Although it was beyond hours, Susan greeted us, answered questions, and, in reality, comforted both of us. She also offered any help she could give to our situation. Indecision kept us busy for two more weeks, but decision made, we called her. She and a volunteer came on a Sunday and collected our surplus and our cat, taking time from her weekend to let us say goodbye, assuring his care, and thanking us for the privilege of being able to help. Fantastic, caring organization. We are indepted, and will be in their support list for a long time. If you are searching for a new furry friend, give them a call. I wake up at 4:30 for work and on my off days Lloyd assumes he gets fed at 4:30 so he screams till I relent and feed him. He loves being held and will lay in my arms for hours...Lloyd's foster told me it will take a special person to care for him because he needs tons of attention. He is exactly the perfect cat for us and I am pretty sure he feels the same way.

I called and left a message explaining that she was a particular kind of kitty and best suited in a home where she was the only pet. A man called me back, he didn't even bother to ask me any questions. he was clearly exasperated, in fact, he sounded almost insulted that I had even bothered to call them for help in the first place. He told me that they can't take a cat who can't be around other cats. Well, she's dead now. She got sick, so I could not, in good conscience, get rid of her, or send her to a shelter. So, I worked with her, until she could go no further. Hyperthyroidism was the disease and she did not respond well to the medication. In the end, we had to make the agonizing end of life decision for her and we let her go. Of course, she would have gotten sick, regardless of whether the shelter stepped up to help, or not, but I am still posting this because it is abundantly clear that they do not want to have to go above and beyond for the cats. They just want it to make pretend that they do.
