PDQ has been our go to spot for Father's Day lunch. They do a special for fathers and it's great because we love the food there. We came in and it was actually pretty busy we waited a little to order and was surprised how fast the food came out. We also order one of their new floats which they give you a cup of ice cream and then you fill it at the machine with whatever soda you want. I notice the normal person who ran the kitchen and checked the orders was out. Should have paid attention. The guy giving me the order was not friendly at all, I should have paid attention, but I didn't. I love their broccoli and cheese side. Just ate it, it was no where near as good as usually. Less cheese and very dry. I was going to let it pass. Then I get to my chicken. Not only is it two pieces short, the three pieces I got are the smallest pieces I have ever gotten from PDQ. Sometimes when I order 5 pieces, a small 6th piece will be in there. These pieces are all the size of the small pieces that sometimes sleep in. I paid $16 for a crappy meal. Adding to the frustration is the fact PDQ is my go to. Not anymore. I may give this location one more chance, but if it is the same experience, I am done, it was that bad. read more

We don't know Brandon very well at all, and it was very hard to find a fast place to eat on a Sunday afternoon. Luckily, we saw the tiny PDQ sign tucked away on the side of the road. We had to make a U-turn to get there but it was worth it. Of course, it seemed like 1/2 of town thought the same thing. The drive through wrapped around the building and onto the side street, so we decided to just park and go inside. I was going to get tenders until we saw their light board promoting their new spicy chicken sandwich. Both hubby and I were, YES! Ok, let's get the side dishes out of the way. Waffle fries? Great as always. Parmesan broccoli? Always worth the up-charge. How in the world can a fast food restaurant do broccoli better than fancy places? Who knows... That spicy chicken sandwich? Delicious. First bite, good chicken. Second bite, ok, there's some spice. By the third bite, wow! Definitely a slow burn there, great surprise. Totally enjoyed it. It can hold its own in the spicy chicken sandwich wars. As for the restaurant itself? Clean. The busboy was sweet and busy as a bee. Bathroom was spotless. The food trays were being carried out by someone who appeared to be the manager. That long drive through? This is the first time I tried a PDQ on the west coast of Florida and it was very good. The restaurant was set up to follow Covid-19 social distancing policies and people seemed to adhere to them. I had the 5 piece geilled chicken tenders, with waffle fries and a vanilla Diet Coke. Placing the order was easy and the person who took it, gave me a very nice greeting when I approached the counter. My meal was delivered to my table in a paperbag and it was hot and fresh!!! They opened at 11AM and I arrived at 10:58AM, so everything was feshly cooked to order, which I think they try to do, but aren't always successful at. The cost of my meal was just under $11, which I think is on the high side. However, the restaurant is nice, the food was fresh and I'm a fan of the chain. The reason I didn't give them the 5th star was because they just opened and the booth I sat at had some food on one side of it and the table did have some crumbs, which I wiped away with a napkin. This was my first visit. The drive thru experience was wonderful. The service was very professional, quick, and friendly. I ordered the Cali Club with zucchini fries. The grilled chicken on the sandwich was a pretty good size and tasted great. I liked the addition of avocado and homemade ranch.There was a good amount of lettuce, tomato, bacon, and avocado. Could it be improved? Absolutely. I'd prefer slices of avocado instead of the mashed avocado. The bun to chicken ratio was also off. I had quite a bit of the bun left over. The zucchini fries were meh. My mother said they were tasteless, and I had to remind her a couple of times that it was zucchini and not potato fries. They were wimpy, and didn't have any seasoning on them. The ones at Jimmy Hula's are better. The fries did taste a little better after dipping them into the creamy garlic sauce. Get a sauce to pair with it (a choice of sauce comes with the meal) or you'll be very disappointed. I give the food a solid 3 stars. The extra star is for the service which I thought was better than the food. The convenience of giving your order directly to a person (face-to-face) instead of through a microphone made the drive thru experience better than all the others. I wasn't expecting that. I also wanted to be fair because I haven't tried their bowls or fried chicken sandwiches yet. I want to try the Honey Butter or Pimento Crunch next time. This is one of my go to lunch places...love this chicken chain for all the variety they offer. Always a quick meal with good service both at the order point and pickup. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The food and sauces are always fresh. Salads, tenders and sandwiches are all recommended. For dessert their shakes are excellent. Oh PDQ. You won our hearts when you were "that new chicken place". PDQ has been a staple of this area for quite some time (and has expanded statewide). This location is consistently good! The service has always been great here. I normally get the chicken tenders which are phenomenal with sweet sriracha. Fries? Always. Wash it down with a lemonade (so addicting!) There have been some changes to the menu in recent months - the straight fries are now waffle fries. I actually miss the straight fries a lot but the waffle fries aren't bad! I also miss the option to upgrade to tots! Nuggets were great too. I'm not a big fan of their sandwiches. I've always felt either a little underwhelmed or had messiness issues with the sandwiches so I normally stick to the nuggets. It's Fall right now (November) so the sleeper fall menu is out. Don't sleep on this menu. Remember how I said I don't care for their sandwiches? The crispy Turkey sandwich is the exception. Their best item is the chicken strips. Lightly breaded, they are juicy and tasty and never dried out. They do vary in size, though, which is a little inconsistent from meal to meal. The French fries are thin, which I'm not a huge fan of. I prefer crinkled cut or steak fry size. More to put some ketchup on. The vanilla milkshake I had was good but tasted of ice milk, which I don't care for much. I'd rather a hand dipped shake if I'm going to have one. Drive-thru takes a bit of time so be prepared for the wait. At $10 and change, you're paying a premium for slightly better food than the fast chains, but if you're a chicken fan this is a place to try! read more

What ever happened to PDQ? I admit it's been a while since I visited. But wow! They have really taken a turn for the worst. We went there the other day to find out they discontinued the blueberry slaw, crinkle cut fries and the zucchini fries. All they have now is some broccoli side and waffle fries which I can't stand. I ordered the strips which were okay, but my wife ordered the sandwich which came out raw. The mgr apologized and gave her free strips instead and took the sandwich off our bill. Make it fresh: they pride themselves on making things fresh as we sat in the bar area watching the kitchen they made the zucchini fries from scratch. He took out the zucchini chopped up and bread them right in front of us. We also had these and they were delicious. Make sure you dip them in the sauce. The chicken tenders are fabulous. Crunchy and quiet a lot. The 3 meal combo was plenty for me. The sliced apples with toffee were perfectly delicious at the end of the meal. This is a must at PDQ. I love watching how everyone works as a team to run a smooth restaurant. Love the fountain sink by the drink dispenser. It's nice to be able to wash your hands prior to eating instead of going to bathroom. Overall a great fast food place with a fresh food approach. Keep it Fresh guys! Oh almost forgot. I'm a longtime fan of PDQ. I love their customer service and "most" of their products. On a whim during happy hour, I purchased a seasonal banana pudding milkshake. Sounds great, right? It was more like a vanilla wafer milkshake with a "hint" of bananas. They should call it a VANILLA WAFER milkshake, and save the few bananas being used. And this comes from a PDQ fan! We came by on Friday afternoon and had the Grilled Turkey meal, grilled chicken meal, chicken cali meal and butter chicken meal. We really enjoyed all of the sandwiches and French fries. The zucchini fries were not good very greasy and limp, will not order again. Did think it was funny the cranberry sauce on the turkey sandwich was from a can, still had the rings on it from the can. I attended this Yelp event this location in Brandon prior to its grand opening. Prior to this event I thought PDQ was just another chicken place. This event showed me how completely wrong I was. We started with a tour of the facility from the front of the house to the back of the house. The tour began with an explanation of the concept and reason for the transition to the quick service restaurant format in the industry. We had the opportunity to meet the general manager of the Brandon location as well as managers from other locations and representatives from the corporate office. The tour was very informative and I am glad that it was a part of the event. PDQ stands for People Dedicated to Quality and from my experience they truly are. Everything at this restaurant is FRESH, organic, preservative and hormone free. All of the items are made IN HOUSE. There is not even a freezer in the establishment. Let me repeat that NO FREEZER, nothing is ever frozen. We watched the staff prep everything from fresh squeezed lemonade to salads with all of the fixings, hand breaded chicken tenders, hand cut french fries and all of the condiments and sauces. Even the ice cream and bread is sourced and made especially for PDQ to assure that it aligns with their standards. We were allowed to sample anything we wanted on the menu. I had to make sure my ears were not deceiving me but they were not, we were encouraged to try whatever we wanted. They knew how to make me a fan, didn't they! I personally tried the spicy buffalo tenders sandwich with french fries, the grilled chicken salad, lemonade, the Cap 'N Crunch Berries milkshake of the month, the Oreo milkshake and the oatmeal cranberry cookie. Overall I enjoyed all of the food I tried. I would ask for my dressing on the side next time because I did not prefer the berry ginger dressing which accompanied it. I love french fries and these were pretty good, I especially loved that they were salted perfectly. Although I loved both shakes, the crunch berry feature was a nice surprise. The cookie was freshly baked and still soft, it was great treat for the end of the meal. I discovered several items which I would order again for sure on another visit. After learning about their dedication to quality and they way its reflected in the food preparation, I would definitely recommend you give this place a try.
