Bonfire night 6/27/26 What was a pretty good night turned into chaos, when a worker (child) decided to be impatient, and delfated the bounce house while there were still kids on it. Children screaming, parents running. I am highly disgusted. I frequent this place pretty frequently. We will not be returning. Please save the "we will review footage" for someone else. I have been a regular customer of the "Beef Box" for well over a year now and I am very happy with the quality of the beef. They ship the beef box all the way to my home in Rhode Island and they even through in a few "freebies". I feel fortunate that I can support a local family farm with compassionate-towards-animals farming practices. I am one of those meat-eaters who wishes she was a vegan. This place is charming. They have everything you need for a great afternoon. We have been there multiple times to see bands. The food is what you would expect from a mom and pop. They do a good job trying to have a good variety. They have lots of drink options as well. The farm itself has animals to see and a great kids area with a big bounce pad and playground. Really nicely curated meats that they bring to local farmers markets in winter and summer. The pork shoulder is particularly good!

My first time at the farm, we ordered burgers and ice cream. The burgers were delicious, and the staff were super friendly. The owner stopped by us while we were ordering to say hello to my daughter, and she was appreciative of our visit. The best part is that the farm is dog-friendly, next time we will bring our golden to experience the nice atmosphere of the farm. One thing I was sort of sad about, I went to pet a golden that was there and I know the rule you ask before you pet and I didn't. The owner was very upset with me. Much like others who have reviewed LHF, my main comments are about the food and wait times. We grabbed some drinks at the counter in the barn and asked how to order food. The person behind the counter said that there are QR codes on the table and to place the order online or order at the window next to the drinks. She said they would bring food to the table if we order online. Our mistake was ordering online instead of at the window. The app states that wait time could be up to 90 minutes, but because we ordered things that are basically already made -- chili, a salad and a burger --- we thought there was no way it would take 90 minutes. Welp, it took MORE than 90 minutes and when the food did arrive the burger wasn't included. The waitperson seemed confused as if we hadn't ordered anything else, but did return 5 minutes later with the burger. The salad was the size of a side salad at McDonalds, with a few crumbles of chicken on it for $17. Burger came with a side of fries, nothing to write home about and also in the $17 range. Chili was good. Just the food came to $60... SIX ZERO. Cute farm, saw a camel and an ox or bull (I dunno, it had long horns. Longhorn bull?) Lots of picnic tables outside, and there was live music the day we went. I'd go for the atmosphere and fresh air but NOT the food unless you're killing 2 hours and aren't hungry and you have a $100 bill burning a hole in your pocket. read more

The meat is superior to anything you can get in a grocery store, and I love supporting this local farm vs. consuming meat from factory farms. I am excited to try more products. Their subscribe and save program is wonderful and very flexible. I am glad I can pick what I want delivered vs the traditional CSA share method many farms use. What an excellent local business. Really wanted to like this place, pulling in the views are amazing. But that is where the good ended. 9.00 domestic draft beers a bit pricey. But the huge elephant in the room is the food and service times. You order from your table, the QR code brings up the menu and tells the staff where to bring the food. That's ok, but the menu is tiny and the prices outrageous. $17.00 for a tiny burger and fries. And forget about getting the salad with chicken. A few tiny little pieces of ground dark meat. It might be ok is the food was great but it was not even good. They sell local meat here so you would think it would be amazing, but the burger was fair at best. Kinda one step above a fast food restaurant. And take a look at the toppings that came on my 17.00 burger. And as others have said it took over and hour and a half to get the food. There was quite a few people here, but more not eating than eating and we probably only saw two other orders brought out during our agonizingly long wait. Might go back for a beer again, but will either eat before or after. read more

Absolutely love this place! We go there all year around and it is lovely. Great place for the kids too as they have quite their own mini zoo with lots of interesting animals and birds. Their products are fresh and delicious. read more

This could be something great but it just is not. We went because people were raving about it, but quickly realized it was just a money "pit." Staff were cold, rude and disregarding. Nothing really to do for kids, they had an old janky bounce house that I would not allow my kid on as it did not look safe, was dirty and no staff members around overseeing the activity. We were told rudely that if we didn't want to pay for our kid to go on the bounce house (not the case at all) there was a playground on the other side. The playground consisted of discarded toys and tires from the 50s. Food lines were long and they were sold out of almost everything only a few hours after opening. Alcohol and food prices are high, food lacked in flavor. Overall it appears they just don't care about customer satisfaction, it's a shame because it could be a great spot. read more

Lilac farms subscription service is 5/5. The food quality is amazing also. The chicken is 1000x better than the supermarket. Its a noticeable difference. The steaks and meats are also quality as can be. Baby back ribs are super big and juicy. Its very easy to order and it comes very quickly. Couldnt be happier finding a local farm in Mass to use. Love this place. I order all of my meat from here and they drop it off at my door and it's always such high-quality and the prices are comparable to what I would get at the grocery store. During summer, I also come here for some of their events. They have a bar that always has really good service, and the foods really good but the service for the food isn't as quick. But they have a stage where they have live music a lot and you can walk around and visit all the animals and it's super cute. read more

Slow slow slow. It isn't even busy here and we have waited over an hour for a pizza and fries. Ridiculous.

We absolutely love eating at the farm! The atmosphere is wonderful and they are continually making upgrades for a more enjoyable experience. Today was pretty chilly out but we were able to eat comfortably in the barn with heat. The foods is so good! Especially the chili. Lots of local beer options on draft. Wish they had cider on draft too though. Only complaint was from my husband who said he would prefer a regular bun as opposed to a sub roll for his pulled pork sandwich. read more

This review is for the kitchen/food service. I wanted to really like this place and come back again but now I don't think I will. Vibes were great with it being dog friendly, having a great bar, live music, and animals to see. We visited on mother's day so we understand that food can take longer than usual; however, it took more than an hour and a half for us to get a burger and a sandwich. That's not OK. The place was busy but not outrageously packed. More experienced kitchens would not have been so behind. They seriously need to do better with their kitchen. Other tables were hangry as well and upset about how long it was taking to get food, especially food that shouldn't take too long. Were pizzas making them behind? Not sure, but it took forever. Typical of what passes for a farm these days in Massachusetts, this entity is more focused on being touristy than providing affordable food for people to eat. Stopped by and dIdn't buy anything because it was all so expensive. They have an also overpriced restaurant, a food truck was there with few prices listed, and they have cabins it looks like you can rent. For all this you get some nice views, portable toilets, and a few animals to look at, mainly birds (emus, ostriches). I was not impressed. read more

I've been ordering from Lilac Hedge farm the last few weeks since this crazy coronavirus thing has been going on. I'm honestly so glad I found such great quality food that can be delivered right to my door! Thank god they have this option now since the farmers markets aren't open and there are constantly lines at the grocery stores near me. I've tried almost everything haha... the ground turkey, ground pork, sausages, fish, veggies, chicken breasts, turkey legs and everything has far exceeded my expectations in regards to taste and freshness. One thing I should note as I saw a negative review below- the farm prices are for aprox weights. Sometimes they send a little more of an item (that is charged by the pound) so you will pay a little more. This could be confusing if someone missed that detail on the website. I suspect this is because they are trying to adapt and get food out as quickly as possible in this new "coronavirus environment." Overall, Lilac Hedge Farm is 5 stars on quality, taste, and delivery! Sunday my family, friends and I went to lilac hedge farm. It was my first time there. They had a bouncy house that day and it was deflated because it was the end of the day. My son ran down and went on it (4 years old) I was standing right there with him and this woman, come to find out was the general manager, said "If you don't get him off right now I will physically remove him myself". I was caught off guard and asked if it was ok if I walked on it to get him, so I did. I said to her "If you ever say you're going to put your hands on my son again there will be a problem". I think any mother out there, if some stranger says they are going to "physically" remove your child with no warning before that would feel the same. She proceeded to say I could leave the property, which I was completely fine with. I walked over to my husband and our other friends to tell them what happened and this "general manager", while following me, proceeded to lie and say she warned me before she said that. Warning or not, who would say they're going to put their hands on a child. My word against hers, I get that , but she never did warn me. Then my friend went over to her and asked her to give him a break and she said "It's not about him it's about what she said". Well if it was about what I said and not my son I would never have said anything to her in the first place. Also if she had handled it like a professional general manager I also would not have said anything to her. After escorting us to the exit, which is a little extreme, she's the one who threatened my son, I asked to talk to the owner without her present. I told him exactly what happened and he didn't care at all that his general manager just threatened to put her hands on a four year old. When my husband proceeded to tell him that my son has some special needs and it's hard to communicate with him he couldn't have cared less what we were saying. I get it, you want to stick up for your employees, but to look at us like we were the problem, when she is the reason this all started, is not right. If she had approached me and asked me like a professional " Hey he's not supposed to be on that, do you mind going to get him" not " If you don't get him off right now I will physically remove him myself". And before anyone says he shouldn't have been on it, while I was talking to the owner about 5 other kids were doing the same thing my 4 year old was just doing. When I brought that to his attention he did nothing and I didn't see the general manager go down and threaten the other parents of those children. Oh ya and I forgot, she said the "f" word in front of all of our young children. Honestly I hate to even write a post like this because it's hard to find places to bring three young kids especially my 4 year old and before this mess I said all day what a great place it was. But if you want the general manager to threaten your child I suggest not supporting a business like this because unfortunately my family and I will never be back. I did talk to the owner again since this incident and all I wanted was for him to acknowledge how his employee acted was wrong. Instead, after I recalled the incident he started with, "We reviewed your bar tab, looked at our videos to watch you throughout the day with your kids and we spoke to the Rutland PD". I don't know if he was trying to intimidate me into thinking I was the cause of this mess but I had two charges on my credit card in the almost 4 hours I was there (group of 6 adults) and my kids are around me at all times no matter where I am. Maybe if as an owner he could have taken some sort of responsibility for this we wouldn't be here but it's completely wrong and needs to be addressed. read more

Went to a local farmers market and stopped by their stand,very nice guy warmly said hello and made some nice banter,noticed they sold chorizo,among other meats,almost bought the sausage,but chorizo won out,have a ton of peppers,onions and red potatoes that will be cooked up this weekend..very happy with purchase,but noticed I was charged twice,no biggie,looked up their website to contact them and poke around to check them out,see the farm and about them and one,noticed my price I paid was a lot less than what is normally asked,and two they recently had a pretty bad fire..I found a go fund me page to help them,knowing that,I don't care about the charge anymore,I hope it helps..being a single mother,I struggle with making enough to cover my bills,but knowing where my food comes from and how it's being raised and sacrificed for me,and supporting hard working farmers is what I try to do when I have a little extra,so I hope my little extra helps. read more

I found Lilac Hedge farm fresh eggs at a winter farmer's market and then slowly tried their prepared meals. Loved the pulled pork and my husband loved the chicken pot pie. With the markets closed for the season, I started ordering delivery and the chicken has so much more flavor than typical grocery store chain. A month or so ago Lilac Hedge Farms stand in Boston Public Market started to sell lunch wraps. I bought a chicken wrap but the chicken had a tough, rubbery skin that made it inedible. I left a comment on their website but never heard back. On Friday my wife bought a dozen eggs. The first 2 eggs I cracked were rotten - the first time I had ever experienced rotten eggs, and I am over 40 - so we dumped the whole carton. read more
