got more and more and then critically matted. We were scared to take her to any groomer as she is old, has had 2 acl repairs and the last time she was groomed she couldn't walk for a week afterwards. Our neighbor recommended Pawsh - a big trip for us, but i sm here to say 10000% worth it. They were kind and patient with her, gave her plenty of rest breaks, allowed her a resting room, so wouldn't need to go in the crate and had extra staff on hand to help assist as she cant stand for long. I went to self wash my dog. I took my own shampoo and brush. The tub was decent and so wash the dryer but that's about it. While I was there a dog was crying out yelping and they must've cut it while doing nails as there was two of them and blood on floor and I could see they got some powder. Amazing experience! Very clean environment and friendly staff. For our wash there were a verify of shampoos, sanitary wipes and more than enough of towels. There was plenty of space in the tubs for larger dogs. We had two Collies. The tubs are accessible from 3 sides which is super convenient (most other dog wash places have me positioned directly in front of my dog which makes if difficult clean both sides of my dog or work in tandem if I have a helper.) I met the owner (Mary), she and her staff were so kind to both of my 4 legged friends. My youngest is a bit of a handful and he needed a nail trim. Took my mini goldendoodle pup in who got out-of-control matted during these pandemic times. I knew he was going to need a closer shave/short cut because of how badly matted he was... and that it would cost a good amount of $ to get that taken care of anywhere! However, Mary and the staff at Pawsh were receptive to my concerns and explained in detail how they would approach his groom. Their #1 priority was for my pup to be healthy and comfortable and #2 for him to still look good! And that's exactly what they did. Not only did he look so much more presentable and carefully groomed than the last time he was given a short cut at a different groomer, but they were quick/efficient and the price point was very fair! I've been to this place twice. The first time after my 12 lbs terrier puppy mix got very dirty at the dog park near by. The owner Mary was there and is very nice. I washed my dog myself and she gave me some great grooming tips. So when my dog god very dirty again at the dog park and needs to be groomed as well, I thought, let me try their grooming services. Big mistake, hearing the other dogs howling in the back when I came in should have been the give away. I brought in pictures and made it clear I love the volume and fullness of her face and wanted her neck trimmed to better show off her collars with general cleanup everywhere else. They butchered her face. She doesn't even look like my dog and it's all uneven. Worst of all, my puppy was so unhappy. It took me a while to get her to do anything, she just looked so sad. That's not what you want from a little pup! This place is not cheap and I have taken my dog to other groomers in Alexandria who made her feel like she was just having play time. I will not be coming back and if you have a longer haired dog and and are particular about their look, don't bring them here either. Also, if you have a puppy and don't want them traumatized, don't bring them here. They said she was "spoiled". Well guess what? Only spoiled pups with picky mothers are going to groom at these prices on a regular basis. read more

I love bringing Petulia to Pawsh for a bath! It's an extremely clean facility and Mary offers wonderful Earthbath products to wash your pup. Another favorite are the towels. While other self serve dog washes offer thin, limp towels. At Pawsh you end up using fewer due to the great absorbancy. The drying stations are fabulous because your pup leaves the tub and sits on a dry platform. At the end of the wash Mary has a few yummy treats for sale. Petulia loves the jerky! Best dog groomers in NoVA. Mary takes such good care of my pets and truly goes above and beyond. Her staff are experienced and friendly, and Pawsh throws several events that are amazing to attend. Mary and her staff have years of experience and it shows. The prices are reasonable, especially given all that you're getting including shampoos for every need (such as sensitive, odor control, etc) and the staff is always happy to help. Their grooming services are great too (in case you don't want to do the washing yourself) and my dogs have been comfortable getting their nails trimmed and glands expressed (which is usually distressing to them in a place like petco/petsmart). My dogs are slightly reactive around stranger humans, so I feel more comfortable bringing them to a place like this for a "self-wash" because Pawsh accepts all the pups, as they are. They have always taken care to ensure that my pups do not come in contact with other "stranger humans and dogs" and they're the first place to consider reactiveness and the need for inclusivity in the DMV area. It's a beautiful place, in a great location. Always clean too. Ask about their events and their merch!! They also have some really nice accessories, treats, and pins. read more
