Years ago, Kelly used to be a groomer here. He's fantastic. My yorkie at the time, Frankie, basically had little to no hair. It was adorable. Kelly always did an amazing job on him. I know, how hard can a hairless dog be to groom? Well, to make it look less like he was hairless and more like it was just a groom...I guess for me it would be tricky lol. To them, it's easy, haha! Anyway, Kelly opened his new place in Star and Frankie and I continued to go there until Frankie's passing last year. Spoiled Dog is literally like 5-7 mins from my house. Frankie's old spot is more than 20 and probably even more now that the amount of traffic has increased dramatically in just the past year. It's sad. I wanted to take my new little guy, Alfie to Kelly, but I decided to return to Spoiled Dog. Either choice would have been good, but I 1000% have lucked out with another great groomer that works at Spoiled Dog. His name is, Jordan. Kelly even spoke very highly of Jordan, so I knew Alfie was in good hands. There are mixed reviews about Spoiled Dog on here and Google. My reviews I always try to be as straightforward as possible. If something is shit, I have absolutely NO problems writing about it. I am not however, someone who will like Karen out for a min and write a bad review for something so minor. Something people do too often with online reviews. I've noticed the bad reviews are mainly about another person at this place. That's whatever. Jordan is Alfie's groomer and again, I've lucked out because he's incredible on so many levels. Jordan is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, for starters. He is so sweet with Alfie. Alfie immediately LOVED him and I was kind of surprised by that. Alfie isn't even a year yet, so he gets a little freaked out around new people/places etc. I took him to Jordan the first time just to get his nails trimmed. Alfie basically cuddled right in his arms and let him do it. I think Alfie would scream bloody fn murder if I tried or he would think I was playing with him lol. You should see us when I'm brushing him. GOOD. LORD. Hahahaha! Jordan on top of being excellent with Alfie, is an excellent groomer. This last groom, Nov 9th, he did exactly what I wanted and then some. I know some of us can be a pain in the ass when describing what we want done, I even apologized just in case I was being "that guy" haha! Jordan was so sweet about it. So friendly. Working any job in dealing with the public is extremely challenging. I can't even imagine what it must be like for a groomer lol...especially people who are real nasty. I guess to some degree because grooming is not cheap, people are ok to know what they want. It's not ok to be a massive dick tho especially to someone who is working on our kids :) That was quite the ramble huh? Haha! I'm so glad I found Jordan. It was meant to be. Alfie loves him, I love him hahaha, I absolutely love his skills and his abilities to connect with the animals. He is truly an outstanding talent. Yeah fuck you're planning on trying this place out, seek out Jordan. You won't be disappointed. The place is super clean, spacious. They have kennels, boarding whatnot. I mean, it's a doggy spa haha! I won't ramble too much more. Yelp will cut me off and then I'll turn into a super Karen on my side of the screen haha! Spoiled Dog is a wonderful spot and that's because of Jordan. I'm glad I decided to go back here. It's about $50 for his groom. Is that pricey? To me, yes lol. With all the people moving here tho, I'm sure that's one of the reasons the prices went up. It's also pricey (imo) for a 5lb yorkie, but the important thing is...he's a great groomer, knows his shit, and is excellent with Alfie. It's very hard to find a good groomer who REALLY enjoys his job. Jordan is just that. You can see immediately in his finished product that he loves what he does and just watching him interact with the dogs...again, you can see he loves his line of work. I imagine it's very rewarding. I just called this facility to inquire about boarding services for my 11-year-old black lab and the owner of the place answered the phone and proceeded to tell me that she does not have any availability. I said well how do you know whether or not you have availability I haven't told you my dates she says well what are the dates? and I said well it's gonna be sometime in September and another time in October and she asked how big is your dog? I said she's a black lab. She says oh I quit boarding big dogs. It's at the end of the day and you know I just don't have time to talk about this right now and I don't take dogs unless they've been crated before or have been in a kennel before. I said well my dog has been crated before, and she asked me "how do you know?"! She then asked me if I'm new to area and how long have I lived in Boise - crazy talk - what on earth does that have to do with boarding g my dog. At that point, I made the decision to end the call and not go any further. Good grief with the way she was short and rude behavior It was clear that the owner is not wanting to have any additional business and wants a bad review and no referrals so I told her that I didn't care for her tone and that I was not interested. I called today to make an appointment and the owner answered. I told her I would like to schedule an appointment to groom my labradoodle. She told me that she only did full service appointments that I should call petco. I asked her what the entailed and she said haircut, nails and the works I told her my dog needed that. She responded saying g she was booked out for 6-8 weeks and I tried to schedule and she would not let me. She was rude and short tempered. I told her it sounds like you aren't looking for new clients and she told me she was busy and had a dog on her table then hung up on me. I was shocked! My parents referred me to this store however I will never go there. read more

We found the spoiled dog when we went to meet our rescue dog, Henry. The spoiled dog was fostering him while he was looking for a home. Since we adopted Henry, we have taken him back to the spoiled dog every time we needed to leave him for an overnight stay or a vacation. He goes absolutely crazy when we pulled into the parking lot and he sees where he's going. I don't know what they do back there but Henry absolutely loves staying over with them. They also do play care during the day which is perfect for a rainy day when you know you're not gonna be able to take your dog for a walk. Anyway just got done making a reservation, and told Henry that he was going to be able to play with david, which is the next best thing to coming with us! read more

Don't go here to work or to bring your dogs I use to work there. They have a lot of turnovers. They use a shock collar some of the dogs without the their owners knowing but when I use a spray bottle they told me no. Down at daycare and and at boarding 90% of the time there is only one person to watch on average 20 dogs. The owner is a complete bitch and that is why there is a lot of turnovers. The staff at this dog resort seem friendly and helpful but there is negative vibe in this nice establishment. A groomer who I finally figured out is named Melinda must have experienced some negative things in life to be so judgmental and hateful to some of her customers. I have personally watched her argue about if a person has taken care of their animal and what she thinks they should be doing instead. News Flash Melinda if someone did not give two cents about their animal they would not be bringing them to a establishment called the spoiled dog. They would not be having there animal pampered and washed or giving them social time when they could be saving their cash. I wondered if this maybe only happened once and then I came across this review from another customer: Belle Mara a week ago I have had only praise for The Spoiled Dog Salon and I have told so many others about their caring manner, but today the owner had me in tears before I arrived home. I dropped my Weimer off for a bath (hypoallergenic), nails and specifically asked if they would clean his ears. When I picked up my boy.....the owner, in front of her numerous staff and customers berated me so severely..... I was in complete shock. When I arrived home I telephoned and trying not to cry, I attempted to explain how embarrassed and shamed she made me feel. I asked her why she couldn't have expressed her concerns to me in private so as not to berate me in front of others. She agreed that she had no idea that we had spent thousands of dollars on surgeries, numerous tests and various medication over the years. That we currently spend $1100 annually on his special diet. That we had taken him to veterinary dermatologists, that we were told he did not have bacterial 'infections' in his ear, but that it was yeast overload......that we had taken him off steroids, which seemed to be the only remedy to kept his yeast growth down, but caused so many other side effects. Just before she hung up on me, she briefly apologized, but insinuated that I should take better care of my dog. She also said she was too busy to take me aside in private, that others appreciated and even thanked her for her bluntness and that my boy will keep her awake tonight. It saddens me that I won't be returning to The Spoiled Dog Salon, but I will pray for whatever else is going on in her life, will be healed soon. I will have to agree please don't push your negative assumptions on your customers because of maybe something horrific that has happened in your past with animals. I hope this makes you realize that some of your customers don't appreciate walking in to see/hear that. read more

I liked this place before but never again!! In the past couple of times my dog was not super excited to stay, as she was in the first months. Today, she was received by Melinda, and my dog was not wanting to stay at all. My dog usually loves being around other dogs, but even with other dogs at sight, she didn't want to stay. I came back 10 minutes later, thinking it over, and hoping she would be better. When I asked Melinda how my dog was doing, because she was very stressed when I left her, she told me in her own words "I don't have time for this" and yelled at my dog to come out, gave me her leash, opened the door, and gave me my dog's groomer phone number. I found this extremely rude, disrespectful, and if she had told me that my groomer was no longer working for her, we would save us both time and a bad moment. I understand she wanted me to pay daycare, but that has never been an issue before, so why would I have to do it now. I am glad I came back for my dog and I won't come back. Be on the watch, trust your dog if he feels that is not the right place. read more

That they call this place a "resort" is comical. Just drive to their parking lot & you will undoubtedly hear many dogs in their boarding area crying and howling and yelping like we did. Also, try calling them to make an appointment or just stop by and you will most likely not be met cheerfully by anyone working there. They all seem so disgruntled and grumpy... not people I want to take care of my "spoiled" dog. I've never seen one person working there with even close to a smile. So sad, especially for the animals. read more

We picked up our dogs and they were wet and smelled like they slept in urine. One of our dogs had a cut on his neck that they failed to mention when we picked them up. Never going to take our dogs there again. Very different than what we have experienced before. Staff has changed and doesn't seem to be as friendly. read more

This has got to be the worse place for boarding your pet. When we picked up our dog he was exhausted so we thought. He was violently ill throughout the night. When I called the resort I was told it could be because it was hot. When I talked to the owner she said that he was stressed and maybe the heat. Couldn't even get it straight who was working. First person I talked to didn't mention he was stressed. I asked if they have video she said yes but would not let me look at. $200 worth of vet bills and a 1.5 lb weight loss later (small breed) he is on the mend. read more

We have been taking both our dogs to Spoiled for over 4 yrs.. The service and cuts are very inconsistent. We have had one groomer for most of those years except for 6 months when she was let go for over charging customers and then hired back for some reason. The reason I am writing this review is the last time, early April 2016, we had our Doodle SHAVED, which is not what we requested by any means by our regular groomer. There web site says 2 to 3 hour service, he was there 6 hours, he is 13 yrs.old.. Never got a call from groomer as to what had to be done. I doubt if she did the shave job on him anyway. Have sent e-mail to owner without any response from her or groomer. Will NOT be back and have heard many other similar complaints. Melinda, the owner, does not seem to care about any of her customers and just likes to groom the EASY FOO FOO DOGS you see her grooming in the front when you walk in. BIG profit, BIG tip grooms. DOG LICE!!! Have been taking my pups there for play, grooming and boarding- the only place they go. They were itching a lot so I gave them a bath for dry skin and discovered dog lice! I had to get confirmation from our vet because I didn't know what the little bugs were... Talking to other dog owners about it, and a previous employee, I was told Spoiled dog has had several cases of dog lice over the past few months! When I went in to talk to the owner about it she said there had been only one case of lice in the play area and one in grooming, and that they had "caught" it in time so it did not spread... That is ridiculous, lice spread and they are very difficult to see! All they had to do is post a note saying that it is out there and as dog owners be aware of it so you can look for the signs with your dog! The owner said she didn't want to start a "pandemic" and it was only one dog. Well guess what, both my dogs were there (a lot) and they had lice! It is Spoiled dogs responsibility to let their customers know about something like this so they can be proactive with their dogs! When I said that to her she turned around and walked away! After 4 weeks of daily baths for our pups plus steam cleaning and sterilizing everything they come in contact with we are lice free and will never go back to Spoiled dog again! read more

I did not use grooming services so I cannot comment about that but with regards to boarding I'd caution anyone who is considering this kennel. Our chocolate lab was there for 7 days and when we picked her up I noticed an open gash on her muzzle. The attendant didn't say anything so I asked what happened and he said she got into a scuffle with another dog. My dog is extremely docile and I wondered why she was exposed to aggressive dogs. I asked why they didn't place any sutures and he said their vet examined my dog and determined sutures were not needed. I took my dog immediately to our vet and she immediately placed sutures and because it was infected put her on antibiotics. I called the kennel's vet and he said he did not, in fact, examine my dog. Wanting answers, I spoke with the owner of the kennel and she said that she was the one that examined the dog and determined that sutures were not needed. Problem is she is not a vet and not qualified to do this examination. Because what she failed to see was another gash under my dog's chin which was a puncture wound that went up into the inside of my dogs mouth. My vet had to place a drain to relieve all the infection. Now I understand that fights break out at kennels but this kennel does not have the proper follow through to treat any accidents or problems. The owner of the kennel is grossly negligent. She is not a vet and completely missed the open wounds on my dog. If she was qualified she would have determined that sutures and antibiotics were immediately in order. When I spoke with the kennel's owner and said I would like to be reimbursed for my vet bills she said she would not! Pet Lovers! Do not use this kennel! Your pet will thank you for it. read more

I had a grooming for my dog scheduled on Fri. Dec. 1st. When I showed up for the appointment, the person at the front told me that the person that was supposed to groom my dog quit on them without notice and that my dog would not be able to get groomed that day as a result. She told me that she could not find my phone number to call me ahead of time. I told her I filled out a customer card the first time I came in, so she looked for my customer card with contact info while I was there and found it within about 30 seconds. I assume she must not have looked that hard to begin with. She was quite flustered about the situation, and I know they were busy and with one less groomer; however, the way she handled the situation was very unprofessional and it did not seem like she cared. She didn't treat it as their problem and blamed the groomer that left. She did apologize and said they are "doing the best they can," but really didn't seem to care that I just drove 15 minutes with my anxious dog to find out I have to turn around and leave to drive all the way home and without another appointment. She told me they'd have to call to schedule my dog in as soon as they could fit him in, but I have yet to receive a call. I understand that a situation like that makes it difficult when you are already busy, but I felt she could have done more...maybe tried to see if there was any way they could fit my dog in that day or at least scheduled me in while I was still there (or offered me a free grooming). Instead I got nothing, and now I have to find another groomer that can get my dog scheduled in soon, which is not easy around this area. Everywhere I check, it's at least 2-3 weeks out. I am really upset at how the situation was handled so unprofessionally. read more

I first learned about The Spoiled Dog through the owner's (Melinda) work with the local dog rescues when I dropped off a horribly neglected dog to be groomed. Since moving from Seattle to Nampa I had been unable to find a groomer I trusted. Seeing what she accomplished with this frightened shelter dog, I took the plunge with my own dogs and have been a regular customer since. When I adopted an emaciated Anatolian Shepherd Dog whose coat was in terrible shape, I immediately took him to Spoiled Dog. He could barely walk and was so afraid, a staff member carried him inside for his grooming. He looked like a different dog and was less stressed when he left than when I brought him. Not only is their work impeccable, but they truly love and care about the animals left in their charge. Having had many groomers over the years, it is easy to say with authority that this is the best. I drive from Caldwell to have my dogs cared for there and would drive further if I had to! read more

I have been taking my dogs here for 3 years for daycare and boarding. It used to be reasonably priced for the service, but the prices keep getting raised repeatedly, and at my last pickup I saw their latest price increase notice on the counter stating if you pay with a card it will cost 3% more in addition to another boarding price increase. I called and spoke to Melinda to understand why her prices are going up so much and nothing is be added from a service perspective, for example, most other boarding kennels have webcams, but this place does not, yet she is now more expensive then anywhere else in town (I've checked them all) and she doesn't even offer what her competition offers. She said to me, 'it is what it is, I don't have time to explain to all of you (I guess she referring to her paying customer) my reasons cost increases." I am happy to pay for 'value' but when the price just keeps going up and up and up and the service doesn't change and I can get the same service everywhere else for cheaper.....its time to take my business elsewhere! read more

Took our Maltese there for her second grooming. Walked in and you see about 10 groomers lined up. Seems like a grooming mill not a "resort" type of atmosphere. Employees did not seem happy. Spoke with the owner who did not "gently" scold me but rather spoke to me like I was 5 and told me how terrible it was that my dog had a few matts. Anyhow,I could deal with all of what I just mentioned. The worst thing is, they cut my dogs ear! They took 5 1/2 hours and it was finally when I called them, they reluctantly said I could come. Owner apologized but told me not to touch the ear. She said it had taken her a good while to get the bleeding to stop. The ear did heal after about 2 weeks. I was extremely close to taking her to the vet but by the next morning, the ear sealed up and began to crust over. My biggest gripe, they never even called to see how she was AND, still charged me full price for the grooming!! Terrible way to do business in my opinion! Won't be back!!! read more

I brought our golden doodle to the Spoiled Dog because I was told they were the 'best'. I figured as long as that was true, I would be more than happy to drive her from East Boise to eagle. We took her there three times. The second time we took her was the only time I saw good work. They had done a great job cutting her while still keeping her look. The third and last time I will ever take her there cancelled out any good feelings that I had for this groomer. When I showed up to pick my pup up from getting a 'trim' I noticed she was completely shaved down. I asked why she was shaved and if this is what my husband had requested and I was told "no, but I couldn't remember what the haircut was we did last time so I just shaved her" WHAT?!? Was it too hard to pick up the phone if you didn't bother to take notes?!? It doesn't stop there. When I got home I noticed a bare piece of skin exposed on my dogs leg. I saw that it was red and when I looked at it closer, she had been cut and there was a flap of skin the was still attached and still had some blood on it. I couldn't believe what I saw, there's no way that groomer didn't see that this had happened if I was able to see it while she was walking across the room. I just took her to her first grooming appt since this place and the struggle to get her into a groomer now is heartbreaking. I will never use the spoiled dog again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more
