After doing a bit of research of the various private owned and big box computer repair places I went to PC Tech and Computer Repair Center after speaking with their manager and getting what I felt at the time was fair price comparatively to the other stores to fix my desktop replacement laptop. Unfortunately this led to subsequent visits to fix errors their repairs caused. Which gets to my next point, the work in many ways speaks for itself, CHEAP. Now keep in mind, cheap is not always a bad thing, but sometimes you really do get what you pay for. My computer got up and running and working well but one thing about my 3-4 various visits to this place has taught me is that: 1) they have an unfair and rather unscrupulous way of jacking up the price from what is initially quoted and agreed upon for payment. 2) there is a distinct lack of attention to detail that might cause you other problems with your computer like they did mine. For instance I originally brought my computer to be fixed for an electrical issue. Originally it was under $100 dollars which I felt was more than far. When I received my computer it appeared to be working back to normal and I was happy with the work. That is until I noticed now some of my keys were sticking and my space bar buttons would not work, issues that have never occurred prior. I took it back immediately and to my surprise was told I may need to pay more to fix it. I firmly but politely stood my ground that since the work had been done fairly recent and was guaranteed they should be responsible in fixing this issue since more than likely it may have been caused by their work. Low and behold after taking off the outer casing of my computer they found they had misplaced some keys and agreed not to charge me. Everyone makes mistakes so I figured no harm no foul. Later I take my computer home and find out that the electrical problem they "fixed" still had some minor issues but not wanting to deal with anymore hassle or time out of my day I let it slide. Which honestly I realized was my mistake and I should have said something then because it would be a mistake that would come to charge me later. Down the road after that last visit I had an issue that needed my computer to be updated to a new OS. I brought it there to be fixed and this is the final straws that made me frustrated with this place. After agreeing on the procedure to fix my computer problem and set price I was told my computer would be fixed same day and at latest the next day. After not hearing from them the first day I waited until the next day which was a Sunday. I called but got no answer and was unable to stop in. The next day I came in and was told my price would now be closer to $150! Almost double what was initially quoted. The reason? To fix the electrical problem they didn't fix correctly the first time! Keep in mind, the computer in that regard had no issue and the OS issue was unrelated. I would honestly not have been mad at the price had I been consulted and made aware of what work would be done to fix it. In fact this little bit of transparency and customer consideration goes a long way and I would have gladly have paid the extra charge. But considering it was an issue they previously had overlooked and did not fix correctly it felt like adding insult to injury. Furthermore since they went ahead with the work and have many signs in shop stating their policy that if any work is done they charge for it, this felt more like a sly way of getting more juice out of the squeeze than due diligence, something they missed the first time around.. Although I was not satisfied with this treatment after speaking with the owner and getting a breakdown of the services I figured I would cut my losses and just pay for it and be done with it. THAT IS UNTIL I BROUGHT MY COMPUTER HOME and looooow and behold another issue occurred with my keyboard and electrical issue, issues that should have been fixed by them the first time. It was the same day so I brought it back immediately which I was then again told I would be charged for it being worked on to figure out why it was acting up. This time I put my foot down and told them no. It was their work it should be guaranteed and I honestly would not be spending another time. To their credit the ended up doing the work and fixing their errors. Also although I was frustrated at no point did tempers flare or the situation become confrontational or rude. It was done politely and amicably but that still does no excuse for the poor attention to detail and extra time effort and money that had to be spent to fix this series of issues. Overall while not the worst experience ever I am more cautious to trust them again unless completely necessary because another option does not exist. They are nice enough but their work is not reliable. read more

He gave me a very reasonable estimate to replace what we thought was a non functioning hard drive in my son's all-in-one ASUS desktop. I brought it in the following Tuesday. Eman called me as promised a couple of hours later to tell me that the hard drive was fine, but not being recognized by the motherboard. My HP computer had the fatal "blue screen of death." The diagnostic code I was able to obtain by using my own limited computer skills was: "biohd-8." The operating system was gone.
