The young women who was working at the seafood department was so helpful and pleasant, Annabelle. I had a lot of questions, as I rarely grill my seafood, I usually cook it at home in my oven or crockpot. She was very patient and informative. She helped me select the perfect seafood items for grilling, and doing a seafood boil. She even went as far as to suggest vegetables that would be a good complement with each item. I really appreciated her commitment to customer service. I'm so glad I ended up being there during her shift. That location is lucky to have her. The cookout was a huge success, I received so many compliments and everything was so good. Thank you Annabelle!!

Then another employee named Patty came over she wanted me to give my ID for 3 $25 visa gift cards. I had only my Chase card with me. I left my glasses and my pocketbook in my car. There were other people in my line waiting so I did not take the gift cards. I use a cane and take more time than most to get to my car and back again to the store . I asked a few people about needing my ID they wondered if rules had changed. I called another Big Y and was told an ID was not needed for this amount. Today is 11/24/2023.

10 West Market - formerly the site of the Paxton Police Department, is this small-sized business…read morewith BIG, positive ++++ customer relations !! I've seen managers arrive 'n go, as often is the case in busybusybusy places such as this, but that is getting ahead of the story. 10 West Specialty Market is, first and foremost, a charming spot on your 'to-do list", that local spot that boasts of some of the freshest, tastiest, cleanest businesses in town. Not e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g shall be found here: a 7-11 it is not (nothing against 7-11s personally!) but this is the kind of place where you'll not find like Ho-Hos, Twinkies, Dentyne, packets of Aleve, etc etc etc. To further delineate between "us" and "them", one vital thing you should know about 10 West is ... is that they're believers in the HOMEMADE first. If that should fail to work with bringing you your favorite items, I am sure that things could be arranged for you sure enough! This "Mom "n Pop" identity within 10 West's Marketing Plan reminds me of nearby Vermont, that bastion of anti-Walmart (et al) corporate giants, that State that declares the Sam's Wholesale, etc etc as being persona non grata 365/7/24. (Not sure if Team Sanders has a solid legal basis for this approach ... seeing that Walmart is the largest corporation in the WORLD and no doubt hires Americans aplenty!). Just the same, 10 West has plenty going for it - which is PROOF that not only are bosses truly paying close attention but also, the KEY here is followed up by the central question - the question being, "Paying close attention to what?" Here is where ANY business located in rural areas in any part of rural America is keenly advised to have a winning 'heads up' approach in any business they've launched themselves. Ever watch shows like 'Kitchen Nightmares', etc etc etc. Yes sir-eee, Bob !! Notice how methodically Chef Ramsay ATTACKS problems head on? One solid prospect about this Market is already evident: already established and for the most part thriving ... I would imagine the next level to be attained is - "How do we keep our success continuing without interruption? How to insure it on that same continuous basis?" Exactly, boys & girls. EXACTLY. 1st, one if not thee most important of all aspects of business is how well do clients get treated by Staff the moment they arrive in your front door. I have been coming to Paxton for almost a decade and a half, and full well know that without question - even at their worst of days, 10 West Market makes a kindly greeting a specialty. You'll feel like fam alright, which is - for them at least - par for the course. Take a look around and quickly enough, you'll spot the #1 reason why you and so many faithfuls know exactly what you've come for ....quality. BEEF is PRIME - and ditto-ditto for the Salmon ... the Shrimps ... the Steaks. Chops the size of small BRICKS. Oh yeah, baby! The relatively small size of the display cases, not crammed with items yet also not sparsely 'populated' either as well. Well thought out, certainly. You shall find sausages of numerous kinds - garlic, hot, Chinese, regular - its all there. Bring along grass fed hamburger, the foot-longs, the various specialty salads ... and, of course, the deli meats/cheeses (that I avoid personally) and there we have it, you have the main players per se. Other refrigerators offer select sodas, quinine water/seltzers, milk & 1/2 & 1/2 - got that covered. Chips, etc. Donuts and cookies and pies ......WORD. Remember - if 10 West can either home make it themselves, they will ..if not, they'll order off the back of a truck. Not rocket science, no ... but all the same, its this devotion to helping local artisans say... making donuts instead of going the Krispy Kreme route. This devotion and loyalty makes every bit of difference, and easily explains the steady stream of customers who, without fail, march right in, get their favs and soon enough are on their way? For sure, you'll pay more but then again, remember what I mention next ... Take, for instance, my favorite chain store that sells gasoline just outside - its WAWAs, a store I frequent down South that has an extremely busy client base and often long lines to go with it. But there is also a very, very important aspect of doing business with the public that WaWa's most definitely requires improving too. I speak completely truthfully here. In less than 12 months, I found no FEWER than 6 half gals of milk waaaaaay beyond their current expiration dates. Each time I made mention of it, and each time next was the same exact story. NOTHING improving ='s time to get moving on! BE CAREFUL, people! In the here and now, I say 10 West Specialty Food Market in Paxton, MA is YOUR go-to market as well. Swing along and check things out! What do we have to lose? Precisely! - Doc

Somewhat smaller location when compared to a city; expected with location. Amazing what they fit into location (even has a mini hot bar and olive bar, well kind of). Little make your own pizza section is nifty. Only issue I ever had was 1 moldy items; impressive considering 200+ times i've been over years (was a pre-made calzone, must of been packed hot). Details: Produce: Often fair to good; no real issues other then missing less-common items at times ie; (cilantro, small bell peppers, etc). Veggies are decent and no real complaints. Fruit is also fair to good; sometimes avocados, tomatoes and grapes can be more B quality do to green-packing. Apples are usually excellent with local orchards. Cherries in summer are always fantastic. Meats; typically well stocked; will be outages/missing items at busy times. Pork is is very affordable and often a bargain, overall ok meat. Steak/beef is outrageous (but it is everywhere now) and quality is hit or miss, not alot of stock / selection. Chicken: mostly ok, good selection, usually in stock. hotDogs, hams, bacon, sausage: always fully stocked and good Turkey; never in stock (sad face) Coffee, drinks, almost always well stocked; great selection. Bread isle is probably the worse (still not awful); often un-stocked or missing items; tends to be the more messy isle. Pricing is always moderate range; average full cart ranges at 200-250 range if I am not paying attention. Some price shenanigans; but not awful (they all do it). (My seltzer and coffee beans seem to be hitting inflation like crazy) Staff; always friendly. Lines; not bad, no more than 5mins usually. Covid lockdowns; pretty much gone; no stupid isle markers / arrows, dirty looks or other forced mask mandates. People acting like humans again (always a good thing).

Stop and Shop has a rating system for their store - A, B and C levels. The one in Lincoln Plaza,…read morenow gone, was a C level store. Everyone knows why. The one in Westboro was A level. Again, no surprise. Same deal here. The Shrewsbury TJ's is disgusting, yet the one in Framingham is great (and has wine, but that's not the important diffentiator since Total Wine was wise in opening a store right next to the TJ's in Shrewsbury). I shop both regularly, but will now be avoiding the one in Shrewsbury. It's just gross, rat traps as you walk along the sidewalk is a start. Sure, it's great that they are trapping them, but they don't go where there isn't food laying around to eat. Also gross is buying fresh produce only to find out two days later it's moldy/wilted. What in the world do they do to this stuff to have it go bad a week before date?! I suspect poor refridgeration in store or on way to store. The chickens - sometimes they'll have a date 2 weeks out, you open them the next freak'n day and they smell spoiled. It's not good. Speaking of dates, be careful - they don't rotate the shelves. They think they are clever by not doing so since people are used to reaching behind for fresher produce. I've learned to actually look at a few and pick the freshest. One time I reached behind for a later date and the dude who has been there a long time (looks like the Pitbull character from Fraiser) actually had the ballzarios to comment about it to me, all annoyed that I did that. HA! Then I saw him go back to SLAMMING bags of chips into the shelf, stuffing them in tight and smashing the shiznit out of them. Seems common, all the chips and crackers from this place a smashed up inside the bag. They are rearranging the store with hopes of it getting better I guess? All their bread is previously frozen too, hence it gets moldy REALLY fast. But, yeah, it's the lack of preservatives, right.
