I needed a new computer as my laptop was beginning to act a little strangely and had become undependable. After talking to the guys at PC Tech, I decided to have them build a computer for me. I needed tons of RAM and I thought I needed the i7 processor. They walked me through the whole build process, explaining in detail why I didn't need the more expensive i7 and what options were available that met my needs yet was still within my budget. They never talked down to me. My new computer was ready less than a week later and I'm writing this review on it. Set up was so easy, it's embarrassing. I was up and running in minutes. Despite being retired, I still work full time and my computer is my primary tool. I am extremely happy with their work and my new computer. I have worked with computers in one way or another, but mostly as an user, since 1982. I know good service when I see it. I know phonies when I see them. These folks have done other work for me in the six years since I moved back home to Tacoma. I have never been overcharged; their pricing is eminently fair for the work they do. They are fast and efficient. They have even done a couple of quick fixes with no charge. I would highly recommend this business to anyone who needs computer repair or help. These are honest people who offer great service for a fair price, something that is becoming more rare as time progesses. read more

Could not be happier with the help I received from PC Techs. After an unfortunate accident I brought my laptop in to see if it was possible to repair. They were very open with communication and pricing. They went out of their way to find the best price for parts rather than just ordering them from the first place available. The repair took some time but I never felt like with wait was long or that my work was being put behind others because they consistently kept me in the loop of where they were. Super friendly with excellent knowledge and understanding. Brought my gaming desktop in couldn't find out what was wrong. Turns out my SSD has gone out. They were very kind to tell me what my options were and tell me what they could and couldn't do. Unfortunately retrieving data from dead hardrives is incredibly specialized so they gave me information on companies that specialize in it instead of telling me it flat out couldn't be done. I appreciated the honesty and friendly help in solving this problem. Ultimately they replaced my SSD and got the newest operating systems on it. I came in about my computer's broken charger port today, and was absolutely appalled at this business. I was promptly greeted as I walked in to the cleanly store and asked what I was coming in for today. I showed him my problem and he asked how much I wanted done to it, as the case is also kind of broken around the port. I responded that it depended on price, and he quickly said that the charger port fix alone would be $150. I asked if I could just buy the part from them and he said no. Also that he wouldn't tell me what the actual name of the type of port was so I could find it easier. Now for reference, I am a computer engineering major who has worked on computers my whole life. I had a little difficulty finding the part online, and thought it would just be easier to bring it to someone and have them do it. I ended up bringing it to another tech (left unnamed so I don't appear like I'm simply a competitor) who sold me the part for $3.49 + tax and I wired then soldered it on myself. The fix took me about 15 minutes. I don't normally review places, however these guys' having a 4.5/5 just irks me. I'm sure these guys know what they're doing which is why they get a 2/5, but they clearly take advantage of people who don't. Don't pay their ridiculous prices, because $600/hr for simple computer repair is just wrong. Update: I almost want to lower down to one star because of the reply. In short, removing the motherboard on my computer would not have helped as the power jack in my laptop is designed to be wired to it, not directly soldered on like it is on some laptops. So either they don't base the price off the actual work that needs to go into fixing a problem (leaving their prices ridiculous) or they just had no idea what they were doing when they looked at my laptop (less ridiculous, more worrisome about their quality of service.) read more

Won't use again. When it comes to computer repair, simply repairing the computer isn't enough, a million places do that. Paid an extra $25 to rush service on a jack repair and took two weeks to complete. After Sony (or whoever) shipped out wrong part, I asked if it was possible to have rush fee waived as I had to wait longer due to parts error. I was given a flat out "that wasn't our fault" and the manager refused to refund rush and didn't offer any compensation. This lack of customer service or willingness to please the customer ensures I will never use this store again. read more

My custom build desktop was not booting up when I turned it on. Immediately I started to test the hardware on my PC. I started to test the video card, RAM, and hard drives but it was all working just fine. I didn't have any another spare parts in this state to continue my test so I took it to PC Tech & Parts. I explained what was going on and asked them to check why my PC was not booting up. 26 Hours later they gave me a call and told me that they had ripped my whole PC apart and tested everything in the tower. All the hardware is good. The PC was not booting up because I had a corrupted BIOS. I was very shocked because I'm the only person that I know of that has ever corrupted a BIOS. Checked that Box on the "Bucket List". The Tech switched the BIOS and flashed the corrupted BIOS with a more updated version of the BIOS. As of now my PC is running just fine. -Great Customer Service -Very fast turn around rate -Knowledgeable Techs -Local Business -Family Owned I only have a few little things that I can complain about. * This shop is little bit pricy. Don't get me wrong, I would come back again to have my PC services by them. Just a little bit Pricy. In total I paid 139 with taxes and some change for their services. *When the Tech put my computer back together, his/her cable management skills was just a little off that day. Some of the cables were not tucked in as neatly or hidden very well as I had it. Overall, this is a great PC shop/PC repair shop. I truly recommend people taking their PC and laptops here for services. And I definitely recommend you come into this Shop if you are thinking about building a new high end gaming computer. My comp. wouldn't power up,so i did a search and this company was right on top!!!.I am glad I went there. They are extremely honest and stick to the exact estimate given. My wife and I have been associated with PC Tech for many years. The PC Teck folks are intelligent and extremely versatile when it comes to computers. I would patronize them on the basis of honesty and integrity alone. They have built my computer, fixed others, taken care of viruses and malware for us and in general made living with them (the computers) a walk in the park. My computer wouldn't turn on. I called and was told to bring it in. I brought it in around 1:00pm on Mon. Oct. 30. It was exlpained to me what the problem might be. Probably a bad power supply. Tuesday afternoon my commputer was ready. The power supply was replaced and some tune up work done also. The original price quoted was billed even though some additional work was done. They were timely, reasonably priced, and very straight forward as to what the expense might be. I'll be a return customer if I have any computer problems in the future. read more
