Okay this is a strong 4. Me & Bae happened to be in Charlotte for the weekend. I wanted to try PDQ again since I enjoyed the food at the High Point PDQ. We had a Triad Yelp Elite event there and boy did they roll out the red carpet. Kudos for product consistency. The restaurant wasn't packed so we were able to order as soon as we walked in. This particular day they were out of medium cups? You could get the the child's cup or a jumbo cup. Not a huge deal since we ordered convos and decided to dine in. All the sauces are prepackaged in the 2 oz condiment cups. You know the ones. What you get when you ask for a side of ranch to go. Food arrived hot & fresh to our table. This place is pristine. The staff is efficient and friendly. PDQ runs like a well-oiled machine. Having said that, I have to add that the food is a big letdown. I purchased a Mediterranean salad with dried out bland, chewy chicken, with a disappointing smatter of olives, peppers and feta, and there was no dressing that I could taste on the salad. I also had a handspun strawberry shake, which was just okay, but the whipped cream was terrible. My husbands food was lackluster too. He ordered chicken tenders and fries. So wow! I loved this place, kinda different but kinda not. So like I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and it was great! Fressssssh and the toppings were perfect and so fresh. The quality of the chicken was really good!!! Also the fries were your basic waffle fries, but their sauces are really good! I had the creamy garlic and PDQ sauce which was so good. I have a chicken tender fanatic in the household, so it was only a matter of time before we gave PDQ a try. I'm not a chicken sandwich eater, so we just got a small order of tenders and fries just to see if it was worth a repeat trip. Let me tell you know, it sure is. Well seasoned fried chicken (this isn't always a given, even though it should be) that tastes great even without the sauce. Crispy (not hard) exterior while the chicken itself was moist. She picked sweet sriracha sauce, and it was a hit for us. The flavor took it over the top. I see reviews complaining about waffle fries, we love waffle fries so they were fine for us. Not salty, similar to CFA's fries. She was disappointed that the pop tart shake was no longer available, they have a fall menu running currently, and we don't do pumpkin spice (bleh). So the specialty shake flavors rotate. I had some of her Oreo shake (the perfect backup choice) and it was also good. We've never seen a PDQ before so we had to try it. We went through the drive-thru and ordered 12-pc. classic nuggets, 12-pc. spicy nuggets and a classic chicken deluxe sandwich. Our food was ready by the time we got to the second window which scared me because I expected cold chicken. To my delight, the hand-battered chicken was hot and seasoned just right. That chicken was on point! The bread on my sandwich was toasted but cold. Although the sauces were pretty good, we all agreed that the sauces of their primary competitor is better. The two ladies we met in the window were kind. We didn't eat in but like most fast food places, the ambiance is casual. We will definitely look for a PDQ when we travel again. read more

In general, tasty fresh Chicken prepared in a number of ways. Running around on the 4th of July and my wife asked me to pick up dinner since it was too hot to comfortably cook. We discussed a couple of options and came down to two restaurants and since one was closed for the 4th, ended up at PDQ. Not to say I am not familiar with PDQ even though I had never been to this particular one. Have been a fan of the sister restaurant, Tenders in Cornelius since they opened years ago. Out growth of 131 Main down the street and everything is fresh, never frozen to the point they do not even own a freezer. My wife ordered the Fruit Harvest salad and I can quickly see why she did. Beautiful prepared salad chocked through with fall fruits and nuts. Standard dressing with this one is Blueberry and it was the perfect compliment. Normally I would have gone with a straight Chicken or Buffalo Chicken Sandwich but I wanted to try something different so I tried the Cali Club. Should have stayed with my regular. While not bad, the sandwich lacked taste and contrast. The Avocado and the Ranch Dressing gave a rich yet bland taste with little taste or texture. Next time I will know better and will try something else off the menu. They were busy being a Holiday and yet at the same time, service remained excellent. I tried a grilled cali bowl. It contained grilled chicken, chile lime corn, broccoli, black beans, rice and avocado (I didn't get the avocado with mine). It is very tasty but it is quite salty. The seasoning is flavorful, but I was concerned about the amount of sodium it must have had. I didn't think it required any additional sauces or dressing, but it does come with a choice of one. I couldn't finish the entire bowl, and there was a lot of corn and rice, so I only ate a little bit of that, but overall it's pretty good. I typically get the grilled chicken sandwich with fries which I really enjoy, but since I'm trying to avoid gluten I tried the bowl. I'm not sure if I'll have this again, but it's worth a try if you're not concerned about sodium and carbs. read more

This fast food has been in Concord for so long but never had the time to try it out. Turns out it is owned by the people who own Tenders in Huntersville! So cool! Food was great. Only thing was I ordered my pimento cheese chicken sandwich and it didn't come with chicken in it. But I told the cashier and they fixed the issue. They even were nice enough to give us free waffle fries for the inconvenience. I loved their corn and feta side. It's a different alternative from your usual fries. And get this - they are not stingy with their sauces. Want more, they give you more. I mean how crazy of a concept is that. And the sauce are the not only delicious with the tenders but also so delicious with the fries. I need to find out if they bottle and sell their sauces because I would buy that creamy garlic. It is amazing. Fresh and zingy but without being to sharp in flavor. And I do enjoy their blueberry coleslaw. I do have to add a little salt to mine because I find it slightly under seasoned but most coleslaw is. I think the addition of salt just makes the cabbage lose it's crunchy factor and draws out too much water - so I get this. But the fresh blueberries are a special treat in this coleslaw and make me feel like I am eating something healthy. Oh, Apples! My sweet treat every time we go. Fresh apples that they keep from browning in that lemon concoction. The green apples that are slightly tart pair so well with that sweet toffee dip. Again, I feel like I am eating healthy. So I treated my babies to lunch and decided I would try the "new to me" menu item, roasted broccoli with sea salt and olive oil, at least that was what it said on the menu. After getting settled in I started eating the broccoli which had a pretty good taste and I started having an allergic reaction to it...I then stopped consuming it, looked over it, and found specs of pepper in it, which wasnt listed on the menu. Note to PDQ: people have food allergies and food sensitivities more than ever before, and you must take that into consideration when giving ingredient detail on your menu. Allergic reactions are no fun and can kill you. Be more mindful of this, you don't want to catch a lawsuit. read more

I enjoyed my first visit to PDQ. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Salad with blueberry-ginger vinaigrette salad dressing. The salad was on point. The dressing was tasty as well, however, I was a bit taken aback by its consistency which was thick and pasty-like. That aside, the restaurant has an array of drinks and I could not resist the Vanilla Coke for an afternoon thirst-quencher. The hand-washing station is stationed so that you have no excuse to avoid the spread of germs. BTW, PDQ stands for People Dedicated to Quality. Needless to say, that was evident during our visit. We were consulted to ensure everything was well at our table and when we informed one staff member that the sweet tea was not sweetened, it was handled immediately. The staff are always cleaning up and tending to the restaurant and patrons. I look forward to visiting again. Thank you PDQ for a great restaurant experience. Today I had the Cali Club(grilled chicken with ranch, bacon, avocado, lettuce, and tomato) with a side of zucchini fries. Most of the time I get the grilled turkey breast sandwich(grilled turkey with traditional spices, mayo, lettuce, and cranberry) which is like something you'd eat at Thanksgiving. Their sauces and dressings are made in-house. The food is pretty good. Today the cashier and other employees were very polite. They had someone working the dining room keeping the tables clean. Fast and good food. I was anxious to try PDQ on a normal day after attending a yelp event months ago. The restaurant is very inviting. The person taking our order was friendly and helped make some suggestions. I landed on the saucy rice bowl with crispy chicken and buffalo blue sauce. The bowl had rice as a base and black beans, broccoli, corn and guacamole. And of course chopped pieces of golden fried tenders on top. I covered it all in the buffalo blue sauce which is my favorite. The tenders were amazing, breading was nice and chicken was well, tender. The rice wasn't perfect and a little undercooked for my liking. Overall, it was a solid meal and kept me very full. They did have Coke Freesyle machines so that was a plus, but as I was deciding I noticed the in-house brewed iced tea. There was an unsweetened blackberry jasmine that was delicious. Unfortunately they ran out when I went to refill. So I decided to just get regular unsweetened tea. I got a little grossed out. The nozzles on the teas need some cleaning. I saw something hanging from the nozzle whenever it was opened. I didn't drink any tea after that and hated to end my visit on seeing that. Mediocre food served in a more family-friendly environment. I decided to try a full meal from PDQ after enjoying one of their chicken tenders at the Yelp SEAlife event. I had no idea where this place was in relation to the Mills, so I did drive around a little bit before finally finding it (thanks to my GPS app). It's right across the Academy store, if you happen to know the layout of the area better than myself. I walked in and was surprised at how spacious it was. It was pretty packed in the seating area but there was no line. I walked right up and ordered a chicken tenders salad and beverage. Total cost of my meal came right under $8. The beverages are self-serve. They have the ubiquitous coca cola machine but I went the half unsweet/half sweet tea combo. Unfortunately, I was very dissatisfied with the taste of their tea and regretted my beverage choice. They call out your order via microphone so be sure you're paying attention while deciding which coca cola combination you want to fill your cup with. I wasn't blown away by my salad. It was just OK. I plan on going back to try their chicken tenders meal (although my friend who I went with stated those were just ok as well) but I would recommend PDQ as a better alternative than what's found in the mall food court. read more
