They have seven courts and offer open play. First thing that caught my attention was how fast and lack of bounce the balls were traveling down the court. The court concrete is polished smooth and using a Selkirk type of ball with a power paddle, those balls are traveling fast! Took a bunch of plays to get use to the speed and bounce of the ball. The open play isn't divided to play levels so you can be in a high level or low level game randomly, can be intimidating for newbies. This place is definitely a good pay play place to try. The owner Leslie was very nice and helpful to get me started with signing the wavier and into playing.

Their memberships allow for the member to have a monthly guest pass which is clutch, their rentals and gear are solid. The staff is friendly and laidback, and so is the atmosphere and crowd itself. I've been to a couple of Hangar 18 locations (Hawthorne, Long Beach) and so far they are all decent, and held optimal locations with decent parking. I'll continue returning here to climb, and checking out the other remaining locations I haven't yet, as well. :)

The designated pickleball courts are really nice. I always feel like it was a treat every time my friends were able to reserve those courts. The tennis courts with the pickleball lines can be confusing the first time you hit on it. The tennis lines are white and the pickleball lines are black. You get used to it after a bit. But the lights here are horrible. You don't even have to hit the ball too high and the ball will get lost in the lights. And the parking here is also horrible. If you get here around 5:30-6PM, (especially if it's soccer season) good luck finding parking. People just make their own parking spots along the red zone (I'm also guilty of this). But with all that said, I'll definitely join a group session again. Especially since it's summer right now and the sun is staying out longer. My girls had never played on turf before, and they enjoyed the experience. NOTE: this location only has artificial turf fields. A big advantage is that you can play under the lights and in the rain, the complex has around 6 full size fields - from what I could tell, maybe more? Because the space is being maximized, the fields feel like they are on top of one another. This results in frequent stops because balls from other games end up on your field. Because the space between fields is limited, you also end up sitting side-by-side with people rooting for the game taking place on the field next to yours. It just feels odd. Plus, the width of the playing fields are unique (smaller), which our girls were not prepared for, corner kicks are much closer, which can be a blessing or a curse. Parking can also be a challenge, you will likely use the Torrance court house parking lot which is just across the street. OK, with my complaints behind me, this is a great facility! Very well cared for, super clean, and state-of-the-art artificial turf. I get that the city is working with the property that they were given, and doing everything to maximize the space, but I wanted to convey every aspect, overall this complex is a blessing and greatly appreciated by soccer fans and players. You have the option to bring your own bat or use one of theirs. You can purchase tokens for batting rounds or you can purchase time and play until your time it up. I highly recommend reserving if you have a group as their rule is the share batting cages between rounds with others waiting. It was a fun environment, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and welcoming. The people there to play were also welcoming and courteous which made a pleasant overall experience!
