We've been coming to the wears valley area for years and far prefer it to the Gatlinburg/pigeon forge side. The peaceful side social it's just what this area needed! It's incredibly family friendly--my kids had a blast playing on the playground , andy husband and I could eat a meal and hold an uninterrupted conversation. Genius! Honestly, even if the food wasn't good, that would be enough. BUT the food and beer are outstanding and the staff are fried fly and helpful. The atmosphere was great, very casual and family friendly. I love that!! The taco bar had great choice and the tacos (braised beef, pork, and chicken) were really good. Margaritas with house made fresh ingredients were amazing! Service was excellent. Also went inside and had a pizza, fresh and delicious service inside was also excellent, such a friendly staff. Traveling Here for the Smoky Mountain Nationals and the local restaurants have been very very accommodating food quality and service until tonight at the Taco Bar Overpriced and poor quality food. We came here while visiting Smoky Mountain National Park. There is a nice patio that is at least 4 times as big as the indoor seating. They are dog friendly with TVs inside and outside, and a great play area for the kids. They were pretty busy this Saturday due to the Tennessee game (and maybe the fall foliage and fall break). We we greeted when entering and told that the kitchen was very busy, so it would be about 45 minutes on food unless we wanted to order from the taco bar. We also had the option of ordering beer at the bar if we only wanted drinks. We were going to order the sausage + vegetable round bread, but they had run out of mushrooms. We ended up ordering truffle fries, a protein bowl with smoked trout (smoked in house), and 3 tacos. It was too much food for the two of us but was all very good. The protein bowl had generous portions of avocado and trout. I wasn't crazy about the vinaigrette, but I'm not big on dressing to begin with so it really didn't matter to me. The truffle fries were delicious, and it was a huge order. My husband had one veggie, one pork, and one chicken taco with corn tortillas. They were all good, but the smoked pork was the favorite. Everyone here was super friendly and helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed. And it's in a pretty setting to boot. Everyone we spoke with around the Smokies recommended this place, so we simply had to go! It's a nice break from the intensity encountered in Gatlinburg, and has a sweet country vibe to it. The pizza (I ordered the fig pizza) was super delicious, and my friends enjoyed their tacos from the taco stand. They called them "simple but good" and proceeded to eat every bite. The drink selection was nice, and my red wine was actually surprisingly good. A good pour, too. The only thing was the band...not the best. But kind of adorable the way they gave it their all. I'd also say that there are A LOT of children and dogs in the outside sitting area. So if you don't like either one, just be aware. There is a lot of space to spread out, though. read more

The perfect place to relax and eat after hiking the Smokies! We enjoy a soft pretzel which was warm and fluffy with the right amount of butter and salt on top and the beer cheese dip was wonderful! I had the butternut squash and kale salad with chicken which was delicious and so refreshing after a long road trip and long hike I needed the veggies!! The ambiance of this 'quick service' restaurant was very laid back. They have outdoor and indoor seating which was is nice. Dogs are allowed so if you are allergic you may want to keep that in mind. They have 3 bathroom stalls and they are open to all genders. The food was good, but not my favorite flavors. The sandwich had had an odd taste that I couldn't place and the fries had an over powering flavor of truffle oil. 2nd trip to PSS was even better than the 1st! We were greeted by a friendly bartender, Jason, that let us sample a few of the draft selections before we made our drink choices for the evening. The outdoor area has been upgraded and made even more family friendly with an outdoor playground area. We did not try the Taco Bar but it was a nice addition also if dining outside. Very cool concept with the taco bar, however, all of the tacos could use more seasoning. The chicken taco was very bland. Also, tortillas need to be grilled or heated before serving. Corn tortillas fell apart immediately when I picked them up. I did see a lot of pizza and fries come out of the restaurant, so maybe I'll try that next time. I get the hype on this place. It's in the heart of Townsend and is the only place with a vibe that fits the foodie, the dog lover, the family with kids who need a playground, and those wanting to sit at the bar or watch sports on tv. However, I Typically I like my food hot. Unfortunately, the rice in the power bowl was ice cold. The dressing was great, I like the arugula over any other kind of lettuce as well. This place is great. We went around 1:30pm and it wasn't too crowded. The food was delicious. We had the round bread aka pizza, chicken hoagie and truffle fries. The food was hot & delicious. They have Indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor area has a patio cover; some sail covers and some areas that are not covered at all. Dogs are allowed and so are kids! They have a taco bar outside as well. They operate out of a sea container but it's pretty cool. A lot of craft beer options from the area. They also have kombucha and wine for those that are not beer drinkers. They also have a big menu to appease all appetites. They do have a gluten feee food list as well as sodas! Brought the daughter, S-I-L and 2 grandkids here after Thanksgiving in Gatlinburg. S-I-L said, "There ought to be a place like THIS in Gatlinburg." Why? It was kid -friendly (8 & 11 YO played outside), and adult friendly, great beer, great food for many tastes. we had pizza, sandwiches, and kid pizzas. It was busy as all get out, but with the available seating and play areas, nobody got bored. Ready access to the beer didn't hurt. AND, live music, too. Centrally located in Townsend, Peaceful Side Social is easy to get to from each direction. The atmosphere is modern industrial casual. They are still working out some kinks with their heating system, so grab a jacket or sweater, but certainly don't let that stop you. Beer warms the blood anyway! The menu has a limited selection, but don't let that deceive you. There is something on it for almost anyone. They have sandwiches, roundbreads (think pizza), Truffles fries and more. Ordering is done in a fast casual style, meaning you order at the counter, then they bring it to your table. Don't let this trick you. You will be getting the highest of quality chef crafted food by an award winning chef. I ordered the Fig and Pear roundbread and enjoyed 2 of 15 locally brewed beers currently on tap. The round bread was cooked to perfection. The figs were warm and firm but not too chewy. The hot honey deserved a kiss it was so sweet and spicey at the same time. I chose to sit at the bar because I as traveling solo this trip. I struck up conversations with both Russ and Jonathan. Great guys with fun stories to share! Friendly staff makes such a huge impact when you are solo. I really wanted to grab a sweatshirt or t-shirt from their merch section, but decided I would save that for my next trip. A beer and a sandwich here will run you easily into the mid-$20s with tip, but that Tailgate Orange Wheat beer and the smoked trout sandwich with avocado and arugula is our post-hike imperative! So so good. It's wonderful and relaxing on a weekday afternoon, but quite noisy and busy and loud on weekends. There is ample seating both inside and out. It's a very family and dog-friendly place, with the cutest little play area for the many kids you will find there. The one downside is that you can't order from your table and there's often a line reaching far out the door. But it's totally worth it. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Just waited outside for 20 minutes and didn't even make it inside to wait and place an order. Literally the line did not move. The girls ahead of us were holding the door open and yet we got yelled at (literally yelled at) by a staff member because the door was open. Not a "hey can you please close the door" but a "that door needs to stay closed!". After 20 minutes of standing outside (with the door closed) and zero movement, we gave up. This place had my family figured out. We brought our dog and 3 kids twice while we were staying in Townsend. My beer snob husband appreciated the selection while the food was fresh and homemade and easy to share between us all. We ordered pizza, truffle fries, salad, and the trail charcuterie and everything was delicious. The playground and bags game kept our kids occupied and we didn't feel rushed to leave so we could enjoy our drinks and some much needed sunshine. Well where do I start... food was ok the waiters and waitresses were wonderful. Corn hole was cool the atmosphere was awesome besides the slight smell of sewage.
