The review is based on my last 5 years. Pax Pharmacy has exceptional customer service. They treat me and my family members like VIP. Refills on time and delivered for free to a neighboring city where I live. I have changed my insurance a few times the last few years and they are very fast with updating my patient file and very patient with explaining my copay. Finding a professional doctor, dentist, chiropractor, pharmacy, etc can be stressful but it gives me sigh of relief that I have a neighborhood retail pharmacy I can trust and rely on. I also like how community-oriented they are. It says a lot when you go to nearby hospital and medical offices and everyone knows Pax Pharmacy. I always support local family run businesses. Pax Pharmacy and their staff go the extra mile and make sure I understand even the O.T.C medications I pick up. The best part is I wanted a particular ankle brace from a specific company and there able to special order it for me with their next day order. BONUS: They open on Saturdays for the last minute pick up before a trip or even worse when I need cold medicine! Very convenient and free parking.That's always a plus! read more

I don't usually leave reviews on businesses but I had such a wonderful experience here that I had to share. I was very nervous to receive my covid vaccine but the staff at Pax were so friendly, they made the entire experience seamless. Upon arrival, a gentleman helped me fill out a general intake form and within minutes, the pharmacist Mike came out to give me my shot. He was pleasant and friendly and stayed with me for 15 minutes after my shot to make sure that I was feeling okay. It's taken me two days to write this. Unfortunately it's going to be a terrible review. Not for the pharmacy itself. I have no opinion about the pharmacy itself. This review is for the pharmacist named Mike. In all fairness this guy may have been having a bad day. I don't know because I don't know him and I don't know what he's like. But I can tell you this- I picked my 86-year-old mother up from City of Hope, which is just down the street. When she was discharged, we were sent to Pax pharmacy to pick up pain medication which was called into them. Being from Upland, California which is 35 minutes from the City of Hope, and the need for the medication right away, I decided to travel the four blocks to pick up the medication once we left the hospital. I walked in to the pharmacy and saw about a half dozen employees behind the counter. The one next to the register turned out to be Mike. Standing for two minutes, 2 feet away from this individual, I never received a "Good Morning," or, "I'll be with you in a minute," or any other salutation. Instead he continued looking at his computer screen ignoring me. When I said excuse me, his demeanor was agitated and said "What do you need?" Wow! What do I need? I need to get my 86-year-old mother home laying down after her major surgery, not to forget the stage four cancer that won't be going away. But I maintained my composure and smiled letting him know that I needed a prescription filled. He snatched my prescription that I had placed on the table, put it on the counter next to him, and said "It'll be five minutes" and to go have a seat in the hallway. He turned and started looking at other prescription bottles that, I'm sure, we're waiting to be filled and looking at his employees and talking about unrelated things. After two minutes, I asked how much longer it would be. My reasoning for asking was because he didn't seem to be doing anything else that seemed too important. He looked at me annoyed. I explained my situation with my mom in the car and needing to get her home. There was no apology or "I'll get right on it." Instead, he continued to disregard me, grabbed the medication for my mom, and processing it. Some of the other employees kept looking at me with expressions indicating they felt bad for me and that they were sorry things were happening the way they were. One of the employees even brought me a bottle of water and said, "Please give this to your mom." Pharmacist Mike finished my order in less than one minute, blurted out that it would be $85, and -without saying another word- we completed the transaction. I walked out knowing that I would never walk back into that pharmacy again. Although this is the pharmacy that, apparently, City of Hope uses and, knowing that there will be many more visits for my mom, it is the last place I would ever want to feel bad about being a customer. For Mike, you're not all that, friend. You're attitude and demeanor was very much not needed. You, of all people, should understand that the patrons who enter your pharmacy are usually not in the best place because of needing medicine that you provide. Perhaps when you get a little older you will find your compassion and not have an attitude that the world centers around you. As for the gentleman who handed me the water for my mom, she very much appreciated it and drank half the bottle before we even got on the freeway to head home. Thank you. read more

If I could give this family business more stars I would! I spent a week at COH a few weeks ago and my parents were there during all my allowable visiting hours. They were so exhausted and running on fumes by the day of my discharge. I was concerned about them trying to locate my local pharmacy to have my prescriptions filled. After all they are from out of town and between unfamiliar territory and complete exhaustion every little task was extra challenging. Our case worker offered delivery by a local pharmacy so I would not be without my pain medications. I thought this was a great idea. It didn't take much time and Eddie at Pax came to the rescue. He promptly showed up in my hospital room with my bag of medications and a big smile. He took the time to go through the prescriptions and we were able to handle the copays bedside. Eddie was a complete professional and seemed to genuinely want to help us minimize our tasks. I never knew a service like this existed. It saved so much time and headache for all of us. Eddie told me there is a lot going on so if I forget the details of my medication I could just call for another explanation. Eddie also mentioned that when I need a refill to give them a call and they would deliver to my home. I explained I am 40 miles south and my insurance probably would not cover home delivery. Eddie told me that Pax wants to help make life easier for patients going through difficult times so delivery would be free of charge. So here comes the end of my first week and I am low of multiple meds. I called Pax back for refills. It turns out most of my refills were over the counter and not covered by insurance. I offered to get them local to save them a 40-mile one-way drive. Mike said it was not a problem and not about making money from my insurance; and that he would be happy to deliver whatever I needed at no charge for the delivery. He also told me he would be happy to support delivery for as long as I needed. On Saturday, his sister and father ended up coming to my home to bring my medications. Isabella gave the medications to my family and was a very pleasant lady. My experience with Pax has been wonderful. They have a family feel and treat me like family. That's very rare these days. I hope other people will support this small family business. They have a heart of gold and make you feel special. I went back to COH this week and my nurse commented that she was in awe and shock of my pharmacy. Apparently, one of my refills was a controlled substance and required an in-person pick up of the prescription. Mike, the owner of Pax didn't want us to have any delays so my nurse said he sent a courier to pick up the prescription. I would not have known they went the extra mile if my nurse didn't mention it. Pax is clearly in this not in it for praise but they clearly do care about patient/customer service and satisfaction. I wanted to take the time to review this business because all too often we overlook the positive experiences we have and only take the time to write about the ones that upset us. Never go here or buy rx at this pharmacy. Please educate your delivery person (Ed) to have a better attiitude when delivering rx's to City of Hope patients. He can be heard complaining by the patients on the way out. He was irritated in delivering rx's. If he's not happy with his job and being in contact with patients he should find another job. 5/13/16 Follow up call from the Mike (owner): Thank you for getting a hold of me regarding the situation. My attempt was not as you mentioned to tarnish the family business, for all i know you provide great customer service to other patients, but unfortunately your business customer service was tarnished by your employee (Ed). Irregardless if he's having a bad day and had to deliver rx's to far areas, each encounter with patients reflects your business. You should never bring frustrations from previous patients to another patient its not professional, especially dealing with the elderly and cancer patients. It was unfortunate and its sad that you have someone like him working for your family business, and actually he is the one to blame for tarnishing your family business, not me. And plus, it is not my obligation to call the owner of the business to complain about the service we received, thats what YELP is for.....right? Dr. Daher (Mike) and his staff at Pax Pharmacy go above and beyond when it comes to customer service and the care of their patients. My parents live in Port Hueneme, CA and had a problem where their pharmacy increased their co-pay to something they couldn't afford. Mike went out of his way to find a local pharmacy that covered their medication at a lower cost and even offered to drive their prescriptions to them (over 70 miles) every month at no additional cost. He and his staff care about the well-being of their customers/patients over anything else and I would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

Unfortunately Pax Pharmacy refused to fill my pain prescription issued to me from City of Hope, (where I have been a patient for the past 9 years), proceeded to mention the DEA to me , Pharmacy shopping and treated me in a judgemental way and insinuated I was attempting to do something shady at their pharmacy. I am a City of Hope cancer patient who lives with chronic pain daily and unfortunately I am used to other pharmacies refusing to fill my pain scripts, but never had this experience at this pharmacy before. For 2 years straight, I had no previous issues, was treated kindly and with respect at Pax Pharmacy. Each month, I would need to get 2 DIFFERENT pain medications filled ON THE SAME DAY, and they did this for me with no judgements..until a few days ago. Because I had gotten one of my other pain medications filled at City of Hope, within a day or so before going to Pax, they began to question me as to why I was there to get my different pain medication filled there at their pharmacy. I explained why to the Pharmacist and owner,who knew me as one of his customers, he seemed to think I was there to conduct a shady transaction. As I mentioned before, I had been going to this pharmacy for years, getting BOTH filled on the same day with no problems. I have no idea why I was harshly judged, especially since this pharmacy deals with a clientele of many other City of Hope patients. I returned to City of Hope Pharmacy immediately afterwards very hurt to be treated this way, explained to them what had transpired at Pax Pharmacy and THEY apologized to me for experiencing that, and proceeded to fill my second pain prescription with kindness and understanding. I do hope that no other City of Hope patients will experience what I suddenly did at Pax, as it is hard enough actually finding a pharmacy that won't look at you sideways because you need to take pain medications. I know this pharmacy, being that it is a family run operation relies on it's reputation for doing business, but I as a human being care about MY reputation too. I am completely disappointed I was treated in such a judgemental way, turned away, and told to go to COH to get my scripts filled. The reason I give 2 stars instead of one, is because I can't forget how they used to treat me..but apparently times have changed now. It is still all the same personnel, in case that is a question. After an unexpected serious illness in our family we've had to purchase many medications that are very expensive and didn't have insurance coverage. The wonderful folks at Pax were not only able to help bring the cost down, they were super helpful, kind, courteous and even deliver the medication right to our door. It has been three months since our first prescription, and we've since filled at least fifteen more.
