4.5 stars for me! The parking situation isn't the best and the location felt kind of sketch but one you get past that, they have a huge assortment of wines and beers. I'm not a beer drinker but I even saw some ciders I had never seen before that I'd probably be willing to try. The standout of this place is that they had a brand of wine that I haven't been able to find since 2017. I was shook when I saw it. I even checked the brands store locator site and apparently this is 1/2 place near Raleigh that carries it. Needless to say I will be back to stock up on several bottles! read more

Hello little hole-in-the-wall beer store on Peace Street! What a hidden gem this place is. It looks like a junky little quick-shop, but inside it's full of a wide variety of beers! They also have an aisle of wine for those non-beer lovers too, and you can find some snacks around the store as well. This is your one-stop party shop :) This isn't your typical stop-and-go beer store, it's chock full of delicious beers that you can't find in your average store. The walls are lined with coolers full of 22oz, 6-pack, and 12-pack craft beers. They also have a good choice of domestics too, but this is your go-to place for take-home craft beer. The store however has one of the best beer selections in the Triangle, and has a HUGE amount of Belgian beers and other imports that you literally can't find anywhere else in a 100-mile radius. Continually running specials - for example I just loaded up on Hop Nosh bc they had it going for $3.99 / 6-pack. I have a hard time calling this place by it's name. In my head, it's simply 'Beer Heaven.' They cover all types of beers. If you are not a beer snob, you can still find the domestics you want. If you are a beer snob, then you'll want to bring a list of beers you are interested in. If you come un-prepared, be ready to just sit and stare for about 20 minutes. Bonus Points: + They carry growlers for the locals breweries + The folks behind the counter know exactly where each beer is, so if you need help, don't be afraid to ask Negative: + Parking. I don't know what's better the fact that I could consistently buy my favorite beers (Sam 76 and Labatt Blue) here or the fact that I lived less than a 1/2 mile away from this legendary spot. I guess both end up being pretty solid. I could always count on Peace Street to have the beers I needed for whatever situation I would find myself in. I'd read the other reviews of Peace Street in passing, then just a week later found myself saving the (Thanksgiving) day with my superior convenience store knowledge (thanks guys). At 4 o' clock on Thanksgiving Day, there was literally ONE place open, and Peace Street was it (it also gets bonus points for being just around the corner). Our last-minute list included: aluminum foil, brown sugar and imported beer. Fortunately, no one was exaggerating about the beer selection (better than any grocery store I've tried), the random baking section carried TWO different kinds of brown sugar, and the guy at the counter helped us find a roll of foil. So the turkey was saved from a dried-out doom, the sweet potatoes sweetened to perfection and the guests happily buzzed on Pumkinhead and Blue Moon. It may be a diamond in the rough, but this year I was thankful for Peace Street Market. read more

Been going here for years. Best selection in Raleigh. I usually can find something that will quench my craft beer palette. The frustrating thing is that stocking is inconsistent. I've found some good beers there (e.g. Racer 5) only to never see it again. Service is not what brings me back to this place. Lately they have been expanding their large bottle selection - Hopping Frog ,Moylan's. New beers are usually placed on a palate as you walk in the door - found Avery Maharajha there for cheap! You do have to watch out for some skunky beers, however. (Sam's in Durham has a better selection with better service) read more

I first fell in love with this place when it was "7-Even", and I was 16 years old. This place was the 40oz malt liquor equivalent of Costco. You name it, they had it. As I got older, and my tastes changed, I began to appreciate other elements of this place--namely their selection of beers. So many beers I doubt anyone could ever completely sample most of their stock. Seriously--there's like a million different beers. PSM is a Raleigh institution, and has been for a long time. It's a very reasonably priced convenience store...with a beer selection that's possibly the best in the city. If it's a particular style of beer you want, if they don't have it you'll probably need to brew it yourself. I can remember buying PBR for $4.99 a case there in college, and now I guy Belgian and domestic beers that used to require buying in another state before Pop the Cap got us sensible beer laws (we used to have a silly %ABV law.) And if they don't have a particular brand you are looking for, ask for it and they'll try and get you some. A trick to those who have trouble getting in and out: use the side street, take your first right and head out to Glenwood where you can turn back to the right again and be at a traffic light. That can be a real time saver during rush hour. read more

Peace Street is kind of one of those go-to places for folks needing a good beer fix. They do tend to have a very good variety, with lots of different options for all tastes and all levels of beer snobbery. However, I have to say that I do find them to generally be overpriced. Sometimes, if you are in search of something particular that's hard to find, it can be worth paying the premium price. But otherwise I try to stay away and buy cheaper elsewhere. Usually I can beat the price. If I'm in Durham, Sam's Qwik Stop is the way to go. But for what it's worth in Raleigh, very good beer selection and not stupid crazy but somewhat high prices. Cold beer and snacks. Unlike Tasty Beverage, Crafty, Tyler's, Paddy O', and North Street, I can walk into Peace Street and get great beer, Cape Cod Potato Chips, a rose, and a pack of gum. Peace Street remains one of the best and most convenient craft beer stores in downtown. Not only do they have a great sized inventory for such a convenient store but the prices are great as well. Great beer selection. Local and domestic beers abound as well as more wine choices than I know what to do with. But above any of these, the guys working here have done more for me than anyone else in any other retail location. Within a matter of days we developed a personal connection and the manager helped me get retail pricing on a large purchase of beer for my wedding.
