Onion rings and what-a-cheeseburger with bacon
    Larry Q.

I'm sure this is a long time Concord favorite but for someone who just moved here, I found that the burger and the onion rings were just average. The thing that really got me was being charged $.55 for water and then they passed on the credit card fee.

What a deliciously juicy burger the what-a-cheeseburger is! Sometimes simplicity is plain perfect. The partner-in-dine put his foot down and went for the footlong. He was in hotdog heaven. We were glad to learn that they now accept card payments.

    What-a-Salisbury and fries
    Daniel P.

MLB is out in Asheville for work and I just left the doc's office with a note for the boss and only the vaguest idea of what sort of plague I'm carrying but I'm hungry and it's a nice day for a short drive in the county. Pull into a large lot on the back end of lunch and try to figure out when this ever was a drive-in: guessing pre-history. So I head in and try not to breathe on anyone because, well, plague... and request a W-A-Salisbury (plus lettuce, tomatoe, mayo, and pickles with a spear through it's head) fries and a cup of water. Head around the corner, find a table in the back and relax for a bit; my food arrives in less than ten minutes and a smiley face comes with all for a modest sum. An old fashioned honest little burger in an old timey setting that doesn't need tarted-up tomatoey-paste to sell it's product. It's W-A-B all day long, yea for you if you get it, don't go bragging if'n you don't. ...and this visit completes the set except for the trucks.

Optimist Hall itself is a very food-centric, upscale food hall with a ton of vendors, so the atmosphere is energetic and fun. Seating can be a little challenging during peak dinner hours since so many people are grabbing food from different spots, but when the weather is nice there's plenty of outdoor seating. Harriet's keeps their burger formula refreshingly simple. It's a classic smash burger done right--made to order with a straightforward menu that doesn't overcomplicate things. There's usually a line, but it moves pretty quickly, and the burgers come out hot and fresh. One of the best parts of eating here is the flexibility of the food hall experience. While you're waiting, you can grab a craft beer, a glass of wine, or even browse for dessert from one of the other vendors. Insider tip: Come with a group if you can. It's a great place to share fries and let everyone explore different vendors around the hall. Parking is fairly easy with the nearby garage, which makes the whole experience even more convenient. Overall, Harriet's is a fun, delicious stop for a smash burger, especially if you're already enjoying the energy of Optimist Hall.

I live super close to Optimist Hall, so it's been on my radar for a while. This particular night I wasn't feeling great, so I DoorDashed instead of dining in. I ordered the Royale with crispy fries and let me just say... I get it. The burger was genuinely impressive. The quality of the beef stood out immediately. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The meat to bun ratio was spot on, which is crucial. Nothing worse than a bread heavy burger. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, the build was balanced, and even after delivery, everything held up beautifully. So far I've tried two burger spots in Charlotte, and this one takes the top spot. I'm not ready to declare it the best in the entire city just yet because my burger tour is ongoing, but right now it's leading the race. I'll definitely be going to Optimist Hall soon to try it fresh off the grill and experience the service and atmosphere firsthand. Expect an update. But based on this first round alone, Harriet's is absolutely worth the order. Burger lovers, this one deserves a try.

I was, however, taken aback a bit that two cookies were $10 and some change, but having said that they were delicious cookies. Especially the s'mores. Whole family liken the brie and bacon bites and cranberry sauce that comes with them. I asked if they had any mocktails and was delighted that not only did they but Savannah recommended one that I totally loved. We regularly doordash Bad Daddy's and I think that their tater tots are stand out. This location was no exception. They are the perfect texture and flavor every time. We ordered an assortment of burgers and everyone's order arrived exactly as requested from temp to which items or condiments to be included. They grabbed us some mayo when we asked for some for the tater tots. Whole family sans me loved the specialty sauce they make. It was ok but I am also not as into sauces as the rest of the fam :) For dessert we ordered the Oreo cheesecake and the banana pudding. Both were phenomenal and everyone was thrilled with. Excellent banana pudding flavors, texture and layers. I think may be one of the best I have ever had. Definitely in my top 5. Family that had the Oreo cheesecake loved it, thought it was a unique take and did not leave any on the plate nor did they need a to go bag. I found all the desserts to be a shareable size for us. Would absolutely return and recommend!

The restaurant was a ghost town on a Sunday evening. Maybe everyone is still eating Thanksgiving leftovers? Since there were 3 of us, we opted for an order of 3 tenders, 3 sliders, and 3 fry flavors. It was definitely enough for us to all share. The tenders were nice and crispy and the sweet chili sauce was good. I picked the Green Flag slider with bacon and pickles, very tasty. The little burger was cooked perfectly. For the fries we went with beer cheese and bacon, MW dusted, and Cajun. The Cajun were the best of the 3. The MW dust is a little on the sweet side which I didn't mind because I was dipping mine in the leftover sweet chili sauce. I was hoping to be able to pick tots as one of the 3 options but it was fries or tots, no mixing. I was also a little disappointed that the entrees options did not come with any sides.
