College Funding Advisors

If ever approached by an insurance agent offering to serve as your "college advisor," in any…read morecapacity, you would be well advised to run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. That's because the agent is motivated overwhelmingly by commission earnings, as opposed to your best interests. If you have any doubt about that, just search online for "insurance agents college funding" or similar phrase, which will point you to articles like this one, in Money magazine: https://money.com/college-aid-dont-take-the-bait/ (which profiles the group that Ron Adams joined). Ron Adams could be described as highly intelligent, with many talents. One of those, acting (his major hobby, judging from what he displayed around his office), enabled him to be quite effective at pretending to have the interests of others at heart when in fact he did not. Ron could also be fairly described as an ultra-narcissistic egomaniac and, alas, shamelessly unethical. He demonstrated no qualms whatsoever about breaking an agreement, as long as he thought he could get away with it. Large, physically imposing people are sometimes "gentle giants." Sometimes they are bullies. In my interaction with Ron, his behavior definitely put him in the second category. For documentation from others on his way of treating people, see the one-star reviews here by Chris R. in Rocklin, Ben H. in Sacramento and Bob A. in El Dorado Hills, as well as the "unrecommended" reviews (from the link near the bottom of the profile page) by Daniel T. in Placerville and B.B. in Elk Grove. The book (more of a pamphlet) Ron claims on the profile here (in the "about the business" section) to have authored is actually a PLR (private label rights) publication prepared by a hustler named Brian Kay (described in the Money magazine article linked to above), who for a fee allows his members to claim authorship, with their name on the cover. Granted, by all appearances, Ron made a good bit of money. And he reveled in that material success. But he built his professional legacy leveraging false piety and pretense, while stepping ruthlessly on others when he thought it served his own selfish purposes. If that qualifies as "finishing well," then yes, Ron, you finished well.

Be careful not to waste your time with this shady clown if you are looking for a college planner. I…read moreattended one of his seminars In January 2019. During his presentation he did provide basic information on what to look out for when selecting and applying to a college. He indicated his company could provide various types of support including career and college selection services, college essay writing support, detailed scholarship information, acceptance info for specific colleges, finance strategies, and more. At the end of the session I signed up for one of the free follow up 90-minute meetings with Ron to learn more about these services. When I arrived at his office, he immediately indicated that we could not meet because my wife was not present and proceeded to very rudely walk me out of his office. It was confusing to me on why my wife would need to be present to review the offerings of his company. It seemed odd on how adamant he was regarding this, indicating that it was a question of "ethics" more than once. I tried one last time to explain to him that I had driven an hour to get there and my intent was to discuss his company college planning offerings in detail. My wife not being present should not have been a showstopper for this type of discussion. He disagreed and shooed my out the door. Apparently, Ron had an ulterior motive for this follow-up meeting which I was unaware of. As I drove away from his dingy storefront office, it occurred to me why he wanted my wife to be present. I recalled reading Ron also sells life insurance and . then it became obvious. Ron does not pedal college support services. This is just a front. Ron wants to sell you on restructuring your investments into a life insurance policy provided by him with the guise of putting you in a better position when applying for college financial support. He is not interested in providing any college planning services, at least not until you have committed to a financial "re-positioning" of your assets which no doubt will benefit him. Be aware of this before engaging with this jerk or you will end up wasting your time as I did.

I emailed back and forth with Susan at his office who easily scheduled my Husband and I some time to meet with Ben that easily fit in with our schedule. Upon arriving at the office we immediately felt welcomed by Susan and their nice reception area. A few minutes later we met with Ben who answered all our questions about investing with ease, and made us feel confident in his abilities. My Husband and I don't have money by any stretch of the imagination, but Ben made us feel just as important as if we did. I had never invested in anything before (my parents are very old school so that's how I grew up to think about money) but Ben made me very comfortable and confident in his abilities with investments and predicting the market, as well as with Edward Jones as a company. I definitely left with a lot more knowledge than when I came in! I will keep coming back to Ben Bolton's office and recommend him to any friends or family who are interested in investments, retirement funds, savings, etc. Thanks Ben and Susan!

He was rude, entitled, dismissive and made it clear that unless the case is over million-dollar claims or high-debt cases it "wasn't worth his time." He consistently talked over me and refused to listen to the specific statutory violations I was trying to explain. For an attorney in practice since the 90's and who claims to handle high-value litigation, the firm has no website, no BBB accreditation, and zero professional polish. If you want an attorney who listens, treats clients with respect, actually values the law and makes you feel confident your case is taken seriously regardless of the value, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

I provided him with materials about my defense, a video, photographs, and a lengthy statement from which he could answer the questions on the lawsuit. I later found out that he merely submitted what I gave him. He did submit my response to the appropriate court and individuals involved. However he didn't write it anything more than I submitted to him and do it correctly and I receive notice from the the opposing Atty that my response was not adequate and that if I did not provide them with one which met the legal requirements and that I would lose the case. Fortunately my homeowners insurance attorney took over and submitted a legally acceptable response.. Mr. Garcia offered to secure a trust necessary in my case and offered it at additional expense of $1600. Given that the work he did for me was not accepted I do not choose to use him again. Mr. Garcia is charming and presents as caring, but as far as submitting legal documents in the state of Nevada, he is not competent. Even when told that the documents he submitted on my behalf were not accepted, he did not offer me any financial compensation for the fee I paid him.
