Both of those dogs have been dead for years now. But I appear to be on VIP Pet Elite's text spam list until the end of time. It is with sadness that I write this not-so-great review. I had an appointment, set a month before, and something completely unavoidable arose that meant I was unable to make the appointment. I called first thing in the morning to ask to reschedule and was informed that there is a $35 short-notice cancelation fee. While I understand how that might be necessary in many cases, I am a regular customer and have never postponed an appointment before. In addition, not too long ago, I had an appointment and VIP Pet cancelled my appointment an hour ahead of time because of something that came up on their end, and no one offered me a $35 inconvenience credit! I paid the fee and informed them that I would not return. It is an interesting and ultimately losing business model in which you trade a regular customer who pays a groomer $120 per month for a disenfranchised customer and a one-time $35 fee. All that being said, there is no shortage of great dog groomers in the Alexandria area, and I'll be searching for a new place. read more

Hi everyone! As I read through all of these reviews I can see how this is really confusing. There's SO many good reviews and they definitely deserve them. What you see on a bad review and the response from the owner is exactly the aggressive/poor customer service response you should expect though if "things go south". Let me start by saying, they deserved a 4 star review until things "hit a bump". I should have came on here and gave that to them. I knew they were traveling far for me and I was a complete inconvenience for them. (They made me well aware during it) The only reason why I would give them a 4 is because they were late more than on time. And I know I was far so I always looked the other way. The reason for my review now is I moved recently way further out of their zone. They declined me and I spent 4 months trying to find a groomer in my area for my dog. She has high anxiety and the Mobile groomers are what we need for her. Nobody would accept her being at capacity and I reached back out after an already inappropriate text from the owner (seemed very irrational and in my Opinion under some influence) about how she should have cut me a while ago and they were only doing me a favor coming to Sterling for me before. But wasn't I paying almost $200 a visit for you? Didn't you agree to coming? I think I would watch what I say to Someone who spent thousands at your company.Why I'm writing this- I recently met her in HER designated areas. I met her in Manassas. Drove an hour each way and tipped her 20% for a grooming total of $180. I chose to do it. I wasn't complaining. I appreciated her meeting me and seeing me. When she was ready for me and my dog I took my dog to the entrance. It was clear she was in the middle of grooming her own dog or just never cleaned before the prior dog. Trust your gut people. I immediately thought it was strange and dirty and didn't say anything. I picked my dog up on the quickest appointment she's ever had (under 1.5 hours) and she looked BEAUTIFUL! They do an awesome job!!!!!The evening of the grooming, my dog peed in the bed. She NEVER goes in the bed or the house and it was alarming! Yesterday (day 2) I noticed my dog peeing frequently when outside to pee. Not ever needing to go out more but peeing 3-4 times instead of once. She's 12 and she's in perfect health. X-rays, blood the whole nine yards has been reviewed in the past 3 months. Perfect. Yesterday evening she looks at me in the living room and pees on the ground. Looks at me while peeing! I was so shocked. This morning I woke up to her issue taking on full force and taking her out 10 times in 1 hour. Finally called the vet. My dog doesn't go ANYWHERE. She's a miniature poodle and literally lives inside except to pee and poop. She doesn't like outside. From the vet mentioning it was probably because of the grooming and the truck not being clean but also grooming 2 days prior, the chain of events of how her issue proceeded and the facts of her and her demeanor I was 100 percent sure it was the grooming. No matter what, I messaged the owner and said it's your business, I saw what I saw, I dealt with penny but I want you to know most importantly because I don't want it to happen to other dogs. Sure I asked for a refund or a nice gesture partial refund for my visit as my vet bill was $400 for a UTI. The reason why you should never go to this company is because the way this owner handled the situation- a MEDICAL situation about a living being is DISGUSTING. She immediately went on the defense. Called my vet yelling at them telling them they shouldn't ever tell people that and scared my vet to not even being able to stand behind the verbal determination that was given to me this morning. A woman who doesn't have a heart is not someone you want with sharp objects in her hand Everyone makes mistakes!! It's how you deal with them or handle issues that come up. She's the last person you want if something happens to your dog during grooming. I promise you that!In closure- I expect a long dramatic response back from her about how the owner "helped me out""met me on her day off" "met me at a special location" "cleaned up her dog before starting penny" and whatever else her LONG dramatic response will be. I will never read it because it's all lies. She committed to a job and is now FULL Of excuses. Excuses that is a medical issue for my favorite thing in life. Think about if you want someone who will make any excuse or not even to logically think about things and will never say sorry. Update: owners response to me was edited after her initial response. Nobody really thinks a UTI is contagious right? We CAN get UTIs from unsanitary conditions, it's not the only way but we can get it this way.They're bacterial infections that CAN enter through dogs urinary area when especially dirty equipment is used to groom that area....this is not all the ways to get it but one way. read more

Called Sarah and her mobile grooming service to groom my 4 year old Yorkie and was able to make an appt for the following week. I was not disappointed. The whole process took a little more than one hour (my dog's hair was somewhat short from a previous cut 2 months prior). Riley came out looking exactly as I had hoped and discussed with Sarah. I went to VIP Pet twice. The first time, I was thrilled. The groomer was nice to both me and my cat. She allowed me to carry the cat to the truck and was gentle and very considerate. The second time, a year later, the groomer was abrupt and would not take my cat without a carrier. I understand that, not wanting to lose my pet. But when I collected my cat, she told me my cat and probably my apartment was "infested with fleas". My cat never steps a paw outside the house. I've never seen any evidence of fleas on her or the house. The groomer gave my cat a flea bath without my say so. In grooming, she cut her. I was quite upset and called the company. After waiting several days, they finally contacted me and gave me excuses. They insisted the flea diagnosis was correct. They allowed that she shouldn't have bathed the cat, but ignored the cut. Nothing was offered or given in compensation. I put out "flea traps" for my own peace of mind and, just as I suspected, there were no fleas anywhere. So I combined the two appointments into one. I'm not going back myself, but maybe you'll be lucky. read more

From facials and pedicures (yes--there is special nail polish for your pet), to mobile grooming and taxi service, VIP has it all! I recently moved to the area and was looking for a place to get my yorkie groomed. VIP Pets is right around the corner and has great yelp reviews. I sent an email requesting pricing since I didn't see any listings on the website, and I also asked about the yelp offer ($20 for grooming). The owner, Guzal, responded and said she had never heard of such an offer, and that it was a mistake generated by yelp. However, she said they will honor the offer at the salon because it is the right thing to do! That's great business! Making an appointment online was easy, and I received confirmation right away. When I showed up for the appointment (on time) the door was locked and no one answered the phone. I waited 15 minutes until Guzal pulled up. She apologized; bad traffic. Guzal was very helpful in trying to make my nervous yorkie feel comfortable. She did a great job grooming him, finished his look with an adorable tie, and even gave him a dog-friendly fortune cookie for the road! All around great customer service. read more

I found this pet groomer at the last minute on Yelp because I was going out of town and my normal groomer was not open within my time frame. Sarah was my 4 lb 14 yr old Peke-A-Poo's groomer and she did an outstanding job! He was happy when I went to pick him up and looked so adorable! She was very cordial and asked questions to make sure that she gave him the hair cut that I wanted. I was not disappointed at all. I'm also a little fearful of cats and they have a resident one in their business. I forget the cat's name but it took to me immediately and I couldn't help but to give it scratches and rubs because it was sooo adorable! I haven't been back since my normal groomer reopened but I won't say that I never will return. Hi Tracy! Tracy has now cut my baby Bash (ragdoll/siamese) twice. Bash has very, very long hair, and due to myself having a lung disease, and fur was everywhere and I was coughing all day/night when her fur reach the almost adult(?) stage. Therefore, I decided to give VIP a try. The process from bath/shave to completion was about 2 hours. Bash was a bit distressed when we arrived but Tracy took her out of her crate and she melted in her arms, which is strange because she allows no one but me to barely touch her when we are at home. Bash was very calm with Tracy and allowed her to bath and cut her without having to strap her for the first shave/cut. Tracy told me the first person to try and bath her, Bash jumped out of the tub, lol, and they had to rebath her again. She did have an accident or two, but overall she did well. Her fur was clean, soft, nails cut and she was a happy camper. My daughter teases Bash about being "bald and naked and she is looking for her fur" lol, but I truly believe Bash likes the shorter hair better. She still grooms herself, but nearly not as much and no more hairballs to clean up. Mommy doesn't cough all night long any more due to the tremendous amount of fur. We are truly happy campers and I hope Tracy is around for a long time. I requested through email that they post kitty photos, as I have had a great experience, and have had others ask who shaved her and only have my photos to show. Hoping VIP will add kitty photos. We have brought our dog here 4-5 times over the last 2.5 years. The first few times we had excellent service, but recently it seems things have changed. First off, we have had trouble getting an appointment recently, even far in advanced. We managed to get our dog in, but the groomer I spoke with was very rude. They refused to give us a time estimate for how long it would take for the services to be completed. Our dog ended up taking 6 hours, which is no problem, but it would have been nice to know an estimate. She straight up told us "I don't want to give you an estimate." Secondly, this past time we were charged nearly double with no warning until the appointment was completed. When I inquired about the nearly double charge, they rudely said "well, he is a lot of dog" (our dog is 75 lbs, but why would this be different from any other time?) Apparently, this time our dog was paired with a "master groomer" and all past times a "junior groomer" took care of him. None of this was every mentioned nor were we given a choice before. This should be explained when scheduling an appointment. Our dog does look good after his appointment, however I recommend to save yourself the headache and take your business where it is appreciated, as opposed to the groomers making it sound like it is a hassle for them to complete services. read more

Guzal, the owner/manager, was very responsive to my email questions, of which I had many!! My husband and I, along with our 3 small toy dogs, recently moved back to the area and were looking for a pet groomer to groom our 3 girls. We had used another groomer when we used to live in the area 3 years ago, however, their hours of operation were not compatible with our work schedule, e.g., grooming hours on the weekend work best for us. I ended up scheduling the mobile groomer. Kathy arrived earlier than scheduled on Friday, August 5 (she called first to make sure I would be home). In addition to the providing vet records, Kathy had me fill out some client paperwork, which is standard stuff, for their client files. Kathy was great with my 2 yorkies, Coco & Lulu and my min pin Hula. She did a great job on Hula, whose coat was shiny and soft. She also did a great job on Hula's teeth and nails. For Coco and Lulu, I liked the way she groomed their bodies, but I had to retrim their faces since they were still a little longer than I would've liked. I showed her a photo of what I wanted, but it still wasn't quite right. I had told Kathy not to cut their bangs because I was trying to grow them out and not sure if she misinterpreted this to mean not to cut their faces at all. I didn't ask her to redo them because I had to take Hula to the vet after the grooming appointment and didn't want to be late. It was $305 plus tip for all 3 dogs, more $$ than I wanted to spend, but it was worth a try for the convenience of mobile grooming. I had taken my girls to the PetSmart at Potomac Yards when we first moved back to Alexandria in June, but I ended up having to bring both my Yorkies back to get retrimmed with a #5 blade and get their heads shaped properly. Plus it was so crowded there with a lot of larger dogs, that I didn't want to bring them back to that stressful environment at PetSmart. I may try VIP Pet's brick and mortar location where they have different levels of groomers and it costs less money than the mobile groomer. Definitely willing to try them again. Don't get me wrong, Kathy was great with my girls, but with the mobile grooming being more expensive coupled with not getting my yorkies' face shape right, I'd want to try a less $$ option. read more

I have been seeking a mobile pet groomer ever since we moved to Occoquan. I missed the right-to-your-door service for my less than well-socialized senior citizen pooch, and now we also have a boundless-energy puppy who could use a good nail trim. It must have been kismet when I stopped in at the post office to get the mail and saw a van with VIP Pet emblazoned across the door. I hopped in my car and drove up the hill and soon as I walked in the door, I gave them a call. Guzal was very nice and professional on the phone, and she gave me a discount for the first time service. On the day of our service, she was prompt, friendly, and handled my pups well; they came back inside much neater than when they went out to her van. The pricing is reasonable for the services provided and I recommend them. I especially liked the fact that her van fits with no problem in my parking space outside my townhouse and did not block the street (a problem I had occasionally with my previous provider when I was living in Ashburn as they had a trailer rather than a converted van.) If you're looking for a mobile groomer that covers the northern Prince William and eastern Fairfax counties, definitely give Guzal a call before she's completely booked. :) read more

Made a grooming appointment for 8 am Saturday--an express groom so that I could stay with our GiGI because she gets very nervous otherwise. We show up on time and with Gigi's vet records for their files as requested when we made the appointment. They hand me 5 more pages to fill out-- my personal history, home address, home phone etc I hand it back and say "we're here for a haircut not to board her--and we have the information you requested when we made the appointment" She looks me in the eye and says "without your personal data we can't do the grooming-what if there were an emergency and we needed to contact you?" I remind her it's a zoom groom-that I am paying them a 15 dollar premium specifically to be able to stay with my puppy. She refuses to budge-- So they have lost my business forever. I understand that company's have policies--but those policies need to make sense. I do not give vendors of services my personal information unless they have a good reason to have that data---clearly my puppy barber doesn't need to know my home address, phone or email nor my place of employment. Want my marketing data? you can't have it. Because no coupons, no faux "newsletter" or promotional spam is going to get me to come back after that first visit. Treating me and my puppy with respect and solid service will-- but these folks don't seem to know what those 2 items are. I went to Petco and got treated well, got a quick appt and did not get pressed for any personal details....nice to know that there is a business in the Arlington area that respects my privacy and is interested in serving me and my puppy-- VIP is not that business...sadly-- they are the opposite-- arrogant, demanding and uncaring. This is the second time I have taken one of my dogs here - this time my wire-haired Jack Russell because she needed grooming. My experience was average - my dog looks nice, but her skin is very red. They said the process used to thin her fur might make her skin sensitive, but I wasn't prepared for this! Plus the groomer was very rude and condescending when I was asking questions about the procedure they would use. They kept my dog for 4 hours - it might have been longer but I called since I was going to be there in the area anyway and they did have her ready when I arrived. Took our little snorkie Baxter here for the first time after a terrible experience at a salon in Shirlington. He was extremely nervous, but our groomer (I want to say her name was Christie - sweet younger blonde girl) was so nice and patient with him as we walked in. He hadn't quite warmed up and I was so nervous to leave him but I had to run home to get ready for work. They knew I had a bit of a time constraint and I was pleasantly surprised when they called me about an hour later to let me know Baxter was all done! When I got there, my little anxious anti-social dog had transformed into an adorable little fluff with a tie playing with all the other little dogs in the grooming area! He didn't even notice me walk in the door! Of course when I called his name, he came running over - but I couldn't get over how happy he was! His grooming was exactly what I had asked for (just a clean up) though I did wonder about them not cleaning the ears up a little more. She took the time to explain how she grooms a Mini, even showing me the guidelines that she uses. After the bad cut, she explained that his mustache would have to grow back in certain areas, and that I should be patient. After his first cut he looked like a Miniature Schnauzer again.
