Harmony High School has a four-year veterinary program supervised by a very well-respected and government-utilized veterinarian who performs tens of thousands of very low-cost spay/neuters every year along with full exams, dental work, blood tests and bathing. In addition, they offer the lowest-cost pet shot clinic (and blood testing inside a mobile unit) in lovely surroundings every third Saturday out at Kissimmee Valley Feed Store (which in itself is the cleanest and best-staffed facility of its kind I've found to date. These folks care!). The students at Harmony assist under the auspices of the vet, and volunteers staff the check-in area as well as provide timely phone and email followup. The costs rival those of the ASPCA, Humane Society, etc., and one can prepay via PayPal when brand new. I have had very good service using them for both neutering, spaying, blood tests and shots. They tend to shy away from fecal exams, unfortunately, though their list of services does show they do them along with deworming. The high school premises are immaculate, and the students have a very nice demeanor. If you go, be patient as check-in (between 7:15am and 8am for surgeries, Tuesdays and Thursdays) can be hectic depending on the number of cats and dogs (and owners!) showing up. Be sure to list every service you want on their paperwork, going over it carefully before you go. Pickup is between 4pm and 6pm.
To get there, take Hwy. 192 east just past Hickory Tree Road, turn right at the light at Arthur Gallagher Blvd., get into your left lane and stay left, heading to the rear of the high school grounds. You will proceed towards the back of the football field and bleacher area, move right to pass thru the yellow gate, shift a bit left to go over the grass and then concrete walkway, then over the grassy area again, as you see the sign for "Vet Clinic." It is the middle door of three, and just to the left of that door where you'll enter the clinic. It sounds confusing but don't be daunted; it's a very small jog. Pull up as close to the door as you can get, especially if you have more than one pet carrier. All animals should be contained or leashed properly.
Although I have used another vet for 23 years with no mishap, just ever-escalating costs, plus other vets, pet shot clinics and animal hospitals, this is the best I've found of its type. We are very very happy to have discovered this operation and, so far, they have done wonderful work and saved us a bundle. They also lower costs for catch-and-release and are trying to get a mobile neutering service going.
