I'm a little confused why they have a "people love us on yelp" sticker when Yelp doesn't have good ratings. Anyway I came in asking for eyebrow shaping/threading. It's $10 except for Tuesdays and another day which costs you $8. I didn't check their reviews or for any referrals for names of threaders, but i should've. I was seated on the farthest left chair on the first row (when you enter). There was an aunty who was doing the 2 women next to me, and the way she handled them, I was feeling excited. She asked them what they wanted, she took her time to look at both eyes before starting, etc. I thought I'd be next on her task, but another younger skinny girl came from the back and attended to me. First, she didn't sanitize her hands before starting, second she told me to lay back and was immediately about to start on my right eye without asking about what I want or seeing both eyes first so she knows how to even out. I had to assert myself and say, I would need a shaping because my left eye is thicker than right. She just said "okay okay", still not really looking at it. While doing my eyebrows, she kept talking to girl at cash register, and the most disgusting thing happened, where I felt a droplet of spit on my face. I was so enraged within myself, but just wanted to focus on getting my brows done well. I felt the thread tug on my left eyelashes. I told her I don't want the eyes brows angled, rather softer rounded. After finishing, I saw my brows were definitely not soft rounded arch rather sharp angle, what I asked not to have. There were few spots where hairs were not evenly pulled, but just pointed out and she took them out. I also pointed out that my eyebrows look shorter, especially on left side compared to right, but she blamed that my eyebrows were like this. I know they weren't because i took many photos of my eyebrows before attending and measured the length. In fact, my left eyebrows had more hair growth on the ends than my right eye. Even when we confirmed that my left eyebrow was thicker than right so I'm okay to thin the left to make it similar to right, now my left is thinner than right... the ends of my brows as well are so thin compared to rest of eyebrows which makes it more sharply angled. I've attached photos. Anyway, it's not the worst eyebrows I've had, but just few levels up. The experience though, was one of the worst I had. Unfortunately this is the closest eyebrow place to us, so no doubt i'll be forced to visit if i'm in a pinch in time like this day I visited. Worst service ever. People hired here are not at all trained professionals, I feel someone just taught them how to do threading and waxing and they are trying their hand. Whenever I get eyebrows done they ask me not to stretch a lot and I end up getting cuts, and then they very conveniently say your skin is very soft! I don't know how thry do it but growth comes back the third day, it's like they don't pull hair from roots. It's basic sense to clean apply clean lotion etc after threading.. no they never do it, you have to ask for you and they will hand you a tissue n pump some lotion for you to do it yourself! For waxing, i would never go back here ever. 2nd time thry burnt my skin. They are so untrained, they don't stretch while pulling the strips, they use 1 strips for both arms, so cheap! And after wax you generally clean with a damp cloth and then apply some lotion. Noo they don't! They just put some lotion without cleaning the wax leaving you all sticky. Since I live really close to this place, I have been coming here since 2 years ago. Although I don't really get my eyebrows threaded that often, I usually come here if I ever do. The staff here are very friendly and always greeted me whenever I walk in. The wait is never too long and usually, I'll get a seat immediately as a walk in. I read a lot of reviews and I agree that it is a bit unsanitary-- the staff don't wash their hands before threading your brows nor do they use gloves. The thread can also be a bit dusty since it just sits there on the table. However I never had any issues with my face breaking out, but that is also because my skin doesn't really break out. I went a few days ago because my eyebrows were a bit uneven in length and one brow is also higher than the other brow. I grew out my eyebrows so that the lady can reshape it so that it is more even. I informed the lady about my eyebrow situation and she assured me that she can fix it. Although she made the eyebrows more even in length, one eyebrow is still higher than the other. Although it's pretty cheap getting your eyebrows threaded at this place, I think it's also time for me to tryout other places too. read more

Been coming here for a few years now, but today received less than great service and will no longer be returning. Went for an eyebrow threading and had to go home and tweeze them myself. The technician spent likely less than two minutes on my eyebrows before she turned to tend to the man in the chair next to me. I was in dire need of a facial and it was my first time trying their facial. There were more red flags than plus points. 1. zero hygiene- the lady used an old, hard towel which wasnt very pleasant. 2. She had zero knowledge of skincare techniques and wasnt gentle with the skin. 3. Didnt clean the checks area only used extractor on forehead and nose. 4. Didnt clean the face properly .5 Her hands were as cold as ice. I had a bad experience with their waxing and after the facial experience I dont think I would ever want to go their. I've been coming here for years. Unfortunately, I went in on March 23, 2018 to get my eyebrows threaded per usual and the next day had a hideous breakout. I had no choice but to go see a dermatologist 3 days later because the itchiness and breakouts didn't get any better. My doctor told me I had a skin infection that ended up spreading to the rest of my face. The doctor believes it was probably due to unsanitary thread or even from someone NOT using gloves to thread or washing their hands prior (which they don't). Payal in Parisppany is reopening with added COVID-19 safety measures in place. I have been coming to this location for over 4 years since I moved to the area - cuts, eyebrows, facials, waxing, color, I've gotten all my services here. I get tons of compliments on my style and eyebrows, but most importantly,*I* love my look.The staff are talented, and I've had no issues with errors, or dissatisfaction. I've seen some classy clients there, and some embarrassing ones, but each was treated professionally and politely. If you are growing out your eyebrows and just want them shaped and strays cleaned, I would not recommend this place. I specifically said "I don't want them thinner, I just want to clean up the stray hairs below my eyebrows and shape the top a little more." Of course my greatest fear of my eyebrows coming out too thin happened, and I'm back to square one with my brows. They are the thinnest they have been in a long time (think sharpie marker thin). I opt for threading because it's usually more meticulous, but she did not get all the obvious strays and did not thread the sides of my brows either, leaving it messy. She also did not cut the long strands. Finally, I have had many experiences with threading and this by far has been the most painful one. At the end, she did not offer lotion or anything to help with the pain/redness like in the other places I've visited nor did she clean off my face. The only reason I am giving an additional star is because my friend who has thicker brows also got hers done from another worker and said she liked her brows. She mentioned that some of the workers are good and others are bad, so I think it's just about finding the right one or the luck of the draw. Finally, my eyebrows are more symmetrical, however, I wish they thought of long term because I was growing out my brows rather than making the thicker one identical to the thinner one. The full leg wax was till 4 inches below the leg line. It was at a biking shorts length. This was not published anywhere or disclosed in advance. On pointing out, I was told this is how they do it, and it doesn't matter how a "full leg wax" is defined elsewhere a.k.a worldwide - as waxing of the FULL legs, not till biking shorts length. I did not ask for a bikini wax, for I know the difference between bikini and full legs wax. They charged me an extra amount for waxing the remainder. I have been going here since 2007. I live about 35 minutes from this salon but it is worth the hike for me. For $6 - you get perfectly arched brows every time. I never had a brow sessions that wasn't great. And I have very difficult brows to worth with, due to my ethnicity. Threading is a great option because waxing is "pulling" at your skin, where threading is just plucking out the hairs. Over time, overly waxing will break down elasticity in your skin. OK I am in the beauty business so had to throw that in!! This place is clean, always friendly and I have never waited more than 5 minutes to hop into a chair. I almost always get compliments on on brows when meeting new people that notice such a thing. I have also gotten waxing done here(Bikini and Leg) and it is great. When I arrived, two girls were in the chairs and while I waited about 5 more women walked in. Surely a popular spot. However, I wasn't SO, so excited. What was the hype about? The lady pretty much got mad at me because I wasn't holding my eyebrows the right way I guess. She spent like 2 minutes doing it... and although my eyebrows felt smooth afterward, it was only about 4 days later that I had TONS of stray hairs. I wondered if they had just all been missed during my threading. For $7 it was alright and I may go back but the end result wasn't anything more special than what I accomplish myself by plucking. Woman at the counter should be dismissed from the business if they want to continue!! She has consistently been rude, argumentative, and asked for tip before payment was even made! I specifically asked for my eyebrows to only be cleaned up, and they were ripped apart, thinner than ever, seemed intentional! THE only place I get my eyebrows threaded when I come home. It's always consistently good, no matter who I get. They recently renovated and upped their prices (to $6 or $7 I don't remember) but I'm not sure why... most people who go there only go for threading and don't "take advantage" of their other salon services. Sometimes the ladies can be a bit rude, hence only four stars. I definitely recommend this place, everyone knows about it as the place to go for great eyebrows. Wish I can give a negative rating. In the past I posted my experience about waxing the owner didn't have the courtesy to find out what happened. So I sticked to other simple services like eyebrows upper lips once a year facial. So this weekend I went there for a regular eyebrow upper lip and a facial. Guess what I came back with a face full of irritation and felt like my face was kept in an oven. The lady who did my upper lips pulled off my skin and didn't tell me anything though I felt so much of burning sensation. After that she knows she pulled out my skin but didn't offer me any ice packs anything but went on to do facial. Look at the pics they will speak for themselves. She was so rough that it peeled the skin above my eyes around my lips. Can you tell that to her don't even dare to do that bcos u know what kinda drama happens after this. This was my go-to place for years because they did a nice job. However, for the past several months I've noticed they leave behind stray hairs, and when I pointed it out, they say they don't want to make it too thin. But they're content leaving your eyebrows looking uneven, and worse, asymmetrical. I recently had my threading done elsewhere outside of this area and it was perfect, with no corrections needed. I came back here a few weeks later and went through the same thing as I have consistently encountered here- she tried to leave behind strays that were short because they were clearly recently cleaned up. It took three times pointing it out to get my eyebrows looking cleaned up and symmetrical. I also noticed she used her mouth to hold the thread, and did not wash or sanitize her hands. Fabulous experience with my son with has autism. I was recommended by many people to go to Payal for threading. I was turned down by three different places that would hardly attempt to thread my sons eyebrows. Bhavani did an amazing job. She was so warm, friendly, and patient with him and in return he listened to her. He allowed her to do it! At the end she said to him "We are going to be best friends." I cant recommend them enough!
