Recently I had inherited a 3 years old Maltipoo. Being a first time dog owner, I needed to figure out the caring and grooming for this dog. Finding a local groomer became one of the many challenges for me. Based on the reviews, I chose this groomer. They are located at the west end of downtown CV. Walking in the store front, it has a very homey friendly country feel. They do not put dogs in crates. My dog has great separation anxiety so not being confined in a crate is a great relief. My appointment made via phone, requires a $50 deposit. My morning appointment, my dog was immediately taken in the back after grooming requirements were collected. Again, being a first time owner, they walk me through steps. A ninety minutes expectation was given for their work and they would text me to pick up. Upon my return, I was walk through grooming tips and tools (Coombs and brushes, and other products). I appreciate the advice. Since my dog's hair was knotted, he was trimmed very close. They were prepared to scheduled the next appointment but I held off so I can reflect on the overall experience. My dog was appeared fine from this experience though the trim could be more even throughout. Luckily the fur will grow back and no one will know the difference. I was sent a link to schedule appointments online. Overall I hit a very favorable impression with the store front and friendly staff. I definitely will schedule future grooming appointments. read more

Our Cat had an ingrown nail going into the pad. No infection prior to going in. Schedule a date quickly with Pawsitive Karma for nail trim and ingrown claw. They were able to accommodate myself and the kitty. Upon the nail trim they found another ingrown in the dewclaw and safely trimmed the claw. I appreciate all their help and friendly service. *Note, our Cat is an older kitty and they advised this does happens often with older Cats due less scratching to shortened their nails. This was my first time taking my husky to get groomed at this place and I absolutely loved the entire process, from making the appointment through the phone to the interaction with the groomer. Our groomer was Yerette, at least that's what the paper was signed and she did an amazing job! She made sure to ask questions about what my husky likes and doesn't like. The grooming also took only 1 1/2 hours which is speedy. I've gone to other places and I'll have to pick her up about 4 hours later! Definitely would recommend and I will be going back! I was hectic to bring my lovely husky ( Luna) to a grooming place since she had a really bad experience at a different groomer but this place it's totally different, they do communicate very well and explain every step to what will be done to your pet, they do care about your pet, great work done by Priscilla and other team member (I'm sorry I can't remember her name ). I take my senior dog here for nail trims and anal gland expression, and we always have a wonderful experience. Priscilla is amazing -- she takes such great care of our baby and handles him so gently. We've been taking our shitzu for over 3 yrs there and have been satisfied with his haircuts. The place is pricey but one thing we do love is they don't keep the dogs caged up after grooming and service is efficient. My only complaint is the last few times my dog has been there he will come back with fleas. So now we just make sure to he has a treatment ahead of his spa day and that has worked wonders. read more

I took my cat there and they were friendly. I have been taking my cat there for quite some time and I love the way they cut his hair give him a bath and cut his nails. They do a superb job. I know I couldn't do it. They are a bit on the expensive side, but it's definitely worth it. Came through here to pick up Green Tripe foods for my dogs. Adorable little spot, easily accessible. I was very happy with the owner's knowledge and also the variety of raw foods she had available. I was able to bring home some duck eggs, chicken feet and rabbit patties for my dogs. I can't speak to the grooming, but retail items will definitely bring me back. read more

At out dog's 8/15 grooming, she was razor burned on her v*lva; it was extremely painful for her to urinate that day and the following day. This resulted in an urgent care appointment ($338.16 bill for examination and two prescriptions). She had to wear a cone and receive topical medication for irritation and oral pain medication for the remainder of the week in order to get back to regular urination without pain. She literally stayed curled up at my feet or on my lap for three days because she was in such pain and so miserable. Food, play, and walks were out of the question. She has been groomed for years and no groomer has ever razored her v*lva and burned it. We emailed the vendor to notify them and received no response. read more

I am a first time client & had my Pomeranian groomed her for the first time yesterday. We recently moved back to the Hayward/CV area so finding a groomer nearby was needed. I was impressed by the reviews, checked out their pictures of Poms, I liked how I saw a picture of a pom with a top view that was still very fluffy after a visit. I know a lot of people like the "boo cut" but my size and shape pom isn't suiting for the boo cut, plus that's a very short cut which I've read isn't good for their fur. I have very mixed feelings with this place, I was happy to be able to call on a Monday and get an appt for the next day, the woman who booked the appointment was also very pleasant. Upon entering I was a couple minutes before our appointment and was greeted by our groomer Neysa who was ready to go. Having a pom, we like to keep her fluffy and full & I told Neysa I mainly wanted to have her sanitary area cleaned up, along with her face to be rounded out. We went over her body and I said I didn't want her shaved or short. She was pulling up the fur length on her back and neck area to ask about the body length, which I stated not much off just a trim & that I still wanted to keep her fluffy. She said ok to all of what we went over & that she would be ready in about 1 hour to an hour and 15. I left feeling confident that everything would be as discussed upon my return. My Pom was ready in the time communicated, so when I came to pick her up, I was disappointed in the over all result. All of her fluff was mostly gone... The woman at the register asked me how I liked her cut, I let her know it was much shorter than expected. She said they used the longest attachment that they have, which confused me as I didn't think that was going to needed for what was discussed. I asked if they used hand scissors at all, which she said yes, just depends on the area they are going to use it on. I paid $90 for the cut & left $20 in Neysa's tip jar. But I just didn't feel happy upon returning home. I called back & let them know I felt like I needed to provide the overall feedback bc I just didn't understand where the miscommunication was. The woman I was speaking to let me know she was the manager and that they're happy to accept customer feedback & but had long winded answers to my concerns. She stated that when I said I wanted a "trim" that wasn't the correct wording I should've used the term "cleanup" which would've been the more correct term. When I explained that we went over the body length also, she said there wasn't anything they could do fix it at this point (which of course I know, what's done is done we have to wait for the growth) but they would let the groomer know. I felt like she had more rebuttals during our conversation rather an understanding but at the end of the day for me, I just wanted to make sure my dissatisfaction was heard. She said it would be noted and if I chose to come back they would keep it in mind, but because they keep their appointments to an hour or hour and 15, there's no hand scissoring done as the receptionist had told me, so she apologized saying the receptionist was mistaken but that made me feel as if there's no point to returning. Ultimately, there was no solution for us. The haircut overall I think would've been acceptable to someone who wanted this type of cut, but I just don't understand how my requests were either completely ignored or misunderstood. We will probably have to wait 2-3 months for my Pom to get her fluff back again so we'll see where we take her next, I didn't feel like my return business is wanted at this point. I just wish I felt more valued in my first visit here. read more

I have been coming here for 9 years! My chihuahua loves this place. His 18-1/2 now and his absolutely a lover of all the wonderful cuddles and pets he receives here. My go to is Robin she is experienced with seniors has many dogs of her owns and fosters so she is a wizard at calming down my senior. Alex is a cutie! She's so lovely and always handles my senior with love and care. She remembers all the doggos names and is lovely to call up. Yes this place is appointment only bc they do not cage anyone that being said. The ones complaining about calling in, it's not that hard to get through but they are busy! Because they are that good! I make my appointments every 4 weeks out and have never had a problem calling in for one. The clothes and pet supplies are all so cute and holistic, healthy top grade products. The place is impeccably clean, and always has the cutest baked goods. I recommend this place to anyone I meet with new pups and definitely for seniors. Everyone here genuinely loves dogs, cats and rabbits! There is ample street parking and parking lot is shared but I've never had a problem finding a spot. I'm in an out in 35 minutes and my dog is a short hair. I hope you visit this place it's worth it every time. read more

I will never go back and do not recommend this place. I had a 4:00 appointment for my cat and received a text at 4:11 that she was ready. Granted we arrived 10 minutes early but for the price you pay you should receive premium service. She was rushed through the process and didn't receive the service we paid for. I took my maltipoo here for a full cut, bath, the works after reading all the positive reviews here but was very disappointed. First, I was surprised that it would take them just an hour to do the whole job. Just seemed very rushed. Second, they groomed the whole body but left his facial hair really long and it looks just really not proportionate to the rest of his body. Third, my dog's ear hair were slightly tangled and instead of brushing out his ear hair to untangle them, they cut off parts of his ear hair so now they're just uneven!! I love his ears longer and they just don't look right at all! Fourth, hair on some parts of his body are super uneven. On his penis, there's several strands that are really long, looks bad and they just didn't do a clean job at all. I'm very upset with the job they did...not at all worth $80! read more

For nearly ten years, they have done baths, haircuts and nail trimmings for all my pets and I loved their work. It was always difficult to get an appointment and getting someone on the phone is almost impossible, but I still liked their work. Prices go up sure and I continued to support them because they are a small business. Their prices now are outrageous though. They know they can price gouge because they work in an affluent area. But $150 for a haircut/nail trim/bath for my 15 yr old cat is outrageous! That's less than an hours work, for more than you pay for a massage! They didn't even tell me their prices went up $40 in three months time! I will never take any of my pets to Pawsitive Karma again. read more

I am not sure what they do here but my Maltese has been here twice now and she is a fan. I know this because she doesn't mind going and she's not jumping in to my arms to leave as soon as we get there. That says a lot! They do book out a couple months in advance, but they are willing to put you on a wait list, and will call if they have last minute cancelations. Although their prices are a little higher than I was paying before, it is clear that Bella enjoys her time there and Anika seems to really love Bella. Plus, they do a good job on grooming her. Overall 5 Stars for service, location/parking, and merchandise. For starters, when I called no one picked up, so I headed to their competitors down the street who picked up my phone call and welcomed me in. However, I realized the competition had an impossible parking situation, so ended up going to Pawsitive Karma (by the way, adorable name for a dog grooming biz!). This shop has a small parking lot, east of its store front. Thank goodness! It maybe a shared lot with other businesses, not sure. Upon entering the store, I was surprised to see so many different dog food/treat sale items. They all seem to be of high quality, not name brand stuff full of dog food fillers and preservatives. Albeit extremely pricey, it's still nice to see so many options. There were also items for cats too! Collars and toys for both animals also. So I asked for a nail trim for Chumba, my Rhodesian Ridgeback. The ladies there said they could take her right away. My girl was a little antsy, but Alexandria was very nurturing and was an excellent dog groomer for Chumba. To entice Chumba's good behavior, I found a bag of treats I thought she would like (Plato Pet Treats-whole, dried Baltic Sprat) and purchased for the groomer to bribe Chumba to sit still for her paw-icure. It ended up being a pricey visit to the groomer. $20 nail trim (probably $15 for smaller dogs, and pricier for bigger dogs) $20 bag of treats (I wasn't expecting this pricetag) and another dried fish skin ($3). Plus a %20 tip for the groomer. Whew! This place is nice how they are appointment only for full service and nail trims are walk-in welcome. As explained to me, there are no dog cages in the back, so dogs are not crammed in waiting to be seen by the groomer while the groomer finishes up another dog. I also like how holistic dog items are offered, such as the CBD oil and mushroom products. I probably would have said "what a sham!" But there is a lot of current research on the benefits of these ingredients on the health of humans and animals. Maybe one day Chumba and I will try them out... Definitely will return! read more

We had a bad experience elsewhere and found this place online. The owners are personable and great. Our Poms are always treated great. They always smell like blueberries afterwards. I can't believe I've never written a review for the gals at Pawsitive Karma. My heart is so happy to have found such a wonderful place to take my kitty, Ayah. When I moved back to California I had no idea where to take her and made the terrible mistake of taking her to a Petco for a bath and nail trim. Well, a few months later kitty had gotten used to getting into our single pane windows and all the dew built up in them caused terrible mats in her fur. The husband and I tried to take care of them ourselves, but she just wasn't having it. I opened the phone book and found Pawsitive Karma's number. I'd seen the storefront and had always loved the name so I gave them a call to see if they could help. From the very first phone call all the way until now I have never been anything but extremely pleased with Pawsitive Karma. Everyone there is kind, friendly and incredible with Ayah. Ayah's always been a little on the chubby side but grocery store kibble had made her down right fat. Since talking with Marilyn about a raw diet we transitioned Ayah to raw food and she's looking better and younger - including all the energy! I have a dog who has behavioral issues and I've been rejected by many places but Pawsitive Karma took him in and worked with him and they do an amazing job! Nikki is our normal groomer and she always tells me how my dog gets better each time he comes in. I come from Livermore to have him groomed so it takes a part of my day but it is worth it.
