On the downside, Market Basket can get very busy. Navigating the aisles can be challenging, and there can still be lines at the registers on the weekends even when all of them are open. The parking lot can be just as crowded. Sometimes necessary to park in the Home Depot lot because the Market Basket lot is completely full. Overall, though, Market Basket offers good prices, a solid selection, fresh produce, and plenty of staffed checkout lanes. A solid 4 stars.

I once bought an artichoke there for $4.99 it couldn't be cut with a knife because it was so tough and the entire thing had to be thrown away after boiling for longer than usual to be able to cut through it, but I was unsuccessful. It was just too tough. In my opinion, their apples are old and most likely in the freezer for more than a year because when you squeeze them, they're on the soft side and wrinkly. grapes are soft. They're often out of broccoli, with no exception when you buy a basket of strawberries buried in the center are moldy ones. I bought shredded chicken that was expensive but when I got home underneath the very thin top layer of shredded chicken were tough chunks. If I wanted to shred my own, I would've bought chicken and shredded them and wouldn't have paid high price for what they called shredded chicken, but it was not shredded chicken. I've often seen old expired food. And besides all that you pay more at Hannaford than you do it any of the other grocery stores in the area. Hannaford is the worst.

Chicken: mostly ok, good selection, usually in stock. hotDogs, hams, bacon, sausage: always fully stocked and good Turkey; never in stock (sad face) Coffee, drinks, almost always well stocked; great selection. Bread isle is probably the worse (still not awful); often un-stocked or missing items; tends to be the more messy isle. Pricing is always moderate range; average full cart ranges at 200-250 range if I am not paying attention. Some price shenanigans; but not awful (they all do it). (My seltzer and coffee beans seem to be hitting inflation like crazy) Staff; always friendly. Lines; not bad, no more than 5mins usually. Covid lockdowns; pretty much gone; no stupid isle markers / arrows, dirty looks or other forced mask mandates. People acting like humans again (always a good thing).

I think I had an out of body experience today like - maybe - I'll explain... I had a particularly…read morestressful morning - very early and I deeply needed to decompress. I had to drive through petersham in my travels- not a typical route or regular drive but alas I actually passed this store, noticing the OPEN flag , I slammed a U turn to get a sharply needed caffeine boost and found myself in the most delightful spot in a seemingly desolate places when I say I walked in the door and it felt like - a waiting room to heaven door opened as a really beautifully laid out l, store, restaurant, local craft gallery and mini grocery market was laid out instantly as I floated in here. I took as many photos as a Middle Aged woman is permitted to take without looking like a fool - see the photos- while I waited for my turkey club sandwich on French (highly recommend) and loved every second of it. Ok so we have wonderful local and specialty wines beer, cheeses , pantry items , extremely micro vendors of local sauces, dressings, drinks and a lot more in the refrigerators and a ton of CUTE and adorable hand made functional art and crafts - including these "blind dates with a book" that instant stole my heart (see pics) and made me want to move down the road from this place. Sandwich was lovely exactly what you'd expect from a cute country store and deli but just elevated - and welcomed very much to my stressed and dulled palette To top off off I had probably the best service ever at the counter - like truly inspired me to have a better day every though I have to say it didn't get much better but I can say with confidence my visit to petersham country store was the highlight of my day and I cannot wait to come back and bring a friend for a relaxing morning of books, shopping and coffee here .
