It's in the heart of Townsend and is the only place with a vibe that fits the foodie, the dog lover, the family with kids who need a playground, and those wanting to sit at the bar or watch sports on tv. However, I Typically I like my food hot. Unfortunately, the rice in the power bowl was ice cold. The dressing was great, I like the arugula over any other kind of lettuce as well. Our absolute favorite restaurant when we come to Townsend or the Gatlinburg area. Great food, great atmosphere, great drinks. A must visit! This place is great. We went around 1:30pm and it wasn't too crowded. The food was delicious. We had the round bread aka pizza, chicken hoagie and truffle fries. The food was hot & delicious. They have Indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor area has a patio cover; some sail covers and some areas that are not covered at all. Dogs are allowed and so are kids! They have a taco bar outside as well. They operate out of a sea container but it's pretty cool. A lot of craft beer options from the area. They also have kombucha and wine for those that are not beer drinkers. They also have a big menu to appease all appetites. They do have a gluten feee food list as well as sodas! Brought the daughter, S-I-L and 2 grandkids here after Thanksgiving in Gatlinburg. S-I-L said, "There ought to be a place like THIS in Gatlinburg." Why? It was kid -friendly (8 & 11 YO played outside), and adult friendly, great beer, great food for many tastes. we had pizza, sandwiches, and kid pizzas. It was busy as all get out, but with the available seating and play areas, nobody got bored. Ready access to the beer didn't hurt. AND, live music, too. Stopped in twice for meals and beer. They have a nice selection of draft beers and at reasonable prices. The power bowl was very good and of seemingly high quality ingredients. Rude Rude Rude. Tried to order a sandwich 30 mins before they close and they said they couldn't accommodate us or wait 2 hours. Why does it take 2 hours to make a sandwich? Would they really stay there 1.5 hours after closing? I asked why it would take two hours and the reply was "they are the only good restaurant in Townsend". A beer and a sandwich here will run you easily into the mid-$20s with tip, but that Tailgate Orange Wheat beer and the smoked trout sandwich with avocado and arugula is our post-hike imperative! So so good. It's wonderful and relaxing on a weekday afternoon, but quite noisy and busy and loud on weekends. There is ample seating both inside and out. It's a very family and dog-friendly place, with the cutest little play area for the many kids you will find there. Oh...and we all know a great family gathering has the best food and drinks. Things to note that matter for a review: I was solo and it was lunch time on a Friday. Centrally located in Townsend, Peaceful Side Social is easy to get to from each direction. The atmosphere is modern industrial casual. They are still working out some kinks with their heating system, so grab a jacket or sweater, but certainly don't let that stop you. Beer warms the blood anyway! The menu has a limited selection, but don't let that deceive you. There is something on it for almost anyone. They have sandwiches, roundbreads (think pizza), Truffles fries and more. Ordering is done in a fast casual style, meaning you order at the counter, then they bring it to your table. Don't let this trick you. You will be getting the highest of quality chef crafted food by an award winning chef. I ordered the Fig and Pear roundbread and enjoyed 2 of 15 locally brewed beers currently on tap. The round bread was cooked to perfection. The figs were warm and firm but not too chewy. The hot honey deserved a kiss it was so sweet and spicey at the same time. I chose to sit at the bar because I as traveling solo this trip. I struck up conversations with both Russ and Jonathan. Great guys with fun stories to share! Friendly staff makes such a huge impact when you are solo. I really wanted to grab a sweatshirt or t-shirt from their merch section, but decided I would save that for my next trip. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Just waited outside for 20 minutes and didn't even make it inside to wait and place an order. Literally the line did not move. The girls ahead of us were holding the door open and yet we got yelled at (literally yelled at) by a staff member because the door was open. Not a "hey can you please close the door" but a "that door needs to stay closed!". After 20 minutes of standing outside (with the door closed) and zero movement, we gave up. This place had my family figured out. We brought our dog and 3 kids twice while we were staying in Townsend. My beer snob husband appreciated the selection while the food was fresh and homemade and easy to share between us all. The salad was spot on- the perfect amount of vinaigrette, shaved country ham, feta, walnuts, OMG it was a cut above most like it. The hummus duo was amazing as well.
