Two of our dogs were seniors and one - a very tiny special guy. All visited the vet prior. We tried a week or two of daytime visits to build rapport. She hired her mother for these visits. For our trip, we asked that Veronica to be the caretaker when we were gone, BUT she switched out for her mother at the last minute. Daily videos and reports were promised. No photos came. We had to beg for news. We came home to two extremely sick senior dogs. Bad infections from holding urine. Poop all over our carpet. One of our dogs never recovered. The other barely. Our vets were shocked at our dogs conditions. Our little guy developed damaged front legs and shoulders, apparently he was not supervised, allowed to jump off seats and run downstairs against our directions. To this day (4 yrs later), he is crippled , on medications, and in constant pain. VERONICA DID NOT TAKE ANY ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THIS CRIME. She only agreed to pay to clean the carpet. With all of our veterinarian costs and grief, we had no opportunity to pursue a legal case. Four years later, we've never recovered from the heartbreak. I was really hoping to like House of Hounds. After two boardings I can say that we will never go…read moreback. On both boardings there was absolutely no communication. I signed up with the video cam and checked daily for proof of life. It would be really nice to get updates of daily activities as well as additional services paid for; i.e. walks, hikes, kong treats, etc...we got nothing. In addition, when we picked up our dog on the second boarding I had to ask for the blanket I left with our dog. When they brought it out they said that the blanket got wet from a water dish while our dog was playing with a toy in the kennel. When I got home I discovered that the blanket was actually soaked in urine. It makes me so sad to think that my dog had no choice other than to relieve himself on the blanket...something he would never do. On the first boarding, his dog bed was wet but I chalked it up to a kong treat he might have gotten. I normally do not write reviews but was so disappointed with the care that my dog got that I felt compelled to share. This place came highly recommended to me...unfortunately I can't say the same.

Both of our dogs are rescues. Cali has pretty bad separation anxiety, and Willow is a obsessive chewer, so it's just not a good idea to leave them home alone, and we refuse to board our dogs or use doggy daycares, as they feel safer and more comfortable in their own home, so pet sitters are the best option for us. Kristy was kind, definitely a dog lover, and hung out with them for a few hours, and both of our dogs were happy as could be when we got home. It looked like they were all watching a movie together when we arrived. :) Very relaxed and in good spirits. We were pleased with the service, and so were our dogs!

I've told her this but i keep getting her favorites. I don't want them in my house anymore. I have learned not to patronize such places once this starts to happen. Julie will also double book and even triple book, and i heard she tells sitters to put priority on dogs and do cats after. Sometimes my 9:00 cat appointment gets pushed to 10:15 because of her scheduling problems. I'm going with the many, many local sitters who do even better jobs and they are invested in our neighborhood cats. Julie being "bonded" means nothing but she says that's her strength. Ok.
