Cat lounge facing the cafe and entrance.

I always have a pawsitvitely delightful time when I visit this cat cafe. Located in the same building as M&T Bank at the Regional Market, Pawsitivity is a cat cafe full of color, whimsy, fun, and lots of feline friends! The cafe area itself is small- there are two tables where you can sit and drink your drink or eat your treat. The drink selections are often named after current or former cat residents. The drinks change seasonally and vary from a basic latte to homemade boba tea! The pastries options regularly include vegan and gluten-free choices. The cafe also has a little gift area- I have picked up a number of great earrings, stickers, and magnets there. There is a great emphasis on being LGBTQA+ friendly too! Now, the cat lounge itself! I would recommend making a reservation online. They take walk-ins but that's sort of hit or miss on wait times. Once you arrive you can check in, grab a treat if you'd like, and then have run down of the rules and procedures. In the alcove room you remove your shoes (gotta wear socks, FYI), clean your hands, and enter the cat room. There's a good chance you will be greeted by a cat immediately. Or several. So watch your step! There are usually about 10 or so residents, varying in age, some of whom are adoptable, and others who are permanent residents. There's a little black board with names and status and all, and the cats have name tags on their collars too. The space itself is fairly big- there's room for the cats to run around or hide away easily. It's easy to spy cats but they will come and find you. I love meeting the different cats and getting a sense of their personalities. I don't have pets myself, so it's always nice to visit the cat cafe and play with or pet the residents. I've met some curious young cats, sleepy kittens, and relaxed older cats. If you're considering adopting I think it's a nice way to have an intro. Or you go just to hang out with cats because cats are great. One of the things I love is that on the bookshelf you can find adoption stories of their past residents. There's also a rainbow bridge book to remember the cats who have passed on. It's one of my favorite things to flip through. Other neat features of Pawsitivity are they regularly host special events, such as movie nights, paint nights, board games days, crafting, yoga, etc. Car parking - it is a shared lot. On farmer's markets days the area can get a little wonky over there. Bike parking is not in place at this time. You can get there by bus (it's actually within walking distance of the Syracuse Regional Transportation Center).

This was a must visit place during my weekend getaway to Syracuse and it did not disappoint. The kitties here were super cute and fun to play with and give attention to. I love the passion the staff has for helping these babies to have the best lives they can and to find them furever homes. The cafe was really nice too with profits going toward helping and housing the kitties. The play area was very spacious and well kept with lots of toys and activities to play with the kitties. Their location near the huge market was nice as well and makes for easy parking and a nice visit when at the market. I loved this place and helping to support them and their mission.

Not an exaggeration that this is the single greatest place on earth (full disclosure I left with a cat and he is truly my pride and joy) My boyfriend and I knew a cat cafe had opened in Syracuse, but we stumbled upon on it one Sunday morning and I was beyond obsessed. I love all animals, both a cat and dog person, and being a college student I am deprived of pet love. We went in and paid 15$ to spend an hour in the cat area (a great price and helps keeps the place running and feeding them!) and I could not have had more fun if I tried. Be warned: ALL CATS ARE ADOPTABLE!!!!! My boyfriend and I met our (now) cat O'Malley (who is sitting on my lap as I write this) and feel so lucky to have found him. (He is the orange and white one). The woman who owns it is so kind and has a true love for the animals she talks care of. I am an active follower of her Instagram, and love seeing all the adoptions (they are up to 40ish since September!). They are always getting new cats, so new ones to see weekly! Also, they accept donations so if you have any extra toys or food or anything to help out definitely drop off! Overall, such a fun, great, happy place and she was extremely kind, communicative and answered my millions of questions during the adopting process. Dont walk, RUN, to this cat cafe if you are in Syracuse!!

Friendly staff. Nice setup for interacting and adopting cats/kittens. Reasonable fee - 30 minutes - 1 hour.

Call ahead to make sure that there's enough space in the cat room, because currently there is an occupancy limit per COVID-19.

I contacted Helping hounds dog rescue and filled out an application. Their process is rather simple- fill out the application, provide your veterinarian contact number, and have one reference who knows you call them. Once they approve you, you are free to go and visit all the dogs (protection of the animals i'm assuming and it's a great thing!). The whole process literally took a week. I was able to go to the rescue, tell them which dog(s) i was interested in and they let you walk them and hang out with them before you decide. They even let me "trial" a dog home because I have cats. I feel right in love with my dog who was "Cheers" at the shelter but we renamed her "Ginger". The fee paid (i believe i paid $600) covered all of her vaccinations, neuter, vet visits etc. All of these fees go back into the shelter. I had a phenomenal experience and was matched up perfectly with my dog. I love, love love her and i would highly recommend this rescue if you're looking to give a dog their forever home. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind , and reassuring. They take excellent care of both the dogs and the adopters wanting information. I would highly recommend Helping Hounds Dog rescue!!

A feral cat that comes to me for food was again at my door, too afraid to come in. I called two hours before appointment to let them know what I was doing and they were very understanding. Another bad weather day I was to meet them at petsmart. I live in camillus and went to that one since they know I live there and the volunteer never once said which one, she was in clay when I called from camillus location. She then wanted me to drive to her house which I said I couldn't get there since I had a ride. I got a text that she was done with me and would give the cat to someone else. I wasn't going to say anything, but a month later the cat is still available.

I appreciated it because I was so looking forward to having her join me and my family quickly. As a family member now, she is wonderful, a doll. Snowy is adapting quickly. Within a couple of hours she was walking around, eating and doing her necessities in her litter box. She follows me around like a puppy. She is still getting use to Bentley (dog) but has no issues with him. And he, none at all with her. We have set Snowy up for a general vet appointment for Tuesday, April 22nd. Basically, to establish a relationship with her and the Rockaway Veterinary Service Vets. Thank you once again for putting your trust in me and my family. Our adoption of Snowy is a serious and lifetime commitment regardless of anything to us. We are hoping that our reimbursement/contribution of $300 dollars which is nominal will help save other cats like Snowy. In the future, I would like to donate to your cat fostering organization. Please let me know how and where I can send our donation? Thank you again for Snowy. Our adoption of her means the world to us!

The technicians and front desk staff were very nice, but the doctor was dismissive and seemed annoyed when I had questions about my cat's care. What really got me was that he flipped out over her weight (half a pound over the standard) and made me feel stupid for how I was feeding her. He insisted on me bringing her back in a month later to weigh her. I only consented because she needed follow-up shots and a nail trim, so I had to come back anyway. When I came in, they refused to let me come back to the room to observe how they trimmed her nails, making me stay in my car. The reason they gave was that the doctor wanted to close early and my appointment was preventing that (my appointment was two hours before the end of business) - there was no COVID related reason to make me stay out. The doctor was displeased that my cat hadn't lost enough weight to satisfy him and made his tech run messages between us about how I adjusted her food, which was crazy because it was freezing out, and she had no coat on. He then made a follow up appointment for another weigh-in without my consent. I had it at that point, found another vet, and canceled my appointment with him. I'm not going back unless it's an emergency.

A week later she called me while I was at work saying she had spoken with my landlord and that my apartment did not allow pets. I was quite confused because I had never heard of the woman she had spoken to, and I had asked her to put my application on hold and was now midway into adopting a dog elsewhere. I tried to calmly get to the bottom of the miscommunication, reminding her that I had sent her written proof of my pet policy over email, and that this was not my landlord she had spoken to. I suggested maybe it was a wrong number, or a new employee at the leasing office. She snapped at me "Would you just be quiet and let me talk!" At this point I told her to withdraw any of my information from her system, and never contact me again. I called my landlord and she said she had never spoken to Linda. This strange miscommunication should never have happened, as I had already requested my application be put on hold. It also could easily have been resolved if Linda had listened to me and conducted herself with professionalism. I am so happy I will be picking up my dog tomorrow from a more professional shelter. For these reasons I can unfortunately not recommend this shelter. But please, adopt (elsewhere) don't shop!

Linda and Ed are marvelous, honest, and very hard working and really care with a massive heart about what they do. They are strict about requirements to adopt from them. That is only because they want to do their very best to make sure any adopted dog is in the safest hands possible and that potential adopters are fully prepared and able to take the best care possible of any dog they may adopt. It is a lot about the dog and minimizing return to shelter situations. They really do dig deep into potential adopters, again this to make sure any adopted dog will be safe. Linda and Ed have made Gerties Small Dog Rescue their life, they have an excellent track record and are well respected in the community as well as within animal and rescue circles.
